Is anyone else getting annoyed with Mitsuki's back and forth. Honey, just put these guys out their misery. I was glad when Aya called her out on it. BTW, still rooting for Aya. Maybe she should let him go to someone who deserves him and just stay with Towa who still can't fully express himself. that's just my opinion...

Also, Ryuji was the star of this volume!

If Mitsuki doesn't end up with Aya, I'm going to riot.

Content: Nana's love life history, Mitsuki deciding to talk to Aya, car accident, and a resulting confrontation between the boys.

Another great volume in this series where we see more of Mitsuki’s connection with Aya and Towa. And I honestly wonder if maybe Mitsuki could end up with Aya because I think it’s possible. I liked that both Towa and Ryuji are trying to change the basketball team rules so that they can date and so when it changes they will fully come out and express their interests. This was another volume that was action packed for their was never a dull moment. The one thing I didn’t like in this volume is that it seems like Mitsuki is more indecisive about who she likes, I’m pretty sure she likes Towa but she needs to be more clear with her intentions because she leaves the guys not knowing where they are with her.

Mitsuki is starting to annoy me now. I get being indecisive, I do. But her stringing them both along and giving them both hope?? Messed up. Aya, nothing can make me like you, idc. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Team Towa always. 💕

I loved the passage between Ryūji and Mitsuki. Throughout the volumes, she is getting closer to the guys and create a genuine friendship with them. It’s refreshing to see the bonds she creates with them and not only her relationship with Towa.

I also really enjoyed the fact that Mitsuki is honest with Towa and doesn’t try to hide what happened with Aya from him. We all know that hiding information always leads to unnecessary drama and I was glad that the author didn’t choose to do that but preferred to portray a healthy relationship where the characters actually talk to each other.

Yo, can we talk about this?? This installment of Waiting for Spring was so good I died. We had angst on both sides of the relationship spectrum, we got some background on Nana-san AND we had a surprise moment that literally left me shook. I'm still shooting for the Towa/Mitsuki ship and I will die on that hill. One of my favorite installments and can't wait to read the rest!!

I don't think I've ever read a love triangle where I genuinely liked both sides before. It's bizarre.

Yes, still here. Still finding it absolutely hilarious. But after nine volumes I’m kind of done with Aya’s BS. I need Towa to just get on with it and ask Mitsuki out. Like I am all for slow burn, but come on! Are you really waiting until the basketball team allows you to date?

Here’s the thing, we all know she’s gonna end up with Towa. I know it, you know it, everybody knows it. But I can’t help but root for Aya. I guess I have a severe case of underdog syndrome (aka second male lead syndrome) and Aya-Chan is no exception.

I like how Mitsuki is becoming a stronger character too. She’s trying to navigate her feelings as best as she can. And 9 times out of 10 it would really annoy me that she couldn’t make up her mind already, but I kinda get it? Cause she had a crush on Towa, but then Aya came swinging back into the picture. And Towa said he was in no rush for her to decide her feelings and so did Aya.

So they’re not giving her a lot of room to be very décisive. Besides, I’d be really confused too if the two most wonderful guys were fighting over me. Like Reina said “some people just have it all”

Not a bad one but aya is ruining everything. He confessed his love to Mitsuki and saved her from a car incident and he got injured on his knee and now he can’t play until January. He’s going to miss the winter tournament but he’s still training and helping his team. He can’t rest and her friend asks Mitsuki to help him. He always acts as if he doesn’t need anything or as if he doesn’t need help and she thinks Mitsuki can help him taking a break during the weekends. She hopes he would listen to her because he’s like her in a way. The friend blamed Mitsuki for the accident but now she’s sorry. Aya didn’t tell Mitsuki the truth about how badly he got injured but she did. Due to this accident Mitsuki wants to be there for him and she can’t attend her high school games. She’s not there for towa but they still talk and she lets him know that aya is ignoring her. He wants her to see him once he’s healed but she’s determined to get her way in so she goes to his HS. Later on, she goes to his house and she wants to take care of him. He’s always there to help her and she wants to help him too. They order a pizza but he knows she wants to be at the game. He asks who they are playing against and it’s a good school and he thinks it would be difficult for the team even if they crushed other schools in the previous games. Since she wants to help him he decides to go to the game and in the end they won. They had a bad second half and Ryuji wanted nana chan to be there but he played better than ever and he’s happy about it. Aya goes to speak with towa. Mitsuki told him about the promise he made. How he wants to be stronger and how she wants to wait for him but aya says he won’t keep that promise because now he’s there. Towa asks his friends if they believe in destiny. Aya has always been there for Mitsuki and he’s determined to keep his promise and beat destiny which was really cool of him. We get to see how they want to break the no dating ban so they can ask nana and Mitsuki out again and in order to do that they have to win the tournament and beat Hojo and Aya in the winter tournament which is going to be difficult. The senpai is willing to change the rule if they win so now they have to do it. In this volume, we also get to see more of nana. It’s her birthday and she’s listening to Mitsuki drama with the boys and with ayas confession. She believes towa is a good guy and she thinks they would make a cute couple but she’s rooting for aya because he’s always there for Mitsuki and cares about her. It reminds her of someone from her past. She used to date a scion who worked part time as a musician. They dated for a while and he helped with her dreams but later on, once she met his family everything went down because they belong to different worlds. That guy appears for her birthday and Ryuji sees them. He was practicing to confess his feelings for her and he got crushed but he went to get her flowers for her birthday and he told her everything. It was a really cute moment and we get to see how nana feels about that other guy and how much she’s changed during the past year.
Honestly this volume was cute. You can tell that Mitsuki cares about aya and viceversa. At the same time you can tell how pure and innocent towa is. He’s such a nice guy and aya is obsessed with bringing him down which is one of the reasons why I don’t like him. I wish towa would grow a backbone to answer him back, but like Mitsuki he’s a really noble and honest character so I don’t expect him to get angry over that. However I do like how he’s determined to beat aya not only at the court but also with Mitsuki. I know the love triangle will be there in the next volume and I’m dreading it. I wish Mitsuki could choose or be honest with both of them so they can stop the little competition (mostly aya). Also I don’t think they can beat hojo but it would be interesting to see what happens.

Today's manga post is on Waiting for Spring, Vol. 9 by Anashin. It is 178 pages long and is published by Kodansha Comics. The cover has Mitsuki and Kyosuke on it. As it is the ninth in the series, you need to have read the first eight volumes to understand the story. The intended reader is someone who likes first love stories, shojo manga, and coming of age stories. There is no language, no sex, and no violence in this volume. The story is told from third person close of characters. There Be Spoilers Ahead.
From the back of the manga- LOVE TRIANGLES
The pressure is on now that Aya and Towa have both professed their love to Mitsuki! Fortunately, she has a reliable mentor in Nanase, who is happy to offer what advice she can. But in the course of the conversation, Mitsuki hears some news so troubling that she forgets her own romantic woes...Are Ryūji's hopes doomed to come crashing down around him?!

Review- Things are getting more intense in this volume with Aya getting injured by protecting Mitsuki from an accident. So he can't play basketball and she feels guilty. To be fair to Aya, he doesn't want her to feel that way. He just wanted to keep her safe. But that does make things harder for Ryūji, as she is spending time with Aya as he is recovering. But Mutsuki learns that she really likes Ryūji. This is a very cute coming of age story and I look forward to the next volume.

I give this volume a Four out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.

Overall manga review:

A great series with unconventional yet super fun friendships. The character dynamics were great and there were many hilarious and embarrassing moments.

The romance was well-written but never balanced between the two male love interests. The protagonist clearly loved the main love interest only. The second male love interest, who just so happened to be the protagonist’s childhood friend, was extremely pushy and forceful. His every advance was evaded and unwanted yet he still seemed to think it was okay to pursue the protagonist. At one point she outright told him to stop but due to seem weird aggressive competitiveness between the two male love interests, which likened the protagonist to some possession to be fought over or some game to be won, he continued.

The sports element of this manga was refreshing to see and I liked that it was given just as much importance as the romance. I liked that the games weren’t predictable, but in the end the match that mattered between the two male love interests didn’t at all go to plan in a way that made it all feel so unfinished. I’ll admit it got a bit tiresome seeing all the characters take the basketball so seriously like it was life and death to the point that the protagonist was not only understanding but also expecting the main love interest to love basketball more than her.

Aside from some weird and questionable aspects this was a great and enjoyable shojo romance/sports manga!
