So after loving The Living Nightmare (which is actually book 4 of this series that they need to put numbers on the spine for!!!) I decide to go back to the beginning and get the whole adventure in order.
But…all right, let’s just get this out of the way, okay? I hate the art style. Plain and simple, hate it. It looks like melting graffiti and I’m not a fan and will now take back what I said about The Living Nightmare’s graphics being just okay for the most part because it is WAAY better than this. Unfortunately I think the next two volumes (still don’t know of comics are called that) have the same style, so I’m just gonna brace myself for it, haha.
Now with THAT out of the way the story was pretty good! It mostly focuses on Tony which is fine though he’s not my favorite Avenger like never so I was mostly here for everyone else and the plot, haha. I love the sprinkles of humor throughout, especially when some characters were introduced like Black Widow is “Expert of pretty much everything” and Captain America’s really cracked me up with “Pretty sure the property damage will NOT be kept to a minimum”, not to mention a group of superpowered villains were labeled as “What you get when you mix cosmic rays with a less-then-Fantastic-Four.” Just little things like that kept me chuckling throughout, and as always I adored Cap in this but that’s nothing new, lol.
The cover is extremely misleading though as Hulk and Hawkeye are not involved in this one and are replaced with Black Panther and Captain Marvel, who is also not a favorite character of mine but at least she’s not insufferable like her MCU version.
Overall I enjoyed this and look forward to picking up the next one!
