The Four Sacred Secrets will cast its spell on you from the first page and guide you to life in a beautiful state.
In The Four Sacred Secrets, Krishanaji and Preethaji, a husband and wife team, help readers understand four principles for spiritual living. Each section of the book is divided into an explanation of the principle or secret and then details corresponding transformational journeys the readers can undertake to help them internalize and live each one.
"Our goal is to help you awaken to a power that is much greater than any technique you can master — a power that is available to each and every one of us. We need only unlock it. It is the power of a transformed consciousness." pg 2
The secrets aren't really "secret" in that they've been discussed in spiritual texts throughout human history. But each speaks to how someone's consciousness can move away from one's primal state of beauty. The authors believe there are two states in life — this beautiful state of oneness or not being in this state.
The simplicity of this method of teaching is that it is easy to tell if you are in a beautiful state or not. You can feel it. You simply know. It is the state that children walk in. They are themselves, unconditioned by worldly expectations or concerns. It is a state that points to oneness with life itself.
"I want us to be free from the idea that we are separate from one another. Free from the war we feel within ourselves and the world around us. Free from the suffering that makes our lives feel small and meaningless. I knew a beautiful life lived in a beautiful state of being was everyone's destiny." pg 12
The secrets include living your spiritual vision, discovering your inner truth, awakening universal intelligence and practicing right action. The journeys to these secrets are all different, but I think a similar thread runs throughout — observation of current conditions without judgment. If you can figure out where you are and then you can see clearly what's holding you back.
"Our society places a premium on doing, with very little care to our inner state of being. Few of us truly make creating a beautiful inner experience a priority in our lives, choosing instead to live as though our career, performance, appearance, status, or financial security is all that matters." pg 23
This book contains all of the tools one would need to completely transform their inner world, including meditation instructions and mythological allegories.
The authors also share the real-life stories of many of their students, some of whom didn't even realize they were in a state of suffering until they stopped a minute and observed themselves. The type of freedom from suffering that seems to follow these students' transformations is astonishing. If only we could all feel that way, what a different world this would be.
"So many of us have been taught that we must solve our problems if we want to be free of suffering. But the truth is the inverse: If you want to become free of your problems, start by allowing your suffering to dissolve." pg 62
Recommended for spiritual seekers who aren't sure where to start. The Four Sacred Secrets is a good place to start looking.
Thank you to the publisher for a free advance reader's copy of this book. The brief quotations I cited may change in the final version of the book. Expected publication date is August 2019.
The four sacred secrets are not so much a secret but rather concepts that we are aware of but choose to ignore or overlook. The one that I like the most is that it's completely up to us whether we live in a suffering state or non-suffering (i.e. beautiful state), something that I now remind myself daily.
One of my favorite parts of the book - the meditation exercise at the end of each part to practice the secret (which I hope to try soon). What I didn't particularly enjoy in this book (or any of this type) was all the "success stories" of people that turned around their lives with the help of their school. For me, it created the impression like I'm being sold something very transparently.
Initially, I was planning on giving the book 3 starts, because I did enjoy it but it was nothing eye-opening. But seeing how I keep reminding myself of some of the parts of the book practically everyday, I've decided to give it and extra star.
This is more than a book. Although I read it rather quickly - I will be going back to re-read and to go deeper into every insight and practice given.
There are so many self help books out there with strategies and how-to’s but this is a blueprint to freedom from all the junk inside that is keeping me from really enjoying life.
We are not shown by our families or parents, schools or society how to succeed in life without being mise able. We are not taught how to be happy and The Four Sacred Secrets not only shows you the way it gives you the tools to keep doing it.
What a gift. I have shared this with many people and already we are planning a book club where we can join together and read and do the practices and grow together. It is like finally finding the door in a very dark room and letting in the light.
The Sacred Four Secrets---OMG this book is awesome! My heart exploded in warmth---I was so touched!
• Deeply moving. It was so simply and clearly written---I could literally see myself in the stories. When I did the meditation practices---the connection was unbelievable!
• Immensely practical. Loved the inner work that allowed my vision to manifest in the outer world as I did the practices. Many others talk about this---I literally experienced how my inner work manifested my dreams in my outer world. IT WORKS!
• Ground breaking insights There is a shift from how I help myself to how I help, how I live---how I contribute. The approach, the teachings, the wisdom revolutionizes how to live life in a very elegant way. This is the book that answers---WHAT'S NEXT.
What is Life ? We are all busy with our so-called lives, by just going to offices daily, doing some businesses, earning money, looking after parents/children etc.. By doing all these things we forget a simple aspect of life, the real goal - staying Happy, life is all about staying happy, living and enjoying each and every moment in front of us. Preethaji and Krishnaji in this book explain the different ways to achieve happiness in our life. Life isn’t that smooth for everyone, we all face hurdles and many sorts of disappointments in our day to day life. But we need to understand and find out what we truly are from inside, the self realisation is the key to happiness, it is within ourselves. “In the end, only three things matter: How much you loved, How gently you lived, and How gracefully you let go of things not meant for you” - Buddha.
This book is the holy grail to living true to ourselves and our fullest potential of abundance––that everyone must read in their lifetime. Put aside all the self-help books. When most books solve matters from the surface, this book deals with the most crucial aspect: changing our inner world of consciousness to light. It is indeed the brave secret. It is an actual testimony of the saying 'Your outer world is the reflection of your inner world'. I recommend studying this book; I've read it twice so far, and it has profoundly changed my whole perspective on life.
The teachings are simple yet so thoughtful. It will invite you to have a good look at yourself, the life you've created so far, and realize a thing or more while unlocking your truth. It may be hard at first and trying, but only we know what's true for us and can decide to heal ourselves because we owe it to ourselves.
The concepts and learnings mentioned in the book are universal and to the point. The author's higher consciousness and equanimous intelligence come through with the crisp gentle writing. They also have simple step-by-step meditation practices in every secret to help you unblock yourself when going down that path. When reading each section, I had rich experiences, profound realizations in my life that I hadn't known before––gently encouraging me to a beautiful state of inner richness with awareness. 'The Four Sacred Secrets' is an engaging, enlightening, and fulfilling read.
I recommend this book to everyone for the liberation of human suffering and the planet towards oneness.
3.5 stars. I wanted to read this book as it’s written by two people who have based their entire careers on meditation. Meditation is something that I’ve been advised to do several times over the last few years, but I just can’t seem to stick to a routine. Krishnaji and Preethaji are big believers in the universe and positive thinking. While I also believe, I did find some of the advice in the book to be a little off - such as banishing the sadness of the past in order to live in a beautiful state. I’m more sceptical that they believe you can do this with just a few meditations under your belt. Overall a really helpful book, and the peacefulness of the two authors comes across so naturally through the pages.
Thank you to @netgalley and @atriabooks for gifting me this ebook in exchange for an honest review. Out 6th August 2019.
Whether you are new to spirituality or have been following this journey for a long time, this book is a gamechanger. Every Sacred Secret was immensely powerful and inspiring. Krishnaji and Preethaji have an amazing understanding of human consciousness and the book is really well written with many inspiring examples of people who have transformed their lives through these teachings. They offer very real and practical tools that anyone can use for transforming yourself and your life. I loved the Serene Mind practice, a 3-minute meditation that instantly brings peace to my crazy mind! Their wisdom regarding conscious wealth creation is extremely relevant and inspiring. This is a book I will re-visit again and again, I loved it!
After reading in the four sacred secrets, I just sat on the couch and became sooo happy with just seeing all the things I am grateful for. Being conscious of all the gifts we have in life and the conscious decision for the beautiful state is the greatest gift in the world.
I got so happy that I thought, this is what I always had wanted, but I had thought, in order to become this happy, I would need to achieve all kinds of things first....
I realized this is not the case. I have all the happyness, I ever wanted right here, right now!!! What a ridiculous game of becoming we play as a human race, when all we really need is right there always with us.
Thank you Preethaji and Krishnaji for making it so clear and easy to grasp with the four sacred secrets.
I picked up this book because It was "in the vein of the bestselling "The Four Agreements". I liked the exercises and soul sync excercises found in the book. The personal stories added as nice touch and the "Sacred Secrets" were helpful. My favorite part was showing us how to live in a Beautiful state, which I admit is the aim of all the Sacred Secrets, but I liked when they explained what it was.
I would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy free of charge. This is my honest and unbiased opinion of it.
While reading the book, I was mesmerized by the psychological truths that Preshani & Krishnaji laid threadbare. Not understanding these truths caused all our efforts for peaceful and exuberant for us, our family members etc. fall flat to our utter dismay. The book is a must-read for one and all , no exception. When one reads the book, one connects to its deep day-to--day philosophy and comes to realization what is true path of happiness - the beautiful state of consciousness. Thank you, Preethaji & Krishnaji
This book literally gives the secret to how universal consiousness can be used to create the life you deeply desire. I have read many spiritual books but this one i will revisit over and over again becasue of the meditations and processes. It is easy to understand and deeply moving. Thank you to the authors who have given freely this important roadmap to follow. I highly recommend this read.
This book is too amazing, by reading small part, I have the kind of awakes feeling about my life! feeling so much been inspiring to know more about my inner truth! couldn’t wait to read the whole book! Also couldn’t wait for new buying more books to reach my home n send to my friends whom I care for their well being!
Love the simple yet impactful and powerful teaching and so much clarity how to live in beautiful state. Awesome.
Soul sync meditation 100% works on me. Deepest gratitude to Preetaji and Krishnaji for providing such a great meditation. It is now has become part of my daily life practice. 🙏🏻
I liked this book. As far a self- help type books go, it was clear, simple and accessible. I keep thinking about it throughout my day, like is this necessary? Am I putting too much pressure on myself? Live in a beautiful state, take a breath.
This book was really clear and the ideas were easy to implement. I felt a shift in my life by following them. It came highly recommended and it didn't disappoint.
Preeta and Krishnaji give and introduction to their readers about living from a beautiful state of conciousness. A valuable first step to plunge deeper in the oneness philosophy .
I so regret to say: don't waste your time. I borrowed this book from our local library and went through it in one afternoon. The author starts with a story about two monks, 'Yesme' and 'Nome.' Yesme carried a woman across the river. Later, Nome chastised Yesme for having done so. Yesme said, yes, but I set her down awhile ago, why are you still carrying her on your back? This is actually a story from Zen Buddhist scriptures. The 'Yesme' according to that tradition, was a senior Zen Buddhist monk. If you're going to "borrow" from an ancient tradition, be honest and say so. As to the rest of the book, I deeply regret to say that I found it of very little value as to "living in a beautiful state." Just too many side stories of no consequence. But please: why not read for yourself and see if the book inspires you. I will be returning it tomorrow.
One the plus side, the authors have created what they call O&O Academy in South India, to help people in their spiritual pursuits. A brilliant concept: put O and O side by side, and with a twirl you can create an infinity symbol! The main center is called Ékam, which means "One-ness." One of the founders and authors of this book, Krishnaji, states that the center is dedicated to the worship of Hiranya-Garbha, which means "the golden cosmic egg/womb" of creation, derived from the Rig Veda (Mandala 10, Sukta 121). It is one of the myths of creation in the Hindu scriptures. Looks like science decided that the 'Big Egg' hatched into the 'Big Bang!' The organization seems to have become a very successful one, which is surely well deserved.
I lend this book ages ago from the library and just give it a go right now. How surprising that this book is so powerful and I just put it away for a long time. This book made me calmer and realised how wonderful it is to be present and connect to ourselves first and other people. I love that you put how you want to achieve in life in this humorous way "To be a Buddha and driving a Benz with your loved ones" couldn’t be more accurate than this.
The counsel presented in this book was so counterintuitive to so much that I’ve been taught in the past. However, a lot of it rang true for me. I loved the new take on the anxious/ suffering state that we all find ourselves in. I loved thinking about a beautiful state, and I’m grateful for all the exercises presented throughout the book that helped me know how to cultivate this beautiful state. I have a LOT more to learn, but this book was a great place to start!!
This is an amazing book. Always thought spirituality is something one must pursue after 60. Well that was because that’s how spirituality was projected by most people. But this book is truely extraordinary. Made my life simple. What a profound teaching. I loved the insight by Krishnaji that there are only two states of being. Wow! That makes everything so easy in life❤️
The author has an almost poetic way of expressing herself and transmitting her teachings. Her experience and her personal inner work precede her, which underlies her genuine wisdom. Therefore it is a valuable and recommended book. She has an enjoyable video course called "Live in a Beautiful State", on a renowned Yoga and Meditation course platform.
I don't know if it's just not the right timing in my life for me to read this book, but I'm not enjoying the flow of it. I feel like I've read similar books that I've enjoyed better. I might hold on to it and try again later, but this time around I DNF.
Saw this at the library and thought it looked interesting. I don’t know anyone who has experienced unitive visions as much as they say they have and who talks this way about them, or tries to market it. It just felt inauthentic.
