Boston Police Captain, Kevin Fitzgibbon thought he’d found the missing piece of his heart when psychic Madam Aurora prophesied the love of his life was philanthropist, Jace Lincoln. After spending months as on-again, off-again boyfriends, the pair are off again, perhaps for good, leaving Kevin distraught and grumpy.

Jace Lincoln is still trying to put his life back together after Fitz dumped him on Valentine’s Day. While getting back into the swing of things with a new man, a drunk Fitzgibbon barges in on their date like Godzilla destroying Tokyo. Listening to Fitz carry on about how much he misses what they had together makes Jace wonder if they still have enough of that old magic left to try one last time.

Through a series of dates ranging from ridiculous to right on the money, Fitz and Jace reconnect and find that the things keeping them apart might not be so insurmountable after all. Deciding to give their relationship another try, they start planning a bright future together.

That future is stopped dead in its tracks when tragedy strikes at a party celebrating the tenth anniversary of Jace’s homeless shelter. Will Kevin and Jace survive to begin a new life together or have they lost their last chance at happiness for good this time?

I know the story has more to come, but I can give a sigh of relief and sleep so much easier now knowing that Ms. Pine has but my fears to rest. From day one, silver fox Captain Kevin "Fitz" Fitzgibbon was on my radar and through the series, just knowing he had a HEA at the end of his rainbow did not ease my soul. Especially knowing that he and Jace had to fight through so much just to get where they needed to be. As Shakespeare wrote in A Midsummer's Night Dream,

The course of true love never did run smooth.

As the story unfolds, Fitz and Jace are still estranged, and both unhappy. One unexpected meeting plants the seed that maybe they CAN have a future together. What follows is the art in wooing. I swear this is the hardest I have laughed because of one of Ms. Pine's book and poor Greeley. I felt for him and the situation he found himself in. It was laugh worthy!!! But like any CCP book, the drama is amped and the men's lives are put in danger. Who is in harm's way and what other secrets will be revealed? Let your fingers do the walking and one click this exciting tale. After all, there's nothing like that old magic to keep you interested.

I will go on the fence and say, to date, this is my favorite spinoff from the Cold Case Psychic series. I still await to read Hunter's Curse the next in the spinoff series and a story I feel quite close to.

I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.

Well of course this came out on Tuesday and so I had to read it asap.
Finally Kevin and Jace's story.
Would I have preferred a full length book. Yes, I would have. Yes, we knew they were both working on the relationship (hopefully) in the months they were apart but they got together really quickly at least with a longer book it could have taken a little more time.
That said, this was another excellent instalment in the world of Ten and Ronan and their friends. Yes, as I said this was Kevin and Jace's story but their friends played a huge oart in the book. Some sadness but lots of laugh out loud moments with the ice skating and the living room incident.
I devour these books, keep them coming.

"Le Sigh" 🥰 I just finished 2 spinoffs, That Old Magic and Aurora Borealis (Cold Case Psychic Spinoffs #4 and #8/KU), by Pandora Pine and I’m completely enamored with her writing and story telling of the paranormal variety. I literally had chills on more than one occasion during my read of Aurora B. It is the continuation of Fitz and Jace’s story from That Old Magic, so reading them back to back was simply wonderful. I love the cast of characters and ragtag family she has created. Her writing tugs hard at your heartstrings and is so very sexy. I have not read the series YET, but I’m totally enjoying these spinoffs. I have also read Tiny Dancer and Kissing Booth which I loved as well.

A prophecy is only as certain as the participants' actions and Kevin and Jace find out the hard way when the happy future they were sure was theirs crumbles beneath their feet. A drunken outing has Kevin barging in on Jace's date and it's unclear if they'll ever get it together enough to get back together. But with both following the sage advice of a certain friend "in the know" they just might get their second chance. Only time and an honest, determined try will tell whether this chance is the one that sticks or if their future will be written with someone else.

After what we read in Dead in the Water regarding Jace and Kevin's relationship it was very clear that there was a long hard road ahead of them if they wanted their prophecy to come true. There wasn't much farther for them to fall, honestly. I still think that by the end of the story there was still a long way to go, that they really made good progress but are nowhere near their HEA.

The focus of this novella was around the relationship and not a side story that really built off of the full series. There was definitely some angst, some drama, and a bit of hospital time and no Cold Case Psychic book or novella would be complete without those, but what was nice here was that by focusing directly on Kevin and Jace's "will they or won't they make a go of it" we got a bit of a break from the crazy and a lot more questions answered about who these very important side characters are.

As for the drama, it was left a bit open-ended, which I don't know if I liked. It did, however, give us a glimpse into a similar situation of a visiting presence that both tied in the full series as well as give us one of those heart-squeezing moments that bolsters our hope and faith in Kevin and Jace making things work despite the difficulties ahead.

I was sure that Jace would fail me, that he wouldn't do enough to make up for his actions in Dead in the Water. While I'm not 100% Team Jace, I'm more of a believer that they could really make their relationship happy and successful. Kevin was more eager, more willing to lay his heart on the line and that paid off because it gave Jace the courage he needed to start his campaign to win back Kevin's heart. The way it played out fit both men and I think it worked so well because of Ten and Ronan's meddling and support. This was a really nice story that is definitely paving the way for what we're sure to see in the rest of the Cold Case Psychic series.

Yes! We finally have Fitz's story <3 I've been waiting for this one for so long and it doesn't disappoint.
Jace and Kevin were destined to be together according to Madame Aurora but after so many stops and starts, they parted ways. It doesn't mean either man stopped thinking about the other.
This book gives us their story from their POV's and it's a great insight into both men who we've only seen from Tennyson or Ronan's POV. It's one of my favourite thing about these spin off books is that we get to see the Cold Case Psychic characters from their own viewpoint and the other things that are going on in Salem.
We still get to meet up with the family and friends with the standard snark, teasing, care and love that they all have for each other.
Pandora gives us just what we all want for the amazing man that is Captain Kevin Fitzgibbon. A strong man, a great police officer and a truly amazing parent to Greeley. Reading about his stresses, worries and fears makes him more human, with the flaws that all of us have and the effect that it had on his relationship with Jace.
Jace is still working at his Shelter but struggling with living in his dead dad's apartment. His separation weighs heavily on him but is taking all the steps that Ten recommended. When the two men finally meet up again, it's a chance to see if any of what both of them have done will change the outcome or be a repeat of their break up.
Yet another great book from Pandora. This has truly become one of my favourite series and I am always eagerly awaiting the next book, both in the original series and the spin offs. This one is a must read for all fans. Possibly read as a stand alone but where's the fun in that! :-)
I received an arc and am very happily giving a review!

Finally! Kevin and Jace! Oh man, the buildup to their book has been delicious.. and unfortunately painful for the last few books in this universe. Thinking things would work themselves out thanks to a vision by the infamous Madam Aurora, both men took their relationship for granted. When combined with issues Kevin and Jace had individually about being in a relationship, the strain on their bond was too great and man, it hurt when they split. But finally, FINALLY, this book finds them back in each other's orbit. Both men have worked on their issues in their time apart, but can they find their way back together for good?

I finally see what Kevin saw in Jace in this novella. I like how maturely and cautiously both Kevin and Jace approached this new chance at a future together. They are sweet and sexy and finally communicating, and it makes my shipper heart so happy. And Greeley's protective stance? Freaking adorable, I just want more of him all the time. We also get more of my Ronan (sorry Ten), Ten, and the gang in this one, and I can't help but love this family they have all formed. This story had me laughing and smiling, tearing up (oh my gosh Aurora), and it may have given me palpitations towards the end.. and it was fantastic. A wonderful addition to the Cold Case Psychic world.

It was magical. Just like every other book by Pandora Pine, this story has that irresistible combination of magic, humor, sexiness, and sweetness.
Boston PD’s favorite captain, Kevin “Fitz” Fitzgibbon, and millionaire-philanthropist, Jace Lincoln, finally get their happily ever after. In the Cold Case Psychic series, we have followed their ups and down from their first meeting to their breakup. Now they have a final chance to make up for good. And they grab that chance with both hands, but not without the help of their friends and family.
The spark between Kevin and Jace has never faded, and it springs alive again big-time. The air sizzles when they are together. They needed their time apart to realize they can’t live without the other.
Some old-fashioned wooing does the trick, even if the morning after is a bit painful for some. They have to set aside their greatest fears, but then they have a wonderful future together with a sweet surprise waiting for them.
Although this book is not about them, Ronan and Tennyson are playing a stellar role in this story. With all their fun and banter and hilarious conversations. They kept cracking me up. No pun intended.
That Old Magic is a spin-off of the Cold Case Psychic Series and shouldn’t be read as a standalone. I recommend reading the books in order as there are a continual story arc and recurring characters.

Ready for Love!💖

I can count on one hand the times I have read a book out of order in a series. I never trust labels, but I do trust certain authors, and P. Pine is one of those. Having read her "Student Bodies," series I knew it would be okay for me to not have read the previous books, in this series, to know what the blazes was happening . So, when an ARC came across my desk regarding two of the main characters in this story in an upcoming P. Pine book, I wanted to backtrack and see where they got started. All that to say, if you need a good stand alone HEA, like a good psychic or two, with a dash of May/ December MM romance, you picked the right author.

This is about Cold Case Boston Police Captain, Kevin Fitzgibbon (Fitz) and Philanthropist, Jace Lincoln, the man Fits has had an erratic on again off again relationship with until he finally calls it quits on Valentine's Day. 💔

While the story centers around these two men, The secondary characters play vital roles to the story, as do the homeless shelter that Jace funds and helps operate, and the police station that Kevin works in.

This is a fast read, low in angst, and high in entertainment value with minor errors. 💋

This is another amazing addition to my favorite series! I have loved Kevin forever and I am so glad that he and Jace get their own story. As always with Pandora Pine's books it is beautifully written, full of action, hilarious, angsty and the characters are incredible. My favorite line is from Jace - He wondered if Hallmark had a line of “Sorry you caught me fucking your Dad” cards. - I laughed so hard after reading this and again later as he said he actually looked for a card to give to Greeley because he was so embarrassed. I was not a fan of Jace because of his actions in previous books but I really like him in this one. He and Kevin both took Tennyson's advice and worked on themselves for several months which led to them deciding to give their relationship another try. I love how many of the characters show up in this book and the pivotal roles played by Ronan and Tennyson as they help Jace and Kevin. There are a few really sad moments in this story as well as some truly beautiful moments depicting their future. I can't wait to read the next book in this exciting and delightful series.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

This is the story I've been waiting for. Kevin Fitzgibbon and Jace Lincoln, two important side characters in the Cold Case Psychic world, have been driving each other crazy. Knowing that there was a version of the future where they would end up together forever, Fitz didn't work as hard as he should have to make their relationship a good one. He thought it was basically a done deal. For his part, Jace had never had a loving relationship before, and he basically fell apart under the stress of being part of one. Both men were idiots and jerks, and they haven't been together for a while. But now, after reading self-help books recommended by Tennyson and going to therapy to begin working on being better for each other, Fitz and Jace are ready for a do-over. This is their story, and it is great! I laughed, I cried a little, and I came away very happy with the romance and deep love between Kevin and Jace.

I have enjoyed Kevin Fitzgibbon since he was first introduced and am over the moon with the HEA he got. He realizes, with help from his friends/family, that just because something is seen by a psychic does not mean that you do not have to work on it. So, he works on himself then focuses on Jace.

Jace Lincoln has had what would appear to be an easy life as the son of a wealthy family. Instead, that wealth caused him to stay in the closet and even when he was finally free to be himself, he was lost on how a relationship should work. Taking the advice of his friends/family, he focuses on himself after the last break-up with Fitz.

We get to visit old friends and there will be so many laughs. I adore seeing Greeley as he grows and you will cry with laughter during one scene that has him in it. You will also gasp and cry during other parts but their HEA is well worth it.

Fitz & Jace

If you’ve read the Cold Case Psychic series you’re probably like me in wanting to know more about Captain Kevin Fitzgerald (Fitz) and Jace Lincoln’s story. I was excited when this novella came out because I’ve been rooting for them through the Cold Case series. I likes getting to know more about them, catching up with Ronan, Tennyson and the gang. I loved the work that Fitz and Jace each put into bettering themselves to make their relationship work. And roller skating? I hadn’t thought about that in years!!

This can definitely be read as a stand-alone, but if you’d like to learn more about the characters in this book I suggest checking out the Cold Case Psychic series by Pandora.

Another great story in this series. I am still working through the original series but am loving these and though there are bits from those books referred to here it doesn’t take away from the enjoyment of the story. The best part is that I just really got to know Kevin in the last Cold Case book I read so this was the perfect follow up.

Even though we didn’t actually see Kevin and Jace’s initial try at a relationship I loved watching them trying again and putting everything into what they have now. It moved a bit fast but the feelings were there before they gave it another try and they didn’t hold anything back from the other.

I received an ARC of this book and am giving an honest review.

Nice addition to the series

This book offers a nice slice of life view into the Cold Case Psychic crew. We finally get Fitz and Jace’s romance back on track and we get to see more of characters we’ve grown to love. Most of the book is about the attempts by Jace and Fitz to get their romance back on track after a February break up. However there is a climatic event near the end that looks like it is something that will be addressed in a future book.

The book gives us more “wise for his age” Greeley, more cuteness from Carson and Truman’s triplets, an enjoyable look into the future and a nice summarizing worldview of the series thus far. Looking forward to the next two books due out soon!

They're finally together...

Truthfully, when the first chapter started with Kevin, I kinda hoped he was going to end up with someone other than Jace. Really, I wasn't too enthusiastic about the book at all. Its only a novella but I kept getting bored and doing other things so it took me all day to finish. Nothing exciting happened until near the end and there was no closure on that situation so I assume it will carry on into another book. The epilogue was awesome and I almost upped my rating based on that alone but then I remembered all the editing errors and changed my mind. Seriously, parentheses in the wrong places or missing altogether, wrong words, wrong names... Ugh. Obviously, it's not bad enough to put me off the series completely. It's just distracting.

This is the fourth book in The Cold Case Psychic Spin Off Novellas Series. A great book the writing was good. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters likeable. The characters were developed and thought out. Kevin Fitzgibbon and Jace Lincoln are the MC’s of this book. There was humor, self-help books, therapists, a shooting, children, police, dates and more in this book. I enjoyed this book I would’ve liked more story, but it was still good. I can recommend this book as a good read. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

Kevin and Jace have had a bumpy road to their Happily Ever After but you can't help but root for these two men to get it together and embrace their future together. They are sexy, funny, caring men and their story gives all the feels. They have grown alot individually to get to where they are and that is relatable. You need to look at yourself before you can embrace love with another sometimes. I love this group of characters and the universe created by Pandora Pine.

☆☆☆I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.

That Old Magic, a fun and flirty second chance romance, is a spin-off of the Cold Case Psychic Series by Pandora Pine.

Kevin and Jace have called off their rocky relationship, but Kevin is not happy about it. When they are reunited at a bar, both men start to reconsider things.

What follows is an entertaining chase by Jace to win his man back. And, of course, we get to catch up with all of our own favorite men from the series.

That Old Magic has the same entertaining and relaxing pace of Pandora Pine's other books.

Getting love and relationship right this time! I have been so looking forward to Fitz and Jace’s romance and getting them together and happy. This book so delivers with so many bonus features. I loved also getting to see so many of our loved characters form the previous books.

I am so happy that we get to see our MC's get their HEA. I loved the pacing and story-line of this book and i found myself smiling so many times. I am so enjoying these spin offs and I am biding my time till the next book.

The ending was amazing and the sneak peek into the future was wondrous!

Police captain and a philanthropist declined chance MM Romance

2.5 stars!

I HATE Kevin and Jace together! Nothing really changed for these two in their 4 months apart. It takes more than 4 months to change someone.

I also felt this book had a bunch of unusual typos/mistakes and inconsistencies which was a bummer as this author is usually really good with that stuff.

Overall, this was my least favorite book so far but it was necessary for Kevin to get a love story but I'm not down with his choice.

Another triumph in the Cold Case Psychic series

Fitz and Jace have had one heck of a rocky relationship between explosive arguments, tragic deaths and murders these two need a break literally and figuratively. Don't expect this story to be all rose petals and string quartets playing love songs but it's about what you can expect from our stubborn Captain with a heart of gold. Like anything in our favourite Captain's life, nothing comes easy or without some tough dramatic events so hang onto your seats for the ride.

Fitz and Jace

Paranormal dual point of view
Recommend reading Dead in the Water first.
Fitz and Jace tried dating and it was difficult. A chance meeting is the incentive both need to reach out and see if maybe things can be different.

Wanted more Greeley and Jace interactions. Appreciated how it addressed the challenges from the first time and had them discussing how to address this time. Liked that they were slower. Want to know what caused the end, hoping it will be discussed in future books.

Enjoyed.

I have been so excited to read about Cap Fitzgibbon's story. He is such an integral part of the Cold Case Psychic series, and we learn so much about him. His story has been worth the wait. He and Jace make such a good couple because they are such different men. My only regret is this book is not a full length novel. Hopefully there will be other novellas to follow the captain. Great work once again Pandora Pine.

Finally, Kevin and Jace's story, and what a wonderful story it turned out to be! I have loved every book in this series and I was so glad to finally get their story of the second chance they so deserve. It has quite a bit of angst but definitely worth it to get to their HEA. You can really feel their connection and their love throughout this book. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

Brilliant!

This is an awesome series, and this spin off novella was a great addition. Fitz and Jace were complicated and nothing came easy for either of them. Just when it was all coming together, an incident occurs that nearly separated them forever. Great writing, the usual snark from favourite characters, suspense and of course , love. Looking forward to more. I just love all of these guys!

They Did The Work, & I Loved It

This spin-off novella in the Cold Case series felt more anchored the the previous ones. Fitzgibbon and Ronan were hilarious, the humor was more spot on, as was the pacing. It felt more like an actual Cold Case novel in the main series. Also, it’s neat to see a couple who didn’t work out well the first time, DO THE WORK to work out the second time around.

Finally Kevin & Jace

I feel like I have been waiting forever for this story. Kevin is one of my favorite characters in The Cold Case series. I really enjoy how strong of a character he is with such a gooey center. I had a hard time accepting Jace at first but he became the perfect man for Fitz. And of course all the characters that have become family and their continuing stories.
