People, animals, and places, from ancient times to the present, spring to life from these imaginative and entertaining pop-up books. Multitiered illustrations will delight young readers as well as adults. These highly involving books have from five to seven pop-up spreads and, in most cases, one or two action devices on every page.
SO awesome - I am a full grown lady who bought this for its sheer beauty and my general love of the desert, but damn if I didn’t giggle and occasionally squeal with delight as I worked through the book myself.
Creatures of the Desert World is an educational book published by the National Geographic Society. The book teaches children about the different animals that live in the desert. The book covers day animals, night animals, mammals, and reptiles. The book is a pop-up book which easily captures a child's attention.
The set up of the book is very important. The book is pop-up book which brings both the animals and the scenery alive. If the book were two demential and a bunch of words, then it wouldn't keep a child's attention very long, but each page pops out at the reader drawing them in. It also shows kids a better idea of what the desert might look like in a 3D image. It also has many hidden flaps and taps which reveal hidden animals and when the taps are pulled, movement. This shows the read where animals live, and hide from others.
The is actual book is told somewhat of as a story. It tells how the plants and animals act together. The book also acts questions to the reader. It often asks things like can you find this animal. This will make a kid curious to explore the page. With so many things on one page it will definitely entertain a child for more the one read.
My husband's youngest is a preschool manager and has two children, age 6 and 0. I've decided to part with this, and am sending this with him when he visits all his Reno area family next week to share with them, especially the new one.
But she doesn't get it by herself for a few years, because it's a popup book with 3D plus tabs plus flaps, plus text. Her big sister will get to read it first. What a special treat for any lucky child; esp. one who lives in or near the American Southwest.
Beautiful illustrations, pulls, etc made this a wonderful learning experience for me and Parker, not to mention the text. Definitely for any kid who loves sciences, animals, or paper mechanical books.
