My son had tears in his eyes and sat rapt as I read this with him. We have been going through a tough time marked by tantrums, big breakdowns, and lots of anger and crying. He told me this book made him sad and that he felt that way sometimes. In the following days he used examples from the book to tell me how he was feeling. I am so glad I bought this series and look forward to reading more by Joy Berry. As a mom who has read many books on child development, I never thought to get a series to help my child understand what he is going through and I'm so glad this series was recommended to me. I thought the examples in the book were clear and age appropriate. I liked that it didn't seem to talk down to children and it was actually interesting to read.
It sends the wrong messages. As if the kids bother parents. As if getting attention is a favor that parents are doing to them. That is reaffirming why they are thirsty for attention.
Such a great book for kids and adults to read together!! Joy Berry has a wonderful way of bringing things to a kids level to help them understand things better. Sometimes as an adult we forget kids see and process the world differently than us.
Beautifully illustrated to help kids pay attention while learning valuable life lessons!
