Local history + history of my library system + queers + terrible snake handlers + love triangles ===> Christina is SO INTO IT. It's a work of nonfiction, though I might create a fictional spin-off for NaNoWriMo this fall.
Gratia Countryman was the 3rd director of the Minneapolis Public Library, from 1904 to 1936 (right after James Hosmer!). Since she'd been with the library since MPL's opening in 1889, I got a lot of juicy facts about the early days in this biography. Recommended mostly for my coworkers, or those with a particular interest in Minneapolis/women's/library history.
