Storm Lake – is it Mayberry or Middle Earth?
My name is Tempest Pomeroy, and my human job is delivering the mail in Destiny, Louisiana. I’m also a Paramortal like my family, or I’m supposed to be. If I didn’t have a few little talents, I’d think I was adopted. It’s just two weeks until Mardi Gras, and I’m having a bad day. That’s like saying Katrina dropped a little rain on the Gulf Coast.
First, River’s amphora went missing—that’s genie bottle to you mere-mortals—and on my first delivery, a handsome scantily clad doctor triggered some sort of hallucination, with just a touch - pheromones? Then, one of my customers had a stroke while reading me the riot act over a piece of mail, but I saved the old grouch with a zap of my Zeus juice! It was the first time I’d actually called my power on purpose, and Destiny’s hunky new sheriff almost saw me use my magic—big no-no—when he responded to the call. He showed up again when the local florist filed a complaint against me for dropping a seventy-five pound box on his foot. Yeah, I did it, but it was kind of an accident. He put his hand where it didn’t belong, and my fingers… sorta slipped. Then, things got worse. I discovered a dead body in the clubhouse and rescued my brother’s amphora from a locker, bashing it in with a Greg Norman wedge. Guess who showed up? Yeah.
I’ve denied my heritage for too long. Now, my brother is missing, my mother’s out of pocket, and the sheriff and my ex-lover are squaring off like yard dogs staking a claim over a poodle. I am no one’s poodle. Is it any wonder I’m calling this the worst M.A.L.E day of my life? My friend Aurora says all the chaos is a sign of my quickening Tempestaerie power, and more changes are on the wind.
Oh, and the sheriff? He thought he’d settled in a normal small town to raise his teenage daughter—like Mayberry?! We’ll see how that turns out… Things better settle down soon, ‘cause I’m about to go Storm Crazy.

Tempest is one of the best paranormal romance heroines I’ve ever read. She’s funny, sarcastic, hard-working and has the power to wield storms with her fingertips. Trouble seems to follow her around like a dog with a bone and it was borderline hysterical watching her talk her way out of a murder. But more than that, she’s multi-layered. She loves her brother, will do anything to find him and she’s trying not to fall in love with the sheriff. She’s got enough trouble and the forecast says it’s going to rain men around Tempest.
I loved Tempest! She’s the perfect strong fantasy heroine who harnesses the power of the weather. Her one-liners made me laugh hard. She has inner insecurities that only made me love her more. Her inner dialogue really makes the book enjoyable.
This is a great book one to a series. I enjoyed the minor characters as much as I liked the major characters. There’s plenty of conflict and the paranormal aspect to the story was original.
Caution: Read the books in order
Storm Crazy is filled with conflict, humor, Southern charm and romance. I loved the chemistry between Tempest and Jack (sheriff). If you’re a fan of Paranormal Romance, this is a must-read!

If like me, you enjoy a story populated by a community of quirky characters and laugh out loud dialog, then Storm Crazy is for you. The author has nailed small town dynamics—imps and all.
Jack is the new sheriff in Destiny, Louisiana a village with its own little secrets. He left D.C. looking for normal, blah, and boring. That’s where the fun begins.
The heroine, Tempe, is anything but boring. She is a weather witch in denial. Her denial is causing her all sorts of problems, but her main worry is her missing baby brother.
When Tempe and Jack meet lightning strikes, literally. Unfortunately, she mistakes Jack’s teen daughter for his trophy wife. It strikes again, when he finds her at a murder scene with the murder weapon in her hand. I loved how the author leavened the characters’ misunderstandings with their obvious sexual attraction. I won’t ruin the book for you, but if you’re looking for Mayberry, you won’t find it in Storm Crazy.

Great story in which a girl with unique abilities, tries to make a normal life, and because of her brother, gets sucked into the morass of others like her, while trying not to foster suspicion of a local sheriff, a man who makes her shiver every time he's near. Good erotic romp.

Wow! Livia Quinn made a believer out of me. She creates a wonderful world at Storm Lake. The characters are quirky and likable. The plot left me wanting more. Next?

StormCrazy from the synopsis is a novel about Tempest Pomery trying to find her missing brother. Who by the start of the novel is the driving force behind Tempest’s bad day. Then 41 chapters later the brother is still missing and nothing in Tempest’s life has changed other then she accepts her powers.
Everything in the synopsis of this novel happens in the first day of the story or about 25% of this book. Then two weeks go by in this story when Tempest barely does any searching for her brother. In fact the whole ‘searching for missing brother’ gets side tracked by the ‘hunky’ sherif, her other paramortal friends at really dumb ‘social gatherings’ and lastly a murder that has happened in the town of destiny.
Now I would say the murder ‘rocked’ the town of destiny if only anyone actually cared about this murder. Neither the cops nor the main character actually put any effort or desire into solving this crime after the first chapter it’s shown to us, only to return to it in the last chapter for the ‘big twist’.
Tempest’s friends show little desire in actually helping Tempest find her brother. Something which should be considered of importance since he is a Djinni and can’t be away from his bottle for long, and with the threat of a paramortal moon(Some supernatural event that causes all of them to lose their powers). One would think the other paramortals in the town of destiny would be itching to help Tempest out any way they can.
The Sheriff is the worst part of this whole novel. From his introduction till his inevitable romance with Tempest Pomery, he is both a nuisance and a distraction for Tempest. Constantly showing up at the worst times, with the worst ideas about the situation. He provides conflict but of an uninteresting kind to the ‘mystery’ that Tempest is supposed to be solving. The Romance that chokes Tempest, is that of your standard straight to DVD variety of movies. He shows up, the music plays, Tempest immediately falls for his good looks, a few dumb hijinks in not even three days and they are already kissing in the front seat of a car.
This romance which should have been a side plot to the main conflict of the novel takes center stage and read’s like the script of a generic rom-com. Only it's not funny just boring. There is no chemistry between them. They never grow together but are instead thrown together by Tempest’s VERY childish sounding paramortal friends (whom are supposed to be older women but act very much like children.) By the end they are together not because they actually like each other but rather they like looking at each other. So much of the book is wasted on Tempest talking with her useless paramortal friends, and a love interest that just isn’t interesting.
Which brings me to Livia Quinn’s writing. I get the feeling Livia is a ‘Gardener’ writer. Simply from the fact most of the first 12 chapters do not string together. Likely written out of order and then put into an order she felt fit. Except poorly edited to a point that the Sheriff is introduced three times to the reader by Tempest. Three times exactly the same way except the author forgot to change a date. So this Sheriff who is supposed to be new to his job has been working as sheriff for three months which is later changed to six months. Which makes things weird because he is supposed to be new to the town yet everyone but Tempest knows him.
Did this novel even see an editor? It doesn’t read like it did. A good editor would have cut 15 chapters from this book, and forced Livia to write Tempest’s training her magic powers scene. Then forced her to actually GO LOOK for her brother instead of continuing to do her Mail job. Because although that’s important- IT’S NOT AS IMPORTANT AS HER BROTHERS LIFE.
Lastly the BIGGEST problem with this novel. I do not think Livia Quinn actually knows what she writes about. A clear cut example - She has no fucking clue what an amphora looks like or what they were actually made for. Because it's definitely not what she thinks it is. They were very LARGE containers to carry and store wine and olive oil. Generally at least capable of holding 20-25 liters. With only one spout and two handles. The ceramic container she describes has two spouts and a witches hat like cap- which is also not a feature of amphoras.
Meaning that unless Livia Quinn is trying to imply that there is NO magic in this novel and everyone is just high, and Tempest’s brother just believes he is a Djinni because he can curl up into a large ceramic container- She has done zero research into the terms she uses.
I do not recommend storm crazy. Not even as a free book. It’s not worth your time in fact this review is probably more interesting than the novel.

Just when Sheriff Jack Lang thought he found some normalcy, he gets a welcome to Destiny, Louisiana with a murder… and mail woman, Tempe, who seems to always be in the middle of everything. So not only do we have a murder to solve, but her brother, River, is also missing. There is an instant chemistry between Tempe and Jack. You are rooting for them to get together and be happy.
The writing is great and engaging. You find yourself feeling what Tempe feels and feeling as frustrated as Jack at every turn. You find you have more questions than answers with a few chapters left for this to be wrapped up with a not-so-pretty bow (this is a series for crying out loud!)… and dun, dun, dun… cliffhanger! Will Tempe and Jack finally get together? We must stay tuned! What I did enjoy were the dual POVs, although I wasn’t a fan of Dylan getting a chapter. I also loved this taking place in Louisiana. I thought it was the perfect setting for this genre. I enjoyed this story, but it left a lot of unanswered questions. However, it is noted on the Amazon page for this book… “These are not a stand-alones…”, but I will be staying tuned! This is a good start to a series.

Storm Crazy by Livia Quinn starts with our heroine Tempest, a mail delivery person in a small town having a terrible day. Not only is it hell week with everyone up for review and being followed and tracked by the bosses looking for any errors, but all of her customers are being problematic, her brother River is missing, and her magic is running amok.
Tempest isn’t an average human. She is a paramortal weather witch who tries her best to be an ordinary human. Sometimes that doesn’t work out so well for her. After several run ins with the new, and very attractive sheriff, being accused of murder, and stealing evidence, her week just continues to get worse.
Tempest finds out that she has been kept in the dark regarding certain family secrets, and wants more than ever to have a normal life where she can be just the pretty girl that the very human sheriff might be interested in. Hopefully she can control her powers before any new disasters strike.
Fans of paranormal romance will enjoy this series.

What there was of it was good, BUT it is like the 1/3 or maybe more or less of a complete story...
You need to buy at least the next book to see if they find/catch the people they are looking for & to see if there is a love interest staying together or whatever might be the next section of the book...
I was torn between rating it a 3 or a 4.... 4 because it doesn't leave you with any answers & you'll need to buy the next book or two or ???? to get an ending & 4 because it's nicely written & I wasn't mentally correcting tenses & spelling through out the story to date.
Go ahead & pick-up this freeby & see what you think of it.

Interesting world and characters
The world building and characters are unique. The main character Tempest is likable as we follow her in her quest to find her brother. Other characters are introduced along the way allowing the world building and cast to unfold as the book progresses. The book is part 1 of the story. The primary mystery is not resolved by the end. So be prepared to move onto Book 2. The world and magic system are unique. The author has created an interesting world. I want to continue to find out how everything ends up.

I’m on the fence with this one
There was so much that I liked about Storm Crazy, but I felt it just dragged on for too long, as well as falling back on some rather tedious tropes like the good ‘ol love triangle.
If you’re looking for a HEA ending, then think again my fellow bookworms, because once the author drops an emotional bomb on our protagonist, we get a little of the fallout and then.... please continue in book 2.

I downloaded Storm Crazy as a free ebook from Amazon. Not sure how I feel about rating this one, so don't let my neutral rating be a deciding factor. This book read like a paranormal cozy mystery, which is a popular genre, but I'm not super fond of the amateur sleuths, finding them more meddlesome than helpful. But, that said, people who like cozies and snappy dialog may find this right up their alley. The characters were fun and amusing, but for me, just not my favorite plot.

Good Read
I enjoyed this story from beginning to end.. Tempe is one of those characters that you can't help but love and root for.. This book had different paranormal characters and that's always a breath of fresh air.. I always love a good mystery and this one did not disappoint.. The book ended with a cliffhanger so look forward to reading the next book. If you like romance and mystery I recommend you giving this book a shot

Good well rounded characters. I fell in love with the heronine and her way of thinking. However, the double points of view I found annoying, This was an ok read for a first in the series book . Am I pumped to get into the second in the series? Honestly- no. This is where we part ways, but this was a nice way to keep yourself amused for awhile.

This is such an amazing and fun book to read. All the things going on and her and the sheriff clashing. It is an attraction to each other that causes that clash. She has powers and is looking for someone and something. Love the characters and the story. It is exciting, suspenseful, funny, emotional and so enjoyable. I recommend it. I was given a review copy by AXP and voluntarily review it.

Awesome Read!
Tempest is a very strong lead character. Lucia Quinn is a very talented author. I really enjoyed this book and I definitely recommend this story of you like mystery, adventure, and the supernatural world. She paints a beautifully vivid world and transports you there. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. This is a must read!

Lousy writing.
Incomplete sentences, incomplete thoughts, incomplete story. Who thought that this was a book? Just a bunch of unanswered questions , how does that make sense? No answer to any of the information given. Mystery left unsolved. You solve the first mystery , then create another for your next book .

Great cozy curl up read. Took me a while to get the hang of Livia’s conversational style as I’m from the UK, but once I did I found it flowed and was an easy read. The characters were warm and quirky and put me in mind of the TV show Midnight Texas. All in all, I enjoyed the book. Will definitely be visiting Livia’s story world again.

A pretty interesting world to go visiting, quite involved and intricate.
I liked it except for it being a cliffhanger, which is a pet peeve of mine. That alone lost it a star. This is a story with multiple layers, lots of character depth, a variety of new and different types of players. It's not the same old were plus vampire plus witch storyline.

Livia Quinn an amazing,creative author. Her imagination is without a doubt unique. I love her characters and this series plot is unparalleled! At this moment in time I am so annoyed by her. I'm all in and NOW she moves into Part 2! Not polite!

Right in the Middle!
I love this story, but I wish that i had known ahead of time that it was a cliffhanger. Plus, PLEASE have a glossary. No clue what menori means. Google and Kindle dictionary were no help. Cannot wait to go to next book. Warning to readers: you will not want to do anything else but read when you start!

Good beginning
This book was really good, but if your like me & can't afford the rest of the story... Don't waste your time. You'll just end up disappointed, feeling sorry for yourself.

Loved this book!
I really loved this book. The characters are so intriguing I can't wait to read on in the series. I want to learn more about Tempest and the rest of the paramortals and follow how Jack reacts as he learns more too.

I love books set in Louisiana.
The action events are very fast paced. The world building is catching up by the sudden end of the book. This is only the first book in a series that will rely on previous books. Paranormal action adventure and detecting to be continued.

Loved this book! Tempest, the main character, is hilarious! Trouble seems to follow her like a magnet! Can't wait to read the rest of the series!
