I absolutely love this book. It’s hilarious, and it gives you fun facts about Legos. Since I, unlike my family, don’t have every detail of Star Wars memorized, I use this book as a resource when I have questions. (Or when I know my brother will get mad at me because I’ve been asking him the same questions over and over again. 😂) not to mention, I have read it so many times that I have a somewhat disturbing amount of it committed to memory. I think about this book A LOT. When I watch any Star Wars movie, I run through the pages in my mind. I’m going to spill random quotes that I have inside my brain.
Jar Jar: “Meeza so happy to be making so many new friends!” Obi-Wan: “Think I can swim home from here?”
Rebel fighter: “Hey, the princess just told her droid a secret! Can I hear it, too?” Leia: “Er, maybe later.”
Anakin: “This ship is so cool!” Obi-Wan: “Um, right. Anakin, can you even drive?”
Anakin: “We can’t tell anyone.” Padmè: “Oops. Maybe we shouldn’t have invited Threepio, then.”
Luke: “So if size doesn’t matter, how come you had so much trouble with that pillar in episode two?” Yoda: “Ask too many questions, you do.”
Obi-Wan (to Anakin/Vader): “So it’s okay if I take your lightsaber and give it to your son in twenty years, right?”
Padmè: “get him, Anakin!” Anakin: “What do you think I’m doing, baking a cake!?”
Leia (In the trash compactor): “Come on, guys, keep pushing!” Luke: “Pushing? I’ve been pulling!”
Vader: “First there was this pod race on Tatooine…” Luke: “This all seems awfully coincidental.”
I could go on, but these are some of my favorites. If you read this far, thanks! I appreciate it. 😊
I love books like this because they are so good at helping children - especially those who won't read a complete story - to start to read fluidly. From about 7 years up, boys especially seem to love to find things out. They want information. And when you give kids a book like this, at a good challenging level, that's got stuff they desperately want to know, then they will read and read to find things out.
One has to savour the irony that a man notorious for holding Star Wars fandom in contempt has written a book basically telling people what is best about the Star Wars franchise.
If one appreciates that sort of chutzpah from a mamzer such as he, then I suppose you'll enjoy such a book.
Otherwise, well, one can always have emergency kindling if lost on the forest moon of Endor. I can think of no better use for his writings.
A surprisingly irreverent guide to the movies and the Lego sets they have inspired. This book contains a fantastic combination of a rough outline of the star wars story, cool Lego sets and facts about both the star wars universe and the Lego sets themselves, all written with a very dry, sarcastic wit.
As a fan of Star Wars, Lego and Lego Star Wars this was always going to be a winner for my but I'm surprised with how well put together, well written and just downright entertaining it all was. My only complaint is that it's a little light on content, I would have liked more of the comic book style dialog and a lot more information on the Lego sets.
This was a really enjoyable collection of double-page spreads of lego-versions of scenes from the films which together tell the story of episodes 1-6. Throughout are interesting tidbits on the lego versions that have been released as well as enjoyable cartoon speech bubbles giving an irreverent charm to the scenes. It was exactly what it said it was well-done too. It's a quick cheeky look at Star Wars through fun Lego-branded glasses.
Pretty funny throughout! And a quick way to introduce my daughter to all 6 Star Wars movies! Lots of info on the Legos, including serial numbers and what sets to find them in. But the dialogue was what really did it for me, and for her!
