Still Waters: A Reverse Harem Science Fiction Romance (Wings of Artemis Book 9) Kindle Edition
by Rebecca Royce
I received an eARC and am choosing to leave a fair and honest review.

There really is nothing like a Rebecca Royce Book. No matter what genre she touches, the product is a diamond.

And there is no series that is more true than Wings of Artemis. The reader gets everything, from passion to pathos to angst to real, independent heroines and sexy alpha heroes.

Amber is finally safe, no longer in the misery that was her marriage. Until her three husbands show up on the Farm. Hunter, Shane and Amari want nothing more than their wife back, but their massive army and fleet might make the difference between death and victory because, when fighting the Evander corporation, those are the only two choice.

Amber is another in Rebecca's long line of independent heroines who have reached their limit and found their courage. She is ready to lay her life down for what she thinks is important, the people of the Farm, her patients or even her husbands. She isn't the 'strong' female who exists to either save her mates or inspire them. Amber has her own ideas for her life and regardless of her sexy trio of brother husbands, she is going to see it through. She is a three dimensional woman in the far future. And I love her!

I also adore her husbands, the Chen brothers, water barons, geniuses, and warriors all. They are sexy and strong, alpha to the core. But they are also at times lost, silly and kind. Enjoyable men who don't eclipse the heroine while holding their own

The plot! OMG! What a plot! The on-going story and fight of the women of the ship Artemis and their families as they fight for the universe! There isn't a slow moment, even tender ones like a family dinner or a cuddle with Applesauce the cat. As the chosen person of a stray cat, I can't help but love the orange booger!

All in all, I can't get enough of this series!

5 stars (more if I could give it) out of 5

This is the first book that I have read from the Wings of Artemis in the series by Rebecca Royce and I found it incredibly intriguing.
The stories tale of a woman’s life that went so horribly wrong she had to fake her death to run away from her husbands. The intrigue and the upheaval of emotions that this book drags from my soul was incredible. Fantastic characters and an incredible storyline had me holding onto the edge of my seat through the whole story, I could not put it down!
Now I need to read the other books in this series. If this one is this good, I can only imagine that I have found a new favorite series.

Amber rocks. This is one of my favorite romance tropes so I loved the storyline. I probably would have made the Chen’s grovel a bit longer and I definitely want some better revenge against the evil MIL. I’m hoping for so more justice in the second book of the duet. I think Amber is one of those characters that has demonstrated immense growth across her story arc and I think the Chens show growth as well. I so hope for a happy ending for Amber and hope Cash can come up with a solution.

Such a great addition to the series!

Amber did what she needed to do when the opportunity arose. The brothers tracked her down as soon as they had any information which shows they at least have some sort of feelings for her. She doesn't believe that they had no idea she was being treated the way she was. Their mother was piece of work and super manipulative. I am looking forward to seeing what comes from them being together.

Amber Delacroix Chen used the Evander bombing of Oceania to escape to The Farm. Reunited with her sister Paloma and her men, she is studying to become a doctor and enjoying each second she can have with her nephew Benjamin. She is no longer at the mercy of the Chen family's abuse and neglect but a part of her heart still hurts, misses her husbands and the life she had wanted with the men she loved. Trying to remember the best parts of their relationship she asks for a favor. This simple favor results in her husbands and part of their fleet surrounding the farm and demanding her return. The Chen brothers, Amari, the head of the dynasty, Hunter, the engineer, and Shane, the scientist have believed their wife to be dead for two years. Now that they know better they will not go another day without her. Amber doesn't understand. She was not a good wife and has the scars to prove it. Why would they even want her back? But the brothers are determined to make her see their truth, to do better, and prove they belong together.

I love the Wings of Artemis series. I love the ship, I love the women, I love their men, and I love the story. Clearly, I was excited about Amber's story and guess what? I loved it! Each story surprises me. The overall story arc is consistent, the previous characters continue to be essential, however, each time a new character is featured, there is new life breathed into this wonderful series. Each one is a continuation yet also completely original. That amazes me. Amber is such a sympathetic character. She has never had a chance to blossom. Held down by controlling parents and nearly destroyed by her marriage she has no clue how intelligent, kind, and capable she is. She is strong and independent, yet she only sees a weak, scared failure. The Chen brothers are water barons, geniuses, and Z warriors. They were also raised to be awful husbands. They don't understand communication or how to love. This led to the near ruin of the most important person in their world. It was hard for me to forgive them as quickly as Amber did. To be so unaware of such major happenings in their empire, in their home was unforgivable. To expect that Amber could speak up or protect herself was unrealistic after her upbringing. I needed more redemption.

The story advanced in MAJOR ways around Amber's personal story. Evander with their continued attacks through, invasions and poisons are making their end move. They will control or destroy the universe. The time for war has come. Never has family meant more. Never has Artemis. I appreciated the acknowledgment for her history, her importance to each individual family and their story. The tears cried, the laughs chuckled, the angry words exchanged, the decisions made, and the lives forever changed. This ship has saved them all. Even with all of the story, this is a character-intensive book. Every past female character appears and has at least one important scene in this book as well as many of the men. The next generation is in full attendance. There is even a cat who has chosen her family. A new mystery character is introduced in spectacular fashion. So much!

I have to talk about the women of Artemis before I end. RR is known for her strong female characters. No one does female better. She sets every standard as far as I am concerned. What made this book so special to me is that these women came together. They supported Amber in every instance. Amber, Paloma, Diana, Waverly, and Melissa all together, women strong. It brought tears to my eyes. This is the true sisterhood. I can't wait to see what's next!

Give it a shot

Amber took a tragedy for most and turned it into her salvation. Using the bombing as a cover, she runs to her sister to hide. She's slowly building her life back. Until one simple little "mistake" opens up all kinds of trouble.
The Chen men have spent time mourning the loss of their wife. When they discover she is indeed alive, they will move mountains to get her back.
Sometimes, we don't know what we think we do. Sometimes, we have to stand for our failures.

I'm going to be honest, I was not as excited going into this book as I have been for others in this series. Maybe because Amber wasn't a huge part of the past books? The reason doesn't really matter because I was pleasantly surprised when I was sucked in just like always. Amber is definitely a character that you can't help but like. She's not like Melissa, Diana and Paloma. She's lead a much different life. But she is still strong in her own way. I really didn't think I was going to like the guys at all but they won my heart over also. It's a testament to the fact that we don't always see what is right in front of our faces. That a little extra conversation can go a long way. In so many instances.

If you have read the entire series, which you don't have to have but it's always recommended, then you know we are getting to the end of things. The war is really gearing up and this book helps us take a step in the right direction I hope. We also get to meet the last lady for the series. Amber still has one more book to go, don't worry. But I always like guessing who is coming next.

So as I said, I was very happy once I started reading and got dragged into the story. I guess sometimes I forget how entrancing Rebecca can be with her writing. Definitely recommend you give this one a shot.

3.0, maybe 3.5? I can't make up my mind. I guess I'll round up.

I started with this book and could follow along reasonably well. Since there were so many men for each woman and all the guys from previous books had to be named it got a little tedious without much gained in this story. Did I miss some introductory scenes of her and the husbands on earth? I'd have liked to see her escape across the galaxy.

I felt like Amber let go of the past too fast when the brothers came for her. How did they not know what was going on, for years!? How did the mother have so much power in the house? I also thought it was odd how the guy got caught hacking and was like, "Oops, I must be losing my touch. Wink." It felt deliberate but was never addressed by any of the other characters.

I didn't like when they went back to earth how she was left on her own and then was called into the auditorium for an apology. In general, the husbands didn't act like they respected her at all. She was still clueless about everything going on around her. At least she was studying to be a doctor. I like that she was working toward a substantial goal and didn't give it up when they came back to her.

Maybe this was explained in another book, but the way her parents were concerned about scandal from her sister and the way the mom wanted pedigree seemed very odd with there being a shortage of women. There was a lot of talk about who was the biological father and the other husbands treated the kid like their own and wasn't that so sweet. It makes sense that the family unit would act like a family, so what's the big deal? It felt like wasted paragraphs unless there was some cutthroat antics between husbands in the other stories I didn't read. And if girls are so very rare, wouldn't they be baby factories until they popped out at least one girl to keep things going?

There is nothing better than a Wings of Artemis book.
Rebecca Royce has spoiled us rotten and she never stir us wrong.
I love the series and each book compliments the series.
We get to see the complexity of her universe along with the complexity of each character and at the same time we get to see the complexity of each group and then as a whole.
A roller coaster of emotions and happenings that brings us to a war about to happen.
Never one to disappoint Rebecca Royce gave us a great story and already let us know which the next lady is going to be.
Amber has one more book to go which i can't wait for .
A great read that is highly recommended!

I love this series, the strong women and the men they love. Reverse Harem was not a genre I thought I could get into. These are the books that hooked me on the genre and I read many now.
In this book we get to know Amber, Paloma's sister, who escaped from Earth during a devastating attack on Oceania. It made it easy for her to fake death so her husbands wouldn't look for her. Her mother-in-law had made her life hell, her husbands hated her, she had to leave or die.

Amber is studying on 'The Farm', under the tutelage of Cash, Dane and Ari. In the past year and a half she's been here, Amber has qualified to be a medic, a job she loves, but her ultimate goal is to be a doctor. It's her birthday and she asks Canyon for a favor, a file on the tablet left behind on Earth. Unfortunately the fetching of the file didn't go unnoticed.

Things get very interesting as Amber's husbands speed to her location, threatening her family and friends. Not that she's having any of that. She has rights here on 'The Farm' and no one is taking them away from her.

Amber stands her ground but agrees to face to face, with her family beside her. The Chen brothers are about to get quite the education and more.

I couldn't put this book down, so much happens as Amber's husbands start really knowing their wife and understanding what she really wants and needs at this point in her life. The Evander threat to not only 'The Farm' but also Earth and the dark planets, is escalating and they have to be stopped.

I really can't wait for the next episode in this on going tale.

I don't think there is one book in this series I haven't given a five star. They all deserve it. I love this series and they will go in my re-read section of my library.
These books have so much to give. This one was just as intense and emotional.
Amber Chen has always done what she was told. After what happened with her sister it was a must. When she meets three guys in an elevator she didn't think anything would happen. But she left a lasting impression on the Chen's, Amari, Shane and Hunter. They wanted her in that moment forever. When you grow up in a rich and powerful family sometimes emotions aren't shown. They had no ideal of the terror their wife was going through, but when she died they knew they made a mistake not showing how they felt for her.
When war broke out on earth Amber took her chance. She ran to The Farm where her sister was. She could get her life back, not live in terror from daily abuse and not loved. She could do what she wanted an study to be a doctor. But she messed up an asked for something she left behind. That caused her new life to shift because now her husbands knew she was alive.
If you haven't read this series you need to. It's better if you start from the beginning because it's like one long story. You will not be bored. You'll probably stay up reading through the night because you can stop reading. I loved this book!
I voluntarily agreed to review this book. My review is my own honest opinion.

Still Waters: A Reverse Harem Science Fiction Romance (Wings of Artemis Book 9) by Rebecca Royce
*I received an ARC of this novella from the author in exchange for honest review*
5 Stars!

Amber was an amazing character in this story. She has this weakness of sorts, a fear of speaking out or in front of others. Through out this book, you get to see that despite her fear, she overcomes it and does what she needs to do. She speaks out against those that harmed her and she speaks in front of a crowd.

Her husbands, the Chen brothers, I was prepared to hate. From the beginning of this book (and mentioned in pervious books as well), the Chen brothers are known for being cold, unfeeling and uncaring about Amber.

And much like Rebecca Royce’s other amazing books, we find out that there is more to this story for the Chen brothers, than originally thought. I won’t mention what exactly- but it did somewhat redeem the characters in my eyes.

As always, it was nice to see little moments with other female protagonists from the series after their stories had “concluded”.

There is no doubt in my mind, that I will be picking the sequel to this story!
Thank you for continuing this amazing series, Rebecca!

Yay!!! Finally we get to see Ambers book 😊. It's not 100% necessary too read all previous books in this exciting, adventure filled series. However it definitely helps with backstory. I loved learning what a dynamic, tough, big hearted woman Paloma's sister is. She fled Earth, making her three husbands believe she was dead. Be warned...if you have triggers regarding abuse, this book might not be for you. We learn quickly just how resilient and smart this amazing woman is. Like in all the ARTEMIS books our characters are thrown into sticky situations filled with adventure and excitement. I for one LOVED seeing the reactions of her men when they learned some dark truths about why she fled. I can't wait to see what awaits these amazing characters as their bond continues to grow. I'm also cheering for the moment when Evander Corp will finally get their butts handed to them. Three cheers for strong women and the men who love them....I'm counting the days for the next installment of this awesome series!!!!

Read it in one sitting, loved it

5 stars because I truly enjoy reading this series. I've read a lot of Rebecca Royce's works and this series is my favorite.

I left my husband in charge of the house, kids, pets - all of it and I read this book in one day. He may have not been super duper thrilled, but a girl has to do what a girl has to do! And for me its reading this entire book as soon as it came out!

Sometimes all the different characters get a little confusing, but it doesn't distract from the story. I'd HIGHLY recommend starting at the beginning of this series.

This was a sweet story of forgiveness and starting over. She picked three VERY hard men to marry. They rule their part of the world with absolute authority. They need to learn to let her into their inner circle & she needs to learn to trust them. They will find their ways back to each other. A little faith, a little love and a little time on the Artemis and this family will find their way home.

Loved it. You should read it. Just do it. Trust me you'll love it. DO IT.

Still Waters Was Absolutely Amazing!

No spoilers of any kind included or I’m going to try not to give away any spoilers that is.
Still Waters was absolutely fantastic!
It was nice to finally hear Amber’s story and the reason why she left her husbands and it was nice to see that she didn’t let the past destroy her future.
And it was also very nice to see old familiar faces in this book because I’ve actually missed all the women and their families.
Anyway I most definitely look forward to the next book in this series because I have to know what else happens to Amber.
Rebecca Royce is an amazing story weaver with how she makes her MCs the perfect blend of vulnerable and kick butt, she makes them perfectly imperfect and that’s why I’m hooked on her books.
So it is a big HECK YEAH I most definitely do recommend this book because I thought it was totally awesome!

I received an ARC copy of this book.

I am so in love with this Wings of Artemis series. I can’t even tell you. This latest book in the series, Still Waters, definitely did not disappoint. After nine books, I really feel like I know and love these characters. It seems that every new character that is introduced just seamlessly becomes part of this extraordinary family. Such is the case with Amber and her husbands, the Chen brothers. I was completely enamored with their love story. Although their journey definitely had some very low points, their love for each other won out in the end. It was sweet torture watching and waiting for them to finally get it right… but it was soooo worth it. Honestly, I can’t say enough good things about this book and this series, and I highly recommend it. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book!

Amber is the little sister of Paloma and she is studying to become a doctor now that she ran a way from earth and the way she was treated there.

The house of Chan Amari, hunter, and Shane 3 of the most powerful men in the second quadrant of earth her husband's the men she she ran from who didn't love her or protect her from their mother. So she is safe now with her sister. Until they found out she was still alive and want to work thing out.
Oh and there is Evander Corp. It's still out to take over and kill people.
Wow what a great story ! Full of action , Drama, mystery, intrigue, spice and so much more. The characters are awesome and pull you in quick. I couldn't put it down and can't wait for the next book to come out. . The whole series is amazing. I am so hooked. Don't miss it. Voluntarily reviewed a copy and I honestly loved it.

Heartwrenching and heartwarming

We met Amber in Ms Royce's previous books. She is Paloma's sister and seemed to have an idyllic life. We had a hint in previous books that it was anything but idyllic. In this book we find out what Amber went through and how she's grown since then. I love that she has intense anxiety and still masters it to be a strong woman. As someone who has anxiety, it can be all consuming. Seeing Amber pursuing what is best for her and not giving up on her dreams and goals was awesome. The Chen men in previous books seemed mean, weak, and like I'd hate them. It was enlightening to have them become real in these books. Real people with real insecurities and drives. This is absolutely one of my favorite series by Rebecca Royce and I am eagerly awaiting the last three books.

Amber is unlike the other woman from the series in that she had a marriage to three brothers. It almost destroyed her and she took the chance she could to fake her death and found a safe place for herself with her sister. Now, all that changes when her husbands come back.

I have really enjoyed the series. I highly recommend it for both fans of sci-fi romances and those who love reverse harems. It is very well written and this story really is emotional to read. Amber survived so much and only wants a chance to be happy. She has a strength that keeps her going. Her husbands are complicated men. I can't wait to read more.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

This definitely not a stand-alone book. There are so many points of the world building starting to intersect along with the different couples, that you should at least read a few before this one. I thought that Paloma and the other women were tough cookies. Amber has them all beat by miles. She is strong, resilient and is finding her way. The depth of Amber is why I love these books and why I hang on even tho I know that the answers won’t come for each women until her second book. Rebecca Royce does a fabulous job world building and bringing us women that don’t break down in the face of the universe – they thrive for themselves and their families.

Well this was not the story I thought it would be!

Rebecca is always surprising us by stepping outside the box and not going in the direction we thought she was!  This book was one heart wrenching surprise after another.  Am I disappointed that it didn't go the way I thought?  Absolutely NOT!  It was even better than I imagined!  I love Rebecca's imagination and wonder how much research she does to add this sci-fi factor and other scientific details.  I cannot wait to see what happens next with Amber and her men.

Just when you think this author can't surprise you in this series she does. When Amber escapes from her husbands because of what she thinks she finds herself with her sister and the rest of the crew but when her husbands find her she finds out what she thought was all wrong. I love how this woman, how all these women, can bring their men to their knees both literally and figuratively. No one is safe from Evander but the crew and now Amber and her men will fight with their all to continue and try to save the universe. I want more more more! Can't wait for the next book!

This book seriously needs editing. The grammatical errors are sloppy and lazy. I highly doubt anyone even proof read this book!

Example 1) I want you with you.

2) He didn’t like the call me Amber thing either.

3) People in public would take one look at my fancy clothes and serene expression and make assumptions about what like to them looked my perfect life.

I'm seriously tired of reading books like this with so many grammatical errors. I would have enjoyed more when reading about Amber if wasn't for all the mistakes!

Presented yet again with something different from this author you will go barreling in. You follow Amber with her life being in a world that is vastly different from what we know which what captures us. Even though this is part of a series you still get swallowed up quickly. Her husbands capture your attention and will pick at your heart. This also has a mountain of drama to fuel it with us eating it up quickly. Amber's story is yet another piece that will take you all the way.

Ohh Poor Amber!

Oh I definitely didn’t see how her story would play out exactly coming, but kept hoping she’d pop up somewhere. So happy we finally got to her. Paloma’s little sister finally comes into her own and discovers who she wants to be. It’s a little heartbreaking and and heartwarming at the same time. Her husbands can they redeem themselves? Or will they lose her altogether, read the book and you will know too! I loved it!

She was beaten every day by her mother-in-law's goons and her husbands never noticed? Sure, Jan. Unfortunately her character went from mildly assertive to utter doormat after the husbands showed up; within a day or so, and very lukewarm grovelling on their part, she's inviting them into her bed. Didn't care for any of the husbands, especially the eldest, who was manipulative and didn't listen to her.

Why is it that every new book in this series is my new favorite? I so loved Amber and her story. This book, to me, was really different than the others. Her back story really drew me in and I loved how it all played out and how the guys were so different from our original perception. I love how it ends with having to get safe and getting ready for the big finish. Amber’s story is fantastic.

Another amazing installation of the WOA series by RR. I have been hooked on this series from the beginning and cannot wait to see what happens next for Amber. I won't spoil it for you guys... But holy crap.

I love how RR is able to bring such depth to the characters in this series, even when they start as side characters. It's refreshing. I definitely recommend you read it 💚

Another great story in the Wings of Artemis series this is well written and a must read. I can not wait for the next book to be out. I was so excited to find a new installment of this series. Looking forward to future books, though sad to know the end is near.

This is Amber's story. She ran from her husband's and now they've found her.
We learn how they met and what her life was like and why she ran. We also get the meet her husband's and see their side as well.
