Eryn Scott is the author of heartwarming cozy mysteries. Her novels feature close friendships and strong families because those are the most important things in her life -- a little humor doesn't hurt either.
She calls the Pacific Northwest home and doesn't plan on changing that anytime soon. Eryn loves to hike, horseback ride, knit, ski, and read. She believes musicals are the greatest thing since lattes, even though she's not particularly good at singing or dancing -- hey, a girl can dream, right?
Her first cozy mystery series, Pepper Brooks, is based on some of the greats in classic literature. Each book features a different author from Shakespeare to Austen. Eryn's newest series is set in a little town called Stoneybrook. The Stoneybrook Mysteries follow local jam-maker Hadley James as she solves mysteries in her town's year-round farmers market. From deceased knitters to sabotaged florists, these crafty citizens keep Hadley and her twin brother, a deputy sheriff, on their toes. Pebble Cove Teahouse Mysteries are great for readers who love a hint of paranormal with their mysteries. These books feature a tiny town tucked between craggy coastline and rocky shores with quirky characters of both the living and non-living variety. Look for new releases from all three of these series in 2022 as well as Eryn Scott's new cozy series.

A Flaky Alibi by Eryn Scott was an enjoyable afternoon read with likable characters, a well crafted plot and just enough twists to keep me guessing. I've enjoyed each one in this series and to read more in the future.
5 Star review A Flaky Alibi (Stoneybrook Mystery #4) by Eryn Scott
Audio Review:
This is a cozy mystery and one that I found thoroughly entertaining. I love this series from Eryn Scott and the narrator, Jennifer Jill Araya did a fabulous job bringing the cast of characters to life for me and certainly added to my listening pleasure. This was a book filled with enough secrets and clues to keep you guessing until the end.
I love the sound of Stoneybrook and would love to live or visit there. It sounds like a great place to be.
There were twists, turns and surprises in A Flaky Alibi Death as Hadley, her brother and her best friends follow the clues and I have to say that I was taken by surprise and I cannot wait for more in this series.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
A good plot with a twist at the end. I certainly didn't suspect a thing. The characters though seemed to be, well, acting slightly out of character. Not sure what it was but just seemed a bit off. The Baker Off was underway and they had just announced the one to be eliminated that week when the news comes through that the bakery leading the pack was dead. The only thing by the side of him was a pie. When results come back that the pie was poisoned, she and Luke start to investigate. All the evidence seem to be leading to the conclusion that their favourite bakery was responsible. However they know she isn't. Can they find the right person whilst still dealing with the jam shop renovations and the return of Luke's ex?
This made me crave pie. I love how the sleuths rally around their friends and their town. I really enjoy this series so much and the main folks feel like friends. I love the cats!
Cozy mystery #4 in the Stonybrook mystery series finds our heroine jam shop owner Hadley James in the middle of judging a baking competition in which the lead chef gets poisoned. Not the best written but very readable and the characters are likeable. Stonybrook is the town. Includes recipes.
Ahhh, back in Stoneybrook with Hadley, Paul, Luke, and Suzanne. And, of course, mystery is afoot! This time in the kitchen! But what could go wrong during a cooking competition where everything is closely monitored? Well, where Hadley is murder will soon follow!
I had a lot of fun listening to A Flaky Alibi. First, all that scrumptious sounding food totally made me hungry! And second, Eryn Scott led me on a merry chase trying to figure out who the killer was! I had some close guesses early on but it wasn't until nearly the end that I finally put 2 and 2 together. And then there were some surprises in the romance department for certain characters which was icing on the cake.
As a cat lover from way back, one of my favorite things about the Stoneybrook Mystery series is that in each one Hadley helps a different kitty cat. When I start a new title I always wonder where the cat or kitten will pop up and I enjoy 'looking' for them.
As for the audiobook itself, the production was good and the returning narrator was well chosen. If you are a fan of cozy mysteries A Flaky Alibi and the rest the books in Eryn Scott's charming A Stonebrook Mystery series would be a great reading or listening choice.
(I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)
I enjoyed this story but word of warning not a story to listen to if you are on a diet or are hungry because they story contains lots of sweet sounding treats and also includes recipes at the end of the book. Other than that it was good, a nice little mystery with lots of suspects and alibi's to keep you guessing. The characters are fun and the romance is sweetly blossoming. I hope there are more books to come in this series. Hadley and Luke are both judges in the annual Grande bake off. Hadley is finding it hard not to be bias and favour her friend who is one of the contestants but that all changes when the baker that looks like he would win is killed. Did Hadley's friend really have a reason to kill the man? Or was it the last contestant who was eliminated ? Who also accused him of cheating? Or is it the only friends the man seems to have, his own employees? Or the actual host of the bake off who missed out on a job to the dead man? With all these motives Hadley and Luke still fear for there friend especially when they find out what the killer pie was made in and decide to help out the police by finding out the real killer. I liked the narrator and thought she did a good job with all the different voices need to make this book a sweet cozy mystery.
I love finding myself back in Stoneybrook, a small town located in the Washington Cascades. A place that's very close to my own home and heart. As you already know if you've been reading this cozy mystery series, Stoneybrook is a town that thrives on gossip. Hadley is a young woman who knows how to lay low and tap into that resource. It's only with her help that her brother Paul, the cop on the beat, can find the answers to the questions people don't like to answer. And, there's nothing that gets Stoneybrook's lips flapping faster then a very public murder... a murder by a poisoned pie, during a cooking contest! I think that this is my favorite Stoneybrook story so far. The mystery is tightly written, which is somewhat atypical of the cozy-mystery genre... so you're definitely going to want to grab A Flakey Alibi, and see what Hadley, Luke, and Paul find out. Jennifer Jill Araya, as usual, did a bang-up job narrating this one! Oh, and if you need a good shortbread recipe stay tuned at the end! 😊
A Flaky Alibi is the 4th book in Eryn Scott's A Stoneybrook Mystery series and they continue to be awesome! Hadley James makes jam and she is expanding her jam kitchen to include a store. Her Dad and her friend Luke are helping with shelving and painting. Hadley, her.best friend Suze and Luke each have a stand at the local farmers market. Haley's twin brother Paul is a local Deputy Sheriff and is dating Suze. The 4 of them work together to solve the various murders that happen in the area. Hadley and Luke are both judges for the annual Grande Bake Off. Each week the contestants compete in a different category. Hadley's friend Mickie is one of the contestants and becomes a suspect when another baker ends up dead. Hadley and Luke had a rough history in high school but are friends now. Their friendship is tested. This is my favorite so far. I am really enjoying this series on audiobook! The narrator Jennifer Jill Araya is wonderful and the voices fit the characters and are easy to differentiate the characters. #AFlakyAlibi #AStoneybrookMystery #KristophersonPress #ErynScott
Spoiler Alert: You're going to love this installment!
So many fantastic things happen to the cast, I found myself squealing by the end of the book.
This mystery had a baking competition that left me needing to check out this show that everyone is sooo obsessed with. I loved the twists and turns, that were woven into the case. I did not see the ending coming at all. But it fit right in with the small town drama of Stoneybrook.
We get to meet more of the town, plus dive deeper into already known town folks.
The town feels like home, growing up in a small town, I can feel so much of my own experiences in these characters. Their personalities mesh so well together, I can can't put the books down. I'm already 68% through book 5 and downloaded book 6 today!
You're going to love this series if you enjoy cozies for their character development and fun quirky towns. Plus so many sweet romance moments.
The fourth book in the Stoneybrook Mysteries, is my favorite so far! Hadley James and Luke Fenton are judges for the 11th Annual Grande Co. Bake-off Competition. One of the competitors is Mickie Burbank, Hadley's ex-husband Tyler's cousin. The competitors want to win the competition so that they will be on the cover of Sunrise Living Magazine, receive $5,000 in prizes, and get a year's worth of baking supplies. Competitors are eliminated one at a time and at one of the baking sessions, competitor front runner, Grady Fines, is poisoned to death. The sleuths go about seeking clues wherever they can find them, in Stoneybrook and Cascade Ridge. I enjoy the relationships between Paul and Suzanne and Hadley and Luke, the cute kittens, Hadley's family, and the murder to solve. I am ready to read book #5!
Another hit from Eryn Scott! I’m loving all the characters in this series, and I’m happy that Hadley and Luke have got past their history to become good friends again. I enjoy reading about the relationships Hadley has with her family & friends. I think it would be exciting to visit this town, it sounds wonderful (aside from the murders, that is). This murder had me guessing almost to the end, so many possible suspects. I enjoy a book that I can’t figure out early on. I received a copy of this book so that I could volunteer my honest review. And I honestly believe you will love this book (and the series!) as much as I did.
Another fabulous cozy mystery in Eryn Scott's Stoneybrook Mystery series.
Hadley finds herself in the middle of another mystery when a contestant in a baking competition at the farmer's market ends up dead. The clues and suspects are plentiful and it is fun to follow along as Hadley works with Paul, Suze, and Luke to find the culprit.
My favorite part of this story, though, was Hadley spending more time with Luke. His presence has been increasing with each book, but you get to see a lot of him this time. They are sweet and I can't wait to see what happens next for them.
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
With winter settling in and Hadley’s jam shop closed for renovations, Hadley is looking forward to being one of the judges for the Grand Bake-Off along with her childhood friend, Luke. Although one of their friends, Micki has been holding her own, one of the contestants seems to have an edge over the others. However, that edge is short lived when that contestant is murdered. Could one of the other bakers be so jealous to kill off the competition? The author, Eryn Carpenter, writes with colorful descriptions and good character development. I received an ARC of this book for my honest opinion and I enjoyed it.
Micki is an excellent baker, and Hadley would not want to be accused of being biased as the judge of the local baking competition. However things come to a standstill at the Stoneybrook farmer's market when the leading baker in the competition ends up murdered with a poisoned pie. Luke is one of the judges and when all fingers seem to point to one of the other bakers in the competition, he teams up with Hadley to ensure that they can clear Micki's name. The twists and turns lead them to find out that things are not always what they seem like at first appearance. Plus it's more than one person who holds a grudge against the dead man.
Jam-making Hadley returns to stick her nose into a new mystery as Stoneybrook's farmers market moved inside. Market booths share space with a baking competition that serves up a slice of murder during pie week.
While this book has the same light feel and humor as the others, the romance and family elements were cranked up a little which was a nice touch. However, there were several missing and/or misused words and the occassional odd phrase that put a damper on my enjoyment of this read.
Still can't wait to read more of this series; the Stoneybrook locals are my jam.
This is the fourth book in the Stoneybrook mystery series. It is centered around a cooking competition much like the one for the British baking competition and of course includes a murder. It isn’t really violent and doesn’t contain foul language. The series star is Hadley James one of a twin set. Her twin brother Paul is the town deputy, the town being too small to have it’s own sheriff. It is well written and an easy read, not too short but can be read in a day. I found it interesting and liked it as much as the first three.
Yet another fabulous cozy mystery written by Erynn Scott and narrated by Jennifer Jill Araya.
I absolutely love this cozy mystery series. Every book I feel more and more connected to the characters. This mystery was a trickery one to figure out. The mystery was well paced and felt like it was the perfect length!
Jennifer Jill Araya always does such a fabulous job with her narrations , She continues to be one of my favourites!
I hope there are more of these mysteries to come!
I received a copy of this audiobook at my request, and I have voluntarily left this review.
I love reading cozy mysteries especially when the author tells the story so well that you feel like one of the townies. That is exactly how I feel about this cozy mystery series. This story is the fourth book of the series and just as entertaining as the first three books. I am now binge reading the series.
If you enjoy new recipes to add to your collection, the following recipes are included in this book: 1) Grandma James’ Mini Jam Tarts 2) Mickie’s Almond Honey Challah
I enjoyed this book. The murder mystery was a tough one to solve. Plan to read the next one in the series.
Amazon synopsis: While the Pretty Jam Good kitchen is under renovation, Hadley is thrilled to be a judge in the annual Grande Bake Off. That all changes when the front-runner is murdered, and Hadley’s friend Mickie becomes the main suspect. Positive she can help clear her friend’s name, Hadley begins sifting through the clues.

Hadley and her shop Pretty Jam Good are becoming a staple in her little town. While she juggles renovations to her shop, being a judge in the local baking competition, and sorting out her feelings towards her childhood friend; she also is trying to find clues to catch the murderer of the top chef in the baking competition. With so much going on at once the story kept my interest totally and was very enjoyable. A good cozy mystery that you will enjoy reading.
A great book and series. I like that it is set in a small town where everyone knows everything. The characters are believable and likable. The main characters have grown up together. It is a good cozy mystery. I truly enjoy this book, it kept me guessing until the very end on who was the killer and why. I received an arc copy of this book and this is a true and honest review. If you like cozy mysteries then I highly recommend this book and the series.
Another fun visit to Stoneybrook and since I watch a lot of baking competitions, this one fit right in with my tastes. Definitely makes you want to visit a bakery soon. Great characters and a good mystery with plenty of twists. Love the developments in Luke's and Hadley's relationship. I wish the author didn't feel the need to include Hadley's bad habit of chipping at her nail polish wherever she is. I also found a few inconsistencies from previous books. But I do enjoy the series. Quick, easy read.
Hadley is home and openings new jam business. Her dad is helping her remodel her business so while she is closed, she is on the judging panel for the Grande Bake-off. After the pie judging, Grady, one of the bakers, is murdered, which throws the competition into a frenzy. Why was he murdered and who did it. With the help of her friend Suze, and Luke, can she put the clues together and figure out the guilty party? Kept me guessing, on to the next book!
This is the first book I've read in this series and it is very much a stand alone. I enjoyed it so much, I would like to go back and read the first three books. Characters were well developed and believable. The end was a complete surprise! I would definitely recommend!
This is the fourth book I have read by this author and I have loved every one. each book a new kitty is introduced as well a murder is solved. What more can you ask out of a book. Am getting the next in the series to see what is going to happen next in the town of Stoneybrook.
