I don't know why I keep expecting continuity when I know I'm not going to get it. Seeing Nicky fall for the guy in the book, I thought: WHAT ABOUT YOUR BOY NATHAN AND YOUR VERY MUCH CANON BOYFRIEND GARY??

If you think she's a player, I can think of Paulina, who had an actual prince from Atlantis fall for her. Then, in the same series of special editions, she and the group's guide were a thing. And in another group of books, she basically snatched away Pam's not-yet-canon boyfriend. And that's not even counting the regular books.

What I'm saying is that I would probably give this pretty mediocre book a higher rating of there was consistency in the relationships and change in the plot outline. Because, no joke, almost all the books go like this: Thea sisters win a trip/go on a trip, Thea sisters get caught up in a convenient twist of events, Thea sisters solve the mystery, Thea sisters win for all time, SISTERS FOREVER + A BRAND NEW FRIEND.

It's dull and repetitive. I know its below my reading level, but I identified this problem when I was in third grade. What I wouldn't give to make all the books as good as the first four graphic novels, where all my basic expectations for this series were met.

If the publishers are reading this, PLEASE bring back the original authors of the graphic novels to do the rest of this series.

*REREAD at 2020*

Okay. I prefer this over Niagara Splash(that previous book). But I still can’t get over the fact that this whole plot feels similar to the Blue Scarab Hunt and the Missing Myth.

But it’s really unbelievable that Nicky is so overprotective when it comes to her friends.

In this book the Thea sisters get to go to Hierapolis a great historic city with a scholarship. So free ride free inn. When they reach they have to help some scientists uncover a hidden treasure in the sand. Piece by piece they start uncovering the artifact. But day by day they are also losing their supplies to find the artifact. Finally they lose one of their crew mates. Then the five mice look all around Hierapolis to find the mouse. So what I like about this book is how they work together and I like the suspense. Only thing is that in most of the Thea sisters book they all have some kidnapping or losing stuff. So it is nothing new that is why I give it a 4 star.

I’m guessing this is when I finished this book because it was over break but I never logged it. I remember it being decent, I always preferred Geronimo Stilton books but Thea’s books are also informative nonetheless. And also you can’t say them girls didn’t live lifeeeee. Likeee

I also remeber Nicki finding her a nice turkish man in this book lolll

Awww another love for Nicky . :3 they made such a cute couple 😍, I though that Akhum was going to say that he was in Love, which of course would be imposible since they have to go back to mouseford academy. 😭😭. Anyways I loved the story , Nicky is my favorite character so seeing more of her makes me glad 😊💓💖🌟🌺🍀🌸

Although the Riddle of the Ruins took a bit to get going, it was easy to finish a chunk of this in my second sitting. I liked how the editors dealt with multiple angles to keep me invested. The mystery wasn't as simple as I assumed it would be on the first page. The side characters were also solid, as was the confrontation. My journey with the Thea Sisters may be coming to an end (part of it's likely burnout since I've read the most amount of this series over this past year compared to the past few school years), yet I'm happy cases like this one are able to breathe a little more life into a series that has felt rehashed more as of late. It just depends on what's done and how it's done.
