The Lone Wolf’s Wish by Lisa Kessler Sedona Pac series 0.5. Prequel and bridge from the Moon series. Paranormal wolf shifter romance novella. Shane is searching for revenge for the death of his pack by a Nero assassin. He finds his mate instead when he’s shot in wolf form protecting a human veterinarian. Piper doesn’t know about wolf shifters but she does remember Shane from years ago.
A fast moving story that takes elements and characters from the Moon series to start the Sedona series. Piper sees a wolf get shot and then finds Shane has stitches that’s she knows is her work. There is more in the world than human and she’s about to find out. Edgy and sexy hot plus finding a place to call home, whether that’s a place or a person, or maybe both.
Having inhaled Lisa Kessler’s Moon series, I was greedy to get my little paws on this one when I discovered it leads us into her brand new spin-off Sedona series. And whilst reintroducing some familiar faces from the Sedona pack, this shorter outing focusses on veterinarian, Piper and lone-wolf, Shane—childhood sweethearts who soon realise the feelings they once had for one another are as strong as ever.
...everything was fucked up the second I stitched a hole in a wolf’s leg, and then woke up to a naked ex-boyfriend.”
For any lover of the Moon series, The Lone Wolf’s Wish is a must-read with the author remaining true to her winning heart, heat and action formula, creating a man who falls hard and fast possessing that delicious alpha edge and pairing him with a lady who is a much the protector as she is the protected. But it can easily be read as a standalone and I’m excited to see what the future holds for the Sedona series.

Lisa Kessler is my go-to fantasy/paranormal author. If I’m in a reading funk, she immediately gets me out of it.
The Lone Wolf's Wish is the first book in the Sedona Pack series. The series is a crossover from Lisa's Moon series. I haven't read any of the Moon series books, but I can say the Sedona Pack stands on its own. Characters from the Moon series do make appearances. So trust me, this only serves to make you want to read the Moon series.
Shane Dodd is the last wolf of his pack. He has tracked a jaguar shifter responsible for killing his pack from Kentucky to Arizona. As he's watching the shifter, he realizes another jaguar assassin is nearby and ready to strike. When a shot rings out, Shane's wolf leaps up to protect Piper Holland. Ten years ago, Piper and Shane were high school sweethearts. But one day in the middle of the night, Piper and her father left town. There were no good-byes. No explanations as to why they were leaving. No way for Shane and Piper to speak to or see each other again.
Now Shane and Piper are back together and they will soon discover the young love they once had still burns hot as adults. They will also learn secrets they never knew about each other. The Lone Wolf’s Wish is a standalone read with a complete ending for Piper and Shane’s story. However, there is an arc that will play out over the course of the upcoming books. This series promises to be full of surprises and will threaten the lives of all the members of the Sedona Wolf Pack.
The Lone Wolf’s Wish is a good start to this new series. It's full of wonderful characters and is a great escape from the real world around us. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
An exciting intro to a new paranormal spin-off series featuring the Sedona wolf pack!
“It was always you.”
Lisa Kessler’s The Lone Wolf’s Wish is an exciting paranormal novella that bridges her Moon series with her new spin-off which features the Sedona pack. Along with some familiar faces from the Moon pack, we are introduced to human veterinarian Piper Holland and wolf-shifter Shane Dodd.
The story opens with lone wolf Shane, the sole survivor from his pack, trespassing into another pack’s territory seeking revenge on a jaguar he blames for slaughtering his entire pack. But, his mission is thwarted when he encounters his human childhood sweetheart. Sparks fly as they touch and Shane instantly realizes that Piper is his one true mate making protecting Piper his top priority. Shane takes a bullet meant for her and Piper moves the wolf who saved her life to her clinic to clean and stitch his wound. However, when Piper checks on her wolf patient, she finds a naked Shane in the cage instead of the wolf she left there to recover. How will Shane explain his presence and the wolf’s disappearance while still keeping the existence of wolf-shifters a secret? AND will this be their second chance at love or will fate drive them apart again?
Shane is a strong alpha male hero and Piper is a talented, confident and caring female heroine. I liked them both from the get-go. The glimpses Lisa afforded readers into their past are fascinating. It is thrilling to find that their chemistry had not abated over the years they’ve been apart. Expect a passionate romance, dangerous suspense and surprising twists with plenty of unforgettable sexy moments that Lisa is famous for!
Following please find a few of my favorite lines from The Lone Wolf’s Wish:
“You’re still the best kisser.” “You make me want to be.” --- “Everything was fucked up the second I stitched a hole in a wolf’s leg, and then woke up to a naked ex-boyfriend.” --- “Family doesn’t have to be blood.”
The Lone Wolf’s Wish is a must-read for fans of Lisa’s Moon series. AND, if you’ve never had the pleasure, it works perfectly as a stand alone read. I concede that I’m a huge fan of Lisa’s books. Thankfully, we don’t have long to wait for the first full installment in her sure-to-be-enthralling Sedona series with Sedona Sin releasing next month!
3.5* Shane's pack was murdered in front of him. He has Survivor's Guilt and dreams of revenge. But things aren't what they seem. Piper was Shane's first love, high school sweetheart. Her family expectantly left town and he never saw her again. Until now. They reunite when he saves her from a sniper's bullet. She in turn stitches him up (as a wolf). This was well paced for the length. It had a good mix of suspense, action, mystery, and romance. Pleasantly surprised.
The last of his pack he is seeking revenge when he finds his past. An introduction to the Sedona Pack series. Lisa Kessler writes such descriptive scenes that the reader feels a part of the pack.
This is one short story in the Fangs Fur & Fa La La boxes set.
I have read everything Lisa Kessler has written, and have enjoyed it all. If you enjoy paranormal stories, you will enjoy this boxed set, as well as the Authors other works.
The Lone Wolf's Wish is captivating and very in depth for a short story. I was hooked from the beginning, and the characters lure you into their world quickly. I look forward to the series that this short story has spawned. Let's go Wolf Packs!
This short novella is a prequel to the Sedona Pack series. The book tells the story of lone wolf Shane, whose pack was wiped out in an attack by jaguar shifters working for the Nero organization. When he chases one of the jaguar assassins to Sedona, Arizona, he sees his high school girlfriend who left their hometown without a word. Piper is now a vet with problems of her own. Piper and Shane are a great couple. They are sweet together. The book introduces members of the Sedona Pack who will hopefully get books of their own. I did not realize the Sedona Pack series is a spinoff of the Moon series. I felt that I could follow the storyline pretty well without reading that series first. I listened to the audiobook version. There was dual narration by Oliver Clarke and Asia King. Both did an excellent job.
I am new to reading Lissa Kessler books and loved this first addition to the Sedona Pack series. Shane and Piper's love story started man years ago, but due to nefarious circumstances, they were separated. Fate, thankfully steps in 1o years later to reunite the couple. It is a time when Shane felt he had no future to look forward to.... only to find that his long-lost love is his true wolf mate! Shane and Piper's characters are so easy to like, and they had really good chemistry, in and out of the bedroom (or kitchen, lol). I would recommend this book.
This is a prequel to the Sedona Pack series. This book has a mixture of a lot of things - a lone wolf, childhood sweethearts who are reunited, assassins, secrets, and much much more. This book was the beginning of the world building, involved a lot of action, and did a good job of setting the tone for another great series by this author. I cannot wait to explore more by Lisa Kessler
This is a quick read and I think the start of a great series. Shane lost his entire pack. While he is seeking revenge, he ends up saving his high school girlfriend, Piper. Piper is a strong women who has dealt with a challenging life of constantly moving. I'm looking forward to this series.
I definitely feel like I could have enjoyed this a lot more than I did. My main problem lay in how reams of information was just constantly stated. Shane's entire first chapter, til he's shot saving Piper, is detail after detail of his whole life story.
Details we will hear multiple times throughout the story as he explains it to Piper. To Vance. To Cole. As spoiler character explains why it had to be done. As Vance summarizes it. As another character asks questions about it.
In short Shane's entire backstory is discussed at length and thus didn't need to be info bombed at the first chapter.
Meanwhile the reason why his Pack was slaughtered and by who is underdeveloped. For various reasons it happened due to what amounts to racism against shifters. For the character it effects (other then Shane) the reaction is underwhelming given earlier assumptions.
Plus, and this is a nitpick, the Sedona Pack problems keep being teased, but Shane couldn't bother to care so nothing ever comes of his musings. If he didn't constantly say "what the hell was up with the Sedona Pack?" I'd care less I think. But because he kept starting and not following up it frustrated me.
Lone Wolf's Wish- It's Christmas time in Sedona and Shane comes to town looking for the murderer of his pack he finds Piper a vet some she always wanted to be. she is the love of his life and his wolf knew when he saved her that she was also his mate. Someone is trying to kill his woman plus a murderer to catch and a conspiracy to solve. Great characters and storyline. Romantic suspense. I purchase this as a boxset. I am providing an honest review.
Plot: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Spice:🌶️ Character development:🌶️🌶️ Dialogue:🌶️🌶️🌶️ **Read/listened ** Listened to audiobook version on Scribd narrated by Oliver Clark and Asia king
A short and sweet story this had a heap of potential for a long novel with the plot - so little sad it wasn’t how ever a good intro into the Sedona pack and the story’s to come I’m excited to start on the rest of the series.
Shane is now a lone wolf his lost all his family and pack. His now out for revenge tracking a Nero assassin he believes was part of the hit on his pack. Piper was his girlfriend from 10 years ago until she suddenly disappeared one day. When there paths cross again a single touch is all it took for his wolf to recognise her as their mate. This book has a plot twist at the end and a family betrayal on pipers end.
Spoilers alert 🔔 I liked that this was a different take on normal shifters romances and the usual shifter rules. For one only men are born shifters and their female mates are human once they find their mates they then need to turn them into wolves with a bite before they can have kids. I also liked that the change was explained as being painful most books just skim over it like the ripping apart of flesh and bones is a walk in the park aha this version of shifting was more realistic.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I liked this prequel to the other two books I read. Shane is a lone wolf after his pack was brutally killed. He finds himself in Sedona in another pack's territory as he tracked Vance who he believed helped massacre his pack. However, when his first love appears here, halfway across the country, and is being shot at, he protects her in his wolf form. She bandages the wolf up but can't figure out how the wolf suddenly disappeared and Shane is there. She soon figures it out and the story her father told her begins to unravel. I appreciated the reconnection story of their romance.
The Lone Wolf’s Wish is a first for me by this author. A definite page turner. Shane, a lone wolf, and Piper, a veterinarian, who haven’t seen each other in 10 years. Fate sure does have a way of bringing 2 people back together. This was an amazing story of lost love and finding a place where you can belong. If you enjoy a great paranormal read this book is for you. Can’t wait to read more from this author.
Lisa Kessler never disappoints!!! Her characters are always SO likable and realistic and her stories are always so gripping and her romance is always so sweet!!! Can't wait to dive further in to the Sedona Pack!!
I read this after reading the first two books in the series and initially believed that I was reading the last book. That confused me a bit but I enjoyed it after realizing that it was a set up for this series.
This prequel was great and really piqued my interest for the rest of the series. I thought Shane and Piper had a lot of chemistry and was rooting for them. If you like wolf shifters and second chance romances then you'll enjoy this book!
This story has several plot twists for a shorter story. I love the fact that Shane and Piper find each other. I can’t wait to read more of this series. I listened to the audio book and enjoyed it very much. #CMCon24
This is the first book of Lisa's that I have read. I'm very much looking forward to a deeper dive into the Sedona pack. The wrighting is smooth, and Lisa's built a group I want to know more about.
While I enjoyed reading Shane and Piper's story, I felt like I was missing something. More like I was late and missed the beginning of the tale. Since I haven't read any of the Moon series, this might be the culprit. And since this is the beginning of a new series I'm sure the future books will fill out the missing pieces.
All that being said; the writing itself was smooth and easy to read. Shane and Piper, we're relatable and kept me engrossed in their story. The narrator did a wonderful job. I would recommend this book to others with the qualifier to read the Moom series first if they want a more satisfying read.
