The biggest fashion disaster in comics is back! Fashion blogger Lottie Person just wants to live up to her flawless online persona—but why is real life so much harder?
Bryan Lee O'Malley is a Canadian cartoonist. His first original graphic novel was Lost at Sea (2003), and he is best-known for the six-volume Scott Pilgrim series (2004 to 2010). All of his Scott Pilgrim graphic novels were published by Portland, Oregon-based Oni Press. In July 2014 his graphic novel Seconds was released by Ballantine Books. He is also a songwriter and musician (as Kupek and formerly in several short-lived Toronto bands). -Wikipedia
My ratings of this series are slowly dwindling because I think we've reached the point where I'd like an explanation of what's going on. There's enough hints to make some guesses, but at this point I can't tell what parts of the plot we're supposed to be rooting for and who here is actually the "hero." But like the previous two books, I'm obsesse with the art style and the humor and the characters.
I didn't really like this third volume of Snotgirl. We basically got no further than what we already knew from volume 2. Coolgirl is kind of becoming annoying and it's just taking too long to discover what her deal is. This volume had all the elements of the previous ones, but I think that in this one they were just more absurd and over the top.
I'd say this is the weaker of the three volumes, it felt like the story never progressed at all and it never finished with the usual cliffhanger; I hope there's going to be a Vol. 4 at some point because that's no way to end it.
I still liked reading it, it's such a mysterious graphic novel series and the artwork is really cool - it just didn't progress story-wise though.
Do NOT get it twisted. I still love Snotgirl, but as the volumes progresses, my excitement for it dwindles and dwindles. I’m glad that it’s getting gayer, of course that’s always a plus! But as I said in my review of volume 2, the hints come a bit too slow for anything to make sense. However, I do feel like we have a pretty solid grip on the kind of person (?) Caroline is at this point, so at least some development is happening. I do feel like pacing would be better if there were more volumes to read, does that make sense?
Nonetheless. Wanna dye my hair green. Maybe get a wig instead though because I just touched up the red hair yesterday.
Bro...this shit is WILD! My jaw dropped to the floor on more than one occasion and I was entertained the entire time.
But what honestly takes the cake (and has for every volume) is the beautiful art. I seriously cannot get over how beautiful and amazing Leslie Hung's drawings are. I honestly think her art makes this comic 1000x more entertaining and fun for me.
There's a lot of like low-key homoerotic tension in this book it was kinda weird and came out of nowhere (like Ashley and his best friend or Lottie's ex and Virgil) but also entertaining.
Lottie continues to be self-absorbed and pretty much a shitty friend but you also get a look at her relationship with her sister which was interesting.
I really wish I found this series when it was complete so I could immediately jump into the next volume I'm so curious to see what will happen next!
TBH I only got about 3/4ths of the way through this. I loved the art style and the bright color theme. The random/spooky dynamics of the first two in the series pulled me in. But this one just felt very. . . mean. There are no genuine relationships. From friends to partners to siblings - no one liked each other. It bummed me out and forced me to quit reading.
What. The fuck was that issue 14??? Finnaly something is happening. I do agree with people finding the main plot dragged. Issue 14 has been released on august the 22nd so Who knows when the last one is due. Can't wait.
Everyone is turning out to be bisexual and I am living for that. Also, why are they making Misty shorter as the graphic novel progresses? She wasn't that short before, I just find it odd.
Side note: Putting this in my reading shelf because I hate putting single issues. For graphic novels and comics it takes me a while to form an opinion, so reviewing single issues isn't my thing. That being said the last issue(15) isn't published yet, I Will make sure to update the review when I read the last issue.
The main plot is slow, and despite being 15 issues in, alost none of my questions have been answered. I will continue on with this series, and I'm happy to hear that Bryan is starting to work on it again. The characters have just become kind of likable, and I would love to know what's actually going on lmao.
UGH. I just love this series so much that it almost sickens me. And it just gets better and better with each volume and I get more and more into it. Snottie just cracks me up and I can’t get enough of her, she’s cringey but that’s part of her charm and I love it. I knew this series was queer from the start but in this volume it gets turnt up to 100 and I LIVE FOR IT. Gimme all the queer graphic novels please! Especially when they are as weird and wild and strange as this one is turning out to be. I don’t know where exactly the second half was bringing us and what was happening but I was into it and terribly disappointed that we didn’t get to delve further into the weirdness and whatever the fuck Caroline is.
3.75 stars 。・:*˚:✧。 this series as a whole so far is kinda confusing and just wack hahaha but I still can’t help but love it. The art for me is the best part the characters are so beautifully drawn and the colours used are just so pretty. It makes me sad I can’t draw... anyway this characters are honestly all hate-able and unreliable they are all kinda shitty people tbh but I can’t help but want to read more about them. I’m still excited for the next one, I hope it makes more sense haha.
This was...really rather awful. I hate the characters (aside from Esther), and the way this series focuses on social media influencers just really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Besides that, the confusion surrounding the plot is just really off the charts now. I don’t think I’ll be staying around for volume 4.
I still can’t believe at one time people were up in arms about this series supposedly queerbaiting, listen there’s still barely any plot but lottie and caroline being sapphic and interested in each other was prettttty clear 🤷🏻♀️
I love the art and the colouring for this comic but the story keeps getting sillier and the mystery seems to be going nowhere. While I appreciate the diversity and the increasing level of gayness I'm just not that interested anymore. If I come back for more it will solely be for Cutegirl and the dog in their matching outfits.
I used to love this series for two reasons: the art is beautiful and it's all very mysterious and cryptic.
The art was still beautiful in this volume, but the story is starting to become slightly boring. I'm pretty sure that Bryan Lee O'Malley wanted something weird and he wrote just that, but at this point he has no idea what to do with it anymore. There's barely any character development, except for Caroline becoming more important than she was, and she's not exactly the most likable character.
I'm on the fence about whether or not I'll continue reading the series, however, I don't even have to decide for years now, probably, as only the five issues of Vol. 3 took from 2018 to 2020 or something to come out, so who knows when there are going to be new ones.
Snotgirl is queer af, ridiculous, full of terrible self-obsorbed people and their bad decisions, and meanwhile has a eerie supernatural mystery at its center. A really fun time and I'm so glad Volume 3 is finally out in the world and in my hands!
Slooooow start to this volume, especially compared to the first volume. But the DRAMMMMMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! things got so messy. The complications in the plot are so juicy and so fun. I’m excited to see where things go.
