Taking a Chance on Love

Olivia thought she was marrying a widow with four children. What she found were four orphans and their uncle, whom seemed to hate her on sight.

Mrs. McKenzie writes stories with compassion, heartache, and undying love. This one does not disappoint!

Chance- brother of the "groom" and
Olivia- has very little trust in men.
I enjoyed reading this captivating story that is fantastically written with charismatic characters and dialogue. Their story has a wonderful and somewhat tearful HEA.

Reviewed at Historically Romantic

I was drawn in and held captive by OLIVIA’S OBLIGATION from the opening paragraph to the final page. It is an emotional story on so many levels, a tale of strength, stubbornness and being able to create something new from shattered dreams of what was. Olivia faced some very large challenges. She’d thought she was making a business arrangement marriage only to discover that once she arrived in Creede, Colorado everything had changed. She’s faced with the care of four adorable, confused children, building her school and facing a very rude, opinionated, suspicious man who will not back down from his beliefs that only he has the true information about their new circumstances. I adored Olivia and the children – Chance, well, I never warmed up to the man even when he started some much-needed changes in attitude. I wish I could have liked and even understood Chance… but I did not and didn’t even want to try to see his side of things for he was simply so obnoxious in his attitude.

I enjoyed my time in OLIVIA’S OBLIGATION very much and would not hesitate to recommend it to any Western Historical Romance reader. There is a connection to Ms. McKenzie’s Brides of the Rio Grande series – and I immediately started that series for I’m curious as to the other ladies stories as well. This is a major part of my enjoyment of multi-author long series, discovering new to me authors and intriguing stories is a very nice added plus.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

How do you trust someone you just met?

Chance and Olivia end up getting married to take care of Chance's four nieces and nephews. Olivia's fiance, who was also Chance's brother, passed away while she was traveling from New York was his mail order bride. Chance distrusted her and didn't want her to be in charge of his brother's children. However, Chance's brother made it impossible for either of them to contest his will, so they needed t figure out how to make it work. This is a beautiful story about learning to love and trust someone. I highly recommend reading this book.

I love this cover. What a truly delightful story. At 25 Olivia has become a mail order bride. She will travel to Creede, CO to meet him and his four children. On the train there, she has a run in with a very rude man. Turns out he is also on his way to Creede, CO. What follows is heart wrenching and wonderful and humorous all at the same time. I loved reading this wonderful story of Olivia’s journey through her time of finding who she is and why. Can’t wait to read another one of her books. Recommend reading.

Wonderful read

A very creative series. Multiple authors came together to create a wonderful series by using every letter in the alphabet to name their characters and tell their stories. Parts of this story will bring tears to your eyes but no spoilers from me. I highly recommend you read this story and the others in this series. Crafty idea to amuse us readers

This was a different kind of a storyline. Olivia entered a business contract with a gentleman to be his children's nanny and he would finance the building of the school. Circumstances happen before Olivia gets to Creede and she finds herself signing a whole new contract with his brother. Does this new man want the same thing she does, or something more?

Olivia's Obligation

Great storyline& absolutely greater characters. Deceased Christopher took care before his death to see that his four children would be cared for after his death. Enter into the story a mail order bride & his own brother to have the makings of a book not only worth reading, but one to enjoy reading.

Determination

For a young woman, growing up
In a orphanage, stability and Family
Meant everything to her.
Then the day came to strike out on her own, with a promise in her heart
And an obligation to keep.
But fate had other plans for her,
As a mail order bride.
Thank you ❤

Olivia's Obligations

What a wonderful, heartwarming book. I loved Olivia's and Chances story. They butt heads from the moment they meet and continue to do so, through much of the book. They are both denying their feelings for each other. Read this sweet story to see how they finally have their HEA.

Very good

I enjoy all of this series, some more than others. This isn't the first to show a strong, independent, intelligent and beautiful woman. One who doesn't believe love is for her. These are my favorites. Thank you Ms. McKenzie for your awesome storytelling.

An Unusual Book

This book has a different twist than the others in this series. It reminds me of some of the classics like Jane Eyer but with a different way to write it. If you are into the classic romance genre I would recommend it.
