Witches, werewolves and magic aren’t just bedtime stories, they’re my story.*NOW COMPLETE 6-Book SERIES*

Fans of Sarah J. Maas, The Mortal Instruments, Twilight, and Harry Potter will love KB Anne’s bestselling urban fantasy series!

Gram tells me Druids live among us. They worship the forgotten Celtic gods that once ruled the Earth, and for centuries, they’ve practiced in Vernal Falls without incident.

I know nothing about Druids or Celtic gods. I only know the visions began when Breas, the new foreign exchange student, moved in next door. I also know my best friend Lizzie is obsessed with the spell book I found in Gram’s attic.

And someone is following me, which I find oddly comforting.

Breas provokes me—I mean really pisses me off. My friends protect me—but it’s mostly from myself. And a mysterious stranger wants me and I’m not sure what his intentions are, but I’m willing to take the risk.

Meanwhile, evil forces are supposed to be at work, and I need to decide if I’m the one to save them all. Guess what I think?

Begin the **NOW COMPLETED** six book series everyone is talking about. The Goddess Chronicles by KB Anne is a fast-paced urban fantasy series filled with twists you will never see coming. Guaranteed to cause book hangovers. The Goddess Chronicles features a sharp-witted heroine, swoon-worthy hero, and one epic rollercoaster romance set in Ireland!

first of all, let’s start off with saying this might be one of the worst books i’ve read this year. i know i say that about all the books i hate, but i hated this one especially.

okay. first of all, our mc, gigi, is one of the most toxic characters i’ve ever read. she lies, sneaks out, drinks underage, gaslights her friends, cusses her family out, and that’s not even scratching the surface. routinely, (at least once a chapter), gigi contemplates killing someone. and not in a fake way. MULTIPLE times, she picks up a knife and thinks about throwing it at someone, and someone else has to come and say, “Gigi pUt tHe kNiFe dOwN”. and then they joke about it. but since the book is narrated by gigi, we can actually see her internal thoughts, and she’s serious about thinking about hurting someone. we never really touch on the fact that THAT’S NOT NORMAL. this is just another example of an adult trying to write a book that appeals to teens and failing miserably. gigi needs to go to therapy.

even more, she makes it very clear she’s “not like other girls”. i seriously have highlighted many times she explicitly says she’s “not like other people”. i normally hate the trope, and women can be badass without “trying to make themselves different”. but gigi just fits in that first category so much, it’s painful.

also, beyond that, there’s little to no magic in this book. the blurb boasted “celtic mythology” yet we even see the characters talking about GREEK GODS. it’s like the author wrote a book then realized they needed an actual plot and tossed a bit of magic in there. the first time we start to get into paranormal activity, the book is 90% through. i’m not even kidding. i’m so angry this didn’t have any more magic in it. that’s the only reason i came. the only reason i finished this book was to have further ammo to diss it with.

this book is a complete mess. it’s cliche, the romance is toxic, the CHARACTERS are toxic, and the author is just not doing it for me. don’t waste your time. this book is a joke.

Firstly, thank you to the author for providing me with a free copy of the book via Voracious Readers Only in exchange for a fair review.

I knew I was going to dislike this book from page one.

Main character Gigi is not just unlikable, she is abusive and toxic. In 1st person narration she is continuously trying to portray herself as super cool badass who disregards rules and lives on her own terms. Feel like an attempt at teenage angst Mary Sue. 'It goes against my nature to follow the rules' - ugh.

She keeps scratching people, drawing blood, punching people and somehow noone sees it as a problem. I'm a normal environment she would definatley be in trouble with the law, likely in juvy. And I'm not buying the sudden 'she can read mind and project on people's stuff that came out of nowhere half way through.

Of course she's mean and short tempered, but somehow has super loyal sidekick friends and they still continue dragging her out of dangerous situations and begging her not to hurt anyone (because she's such a badass who doesn't follow the rules).

The aggressive remarks towards the reader ('you got a problem with that? Good. Didn't think so') is a think a poor attempt at humour.

The first scene is ridiculous. The Irish lad goes straight out with 'You're mine' to a girl he literally never saw before, really? And Gigi, instead of dismissing it takes it seriously and keeps pining over it. Of course this develops into a unrealistic cliche love-hate story.

The worst part? All that is irrelevant to the actual key plot. Nothing significant happens until the last 50 pages. I know the rest of the book was supposed to be build up to the reveal, but it fails to deliver as majority focuses on Gigis delinquency and romance.

This story had a lot of potential, if the built up was better and foreshadowing delivered, and if instead of trying to paint Gigi as super lovable badass it focused on her mental health struggles linked to losing her mother and made her a realistic human.

Did not finish. Got a couple of chapters in and gave up. The main character is completely unlike able. Has a huge chip on her shoulder and doesn’t care about anything. She has an adversarial relationship with everyone else in her high school. Don’t know why she doesn’t quit. Secondary characters were not developed and just acted as foils to the main character. Have much better things to read.

What an entertaining read. How would you handle finding out that all you had been led to believe about your parentage was one big nasty lie?
This is what Gigi discovers after unwittingly freeing a horror that killed her best friend. A horror her mother died entrapping to try to keep her safe.
I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Happy reading. Annemarie

Fell right into the story and couldn't put it down. Love Gigi, Scott, Ryan, and Lizzie. Enjoyed their banter and their fierce loyalty to each. Breas intrigued me. Definitely looking forward to Book Two!

Gets Irish mythology really wrong.

Anu is Welsh. Danu is Irish. It’s Samhain, not Sanheim. The main character, Gigi, is really spoiled, selfish, and unlikeable. I was expecting more out of the stuff with Breas (are we talking the Fomori, Breas?) and the mysterious stranger, but those plot lines get dropped for... werewolves. I’m not going to bother reading more of this series.

So GIGi is actually a pretty awful character. She is constantly mean to those who love her. She physically draws blood from them by clawing them. She traumatizes them by making terribly bad choices. She lies even though it causes her pain. And they all make these pathetic excuses for her bad choices and behavior. The whole time I'm reading this I thought she must be Fae. So many things point to it. But no. Not Fae. I was disappointed. No she is a goddess incarnate and raised by witches. And then there is Breas who appears then disappears. Everyone likes him but Gigi -well when she doesn't want to make out with him. and there is also an unseen character that only Gigi knows about. Her best friend was demon possessed or something and then dies. Her neighbors are actually her brother and dad-sort of. Oh and she let loose an unkillable werewolf. I guess I hoped there was a different plot twist. Not to mention that she may have been raped at some point in her life and she has crippling anxiety attacks and she has issues with authority and is super disrespectful to everyone. There is no character growth for Gigi. Every adult who loves her is shown to lie to her and allow her to believe lies that actually cause her to have these anxiety attacks and bad choices. Sorry rambling. But the more I think about this character and her choices I realize it's the adults in her life that have shaped her to be the way she is.

I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

First of all, I loved this book! I had never read a story that revolved around Celtic Gods before, so stepping into the lore of this book was sort of fun and it really has sort of sparked my interest in learning more as I go into book two soon. The story itself had a way of keeping me on my toes, I never could predict where or what Gigi was going to do next; while infuriating at times, it kept things interesting.

That being said, I have a love/hate relationship with Gigi, I don't understand the girl, not even in the slightest, but I am still drawn to her. Her friends are by her side no matter how awful she can get, and lemme tell you she screams Juvenile Detention Bound probably about 80% of the time, actually she probably hisses it...

All I can really say is, despite her flaws, despite the fourth wall breaking that was only slightly distracting the first few times and turned into part of the charm, I am compelled to follow Gigi further into her journey and to see how the end of the book changes her. I need to see this character's arc from start to finish. I am a fan and I am ready to devour more! Thank you to the author for giving me a copy and introducing me to her skunk haired tea-sipping baddass girl.

Only part of the story, the tale is not complete.

Gigi Brennan skips class, tells lies, drinks, hot wires her friend’s car, and has sex with strangers. She is always in trouble with her school principal, Donahue.

Things get worse when an exchange student moves in with her Uncle Mark and his son. They live next door to her grandmother and her. Grandmother invites them over; Breas, the exchange student, makes her uncomfortable.
Fortunately, Gigi’s friends, Lizzie, Ryan, and Scott, have her back.

Please read and find out what happens when Gigi finds a book of spells, and her friend Lizzie steals and uses it. Gigi starts having blackouts and terrible dreams.

I spent most of the book trying to figure out what is going on with Gigi. Her family knew. Gigi finds about her past, but the story is not complete. You will want the rest of the series.

I loved this book from start to finish. Gigi isn’t your average hero main character she’s tough, rough around the edges, a bit mean sometimes and completely bad ass but with a soft centre somewhere way down. The relationship between her and her friends is what really drew me in they’ve all got each other’s backs, they know each other so well and the banter is great. There’s a lot of back story and character/ relationship building which some people might find slow but when you’re reading the first book in a series it’s to be expected and for me it never felt boring. I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Found this book to be be very jumpy. No flow. Spend pages on small things then short amount of stuff on others. It’s designed to make you want to read rest of series’s. Could have been half the size as the main action happened in the last 20 pages. And vampires? Not 1999 No thanks. Way too many good books to read.

I had a lot of problems with this book, and way too few things I liked. First off, Gigi's, our mc, character. Her character was much too exaggerated, and the only way I can describe her is how everyone else described her- toxic, violent, and if she sees a rule, she gets a muscle reflex and she HAS to break it. Even if it's the law because she is actively drinking, having sex, and smoking even though she's what, 16? Her family and friends are completely aware of this, but still stay completely supportive of her, which I find extremely unrealistic. She also has extreme violent tendencies, like clawing random people's faces and drawing blood from her FRIENDS with her "dagger nails". The author tried to lure a teenage audience by trying to use a "badass" main character but failed utterly and miserably.

Second off, Breas. Please, if you're ever going to introduce a character so early in the series, but then not even bother making him contribute to the plot, you're better off not having him in the first place. His two uses were giving the author something to add to the summary and a cliche romance.

Third, the pacing. In the first 1/3 of the book, I was wondering where the story was going, because the only indicator that this had anything to do with the "fantasy" genre was that Gigi found a random "spell" book in her attic.
When it reached 1/2, one of the things that were promised in the summary happened, but even that didn't even change the end plot except that the personality of a character changed, but only barely.
Finally, near the last few chapters, things picked up SO FAST, and in the last chapter, we got all of the random reveals that barely even made sense.

So honestly, if this were to be a better book, it could've been by completely getting rid of Breas, cutting out every unnecessary scene about Gigi's "kick-ass" activities, especially the sex scenes, modifying the summary so that it actually talks about the book, not the entire series, and stretching out and making the plot the whole thing with the magic book, because the final plot (seriously, werewolves?? I thought this was supposed to be about Celtic mythology) was badly written, as was the rest of this book.

While the concept is interesting, i loved the idea of druids and incarnated divinities, i couldn't appreciate Gigi, there was no connection at all. I understand that you need to built some background to show how the new events will impact her for example but it felt like it was dragging....she makes mistakes...(as she says for me it's more than mistakes) but we get a bunch of those she did in the past and now there are repeats...sex with random guy(s), tattoo, alcohol and all she can think of to show she is a rebel and doesn't follow the rules.
That was really too much in my taste and really i don't see how she could be a model, yes she is loyal to her friends , she can have a good heart but too much "mistakes" if those were mostly allusions, and not for the majority of the book i could have focused more on the story.

Because the story itself is interesting and secondary characters like Scott are very interesting really simply they got a too small part of the book ...the balance between background setting and the action didn't feel right .
Since the story is interesting i could give the second book a tried to see if Gigi manage to grow on me but i can't say that i recommend this book to all public.

I received a free audio copy of this book directly from the author for an honest review.

3 1/2⭐️
I really loved the last third of the book and had the book been more like that (and I suspect the next books will be!) this would of been a higher rating. It’s a whole lot of back story, character building and a bit of world building for the first two thirds of the book, don’t get me wrong I loved that it’s creating the world and characters but this was a little bit too much. Gigi was also at the beginning pretty dislikable but she does grow towards the end which I guess is part of the long build up. The end of the book you are most definitely left with a whole heap of questions even though you got some answers. I’m definitely interested to read/listen to book two and see if I’m correct in a few things I’m thinking that will happen!

I downloaded Wide Awake, book 1 of the Goddess Chronicles, as a free ebook from Amazon.

There was a lot to like and dislike in this book. There is some great dialog and one-liners, along with a lot of potential for more stories in the future. But, on the downside I didn't care for Gigi's character-- she's too violent, runs rough-shod over others (her friends included), and at 16 or 17 years old, she has too many vices and too much random sex to make her relatable to a heroine.

Going back to the pros I listed above, the potential in the story line can be found in the last quarter (or more) of the book, where the story seems to finally come together. I can't say I liked Gigi more by the end, but as the series progresses, I hope readers can see some maturity in her character and better focus on the plot.

I really enjoyed this book but was frustrated by the ending. The world is intriguing, the characters likable, the vibe fun and sassy.

My trouble began when they introduced a new story plot near the end of the book, then wrapped up that plot but nothing else. The plot should have been introduced earlier or if it's there and I missed it, I wish there had been more hints. The only one I saw was when Gigi and Lizzy were in the store and the 'giant' made an off-hand remark.

Loved the story otherwise.

This is my first book by KB Anne, it started of a little confusing for me. I could not for the life of me figure out what was going on, still I continued listening. I'm glad I did, this is one of those books that gradually over time give you small pieces of information. A mystery that slowly unravels, the storyline is really good if you keep going. The characters are all interesting in their own unique way, I'm really looking forward to the next book. The story is just starting to get to the bigger threat, and it's going to be explosive.

2.5 almost 3. The storyline was interesting although it seemed some parts a bit all over the place and there was things or characters that seemed integral and then towards the end of the book not touched on again at all. The MC was hard to like as she wasn't just mean but vindictive, cruel and toxic a lot of the time. Some of the other characters I liked and were interesting but played much smaller roles in the story or at least in this book. I am on the fence as to whether I will try to continue with this series or not.

I received this audiobook free for an honest review. I thought this to be a great book for the YA who is interested in paranormal and young romance. Gigi is discovering her past but not yet her abilities. The answers to Gigi's strange feelings comes to a climax toward the end of the book. It all comes together with some left over to be continued in the next in the series. This is a fast paced book. The narrator did a good job with the characters, their personalities and the story line.

Gigi is a no-nonsense high school student who doesn't take crap from anybody. But when a mysterious foreign exchange student shows up, Gigi's world is turned upside-down. Family secrets, deep bonds of friendship, Celtic mythology, ancient curses, witchcraft, and werewolves are just a few of the reasons you'll keep turning the pages.

Awesome

This book ended all too abruptly. I was so enjoying the story and characters that I was disappointed by the open ending. It sure does make you want to get the next book in the series. Great read I would recommend it to anyone who wants a nice story to read before bedtime.

Easter egg hunts are so awesome

There is a system to the madness found within this book The savory goodness left me wanting more The characters are as real as possible and I found myself identifying with the thoughts and conclusions of the main character This is a fine tale told by an accomplished artist

One of the best books I've read recently!

This was a new take on gods & goddesses for me. Most books I've read have stuck to Greek, Roman, or Norse folklore. This opened up some new avenues written by a woman. One of my favorite authors is Kevin Hearne - druids, vampires, & more.
This was truly comparable even for a younger audience. I loved it!
