A Window in TimeBrianna Daniels sails along enjoying her first hot air balloon ride, unaware of fifteen-year-old Scott Martin who tinkers on his computer below. Neither is aware of the time warp he creates until Brianna is sucked in and lands in 1860. Suddenly she finds herself on the way to the Split Rock Pony Express station as a mail-order bride for the station-master, Lucas Daniels, her own great-great-grandfather. But Lucas didn’t send for a wife nor is he impressed with her twenty-first century attitudes. The two instantly clash in a battle of wills that threatens to set the prairie ablaze. Conflict isn’t all that sparks between them as unexpected passions flare and the 21st century meets the 19th head on.

Loved it! pleasant, harmless love story about time travel. You know what happens right away. Enjoy the history and events. Don't think too deeply about the feasibility. Funny reference to one of Lampman's other books.
This was about Brianna and Lucas. Brianna accidentally time traveled back to 1860. Her and her great, great, g-ma switched places. Billy and Seth, two riders for Pony Express, had gotten their boss a mail order bride because they hated his cooking. Brianna showed up just before her g-ma, who was also named Brianna, met him for the first time. She thought he was handsome and found the thought of being married to her great, great, g-pa pretty gross, even though it was kinda the equivalent of a third cousin and it's legal to marry a third cousin due to not sharing much DNA at that point. They lived together for an entire year. It was an enemies to lovers. They didn't get along, but he was attracted to her and very protective of her. He liked to invent things and was working on a sort of lightbulb. Meanwhile, only a few weeks had passed for Anna and Tom. Tom was the one flying the hot air balloon when the switch happened. He'd been obsessed with Lucas Daniels. He'd read his journal, which his library kept copies of. He knew exactly what had happened, although not how, and who Anna (Brianna) Daniels was. They found the young man responsible for the switch and helped him fix his machine. Tom and Anna fell in love quickly, due to the fact that Tom was already half in love with her, due to reading Lucas's journal so many times. Back in 1861, Brianna couldn't understand why Lucas didn't have red hair like her g-pa was supposed to. She kept feeling like he wasn't really her relative. Lucas came across her camera and forced the truth out of her. When the blue mist of the time travel machine came for her, he threw himself on her to keep her with him. The switch wouldn't happen because the mass was off. Tom figured out at the last second that he was meant to go back with Anna. One man and one woman traded for the other set worked. Everything happened as it was meant to be. It was such a cute love story. HEA

An enjoyable story based on time travel and relaying between 1860 and 2004. Brianna/Anna Daniels switch places when a hot air balloon is caught in a teen’s experiment. Cute and funny – image being transported back over 140 years in time without your amenities and living in the mid-west during the pony express. Day to day living with a love story at both eras included. A little bit of history, fantasy, and humor mixed to create an entertaining story line.
Time travel with a hot balloon to 1800 doesn't seem to make sense but it's poetic, it's a shame I read another book like this but better. For a story written in 1995 is not misogynistic and what some readers find offensive today.
My original review was lost; so two books later, it isn't as fresh in my mind. Time travel books are about the only fantasy/sci-fi that I read. I enjoy the history from a modern view point and/or modern times with a historical eye. I enjoyed the characters also.
This was a really fun and feel good book to read. I enjoyed the story and the character very much. There were many funny moments as the women tried to adjust to the different time periods. I also loved the secondary characters, particularly the men who run the Pony Express that befriend Brianna.
The romances were enchanting and I really rooted for the couples and was delighted when everyone got their HEA.
I enjoyed the storytelling enough that I was able to put aside some of the more unrealistic elements of the story. This story is fairly unbelievable and in places predictable (but many romances are). I didn’t really like the whole plot of how they got switched. A teenage boy who has a science experiment go awry seemed a bit farfetched to me. I also didn’t really like the mad scientist teenager character.
If you are looking for a nice fun romance to read and you don’t mind a bit of unreality, this book is a good option for you.
A WINDOW IN TIME is a light time-travel romance that educates the reader about The Pony Express at the same time. Nothing too complicated and some far-out premises, take this for what it is: two romances in different times with HEA endings.
The main H/h have some humorous moments with their clever quips and witty banter, a he-said, she-said type of romance. Actually I was surprised a liked it. Usually I am turned off by arguing but Ms. Lampman endears the reader to the characters. Just don't expect much and you won't be disappointed.
What a delightful way to frame time-travel. Haven't ever read one like this before and I am sure you haven't either. During a hot air baloon ride Brianna is thrown 140 years in to the past in exhange for her Great Grandmother, Anna. There adventures in unfamiliar centuries is a fun read. Although I figured out how they story ended in Chapter 13 it was fun to read to the end to see if I was right. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story! It's not my typical genre, so I had a time trying to wrap my little brain around the difference in the passage of time from one period to the next (after all, they were ALL here on earth, and isn't one day the same time length in the 1800's as it would be today?!), but that detail didn't stop me from being sucked right into the storyline! Loved every word of it!
I read this several years ago as a bookring from Bookcrossing. I enjoyed it then, so decided to re-read it when I saw that Fictionwise had it as an ebook. Unfortunately the publisher of this ebook doesn't believe in using apostrophes!
I don't normally like romance novels, but this one had a really interesting plot, and I loved the characters. Or at least, I did when I read it like 10 years ago...but that's a good recommendation in itself, that I even remember it, I guess...
I listened to this in audiobook format and enjoyed it. Disclaimer: there were a couple of parts that were mildly-racy (if that makes any sense at all). I enjoyed the historical part of the novel and it was an average love story.
