The Lost Colonies of Ancient America: A Comprehensive Guide to the Pre-Columbian Visitors Who Really Discovered America

Rate this book
Was America truly unknown to the outside world until Christopher Columbus "discovered" it in 1492? Could a people gifted enough to raise the Great Pyramid more than 4,000 years ago have lacked the skills necessary to build a ship capable of crossing the Atlantic? Did the Phoenicians, who circumnavigated the African continent in 600 bc, never consider sailing farther? Were the Vikings, the most fearless warriors and seafarers of all time, terrified at the prospect of a transoceanic voyage?

If so, how are we to account for an Egyptian temple accidentally unearthed by Tennessee Valley Authority workers in 1935? What is a beautifully crafted metal plate with the image of a Phoenician woman doing in the Utah desert? And who can explain the discovery of Viking houses and wharves excavated outside of Boston?

These enigmas are but a tiny fraction of the abundant physical proof for Old World visitors to our continent hundreds and thousands of years ago. In addition, Sumerians, Minoans, Romans, Celts, ancient Hebrews, Indonesians, Africans, Chinese, Japanese, Welsh, Irish, and the Knights Templar all made their indelible, if neglected, mark on our land.

About the author

Frank Joseph

Frank Joseph is the pen name of Francis Joseph Collin, a former activist with the American Nazi Party/National Socialist White People's Party and the founder of the National Socialist Party of America. In 1979, Collin was convicted of child molestation and sentenced to seven years in prison, and he lost his position in the party.

Upon his release from prison, Collin reinvented himself under the pseudonym of Frank Joseph, a New Age writer and a pagan worshiper. In 1987, he had his first New Age book published, The Destruction of Atlantis: Compelling Evidence of the Sudden Fall of the Legendary Civilization.

He wrote articles for the magazine Fate, and between 1993 and 2007 he was also an editor of Ancient American. This magazine focuses on what it considers to be evidence of ancient, pre-Columbian transoceanic contact between the Old World and North America, with the implication that all complex aspects of North America's indigenous cultures must have originated on other continents.

"The only thing new in the world is the history you don't know."-Harry S. Truman

Just in time for Columbus Day, a book that debunks much of our preconceived notions of American history, including that Columbus was certainly not the first "Old World" explorer to reach the Americas.

"The question is no longer 'Who discovered America?' Thanks to Frank Joseph, the question is now, 'Who didn't discover America?'"

While understanding Columbus is still a part of the dialog and story of America, this book does a great job at laying out all the evidence and artifacts that have been collected and known about for years, even from the 1800's and on, and letting the evidence speak for itself.

A must read for anyone interested in archeology and anthropology this book is one of my new non-fiction favorites and would be a great read together with 1491, The Americas before Columbus by Charles Mann.

Up until recently, much of our historical record and dialog, and much of what was and is taught in schools is based on a prejudicial and racist view that is based on the idea that the only real prehistoric societies and technologies came out the establishment of Western Civilization and the Middle East. This is simply not so and kept many scholars from truly investigating the evidence that they found, as they were berated, banned, ignored, and deliberately forgotten about. It is good to see main-stream archeologists and anthropologists changing and opening up to the idea of prehistoric global trade, exploration, ocean voyages and various migration groups at various times. This book showed me how America is and was truly a melting pot of cultures going back to the beginning of recorded time. Very interesting!

Of course we all know that Christopher Columbus did not discover America. It's been well known that the Norse were visiting previous to the Spanish and shown that the Chinese and even the Africans had visited as well.

This book offers theories and proof of the many civilizations and peoples that visited America or the "New World" before Columbus. The book puts forth the proven thought process of visitation by nearly the entire known world. It appears that countries far and wide had visited, established towns and/or started trading with the many inhabitant of the New World.

I found this book interesting but also a bit dry, like a text book at times with the way the information was presented. However it is full of theories and evidence that will make you think about the many civilizations that visited and the remnants they left behind. The influence they had on the New World. The world wide trade routes that existed centuries before Columbus navigated the ocean blue.

Bottom line: chock full of interesting and thought provoking information for any history or geography fan.

Very Well Written & Thorough

This was a great read. It's very well laid out and based on facts, not just opinions. I know extremely little about history however I've taken an interest in it as of late. This books was easy for me to jump right into and understand. I knew a little about the Norse artifacts we found in America but had no idea of the plain massive amount of evidence showing Columbus was not the first to discover America. Everything was backed up with references and facts that can be checked. This book changed my entire perspective of our world and helped me to learn more about our history along with the history of other cultures and colonies. You MUST read this book! It's truly a necessity.

Thought I’d read this for a laugh. Then I found out the author Frank Joseph, is a pen name for Frank Collin; former founder of the National Socialist Party of America, an offshoot of the American Nazi Party. And he’s a convicted pedophile

One of the most comprehensive guides to the absolutely undeniable fact that there were numerous cultures who not only found but lived here in the New World long before Christopher Columbus. Frank Joseph breaks down the numerous cultures that occupied North and South America long ago. From the Sumerians, Egyptians, Romans, Hebrews, Chinese, Kelts, Norse and the Knights Templar as well as numerous other cultures, the author takes you on an artifact based journey. There are numerous items that leave little doubt about pre-columbian visitors such as: The Hearn Tablet, The Lexington Tablet, the Magra Fuente Bowl, the Arizona Hohkam Labrinth, the Utah Plate, the Wisconsin Oil Lamp and of course the most popular Kensington Rune and Bat Creek Stone. Along with the proof of shared languages, DNA and even rare HTLV-1 viruses. Despite all of these facts, main stream Archaeologist still refuse to believe in that anyone was here before Columbus. Most of the academics consider the items discovered as hoaxes without ever even laying eyes on them. I suggest everyone read this book!

Did sailors from other continents travel to the Americas before Columbus? We know for a fact that they did, but prior to the discovery of L'Anse-aux-Meadows in 1960, the official answer would have been NO. Since that time, Viking settlements and artifacts have also been found in Nunavut.

Would it really be so shocking to find a larger Viking presence here? Or, since we know the Vikings made it, and did so regularly, that others may have as well? It's only common sense to acknowledge that it is possible, but did it happen?

Frank Joseph presents compelling evidence that it did. Archaeological evidence, combined with DNA evidence suggest that the Americas were important trading sites for such ancient peoples as the Minoans, Phoenicians, Chinese, Hebrews, Japanese, etc. Does he correctly interpret the evidence? That, I can't say. But it's interesting to contemplate.

An extremely interesting look at the evidence for per-columbian visitors to the shores of North and South America. The book has chapters on each of the following: Sumerians, Egyptians, Minoans, Phoenicians, Romans, Kelts, Hebrews, Africans, Japanese, Chinese, South East Asians, Norse, Knights Templar and Christians.

Lots of information , gives a good start to research and look up on your own to confirm what he brings out in his book. Makes you think about why mainstream science is afraid to look into these findings that mr Joseph points out, true or false.

I initially found this book interesting. However, I did some basic research on the author and was absolutely appalled by his biography. I strongly urge readers to take a look at this and decide if they can stomach his views and his crimes (for which he has been convicted).
