Each volume, I fall more and more in love with all the characters and the sheer simplicity of how their individual personalities are drawn out in just four panels. I particularly love that the manga isn't stagnant and does show the characters growing up but still managing to keep the characteristics essential to them intact.
The extra bonus stories were also hilarious and I am already regretting having only one more volume left to finish in this series, but re-reading is always an option!

volume 3 wasn't quite as funny as 2, but I still enjoyed it. Sakaki is featured less which could be my problem. I do like the dynamic between Miss Yukari and Miss Kurosawa. I can relate to Miss Yukari's views of being an adult.

If you know me at all, I love fall and winter. Seeing characters with hilarious rapport trying to execute a project together has comedy that just writes itself. The girls seem to have come into their own as characters a bit, but it’s still very much an ensemble piece/
This volume moved really quickly because the sequences were the most defined so far. There’s the sports festival, the Halloween café contest, and finally, winter holiday. It continues to charm, and I’m thoroughly entertained to the point of me being sad that there is only one more volume to read.

I always found it fascinating that the years progress with each volume. Pur characters are getting older! We even see them have birthdays. For any manga, this is unusual, but for a brief gag strip, it is bewildering. It gives a further sense of growth and development, despite the fact very little of that is actually happening narratively. I suppose it is a neat trick, but more likely the creator, Kiyohiko Azuma, knew they didn't want to do these for the rest of his life, or for the content to get stale and unfunny (as in Garfield and the like), so there was always this final moment coming. Like a show, enjoy it while it lasts.

You know why this series is so great? Because all the characters are either relatable or just plain funny.
For example, after working my way through college, I can relate to Yukari’s attitude toward money. I also relate to Sakaki’s height and quiet nature. Yomi’s sarcasm and sass is also relatable. Even Chiyo is relatable because I was the smart kid growing up and even now I have random knowledge about random things that make people think I’m super smart. In reality, I just shut up and pay attention.
This series has 4 volumes.

A reread.
After reading the third book, I realized the plot of this manga is static. New year, new year dream, new semester, summer break, sport festival. They are the same from the first and second books but of course it's different story from the previous volumes.
From their first grade until last grade on high school, it feels like we actually there watching them spending their school life from beginning until the end.

Still mostly loving this revisit to Azumanga Daioh, but this volume was definitely a bit of a dip. The characters are still great, the tone is timeless, but man this volume has an unforgivable amount of Kimura. He was a blight on the series at the time, and his presence has aged horrendously. Sending Kaorin to his class was an especially cruel choice on the author's behalf. A shame, because I still love everything about this series, but.... man.

More Azumanga adventures as the girls approach their final year. We finally see more of Chiyo chan’s “dad” and boy is that cat fun. The manga actually improves a lot here and situations seem a bit funnier from the previous books.

Azumanga Daioh, Vol. 3 is another fun-filled adventure following our favorite high school students and teachers as they finish another school year. This volume takes us from September through May with yet another amusing Sports Festival and an even more hilarious School Festival. You can always count on these wackadoodles for a laugh-out-loud good time.
The space cadet, Osaka, really steals the show in this volume with all her nonsensical wonderings. Osaka is blissfully ignorant. It sure would be easier to be that simpleminded. I felt nostalgic seeing Osaka in the Ultraman mask. She is such a goofball. I love her remedy to Chiyo stressing about time. Hey, at least she tried to do something to help. Also, her sneeze is adorable.
Numbnuts! Some of the funniest moments in this volume happens when Tomo, Osaka, and Kagura are together. It is especially funny when Tomo and Osaka attempt to use their brains together. Maybe even a little scary. Tomo telling Osaka that she has a nasty heart had me cracking up so much my sides hurt.
Tomo is such a punk, but that's what I love about her. She is a rowdy troublemaker, who never thinks before she speaks but it's strangely part of her charm. The scavenger hunt race with Chiyo needing Tomo to complete her mission is hilarious. I feel that Tomo will grow up into a Miss Yukari. These two are so much alike, it's no wonder Miss Yukari "often speaks ill of Tomo."
No volume is complete without crazy Miss Yukari getting in on some of the fun. Yet another reason to love Miss Yukari is that she is always thinking about food. From Korean barbecue to ramen to soba to getting sloshed . . . having a good time is always on her mind. She's my kind of girl. And I just love her carefree teaching style:
There are some other really funny moments in this volume as well. Sakaki versus the cats and her visions of Daddy Santa had me in a giggling fit. The dream sequence with the penguin, the mechanical pencil incident with Kagura and Kaorin, and Osaka's thoughts on kidnapping is pure comedy.
My one and only gripe with this volume is that Tomo's new 'do makes me confuse her with Kagura. If you ever get confused trying to tell them apart, Tomo is usually drawn with her ears showing while Kagura is not. Their hairstyles are far too similar and since they're both numbnuts and say the silliest things, it's hard to decipher the two.
With only one volume left to go, I have conflicted feelings about starting the next volume. I am excited to see what hilarity will ensue during their senior year, but I will be sad to see them go when this series comes to an end. Ah well, I'll just have to hunt down the anime!

The dream sequence early in this volume is one of the funniest things I've read in a long time. I DARE you to look at the expression on the penguin's face on page 78 and NOT laugh.
The jokes are a delightful blend of schoolgirl humor and laughing at the fact that these characters somehow think it is funny. They're at the age where randomness is the absolute height of humor and randomly hitting and shoving your friends is HIIII-LARIOUS. I don't think that stuff is funny and when I see a teen like this in real life, I roll my eyes. On these pages, though, the randomness is funny, but also seeing the characters laugh, and be lame, and roll their eyes at each other is very funny too.

In this third installment the group of friends are getting ready for their final year of high school together. There's talk of college plans and preparing for their final exams. Even though it's a time to get serious about the future these girls still have as much fun as they can together during their final year. They get to go on a class trip where Sakaki finally gets to pet a cat and it's a wild one too! While having fun everyone is trying to decide where they want to go and what they want to do with their futures. But they don't worry too much about it or let it stop them from having the time of their lives!

A 4-koma manga filled with comedy and craziness. Very random.
The comedy is classic, and just hilarious. That's what drove me this far into the series, and I wish it didn't have to end at 4!!
Every strip has comedy in it, whether you realize it or not, marking this book as down right comedy.

This is such a great book! I didn't learn much from it but it's a great read that anyone would enjoy. The Whole story revolves around a 10 year old genius in high school named Chiyo Chan. The author does great drawings and has a great idea about life in high school for this book.

azumanga daioh continues to be hilarious. highlights from volume 3 include dream chiyu-chan's penguin helper who knocks things down. and of course sakaki's relationship with cats will never cease to amuse me.

This was another cute addition to the series. I actually laughed out loud at one point, so the series is definitely getting better as it goes. The translator's notes are also interesting and informative. I'm looking forward to volume 4.

It was alright. But I have to admit, it was almost funnier than the first one. And I love Sakaki and Chiyo; they're my favourite!
