What would it take to awaken the fury and passion that lies sleeping in the heart of the volcano?
Always underestimated, Hephaestus, Lord of the Forge, has been passed over and forgotten too many times. He’s always been willing to fade into the background, content to support his family in their search for their sparks. But when the opportunity to prove himself to his father appears in the form of a quest to break the curse that has held the gods of Olympus captive for centuries, he is the first to volunteer.
Marco Silva is on a different kind of quest -- five years ago, his twin brother, Julio, disappeared without a trace and even though everyone believes that he’s gone forever, Marco isn’t convinced and he’ll do anything to discover the truth. But what Marco doesn’t know, is that his twin brother was beloved of an immortal god, and that his own future is about to change forever.
The Fates have been listening to Hera’s poisonous lies for centuries, can Hephaestus convince them that things have changed, or will the gods be doomed to their punishment forever?
Eternal Fire is book 6 in the New Olympians series. 40,000 words, with a guaranteed HEA featuring a difficult omega and a shy alpha-god to claim him.
~ NEW OLYMPIANS ~ Book 1 ~ Lightning Strikes (ZEUS) Book 2 ~ Rip Tide (POSEIDON) Book 3 ~ By the Book (HADES) Book 4 ~ Swift Wings (HERMES) Book 5 ~ Marble Heart (ARES) FREEBIE ~ Immortal’s Wish (Holiday novella) Book 6 ~ Eternal Fire (HEPHAESTUS)
This was definitely one of my favorite books of the series. The dynamic between Hephaestus and Marco was totally different than any of the others... mainly because Hephaestus never really thought of himself as a god and Marco had pretty much given up on living at all. Due to all that, plus the death of Marco's twin while giving birth meant this book had to be very different. I loved the appearance by the 3 Fates... it was really well done. All in all this was a truly fun, full of action, snarkyness (is that even a word?) and of course hot god on sexy man times read!!!
Even though the story was short, I loved it. There was romance between MCs but I would say it was not the most important theme of the book. This was a God's journey to prove himself, to feel worthy and to find acceptance and a mortal man's attempt to get closure he was denied.
Hephaestus aka Theo is not looking for his spark because he does not think he deserves one. All through his life he never felt equal and accepted among his fellow Gods. When there is a chance for him to show that he is of value, he takes it. What he does not know is that the spark will find him. I really liked Theo. He, despite his lack of self value, was the kind of man who would go out of his way to help. He is innocent in many ways but wise beyond his years in others. His loyalty is tested between helping a mortal and getting the answers he desperately needs.
Marco is desolate. He grieves for his lost brother yet can not accept that he is gone. He drops everything to go back to the last place his brother has been and look for answers. I tried to understand his anger and near obsession since Julio and Marco were twins and had a very strong bond. But Marco's stubbornness at times baffled me. He wanted to know the truth but was not ready to accept it. I forgave him later because grief made him even more unreasonable than usual, and he himself finally saw how he was hurting those who were close to him and decided to close the old chapter of his life for good.
I think Marco and Theo are perfect for each other. While Theo might be physically strong, he has that kind of innocence and softness that needs protection. He needs somebody to SEE him, to VALUE him and show him he is worthy. Marco is very assertive, he gets to the heart of the matter. After he finally accepts that Julio will not be back, he welcomes Theo. He is very patient with him. There is no insta love here. When the book ends both men are just discovering how they could be together. Marco lets go of his previous life and regrets and embraces Hephaestus/Theo and every part of him.
The story itself is quite interesting. The culmination of the story is very bright, use of myths brings Ancient Beings into modern setting, and author adds their personal spin on events and gives them new quirky traits that I really liked. I highly recommend it! Copy received for my honest and unbiased review.
I have really, really loved this series - what a great combination of taking the Greek gods as we know them and giving us a yummy modern day twist with some mpreg along with it, too.
This is Hephaestus' story, and I have been looking forward to his own story for several books now. I loved how he's just seeking acceptance and some equality, that he yearns for love and his own spark even though he thinks there isn't one out there for him and he doesn't deserve one. Ugh, he just makes my heart break and I love characters that can do that.
Marco is looking for his twin brother - Julio, who we saw in Ares' book, and he is determined to get answers on what happened to him. On his travels to Greece, he meets Hephaestus/Theo and the two journey together for the answers that they both seek.
The author has done a great job weaving in the gods and goddesses, the Fates, all of the familial ties and backstories, and I have really, really enjoyed reading this series. I think she said that this is the final book, but there may be some new ideas, and I truly hope so. I also wouldn't be opposed to little follow ups with these couples. I felt like in this story the romance took a bit of a backseat to the storytelling and the journey, which is sometimes fine, but I wish we had gotten to see a bit more of Hephaestus and Marco as a happy couple.
I can't wait for what this author will think of next, looking forward to it! I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
the book had started so great at the beginning, but then the end was not developed, too hasty, leaving important parts... what a pity, it could be an awesome final book....
This is the 6th book in the New Olympians story. I enjoyed the short story because of the depiction of Haphaestus...kind, considerate and innocent-like. I will say Marco annoyed me with his quick temper and rash to judge, but understood Marco was "at the end of his rope" so to speak being overcome with grief, sadness, pain, sorrow and anger. Here are a few thoughts after the book: 1. The book felt too short 2. Quick turn around of Marco's emotional state 3. So much talk of Julio in Ares' story and here with Marco's painful emotional journey and get the reader does not get the payoff of Marco seeing Julio. 4. The book ended and Marco didn't meet his nephew not did the reader get to experience Marco's arrival to Olympus. 5. I know Zeus acknowledged approval of success at Haphaestus' quest, yet the reader didn't get the satisfaction of how Ares and his brothers treated Haphaestus for untold ages in an apology or acknowledgment of success or allowing Haphaestus to stand up to them letting them know their taunts were at an end 5. Have to admit that Ares' story in last book evolved the cruel edge he had when finding his spark, yet this book, for me, undid this with his action and cruelty. I know...Ares...God of War 6. Is this the end of the series since Hera is now alone and decreed forever banished, lost her title and unforgiven, oh and, the curse is lifted with the Dates now favoring Zeus again

This is a new author to me & I was pleasantly surprised plus impressed at how well this short but intriguing MM romance. It is about: Greek mythology & gods set in a modern era. The plot is well-written & interesting. The main characters are quite well-developed & they display realistic & believable emotional feelings according to the circumstances they find themselves in. There is: a Lord of the Forge on a quest to the “Fates” (Hephaestus aka Theo), a man on the hunt for the truth about his missing twin brother (Marco), his missing twin brother (Julio), twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, gods, goddesses, demigods, humans, the three women of “Fates”, curses, betrayal, doubts, grief, anger, memories, a quest, destiny, a chance meeting, discovery, confusion, disbelief, sarcasm, dreams, strange encounters, conflict, shock, emotional turmoil, attractions, promises, verbal banter, contentment, happiness & some steam. I would recommend this book to people who like to read this genre.
Great ending to a fun series, but there were unanswered questions
I find it odd that the Fates, who gave the whole tapestry of life before them, weren't aware of the new threads appearing in that tapestry, and what they meant. I was also surprised that we learned about a defection in this story that I wasn't expecting. And I have to ask, was the stone at the end of Hera's knife like Sauron's ring - she had poured all of her power into it?
I feel that there are still unanswered questions with, what I assume, is the final book in this series. Where did the knife come from? Why would the goddesses who didn't ally themselves to Hera have stayed away from Olympus during this time? What prevented Zeus, or any of the other goods, from having another Athena out of his head, if children were desired? Why did Haephestus need a sign of the Fates' decision, and what significance was the token that they gave him for Zeus, and the others, to accept it so readily?
I love Greek mythology and find it terribly interesting. That's part of the reason that I like these books so well. You get the whole Greek mythos thing going on, then you get the great story going on, with fascinating characters and a fun premise.
I've actually been waiting for Hesphestus because I always thought that he was so lonely, I mean, look at the fact that his wife was given to him in a not nice way, and then she ran off with Ares the whole time.
It's even worse for him in this story, but that's OK, he meets Marco and all of a sudden, everything changes.
I thought that this was a beautiful story of loss and love. Both Marco and Hesphestus know what it's like to be alone, so to find love is precious.
I can't wait to see if there's going to be more of the books, because I need so much more.
A wonderful series about 6 Ancient Gods who found their Spark's, or second chance of happiness and true fulfillment with a single Perfect Mate! A mere mortal for each one of them, takes them into a new and completely fulfilling eternal relationship, after being cursed by all of the goddesses that had been repeatedly cheated on by their mates ! The curse was flawed and after centuries of suffering and complaining their 'true spark', or true eternal mate is revealed to them to save from a grisly death at the hands of the lower goddesses, being themselves pushed by hera, the queen of the goddesses! Very intriguing m/m action, especially when you consider the mortals are in their 20's and the gods have been around for 'centuries' already! Talk about 'experienced daddy types, without the daddy action, actually!!!
Book 6 in this modern day Olympians series and the gods have decided to send an emissary to the Fates, as they are the only ones who could lift the curse, Hephaestus volunteers to go. Marco is grieving his brother Julio, he's doesn't believe that he is dead, he won't believe it, when their paths cross and the Fates are involved things will change. I really ones this one in fact I think it's my favorite one , I loved the fact the the God was shy and a virgin, where as the mortal is feisty, confident and so passionate. I do hope that this series continues as it is a fun fantasy read.
I would say that this book is about finding yourself. It is about having confidence in being who you are. Being worth more than you think you are. Finding out who you are and accepting yourself.
Marco had a plan for his life, but now everything must change. Hephaestus doesn't think he is worth much. These two learn a lot about themselves and each other in the short span of time they have together.
I liked that the characters were expressive in their feelings and troubles. I do wish that more time was spent on them as a couple. It would have been interesting to see reactions to Marco once he arrived in Olympus and his reaction to his family.
I have been looking forward to reading Hephaestus’ story. I just knew I was going to love him and I did. I related to him and how he struggled to fit in. I didn’t like Marco as much. He just wasn’t a particularly memorable character. I was hoping Hephaestus’ mate would be loving but his bitterness was a bit overwhelming. This is not a stand alone story, so you should start at the beginning with Zeus and Cameron’s book. The story arc over the past seven books was wonderfully concluded and I’ll definitely read the series again. I’m disappointed there won’t be anymore books. I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my honest review
I received this book by the author and this is my honest opinion. Book 6 and we've got Hephaestus turn, the blacksmith of the Gods. This wasn't your conventional pairing, which I loved as Hephaestus or in this case theo although alpha is more naive and innocent and the omega is the more knows what he wants. Theo has issues of self worth so is Not actively seeking his spark because he doesn't think he's going to get one but fate has a different idea. Loved the interaction between the characters, where we've got gentle and fierceness. Short but packed a punch. I love this mythological series
Eternal Fire by CJ Vincent is the sixth book of the New Olympians series. It is a great addition to this great series. I loved Marco and Hephaestus and their interactions, how alpha God is shy and virginal and the omega is strong, and determined. The story ties everything up well and I loved how the story unfolded. There was some sad moments but also sweet and definitely sexy. Definitely satisfying.
I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
Alright, I have read this whole series and at the end of the last book it looked like it was being left open and I was glad that this book seemed to close out the series nicely (maybe, who knows). Unfortunately, there isn’t much to see these two actually build a relationship like we get to see in the others, they are just brought together by chance.
I have liked this series idea however I hate the repeating between the books and how hypocritical the goddesses were. I felt for Hephaestus and how ridiculed and isolated he has become from his family. He finds acceptance with Marco and Marco is able to find somewhere that he feels he belongs and closure to his brother’s death.
I received an ARC of this book and am giving an honest review.
This is the sixth book in The New Olympians Series. A fascinating book the writing was good. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters likeable. The characters were developed and thought out. Hephaestus and Marco are the MC’s of this book and mates. I can recommend this book as a good read. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
The books in this series are hit or miss for me. I didn’t really like the first two but I loved Hades and Ares books. I think the main issue is how short they are. This book especially would have been so much better if it were a bit longer. Marco goes from angry and unbelieving to calm acceptance in the matter of a few sentences. Hephaestus was very sweet in this book. I did enjoy his journey for the most part.
Marco was full of anger and despair, and my heart felt for him. On the other side, Hephaestus was so focused on proving himself and showing his family that he was so much more than they thought, he broke my heart too.
I loved how they felt each other but never really realised or wanted to see what they were meant to be.
I loved the ending and the resolution to the curse.
A great addition to a wonderful series that I am really enjoying. I was so glad to finally get Hephaestus' story and I'm so glad that he plays such a vital role. This book is about so much more than his romance and love with Marco, it's mainly about Hephaestus' journey to finding and proving himself. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
The final story in this series did not disappoint. It was a another wonderful merging of the world of the gods and the human worlds. Hephaestus is the final God to get his spark when he finds Marco. They came together after some personal growth and learned confidence. It was a decent ending to a wonderful series, the curse finally is broken and the gods all got their spark.

The god I’ve been waiting for! I loved this so much and wish it could’ve been longer! Oh I can’t wait to see what happens to them in future books! Hephaestus’ book was by far my favorite. Just perfect.
The author has written another fantastic, poignant, powerful, bittersweet, grab-you-by-the-feels, smoldering, and engrossing story. The twist on the classic Greek pantheon is fresh, original, and totally unexpected. I loved it and can't wait to see what happens next.
I think Hephaestus is my favorite character in this series. He was picked on his whole life, and always seeking acceptance from everyone around him. He didn't believe he would have a spark BC he didn't feel worthy of one. I loved his innocence. I wasn't ready for his book to end.
I like that Theo was such a shy and unassuming person. But Marco really annoyed me with the fact that he demands truth from everyone but he cannot face truth when it smacks him in the face. But then again that’s just me.
Pobre Hefesto. Todo fue bello, me quedé con ganas de conocer la historia de Apolo y los pensamientos de Ares respecto a Marco. Sin embargo, no me quejo.
