**Authors This is a Valentine's Day themed novella. For longer mysteries, try other works by Necole Ryse.** True-crime addict Brianna Coleman wants nothing to do with Valentine’s Day. Her nurse switches her Single & Sexy ticket to his name in hopes that spending time outside of the hospital will distract him from his problems. When a blizzard blows in, trapping Nate and Brianna inside the luxurious P Hotel, their weekend gets a little more…sexy. And when a body turns up things get a little…sinister. Can Brianna solve the crime and get the guy before the killer gets away?
I had to remind myself that this is only 40something pages so instalove is kind of necessary. Unfortunately though I hate instalove so I still struggled with the fact that Nate sees Brianna for the first time and immediately starts thinking about fucking her. Then when he sees Evan talking to her assumes she's in a relationship but still follows after her. I also just really hated Evan and the way he was super condescending and thought he was entitled to Brianna.
But I love the Criminal Minds references! And while the novellas may not be for me, I'm interested in her full length novels.

Deliciously quick paced and funny with a hint of spice. This is a NTMA and I enjoyed this book immensely. Brianna was funny as hell and Nate was quietly engaging and I really did not see that ending coming. Can’t wait to read more of her work.
The was definitely a cute and quick mystery read. It was spicy and then BOOM here comes the murder. I think I'll definitely be picking up other books by this author.
This was super cute and I read it during my lunch break so I can go and tell people that I read a whole book during lunch. Thank you Necole for making me feel like the shit.
I absolutely loved this and it packed a lot in under 50 pages. I wish it was a little longer so I can know a bit more about the murder's motive. The dialogue was super funny and relatable. I laughed long and hard about this line "I have to get the fuck up outta here before Evan comes back." We meet Nate and Brianna (not Bri) at a speed dating event. They're instant sparks between them (along with a mild concussion after literally bumping into each other). Even a murder didn't damper the flames that were building between the couple. Brianna is a true crime addict and immediately latches on to help investigate who the killer is. I absolutely loved that we're able to see how devoted Nate is to his Nona. Once again thank you Necole for highlighting that it's okay for men to be emotional. Brianna is clearly an alpha heroine and I like that Nate essentially lets her lead however he is also protective.
We definitely need more black women in cozies. I've already pick up the rest of the short stories.
What should be a fun sexy speed dating weekend ends up in murder. This novella was funny because we all know a Brianna. She watches too many crime shows and would rather be doing that then meeting these busted men. Until literally walking into Nate. Like I said it was funny and quite possibly the best novella I've read in the series. Nate and Brianna had an easy chemistry. And I loved that Nate is close to his conspiring fiesty Nona.
A roll of the dice for Romanceopoly brought me to this read. I didn't realize how short it was, but it helped me realize I don't actually enjoy cozy mysteries. If I can't buy the reason the main character has to investigate, the whole book is annoying.
But the writing was good. She built a pretty full world in these few pages.
what a fun novella! i really fell for Brianna and all the characters. Brianna's friend who we only meet via a phone conversation is freaking hilarious and i'd love to see a novella jsut for her!
While this is wayyyyy too short (a novella, I know) I absolutely loved the authors relatability and sense of humor. I am looking forward to reading the other two books in series.
This was a fun, steamy, little holiday-themed whodunit! And since I can't just start reading a book in the middle of a series (even if they're stand-alones), I started with the Valentine's one (since it's the first) so I can work my way through the other books to the Christmas one! 😅
"he's just inches from my mouth when I can smell him. Not his cologne, but his skin, the sweetness of his skin ignites something inside of me and I free fall into a place I've never been before."
I truly enjoyed reading this murder mystery novella. It was fun, suspenseful, and kept me on my toes. I can't wait to see what Necole Ryse puts out next! I would recommend this to anyone who wants a quick ready, but also something different.
For a novella, this wasn’t bad! Was it predictable? Yes. Was the love story a bit too quick and unbelievable? Yes - but given the length, I thought the author did a really good job writing this. A perfect little quick read to put you in the mood for Valentine’s Day, and a fun concept!
