It’s important to stay busy in my line of work, and fresh challenges keep me on my toes. I just didn’t expect it to happen so soon. Okay, so I accepted the archdemon Lucian’s gift in the hopes that it would make me invincible—big mistake.
A darkness rises in me that I can’t control. It seduces me, offering me the power to make things right again, all the while consuming little pieces of my soul. But if I embrace the darkness, will I ever be the same? I’m not the Hunter I once was. I’m changing. And it scares the crap out of me.
Worse, Lisbeth has turned the Gray Council against me. Yeah, that cost me a trip to the Silent Gallows. Yay me.
But they can’t get rid of me that easily. Hell no. Lisbeth and her followers better get ready, ‘cause I’m coming for her...

¡Qué a gustito me he quedado leyéndola!
“Creo que es el destino. Creo que esto fue solo una pequeña parte del destino que se ha trazado para ti”.
Well we are getting to the end of the series so in this book many questions were answered. The half-breeds have killed most of themselves out. Daddy Demon has taken back the demon magic. The dark witch ended up saying Rowyn's life and Lisbeth has gotten what she deserved. I wonder what will happen in the next book as this one was so jam packed. Oh Yeah Rowyn got her elve too.

Like the others, this is fast paced and slams through the plot with both violence and blood. Its fascinating and shows the growth of the characters. Still disappointed about Jax though. Fool.
Rowyn is suckered into appearing before the Gray Council, thinking Lisbeth is going to get her comeuppance. Oops. Lisbeth has the half-breed community in her pocket and Rowyn is convicted of killing the werewolf leader (which she did) (but only in self-defense) So Rowyn is whisked off in a helicopter to the prison called Silent Gallows where she is reacquainted with our favorite jinni. Never trust a jinni.
She has to call upon her archdemon father to get out of this pickle. Oh, and she discovers that the gift he gave her will turn her into a demon over time, even faster as she uses its power to vanquish others. Good times.
Once free of prison, Rowyn becomes a prime contender for TSTL status. She annihilates a group of Dark Arrows and in doing so realizes her short-lived status of staying under the radar is blown. So what does she do? Spends the night with the elf. Then she moseys over to grandma’s for breakfast and is shocked (shocked I say!) to find that Lisbeth had absconded with gran and the cats. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Re: Grandma Dark Gift, chapter 7: “She’s eighty-two." Dark Curse, chapter 21: “The fact that she was in her late seventies played against her.” So which is it?
Rowyn has to face Lisbeth and her four unmarked minions in a rescue attempt. It gets real ugly.

Now after five books I'm just tired of Rowyn constant bad decisions. Her behaviour is upsetting and childish. Stop! I would like to read more about her relationship with Gareth and especially about him but it seems that Rowyn's stupidy and temper blocked the storyline. I don't buy the new story with Layla. It looks like the plot had completely changed of direction and I'm not interested to read about how Rowyn will make stupid decisions to save a perfect stranger. I noticed that we still didn't know why Danto was so opposed to drink Rowyn's blood and why after that their relationship got weird and distant...? Was it only because of Cindy? It felt that there was something more between them and suddenly this detail is totally forgotten... It's sad to say that the characters remain superficial and the storyline is mainly based on the FMC stupid decisions and their consequences. I expected more. I won't read the next books.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this brilliant 5th book in the exciting Shadow & Light series from the author. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Rowyn's continuing battle against evil witches, jinns, demons, archdemons, not-so-angelic angels & nasty fae! Rowyn finds herself sentenced to the Silent Gallows after being found guilty of the murder of werewolf alpha, Steven. Can she survive, find a way to escape & prove her innocence? Will she remove the dark 'gift' from her father, Lucian, before it takes over her soul? Can she unveil the evil deeds Gray Council member, Lisbeth, is behind with the help from an old enemy? Could the sexy elf, Gareth, ever be a permanent fixture in her life & heart? Loved it! Glad to read at the end of the book that there's going to be a 6th book - more Tyrius, Layla, Gareth & Rowyn, yay! Highly recommended magical read.
Yet again Rowyn Sinclair blunders her way through life and lots of bad things happen to her. Her daddy Archdemon Lucien gives her a gift but lies about what it does she ends up with a bad dark curse that eats away at her she gets sent away to a prison that is really a death sentence but escapes finds out that other unmarked have been created using her blood and dark magic and that they are trying to kill her. The old bag Lucinda has joined forced with Lucian to take the gift from her and give to one of the other unmarked . That ends up in disaster with them killing each other now only one other remains that she could save and now needs to keep safe. Rowyn is one walking catastrophe her life is chaos but at least she and Gareth seem to be making it lets see what the next book brings
I can’t bring myself to finish this series. And I make it a rule to always finish a book series all the way through. But I was honestly bored through most of these books. Between the superficial relationships, none of the characters having any depth and the lack of a good storyline and plot I’m surprised I finished the book. I don’t usually judge so harshly and there are parts I liked that kept me somewhat interested so I kept reading this far. I did like the Rowyn/Gareth relationship but it was also too few and far between. Rowyn just makes terrible decisions that everyone disagrees with over and over again yet somehow things always just work themselves out, and the “bad guys” are just cringy and lame.
Just when you think the series can't get any better, this book comes out. I absolutely loved this new addition to the series. It is helpful to read the previous books, it helps to know what has happened and why. I loved the twists and turns in this book and although we all know Rowyn is a kickass heroine; however she's really tested in this book. Not only is she dealing with the consequences of accepting her new dark powers, but it seems like everything is stacked against her. This book has a whole bunch of ups and downs and twists and turns that keep you glued to the pages. I can't wait to see what comes next in the series!
Hmm. Is there a reason for our heroine acting without any logic, sense, or brains all the time?
I cannot credit the utter lack of reasonable deduction that Rowyn reacts with, yet I find it so sad that she really has no confidence in anyone else taking care of those she loves. And so, she goes haring off to substitute herself for everyone else, knowing she's going to be killed. Lucky for her, she seems to have nine lives, as she keeps escaping / eluding death.
This was an exciting read, though, with action practically nonstop. Still perturbed by the too many typos, but they were a minor distraction. Four stars.
Dark Curse starts off from where number four left off. I’ve always loved Rowyn's sarcastic banter. She is still very stubborn and wants to do what she wants. And listens to no one. That, in turn, gets her into some trouble, usually, all the time.
Rowyn has to deal with the curse that Lucian has given her. Though, at times it seems like she wants it and then doesn’t. It’s a fight within herself and your unsure really what’s going to happen. As usual, there are quite a few twists and turns in this story. I’m still highly entertained by it all. I do feel like something is missing; I don’t know what.
Dark Curse was an adventure, and an enjoyable read. This series I’ve grown to love. And I know there will be more to come.
Just like the previous books in the series. I couldn't put this one down.
There is never a boring moment, nor does anything get to that point where it's monotonous. Rowyn's snarky witty comments still bring out laughs. They haven't gotten childish yet. The storyline is continuing at a steady pace without feeling drawn out. I like all the characters still and how everything is evolving feels natural. In a supernatural way that is.
This is good. I love seeing what trouble she gets herself into. Love that she didnt let herself go to the dark. With the gift she received. Wish there would have been away for her to get the gift, keep it and control it. That would help her be a stronger hunter. However, givi g up that power shows that she is stronger. I like that her and the dark qitch have an understanding now as well. Can't wait for the next one!

Rowyn has quite an adventure in this latest book in the series. Her enemy has worked against her and she has her own internal demons that could destroy her as well.
I recommend the series and that you read each book in order. They jump right into the story so you don't want to be lost.
Rowyn is a complicated character and has really grown through the series. She continues to surprise and I look forward to more adventures with her.
Kim Richardson did it again. Just when you think there couldn't be anything else to keep your attention, she went and grabbed you into more of the story. I absolutely can't wait for the next book. As you can see I am reading them faster now because I just can't help myself, I need to know what happens LOL
Book 5 is another fantastic continuation of this amazing series. I absolutely enjoy reading how Rowyn continues to get herself into danger and out of danger. She is one crazy badass heroine.
This is another action packed story full of nail biting suspense! Highly recommend this series to anyone!
I felt this book actually the whole series, going through some of Rowyn self reflection and feelings helped me relate to her even more. The twists in the plot line just had me at the edge of my seat.
This series has been extremely enjoyable from the very first page to now. I’m so thankful to have found this and by such an amazingly talented author. Snarky, fast paced, great characters within phenomenal world building.
This was an awesome book. Still a lot of fighting, conflict and will Rowen ever catch a break. Thankfully she did. Glad I stuck with the series. Love Gareth. He is my favorite character. Hope to learn his complete story.
This series is definitely addicting. I can’t put them down. Rowyn is incredible. She has a real knack for getting herself into trouble but also getting out of said trouble. Simply amazing!!
Another fantastic book in an already amazing series, I really enjoy reading about this world and there fascinating characters, I'm looking forward to reading the next one in this series.
The supernatural prison was awesome. Nice change of pace there. The climax was a bit of a letdown because Rowyn needed to be rescued. I would've preferred it if she found a way to save herself. But I'm never bored with this series! Definitely still enjoying it.
sempre al centro dei problemi, stavolta dovrà cercare di liberarsi del dono di "paparino" non senza incasinare se stessa e i suoi amici. avvincente, dissacrante, con momenti romance e altri col fiato sospeso. leggetelo!
