In You #2

Trusting in You

Rate this book
Chuck ~ I’m blah blah blah Chuck. I may have the job I love, but everything else about my life is… well, boring. I don’t hook-up; I don’t do drugs; I don’t over-drink; I play by the rules. And the man of my dreams is unattainable. He’s gorgeous, stoic, and calls me Chuckles. He’ll never see me as anything but the kid he’s known since I was in high school.

Nathaniel ~ I’m happy with the life I have, but my past is something I’m not proud of. I do my best to protect those I care about with leverage only I have. That still doesn’t mean I’m good enough for someone as pure as Chuck. I see the way he looks at me, and if things were different… but they’re not.

What happens when one man’s get-out-of-trouble free card is no longer enough? Will he run like he has in the past or will he trust the person he admires most? Can a man who’s never seen a bit of trouble a day in his life devise a plan clever enough to save the life of the man he’s always loved?

Sammi Cee was raised in a family of readers. Summer vacations consisted of a good book while sitting lakeside from as far back as she could remember. After growing up and having her own children, her appreciation of how the written word could transport you on an adventure, bring you to tears, or give you hope, took on a whole new meaning.

These days Sammi is watching her children develop into fine young ladies while doing the things she enjoys most: drinking coffee, eating chocolate, and writing her own stories.

Chuck has crushed on Nathaniel since he was 18 or 19, he also thought the older man was straight. Now he’s older, and after an unexpected hand job, which is one of the hottest sexual experiences of his life, he his determined to get his man.

This is book 2 and while not necessarily, I strongly recommend reading the first book before this one.

Overall I enjoyed this story, and I will be reading more, but there wasn’t anything to make it stand out or memorable.

Childhood crushes rarely turn into the romance of our lives and this certainly seems to be the case for Chuck...or is it? While unloading all his personal angst during an emotionally driven conversation Chuck reveals enough about himself to have Nathaniel taking a closer look at the man he's held just out of reach. Neither man thinks they're good enough for the other and as they navigate the difficulties from Nathaniel's past bleeding into their present, both realize just who they are and open the other's eyes to the true worth of a person. If they can survive the crazy they just might finally be on the same page, enough to reach for the future they never dreamed they deserved.

Chuck was endearing and quirky and had a huge, soft heart when we met him in Mixed Up in You. Getting to know him a little better here was both enlightening as well as disappointing. I liked that he never lost his sense of humor, the banter between him and Julian, and his tremendous capacity to love and forgive. What didn't thrill me was how immature he seemed and his incredibly misplaced sense of personal value. To consider himself blah because he doesn't have the stories or experiences of a recovering drug addict or a man with ties to a violent drug dealer? I'm not buying it. It cheapened who I felt Chuck was and that disconnect between those different sides of him was too much for me to believe.

Nathaniel was similarly conflicted. I thought he was more even-keeled and his path to redemption and discovering his own worth was admirable as well as good, but it was a bit lackluster. There was just no crescendo. Many times there was a hint at more nefarious dealings of his past, but he was really just an innocent bystander in the wrong place at the wrong time. Nothing he personally did was enough to warrant the angst and self-imposed separation from Chuck over the years.

Together I thought they were cute and sweet and had the drama supported their growth, this would have been a really great story. As is, it was a nice story that introduced us to a new character that I'd like to see in a continuation as well as giving us more of Julian, the star of the series for me.

Sammi Cee's Trusting In You, the second book in the In You series, is a whole lot of fun. Reading the first book, Mixed Up In You, is definitely suggested.

It's a quick story of two men who secretly are attracted to one another, but struggle to do anything about it.

Chuck and Nathaniel are complete opposites. One's a straight laced teacher, while the other has lived a dangerous and reckless life, doing whatever it takes to provide for himself.

One of my favorite parts is Nathaniel refusal to let Chuck look down on himself. Another is the hot hook-up that changes everything. Personally, I enjoyed this scene, not just for the heat factor, but for the reason it happens.

Trusting In You is an enjoyable story of realizing that it's time to put one's past behind them and start looking at the future. Sammi Cee delivers this tale with just 88 pages. It has a fast pace, good character development despite the length of the book, some action, and some steamy moments. Overall, it is a tender and meaningful story that's a satisfying read.

This book had a promising blurb and I was curious about it, it didn't say you need to read the first book in the series to read this one BUT I felt like it was leaning on previous event too much. I was mostly confused at the beginning when time jumps in the plot line had no indication, and there is something that I later figured out happens in the end of the first book. It was not written clearly, and the entire book felt very rushed, just throwing words and plot lines in there with not clear intention.
I also could not relate or like Chuck at all! he seemed OK at first and then he started going on about how boring his life is in comparison to his fest friend , a recovering drug addict, that was kidnapped and almost died! I mean, really? is that the kind of action you need to feel like you are alive? He also lamented his lack of sexual adventures...I was just really confused by the emphasis he put into these things any why he later put his life at risk quite stupidly- to "tick that box" in a way.
Nathaniel was a bit relatable, but mostly I didn't like him at all too. The drug dealing plot line was very cliche' and extremely unbelievable.
And most of all the book was just not written well, too much going on in too little time...
Really tried but I was struggling not to DNF more then a few times.

After running with the wrong crowd when he was younger Nathaniel thinks that working hard is all he deserves and so lies low keeping his head down. Chuck has crushed on Nathaniel for years but only seems to have a friendship with him, but while eating together Chuck unloads and reveals far more about himself and Nathaniel has to decide if he should run or admit that the sweet man he adores is worth fighting for.

I enjoyed this story where Nathaniel finally saw Chuck as someone who was there and worth fighting for as more than a friend. Chuck was an adorable man who you just wanted to hug and give cuddles to whereas Nathaniel was not the impersonal automaton he appeared but actually just needed to give himself permission to pursue something more than friendship with someone. Easy to read, feel and understand this was a book about connections and being clever in how you use those connections. This was an MM story with mature content.

Trusting In You bY Sammi Cee is the second book in the In You series. It is the love story of Chuck and Nathaniel.

Chuck has his dream job but is bored on all others of life. His dream man is Nathaniel, who calls him chuckles and who he believes will never see him in that way. Truth is that Nathaniel does see Chuck in THAT way, but doubts he is good enough for him. But when Nathaniel's past comes hunting for him, Chuck might be the only one he can trust to help him escape the danger.

I love this book. Chuck and Nathaniel are great characters. I love how they interact... its sweet but just enough sexy. The story grabbed my interest and kept it throughout. Definitely satisfying read.

I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation

4* Just for the dirty talk.

This is the second book of the In You series and as I hadn't read the first book I wondered if I would be able to make sense of it, I am glad to say that you could dive into this one first as things are explained, Nathaniel's role in the first book is fully realized as we go back to the beginning of his story as this book is all about his and Chuck's relationship.
Chuck believes himself to be boring and his life is lacking that epic tale to tell, his long term crush on Nathaniel is now being reciprocated when Nate's past comes back to haunt him. Because of past decisions Nate doesn't feel worthy until he is made to realize that maybe he doesn't need to make up for the past.
There is plenty of dirty talk in this but the bed scene seems rushed or flat a bit disappointing really but on the whole a book worth reading and I'm going back to read book one now.

This was a really enjoyable, quick romance.
After getting a hint of the connection between Chuck and Nathaniel in book one, I was looking forward to their story and Sammi didn't disappoint with another wonderful couple of MC's with enough background to be interesting and make them seem more real. The attraction between the two was well written and their interactions were sweet. There was a good story line, adding a bit of drama and bringing the two together, allowing something to develop.
It was great to read Julian, Vaughn and Jack included and I'm hoping I know what character will be get their HEA in book three.
A recommended romance which can be read as a stand alone but I think you'd get more enjoyment knowing all of the characters involved with the story of Julian and Vaughn in Mixed Up In You.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

Enjoyable...looking forward to more in the series

I enjoyed this second book in the series, third book for me in this universe. Book two builds on/continues book one in terms of timeline. We get a little more background on characters we met earlier. Chuck and Nathaniel were prominent characters in Vaughn and Julian’s story and here we get their story. We also get another character introduced who could be the subject of the next book?

The storyline here is a bit thin and there’s a lot of build up to the characters getting together. The crisis moment seems a bit too easily resolved and like it could way too easily backfire...still could given that things are left hanging. I felt like the story was unfinished, too many things left too vague.

Chuck thinks his life is boring because he's always been the good boy, but Nathaniel knows that's not a bad thing at all. Nathaniel has had an exciting life, and no one needs to have an exciting life like that.

I mostly liked the story. I did like Chuck, most of the time, but I thought that his feeling that he needed to have more excitement in his life was a little much, especially when it came to who and what he was comparing his life to. Aside from that, he's a fun character.

Nathaniel is a really good man, I think. He seems to do what he can to help people.

I felt like there was something a little more that the story needed, but I'm not sure what it was. I did enjoy it though, and that's the important thing.

Quick

This is a nice continuation for this series. This time we have Chuck and his long time crush, Nathaniel. One thing that Chuck didn't know was that Nathaniel had a crush on him as well. These two are pulled together and it might finally be their time to be together.
I liked the story. You get a lot of ground covered for length of the book. Time skips in the story, but it is there to help paint a picture of the times the characters have had meaningful interaction together.

I received a copy of this book from LesCourt Author Services. This is my honest opinion and review.

It was ok but

Didn't really do much for me. Don't get me wrong I do like the characters but the storyline just wasn't all that original or make much sense . You have these big intimidating men and they act like little woman and afraid of a useless drug dealer that is constantly doped up. All that's really needed is a good ole drug bust or an overdose and the guy is done. His wife could have made that happen. There were so many different directions this could have gone in that would have made this story better and make the look and sound like the big men they are supposed to be.

Although this is the second book in the series it can be read as a stand-alone as I have yet to read the first.
Chuck has idolised Nathaniel for forever. His long time crush, someone that seemed so far out of reach.
So when things move beyond friendship one night in a car park, Chuck realises he may soon get the man of his dreams!
But Nathaniel thinks he isn’t good enough. Because of past actions, he tries to right his wrongs to be a better person.

The pull these two had was magnetic! The chemistry and attraction has always been there as they both crushed on one another.

I enjoyed the story line. It had so much going on, but it flowed well.

I was excited about this follow-up to Mixed Up in You, but I didn't end up liking this book quite as much. The story was good, and I liked Nathaniel and Chuck, but I didn't feel their connection as strongly as I wanted to. (This got better by the end of the story.) There are some good conversations and fun sexy times, and there is also some absolute horror. I enjoyed seeing the characters from the first book, and I will read the next installment. This wasn't my favorite so far, but it still kept me invested in the series.

I loved this story. In a few short pages it has a bit of everything. Action, (not so) secret crushes and sexy times (I mean, the scene in the car while they're driving to Bubba's...).
The plot is interesting, with Nathaniel having a past interacting with drug dealers, that comes back to bite him, and Chuckles is just the most adorable guy ever, totally NOT blah!

This book was the perfect continuation of the series. We finally get to see the sparks between Chuck and Nathaniel! This books has it all a little danger, a little sadness, and a lot of happiness. I am very happy with the way this book ended and hopeful that there might be another book featuring Gerald!

Oh, I am really enjoying the stories I have been reading from this author. Though I have to keep in mind that I don’t get to see as much of the relationship building as I usually like.

I enjoyed Chuck’s enthusiasm for life in Mixed up in You and was so happy to see him finally get his love returned. But man Chuck will stand his ground when needed and I think that helps a lot in his relationship with Nathaniel. Though I didn’t feel as much of a connection to Nathaniel, it felt as if he was still holding himself back a bit. I think we get an idea of who could be in the next story which is great and I can’t wait to see these guys all return.

I received an ARC of this book and am giving an honest review.

I thought Trusting in You was a good follow up to Mixed Up in You. I loved Chuck. He was just so cute, definitely not blah. Nathaniel was a nice counter to Chuck. I liked that they cleared up some stuff and their romance was sweet, if it took forever to get there. It was an enjoyable read and I recommend this book.

Fun and sweet continuation

Sammi Cee writes the next book in the “In You” series with a lot of heart. Chuck and Nathaniel are sweet and I love seeing them learn of each other’s mutual love for each other.
The author’s writing style is easy to read and flows quite nice.
I hope to see Gerald’s story in the future

Also, Nathaniel is hot when he describes his uh needs to Chuck.

Believe

For a not so long book, it was very long on emotions in the best way. I was curious about Nathaniel’s journey and was glad we learned all about him. He needs hugs and Chuck is just the guy. I loved Chuck’s attitude. He’s silly, brave and goes after what he wants. These two made me smile and I’m so happy they decided to eat at the diner.

Wasn't as good as the first one, but still good. I felt like the author could have gone into more detail about how the two MCs were pining for each other for years, just to make it seem more believable, but overall I liked this story. And besides that one random murder, these drug lords are pretty tame. I am very interested in seeing how Gerald is doing now so we'll see what happens.

Sweet

This book is sweet, adorable, and the MCs respect each other no matter how long they have wanted one another. Nathaniel and Chuckles are perfect for each other. They compliment each other and they both know what the other needs, once they stop fighting their feelings. Sammi Cee did an excellent job with this book. It’s a 5 star ⭐️ rating from me 💜

I Recommend not reading as a stand alone, as I think the story would be much richer if you had the previous knowledge of the prior story. The pacing of the story is very fast because it’s a novella, but the characters are compelling and this could have easily been a full length story.

I was so glad to see Chuck get some happy ever after. He was a great friend to Julian, and I loved his character. Nathaniel was so secretive in the beginning, but I loved how comfortable he felt with Chuck, and I loved how he finally let his guard down. I am enjoying this series.

Great sequel

Just as good as the first book. Like books that have reoccurring characters. Hope there is a follow-up book to this one.
