I loved each and every one of these stories!
I’ve always been a huge fan of novella collections, add to that a connection running though all the stories and I’m SOLD!
Each story was full of hope, love, faith, rich history, adorable characters, strong chemistry, adventures and great kisses. 😉
I loved that each story was connected by a family thread, and the heirloom aspect was great!
How each lady was given the cameo was so sweet!
Though they were short I never felt like the storylines were rushed or left incomplete. Each story was cohesive without being identical to the one before it.
It’s definitely going to be a collection I pick up and reread when I’m in the mood for a comfort read.

I really enjoyed this collection of stories.
Each story focuses on a cameo with a rather special history. From Pittsburgh to the Colorado Territory to the 1885 World’s Fair in New Orleans and back to Pittsburgh again, the cameo travels, creating love, romance and adventure.
A gift from Queen Victoria, the cameo is special and each bearer finds the love soon after receiving it. Beginning with Letitia Newton the cameo is passed on to the next, following much prayer and contemplation.
While each story is a sweet love story, each of them also entails lots of adventure and even some mystery. Humor that made me chuckle. It was fun to see who and wear the cameo would go, and just what awaited the lucky recipient.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book; in fact, I checked to see if there were more to come like this...there are!

This book was a pretty fun read. I’m learning that I’m not a huge fan of historical romance, so it needs to be super interesting to keep me hooked. The second story was the most interesting one of the bunch, as well as my favorite. All the authors did a good job with their stories. Although the stories were short (this is a collection of four short stories), I still felt like I got a whole story with pretty well-developed characters. The faith aspects in this collection were not preachy or shoved in your face, which I appreciated. I give this book 5/5 stars for cleanness; 4/5 stars for characters; 4/5 stars for plot; and a personal rating of 4/5 stars.

Novellas are a hit or miss with me. I was fascinated by the idea of family passing down this cameo from Queen Victoria. What adds to the fun of the cameo is that each person is passed to finds adventure and love!
It was quite fun to follow this family through the places and people it traveled. The authors did a fantastic job putting this together.
Each story is short so there were some stories where it felt rushed and I couldn't quite connect with the characters. Overall though, I enjoyed this and would recommend it in a heartbeat!

I loved how unique this set of stories was! The whole idea of a family passing down this cameo from Queen Victoria and finding love and adventure was great! Each story was very original and well written. I really enjoyed following this family through their adventures. I definitely recommend this!

A great collection of novellas that will be enjoyable summer reading for lovers of historical fiction. All four authors have done a thorough job of researching their time period, which spans from 1851 - 1895. (I’ve read other books by these authors and have enjoyed their writing.)
The stories center around a family heirloom, mystery, and romance. A fun set, the characters are well developed and realistic. Starting in England and finishing in Pennsylvania, it was enjoyable watching the cameo travel and link people together.
The authors did such a good job of seamlessly tying all these stories together that I can’t choose a favorite of these four stories. If you enjoy historical fiction I recommend you get a copy of this book, settle back and prepare to enjoy yourself.

Delightful collection of stories around a cameo. This was written by 4 different authors and yet they all fit perfectly together.

A wonderful collection of authors come together to write about one family and a unique statement piece in Cameo Courtships. Cameo Courtships follows the path of a cameo given from Queen Victoria to a young woman from America. As the cameo ventures down through the family, it brings love along with it. As well as a few mysteries of course.
I enjoyed all four of the stories and was already familiar with two of the authors. Now I'm going to have to do a search for the other authors to see what else they may have written that I'll find wonderful.
My favorite story would probably be the one focused on either Pete or the Pinkertons. Both were hilarious. Of course, I enjoyed all four of the stories. Petra aka Pete just happened to really make me laugh. Who wouldn't love seeing a rough and tumble lady in the west after she leaves the polished wealthy life behind?
I definitely held my breath every time the cameo went missing. Who could lose such a priceless possession? Although, if it had been mine I probably would never have even worn it. But then again what is something like that worth besides the sentimental value?
Clara and Byron were meant to be. Just meant to be. I loved listening to their sparring together. And of course, I loved the descriptions of the characters. I'm so glad that Clara's brother was alright in the end.
Something I do wish is that there was some kind of a chart so that I could know exactly who each character was in relation to each other. It was fairly simple to see who Letitia was, and then from her, Clara is her niece, again simple. Petra is Clara's daughter. But I had more trouble with Elizabeth and knowing where she fits in. She's not in the direct line so it's a bit confusing to me.
Bertie as well gave me difficulty. I couldn't place where she came into the storyline. Still, a wonderful story and I lost myself in it not wanting to come up for air or rather to feed the kids or go to bed. Loved the Scottish influence and the generosity to the poor fatherless boys. Now I also want to delve more into the Carnegie Library.
Highly recommend this book and anything by any of these authors. I'd love to see another compilation like this again.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
Each of these stories are centered around a precious Cameo given to Letitia Newton by Queen Victoria in 1851. At the time, Letitia thought herself an old maid, but her mind changed quickly when she fell in love just after the Cameo was given to her. Letitia believes the Cameo is the reason she found her true love, so she wants to share it with others.
Each of the stories were written in a setting with many years between each of them. The Cameo would go to three more people in Letitia’s future family. But it was not always an easy task finding that person. Each story takes readers on an interesting journey to find just the right person for this Cameo!
I really enjoyed this book. With four different stories, I was able to read each one at one setting. The characters created to tell each story were wonderful, and developed so well throughout each of the four stories. It’s hard to pick a favorite, though I did love the one featuring the Pinkerton Agent, because I love any story with Pinkerton Agent’s involved. But they are all such great stories that you don’t want to miss a one if them. So I encourage you to pick up a copy of this book and read for yourself. It will give you many hours of enjoyment.

This is the first Barbour historical romance collection I've read since they've changed the format to just four novellas per book. While the collections have always been written around a theme, "Cameo Courtships" takes that to a whole new level. All four stories are about a single family and a special cameo that gets handed down through the generations. The authors did a bang-up job of coordinating their stories and it reads almost like one long novel. It was hard to pick a favorite, but since I always do, I'll go with "Taming Petra" by Jennifer Uhlarik because I loved "Buckskin Pete."

Diverse stories, all very interesting and spellbinding in their own way. With Christian lessons throughout. Wonderfully written. Great entertainment to get lost in. One of those really good books to curl up with, that doesn't go by too fast and each folds into the next even though they are all so different.

The introduction story of this amazing story collection was so fascinating. I loved that that Letitia met Queen Victoria, in all honesty I was a little jealous. Queen Victoria is my favorite queen and meeting her would have been amazing. Letitia trusted God with matching her with a husband and she was going to wait on the right man, and boy was it worth it.
Pinned Above Her Heart -
I liked how spunky Clara was but at the same time was still very much a lady and sought God in everything. Clara wanted to make the right decision in everything even at the risk of her family name being brought down by scandal. Clara definitely had a beautiful and compassionate heart. Byron was a gentleman in every way, even if he didn't hold the title. He realized he had drifted away from God and made changes to bring himself back to God. He wanted his siblings to have every opportunity and realized that he could still love them even at the risk of loosing them. I loved Byron & Clara's story, I didn't want it to end. I wanted to watch them in their married life.
Taming Petra -
Apparently spunkiness runs in this family! Petra I think might be the most spunky of them all. Petra went west for adventure and found it. She used the skills her father had taught her and made a life. Although she was worried how her family would react to her way of living. Petra never quit doing what was right. Even when faced with an absolutely impossible decision she choose to do the right thing. Dustin was a true man of God. He never doubted God's forgiveness and protection. Dustin grew up with a hard life but found God and changed immediately. I loved how much Dustin loved Petra and wanted to protect her. I didn't want the story to end I wanted to see so much more!

Oh my goodness! The ladies in this family make me smile, laugh and shake my head at all their spunk! Just when I think I have met the spunkiest of them I met a new one. Elizabeth is just so full of sass. I love how she can blend into which ever part of society she wants. She is a very skilled detective. Ethan is an amazing detective and gentleman. He rose above what his father & brother had done and choose to do the right thing. Ethan and Elizabeth make great team and work flawlessly together. I loved watching them get to know each other since they were perfect!
Lending My Heart -
Well the spunkiness has lived for another generation! Bertie is full of it. I was blown away by her spunkiness from the beginning. She has such a big heart! Leticia receives a cameo from Queen Victoria, who tells her that it is not a gift to keep but one to pass on. Shortly after pinning it on she meets the love of her life.
The cameo passes through generations, statelines, and even through the hands of thieves, as brave women follow their dreams and talents, finding love along the way. The cameo travels across the country and even to the World's Fair. Clara, Petra, Elizabeth, and Bertie are all ambitious women who think for themselves.
Petra and Elizabeth's stories were some of my favorites as they had a lot of action. Petra is comfortable in her own skin and doesn't want to be someone else to impress others, Reverend Dustin Owens admires her high standards and her practical sensibilities and offers his help in regaining the family heirloom.
Clara and Elizabeth's stories are filled with mystery, as they seek to expose the truth. I liked the interaction between Elizabeth and Ethan throughout. Clara is very clever and uses her wits to get the next big story.
Bertie is passionate about books, and applies to work as an overseer of the Carnegie Library's children's department. But mistaken identity due to her first name, puts her at odds with the self-made, hardworking Russell Smart. Differences in social class are shown as they figure out how to work together to make the library a success.
Overall, a wonderful collection of novellas all orbiting around the Victoria Cameo as these woman chase their dreams, follow their faith, and find love in these four short stories.

What a cute set of stories!
This collection of stories about a Cameo passed down by Queen Elizabeth herself was so fun!
It was cool to imagine that actually happening, and then to see how the characters acted through their stories was remarkable. Truly a great retelling of a legend in a family tree. Two of these authors were previously unknown to me and now I can't wait to research them and see what other books they have written.
I would definitely recommend reading this book. This is not the first collection by Barbour Publishing that I have read but I will say to date that it is probably my favorite.

This is a nice compilation of stories in which the first person is gifted a beautiful cameo by Queen Victoria in the 19th century. The book then follows each successive person the cameo passes to and their lives and what an impact it has made on their lives. Populated by great authors, it is a fun read to read all at once, or just read one novella at a time to savor it. Recommended.

Beautiful collection, well written and all do each writer has a distinct writing style there is a cohesive theme on the value behind the cameo and what does represent. Strong women that take chances, family center and a lot of history, this a wonderful choice for anyone that likes romance in unexpected places and lovely end

Reading this book was a great way to spend the day. I very much recommend it!
I loved how the stories were connected through generations of one family and one special cameo. "This cameo comes with a story, adventures and even love...." As Queen Victoria said as she was pinning the cameo on Leticia. The love begins when Leticia meets Peter Hollingworth immediately afterward.
There is quite a bit of mystery and crime investigation in "Pinned Above Her Heart" by Susanne Dietze. I really felt the family tension in this story and was happy to see some healing take place. I liked how Clara was reunited with a long ago friend the very day she received the cameo. Theirs is a sweet story.
Buckskin Pete is the next recipient of the cameo, it arrives in Colorado Territory via Wells Fargo just in time for her birthday. "Taming Petra" by Jennifer Uhlarik takes the cameo on a huge adventure. Pete doesn't feel she can be a proper guardian of the cameo, living in the untamed west. She was right, it was stolen before she could send it back to her mother. Still, Pete meets Reverend Dustin the same day she receives the cameo. She is not interested in him at all, though he is compelled to help her when he finds her in the alley seemingly drunk or possibly drugged. His past is an issue though. There is a lot of danger and adventure packed into this novella. Pete is searching for a young girl in trouble while trying to help the girls destitute family. I am tempted to say more but won't because of spoilers.
I liked the surprises near the end. Pete's family reunion is fantastic!
"Meet Me at The Fair" by Kathleen Y'Barbo finds the cameo in the hands of a Pinkerton Detective. Taken away from his work trailing the Diamond Dandy, Ethan Butler is tasked with delivering the package to Elizabeth Caldwell Newton. A fellow Pinkerton who is working undercover in New Orleans. The two met briefly. nearly a year before at a funeral and shared a very memorable kiss.
'Lizzie' has a very interesting and difficult security assignment while in New Orleans. Once Ethan arrives he must lock the cameo in the hotel safe before he can deliver it. It goes on yet another adventure in the hands of a thief when the safe is broken into. Could it be the Dandy taunting Ethan?
I liked the disguise Elizabeth uses in her investigation. I also liked that she used the knowledge of fingerprint gathering and comparing to criminals that she learned while working with Mr. Pinkerton before his death. I loved the secret matchmakers too!
"Lending My Heart" by Debra E. Marvin touched my heart in a special way as it dealt with the Carnegie Children's Library, poor children and a smart young woman who wants to make a difference.
Roberta 'Bertie' Hart does not want to marry the man her father has arranged for her, he doesn't want to marry her either but their families expect it as it will help the business. This makes having the cameo along with the stories of love that come with it, bittersweet for Bertie. She has not yet worn it.
Roberta meets Russell Smart at the library where she is currently a volunteer. She wants him to hire her as director. Despite her qualifications, he does not hire her. He does offer her a small part-time job as his assistant. They come from different worlds but there is an attraction that cannot be missed.
The young boy, Thomas' story broke my heart. It is helping Thomas and his family that open Roberta's eyes to the reality of the working class, living and working conditions. She is clueless when it comes to the everyday expenses required to survive. But she wants to learn. I really liked her personal growth. I also liked how Russell came to terms with his past.
I loved Aunt Aurelius! The appearance of Andrew Carnegie felt very authentic.
The epilogue is a fantastic wrap-up with all the guardians of the cameo.
Again, I highly recommend this wonderful collection.

Story #1: “Pinned on Her Heart” by Susanne Dietze
“Pinned on Her Heart” is another sweet and well-written story by Susie Dietze. I found the plot engaging and the characters endearing. And I absolutely love the history behind the cameo and the specific directions for passing the precious keepsake on to the next deserving woman. I adore the story’s timely message that our journeys on this earth are all purposeful. My favorite moment is when Clara realizes that she is loved and supported by God while she journeys the path He has set her on. She finally understands that God does not make us and then leave us. God makes us all for His purpose. I love this message so much because it is easy to fall into the trap that our lives are meaningless. But God, if we choose Him with our whole hearts, will never forsake us because He loves us. This reminder alone makes “Pinned on Her Heart” a must-read novella!
Story #2: Taming Petra” by Jennifer Uhlarik
“Taming Petra” is an outstanding Western novella. I thoroughly enjoyed the highly-engaging plot and found the characters to be perfectly crafted. And, I love the reminder that our origins and pasts do not define who we are. We may all be cracked pots, but God has great use for us, flaws and all. Dusty, the handsome hero, fears that his grossly humble beginnings and past mistakes make him automatically unlovable. But through God’s purposes for him, and his awesome interactions with the sassy, kind, and beautiful Petra, Dusty realizes that he is exactly who God meant him to be, which is a perfectly good enough man deserving of love. Dusty’s story illustrates to the reader that in God’s eyes, we are indeed all good enough.
Story #3: “Meet Me at the Fair” by Kathleen Y’Barbo
What a fun story! And the characters … I love them so much. Elizabeth and Ethan, the heroine and hero, are two Pinkerton detectives. Both are highly capable, intelligent, and quick-witted. I enjoyed watching Elizabeth and Ethan work together on a case even as deep feelings grow between the two. In fact, the chemistry between Elizabeth and Ethan is the best part of this story. It begins in chapter one with a moment that left this reader a bit weak in the knees and builds beautifully and realistically throughout the narrative. “Meet Me at the Fair” may be one of the most satisfying novellas I’ve ever read!
Story #4: “Lending My Heart” by Debra E. Marvin
“Lending My Heart” is a very sweet story about two very stubborn characters. Bertie continually fights the rigid rules and expectations placed upon her by her extremely wealthy parents and her social caste. Russell refuses to step outside of his expected social status even though his heart is screaming at him to do so. This final story kept me turning page after page because I needed to get to their happily ever after. There were moments my heart worried these two stubborn characters might not get what they deserve — each other!
Overall, I highly recommend Cameo Courtships. It is a sweetly satisfying novella collection that has left this reader with a smile on her face. Purchase a copy for yourself today. You will not be disappointed that you did!

Through all the dangers they learn to rely on God.

“Lending My Heart” by Debra E. Marvin concludes the stories back in Pittsburgh in 1895.
If you love Scottish accents, you will be fond of Russell Smart. He is brought to Pittsburgh to oversee the Carnegie Library and choose an administrator. Roberta Hart is a volunteer in the Children’s department and hopes to secure the job. Ms. Marvin has brought interesting facts to this story. I had no idea that a Carnegie Library was much more than a library. It was a cultural center with a museum that included a dinosaur skeleton!
This was an exceptional story about how two people followed their hearts. Roberta cares about children and their access to good reading material. She is concerned about an arranged marriage that she nor the man involved have a desire for. Russell Smart is a well educated ward of a wealthy couple and is all business when it concerns the library. Coming from poverty, he soon finds a way to help the poor children he encounters.
This was a delightful book with a great storyline that seamlessly fit together.

What a special gift that Aunt Letitia has given Clara Newton! A cameo that belonged to Queen Victoria! Is the legend true that Clara will meet her true love soon after wearing this beautiful brooch? Clara longs to write for a woman’s magazine. Her childhood friend Byron Breaux is a journalist caring for his three young siblings after their parent’s deaths. Can they both benefit from working together on an article that seeks to find out who is behind a theft of antiquities? Will their friendship turn into something long lasting?
Ms. Dietze spins a tale as mysterious and beautiful as the work of art that Clara’ father makes at his glassworks.
“Taming Petra” by Jennifer Uhlarik is set in Cambria Springs, Colorado Territory in 1875.
Buckskin Pete Hollingsworth, really Petra Jane Breaux, is in her element in the West. However, her parents back East are unaware of her cowgirl ways. She is a feminine powerhouse and encounters more trouble when her heirloom cameo is stolen and she has to deal with unscrupulous men. Pastor Owens claims he isn’t worthy of a woman but vows to help Pete recover the precious item. This was a fast moving story that showed how people’s perceptions change. Through all the dangers they learn to rely on God.
“Meet Me At The Fair” by Kathleen Y’Barbo had all the elements that draw me to a story. A World’s Fair in New Orleans in 1885 and Pinkerton Agents!
What happens when a Lady Pinkerton doesn’t use her assigned cover name so her fellow Pinkerton agent, whom she thinks she has never met, tries to connect with her? Let the fun begin! When the cameo goes missing , do their assignments converge? Ms. Y’Barbo concludes with ‘Bent History and Fun Facts in the notes.

What a fun collection of novellas tied together by the theme of a cameo being passed down from one woman to another in the family! All four stories are well-written and feature memorable characters that are quite unique from each other. If you enjoy historical romance, especially in a connected novella setting, you will thoroughly enjoy this collection.
The prologue shows how the cameo came to Pennsylvania from Queen Victoria and how the receiving of the cameo “coincided with the arrival of love” for both the Queen and Letitia who receives it from the Queen. Susanne Dietze expands the prologue in Pinned Above Her Heart where she introduces Letitia’s niece Clara from a well-to-do family and Byron the son of a woodworker who are both trying to make it in the world of journalism. Of course, their re-acquaintance occurs right after Clara receives the cameo from Letitia. There is intrigue and suspense as Clara and Byron play amateur detectives to get to the bottom of a series of crime committed in their town.
In Taking Petra, Jennifer Uhlarik brings together Clara and Byron’s daughter Petra and Dustin who is the new preacher in the small town of Colorado. The cameo arrives at Petra’s doorstep on her birthday while she’s hiding away from family to work in the west as a guide and tracker. Dustin has lived a hard life and is changing his future by taking this minister position in the thriving western town. Both get involved in helping the poor and downtrodden and rescuing those in need.
In Meet Me at the Fair, Kathleen Y’Barbo creates an interesting Pinkerton case involving Elizabeth, Clara’s niece and a Pinkerton agent, and Ethan, a fellow agent who has survived family’s shame and downfall in a money-laundering scandal. They follow their cases and clues from Chicago to Denver to New Orleans in an interesting plot filled with twists and turns. The cameo gets passed down to Elizabeth about one year after she accidentally meets Ethan and it also has a dual purpose in this story.

And the epilogue ties in all the women’s journeys to offer a satisfying conclusion.

Lending My Heart by Debra E Marvin takes us to 1895 Pittsburgh Pennsylvania the arrival of a handsome Scottish administrator ruins Miss Brett’s Harte’s Dream to oversee the new children’s department of the Carnegie Library. But bristly Mr. Russel Smart’s working class determination as well as his love for books make him the perfect partner to help Pittsburgh’s poor, as for Partner’s in life that is far less likely.
The four novellas in Cameo Courtships tie together perfectly. I give Cameo Courtships five out of five stars!

Cameo Courtships is a wonderful collection of novellas centered around a cameo that is a treasured family heirloom passed to four different women. Each of the authors in this collection has done a fantastic job of creating unique stories to showcase the cameo. I loved how the cameo tied the stories together.
Pinned Above Her Heart by Susanne Dietze told the story of Clara Newton and her friend Byron Breaux who work together to try to solve a smuggling crime involving Clara’s family. They each want to write a story about the case to help their careers along but find that collaboration helps with the case and their attraction to each other. I enjoyed the interaction between these two characters.
Taming Petra by Jennifer Uhlarik finds Petra wearing trousers and in possession of the cameo. She has no intention of wearing it, but when it disappears, she need Reverend Owens to help her get it back. This is an imaginative and interesting twist to the history of the cameo.
Meet Me at the Fair by Kathleen Y’Barbo pits two Pinkertons against each other. Ethan Butler is trying to locate Elizabeth Newton to deliver the cameo, but trying to get it to her runs into some difficulties. By this story, I’m beginning to wonder whether the tradition of falling in love while in possession of the cameo is worth all the trouble it causes!

When Scottish Russell Smart arrives to be the administrator of the library, sparks start to fly. The interaction between Bertie and Russell was great fun, and the obvious research by the author into the background of the Carnegie Libraries and the setting in Pittsburgh added such interest to the story. And who can resist a Scottish hero? Not me, and certainly not Bertie!
I thoroughly enjoyed the collaboration by the authors of these novellas in creating a fun backstory for the collection. Each story was well-researched and the stories work well together. It was fun to see some of the characters from one story pop up in another one. I would recommend this to those who enjoy historical fiction novellas.

Cameo Courtships

The woman who gave it to me insisted she knew I was the one to receive it, and she urged me to pass it along when I had a similar feeling as to who the next recipient should be. I believe it is you…”
It is a challenge to bring together multiple authors to share a continued story as is done in this book. I enjoyed all four of the tales shared however. After receiving a cameo from Queen Victoria, herself this cameo is passed from family member to family member and thought to bring adventure and love to the wearer. The flow from story to story worked well. Each story was its own and there was never a dull moment in reading. I found the women’s adventures while wearing the cameo to be not only amusing but inspiring.

“Friends, don’t make the mistake of thinking pride is simply being puffed up with a high opinion of yourself. Many are those who take pride in their refusal to change. It can be as simple as refusing to accept your own value.”

These novellas start with Pinned Above Her Heart by Suzanne Dietze. Before returning from London to Pittsburg in 1851, Letitia Newton receives a cameo from Queen Victoria with the admonition that,”One never owns a cameo…One wears a cameo, enjoys it, but is merely a custodian of it preserving it and protecting it for those who come after.” These stories share four generations of woman who received the cameo between the year 1851 and 1895 then, at the proper time, passed it on to the next recipient. I appreciated the way Suzanne Dietze wrote the epilogue to bring these stories to a close.
In between Suzanne’s writings was Taming Petra by Jennifer Uhlarik, set in Colorado Springs where Buckskin Pete loses the cameo for a time.
Meet Me at the Fair by Kathleen Y’Barbo takes Pinkerton detective Elizabeth Caldwell Newton to the Chicago World’s Fair.

This is such a beautiful collection! First off, the cover is delightfully gorgeous. One you definitely ought to hold in your hands to properly enjoy. ;) I love that the front cover opens to reveal a wider image - so pretty.
The inside stories are delightful as well! Each unique and special in their own right. It starts out with a prologue, showing us how the treasured cameo came to be, and then the first novella starts right away after - and it was so lovely! A perfect beginning for this collection. Main character, Clara, in "Pinned Above Her heart" was so soft-hearted, and Byron was such a great mix of a strong and gentle hero. The faith message in this first novella was refreshingly sweet and I loved how important it was to the story!
The second novel, "Taming Petra", was full of adventure and danger. I loved the main characters name - Petra. So unique and pretty. This story was a Western and it was fun to see how it unfolded. The faith message wasn't as strong in the second novella, even though the hero was a Reverend. The message was still present, just more underscored than the first story.
The third novella, "Meet Me at the Fair:, brought mystery and intrigue. The romance was very sweet and the history fascinating! This novella was clean and enjoyable, though there was no message of faith included which I was rather bummed about. However, it was an engaging story.
And the last novella, "Lending My Heart", was so lovely, with spirited characters and a sweet plot! How its own prologue started out... I was immediately drawn in and the story indeed captured me! Main characters, Bertie (Roberta!) and Russel find themselves at odds upon first meeting, but their relationship is so endearing to watch, and the truths they discovered about themselves were very lovely as well. At one point, Bertie was attending church and the sermon given was beautiful and meaningful. I appreciated that, and really liked seeing how it affected and worked into the character's lives! (Also must note that of course I loved Russel. He's Scottish. ;))
The collection comes to a conclusion with an epilogue, bringing all the characters together, and that was such a nice touch, a sweet ending. All in all a beautiful collection. For me personally, the first and last stories were my favorites!

(Also must note that of course I loved Russel. He's Scottish. ;))
The collection comes to a conclusion with an epilogue, bringing all the characters together, and that was such a nice touch, a sweet ending. All in all a beautiful collection. For me personally, the first and last stories were my favorites!

I enjoyed these stories a lot as they were all interesting, with something always going on! There was a lot of action, some romance, all with elements of faith as they forgive and open their hearts to love, both God's and human's. I mostly liked the characters; the women were strong and stubborn and the men tried to keep up with them, which was amusing. One character made me shake my head over some of her choices and sometimes there was a little bit of confusion for me with the plots but mostly I looked forward to seeing what would happen next and enjoyed watching the characters fall in love. I liked how the stories were connected by the cameo and the characters were related to each other and there was a fun epilogue tying them all together. I also liked a section Y'Barbo put in with interesting facts she found out as she researched her story. Only one author was familiar to me but I'll definitely be reading more by all of them. I recommend this book if you like historical romances.
