This review is only for Reason to Believe by Roxanne St. Claire

Arianna Killian is a TV psychic and hostess of a show called Closure. She engages Bullet Catchers when she begins receiving threatening emails and a scary psychic vision. Chase Ryker is assigned to her case and to say he's a skeptic is an understatement. It doesn't take long for things to get heated, both the threat and their attraction to each other.

This was an interesting story but too short to fully develop the mystery, suspense and romance. Things between Arianna and Chase moved at lightening speed and the mystery was resolved even faster. I enjoyed the story but it was just implausible for the timeframe.

Wow! Three great paranormal/Christian stories are in this book.

The first one is "Deliver Us from Evil" by Allison Brennan and is the longest. It was VERY good. To my knowledge, this is the first paranormal-type story/book she has written. She should do more! Demons, possessions, love, all that is in this story.

The second story is "Reason to Believe" by Roxanne St. Claire and it was one of her Bulletcatcher series! It, too, had the mystical theme, but more so on talking to the dead or "readings" from beyond the grave. It was very good, too.

The third story is "Redemption" by Karin Tabke and was very good as well. Her story was about demons, Holy Trilogy, good versus evil theme. There was quite a bit of bickering between the two main characters that, frankly, I could have done without, but there was a reason for their squabble.

Very good stories and 5 stars from This Reader.

I had read part of the first chapter in this book and was instantly intrigued. It was like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, in book form, and more grown up.

However, I was surprised to find out that this was more than one story. Just when I was totally enthralled with the one I was reading, it ended. Almost too abruptly for my liking. On to another story, same thing, got into it and it was done. Then a third.

I enjoyed all the stories, just wish they could have all been longer!

The only story I even sort of liked was the one from the Bullet Catchers series, and even that seemed rushed through. I realize these were supposed to be shorter stories, but the romance went from zero to sixty faster than a Lamborghini.

**I only read Roxanne St. Claire's Reason to Believe.
I may or may not come back and read the rest of the novellas at another time.

Review for Reason to Believe

”You weren’t paying attention to Protection 101. I go where you go.”

Yes. Thank you. I was wondering about that exact thing on certain occasions (**cough**cough* Thrill Me To Death **cough**cough**), and was delighted that at least someone realizes that bodyguard work does not equate to “wandering off alone on independent investigations” or “asking the bodyguard to go somewhere else because it seems more important”.

The Story in Brief:
Reason to Believe was a decently told short novella featuring Chase Ryker (who was first introduced in the second book, Thrill Me To Death, and actually drew my attention with his subtle, yet charming personality). The assigned principal is a TV psychic, Arianna Killian, who has hired the elite Bullet Catchers because she has been receiving malicious visions of a murder; however, Chase is under the impression that Ari has requested a guard due to nasty, threatening e-mails, which is also part of the problem, but not her main problem.

Someone out there wants Arianna to stop doing her psychic thing, and Ari knows that this person is willing to kill her if she doesn’t comply. But her first hurdle is to figure out how to get Chase to believe that she is truly psychic so that he will take her seriously about this ethereal threat to her life.

Overall Thoughts: Reason to Believe is intriguing and exciting, much like all of Roxanne St. Claire’s works that I have read so far. Well written and decently suspenseful, even if some things don’t make sense, I still find myself properly entertained by each story. This short novella was no different, though I will admit that it was somewhat more exciting than the previous two full-length novels--only the ending seemed to screw up the progressive flow of the storyline for me.

Ari and Chase are both likable, relatable characters; and I love that Ari comes off blunt, straight-forward, no-nonsense, and pretty outspoken. While she and Chase have their face-palm-worthy moments, I wasn't really too bothered by them as I have been for other characters from other books in this series.

The novella presented a sweet romance (though a bit too insta and too abrupt for my liking, but I’ll take it) and a good crime mystery and enough of a twist that I found that I really DID like it enough to overlook the unfortunate ending hour quibbles that surfaced--the closing chapters of this novella felt rushed and made little sense. The paranormal aspect of this book was typical psychic investigation formulas, but an irksome deux ex machina in the last chapter really didn’t do much to help matters.

Nor did the throwing out of “Protection 101” that made me groan and roll my eyes.

Otherwise, I was satisfyingly entertained.

I really wish that I had found this book before I read the 1st Seven Deadly Sins book. I read that one a couple of months ago and felt like I was missing something and really didn't connect with the story. This prequel was just what would have made that book so much better. While I am still not overly fond of the series, this background makes things much more understandable.

The Bullet Catcher story was a fun fast read in that series. The couple had great chemistry and the story interesting.

The last story was a little odd for me. But I did like it enough that I will check out other books by this author.

The Allison Brennan novella is a prequel to the Seven Deadly Sins series, and in my opinion, a necessary read before getting Original Sin. I like the world and characters. The plot was interesting.

The Roxanne St. Claire story was also good, even if the main couple fell in love a little too easy for my taste. But hey, it was a short story. No time to waste, eh?

Didn't even try the last story by Karin Tabke. I tried to read the first few pages and the writing was so poor, I decided not to waste my time.

(This is an anthology.) Deliver Us from Evil by Allison Brennan: A disappointing attempt by Brennan to produce a paranormal story. Evil, death, a female cop who does not believe and a 1Chero 1D who is a demonologist are the make up of this tale. It needs more character history and greater plot details.
Reason To Believe by Roxanne St. Claire: A short story from St. Claire 19s Bullet Catchers series. As always, the short stories are never enough.
Redemption by Karin Tabke: An unconnected tale of good against evil. Not worth the read.

I read this after I read Original Sin. I felt lost in Original Sin and I had hoped this book was going to give me the insight I needed for that book. I got to understand some of the characters, but did it help me with other book, not so much. I still enjoyed this book, more so than Original Sin and now will read the next in the series. I am not a quitter and try to finish I series I start. Hopefully the books will begin to develop the characters better and I will start enjoying them.

I've actually only read the middle story, the Bullet Catcher novella. So my review only applies to that one. It is a nice, quick continuation of the Bullet Catcher series, but it isn't one of the best in the series. It feels a little rushed towards the end and that probably has a lot to do with trying to condense one of her romantic suspense stories down to 1/3 the length.

All 3 of the stories in this anthology were great! Loved Allison Brennan's story. It tied in nicely with the other 2 full-length novels in the Seven Deadly Sins series. I just love her writing! I had not read the other 2 authors before, but I really liked their work and will be looking for more of their books.

There are three stories in this book, all supernatural to some extent. I wasn't overly keen on the first story. It was the longest and seemed to take forver to get through.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Roxanne story and the last author who I had never heard of before.

Loved Allison Brennan's story. It was great to actually read the prequel to Original Sin.

Roxanne St. Claire - If Bullet Catchers is a series . . . I'm going to have to track it down. I really enjoyed this story.

Karin Tabke - This was a unique story.

I was glad to finally read the prequel to her sin series! It makes a lot more sense! It is a weird area to delve into! I can't decide if i like it. Otherwise, the characters for the bullet catcher series was interesting. I may be tempted to pick one of these up some time.

It took me long enough (this book was published back in 2008), but I finally read it. All three stories were good. I really want to read more of the Bullet Catchers series, so it's on my reading list. Allison Brennan's story was good, as usual, despite it being about supernatural stuff.

All 3 stories in single book were fantastic althogh started off slow. Also thought the end was predictable, which in a way they were, but several curve balls were thrown in the mix. Low ratings because same ole types of books and hackneyed.

Meh. Kind of boring. I have loved all of Allison's other books I read but demons, not sure I want to waste anymore time on this series. Read reviews for the next book and I think I'm skipping this one.
