Murder in the Mix #4

Gingerbread and Deadly Dread

Rate this book
My name is Lottie Lemon and I see dead people. Okay, so I rarely see dead people, mostly I see furry creatures of the dearly departed variety, who have come back from the other side to warn me of their previous owners impending doom.
And that horrible scenario happens to be playing out at the moment where I see a beautiful long departed pooch hovering around a questionably two-timing Santa and all his naughty-hottie elves. Quite frankly, it’s a terrifying sight considering the fact the fantastic phantasm is an ominous harbinger for its previous owner.
So when I find my sister’s boyfriend face down in the snow with a handful of my tasty gingerbread treats I’m not only sorry for him, but I’m very sorry that I had a blowout with him in front of the entire town of Honey Hollow. And just like that, I get the one thing for Christmas I did not ask for—a number one spot on the suspect list.
I have a feeling this is going to be one Christmas I’d rather forget.

Lottie Lemon has a brand new bakery to tend to, a budding romance with perhaps one too many suitors, and she has the supernatural ability to see the dead—which are always harbingers for ominous things to come. Throw in the occasional ghost of the human variety, a string of murders, and her insatiable thirst for justice, and you’ll have more chaos than you know what to do with.

Still think she's hankering after the wrong guy!

Another winner. Great storyline and enough red herrings to put you off the right trail. Wonderful to catch up with the characters who feel like friends although I still think that Noah isn't the right one for her. If he was then she would have already told him that she sees ghosts. Okay more specifically animal ghosts belonging to people that are about to be murdered or have just been murdered.
She and Noah have made plans to spend quality time together only to have it disrupted by a murder. The murder of her sister's boyfriend who seemed to be spreading himself around the female population of their town. Now as she and Everett (Noah's step brother and her next door neighbour) investigate they are followed by Dutch (and beautiful dog that used to belong to the dead man). As they delve into Tanner's life it seemed that not only the female population but also quite a few of the males had a good reason to want him dead. Infidelity, stolen packages and Christmas are all wrapped up in a terrific read that you will fly through.

Lottie is in for a treat this go around. Her sister is the prime suspect with Tanner being murdered. Not on was he cheating on one woman but appears to be several women.

Dutch is a cute dog which she sees this time and he doesn’t seem to want to leave.

Noah of course is investigating and Lottie and Everett team up. This time things might not go so well when Noah finds out Everett knows something he doesn’t.

For me this series is getting better and better with each book. The characters are staying strong and the plot keeps getting better.

Was I wrong to assume that this novel would be at least a bit festive? The plot really didn’t work for me, and the character choices were quite bizarre. I still like Lottie, though, and I’ll give the next book a try anyway. However, I find it very peculiar that a book that claims to be “clean” has such an unhealthy relationship with sex. Why do we need kink in the book at all? And why do the characters talk like children about sex? I’m sorry, but if somebody told me they were going to “frost my cookies”, I’d hand them a spatula.

Baking and murder seem to be on the menu in this cozy whodunnit.

Some laugh out loud moments, a dash of romance, and a murder to solve are all the elements for an entertaining read. This book has them all.

I'm mystified as to why this cozy gets the 5-star ratings it has. It is a typically poorly-written, cliched chick-lit that is mediocre at best. Won't read more by this author.

It’s never a dull moment in Honey Hollow. The same can go for Lottie and her many suitors. This story was such a fun and lots of laughs with this bunch. And you can’t forget Dutch I enjoyed his visit just as much as Lottie. And can’t wait to go back to this town.

Okay, so I've made it to book #14 in this series, and I feel like I need to post a review for all the books I've read up to this point. These books rea all set pretty close together, so it's almost like you're reading one big, long story or watching a TV drama or soap opera. There are some really fun, interesting things in these books, and some other things that are problematic.

Things that I like:

The setting - Honey Hollow is one of those adorable little towns that exist almost exclusively in rom-com books or cozy TV shows. Think Stars Hollow, but in Vermont. It's the kind of town that has absolutely no major corporations in the downtown area. No McDonald's, no Walmart's, nothing. Everything is family owned. Every business decorates for whatever event/holiday/season is coming up or going on and everyone in town is always at every event. I'm here for that. If I could find this kind of town in RL, I would be in heaven. I'm sure that some place, somewhere, is like this, and I haven't found it yet, so that's why I'm saying it's almost exclusively in books or shows. But I do really love this little town.

Most of the side characters - I love Keelie and Meg the most of the side characters, but Lainey, Brittany, and even Cormack are fun and have enough quirks to keep them interesting. I'm not saying they are perfect, but they are a lot of fun and I want a friend group just like them.

The premise - I'm not going to do spoilers for any of the books, but this isn't really a spoiler, since it is literally the first paragraph in every book. Lottie's power is really cool and something different from the normal cozy mystery realm. She sees ghosts of pets and people who are there to help her solve a murder of someone they are close to. Love this idea. It's really what sets this series apart from the other cozy mystery type stories. The fact that her powers do grow and shift, and her reaction to them, is something that seems like normal reactions.

Everett - I really like Everett. He's understanding, has his own demons, is a calming force on Lottie, and really cares about her. He tells her things that he's hidden from others in the past, which just shows how much he cares for her. And he's willing to give her time to figure things out on her own. He also supports her in everything, but mostly in her investigations. He knows she's going to do whatever it is she's going to do, so he tags along to make sure she's as safe as she can be in the situation. He doesn't try to fit her in a box of his own expectations, but lets her be her own person, which is very refreshing.

Things I'm on the fence about:

Lottie - Yes, the FMC herself. First of all, I do like Lottie. She has a lot of good points, and she genuinely cares about people and is fiercely loyal to her friends and family. She is stubborn and keeps going, no matter what obstacles are in her way. I like that part of her. However, the other part of her is a complete mess. The woman cannot make up her mind about her love life and frankly, it's pretty darn annoying. I get that it's easy to be attracted to two different men at once, but if she actually sat down and looked at how each of them treats her, she would be able to make her choice. That part of her makes her seem kind of airheaded and jealous all the time. I really don't like that treatment of her, even though those are normal emotions and behaviors, and she is relatable. But given how focused she is in her business and the other parts of her life, it's almost like the author is afraid to make a choice for Lottie and make someone mad. Which just leaves everything in a long, drawn-out romantic triangle that no one really asked for.

Things I really don't like -

Both of Lottie's mothers - Look, the backstory of Lottie's birth mom having been a teenage who got pregnant and left her to be adopted by her "parents" is good. Love the back story and the support Lottie gets from her adoptive family is great. But both of her moms act like they are mean girls in high school and the only thing they have to do is fight each other over who has which guy as a boyfriend now. After hearing about how much Miranda loved her deceased husband and spent 10 years not dating, to have her having a revolving door of dates now seems a bit of an overkill. I do think that people can and should have meaningful relationships after their SO's pass on, but her relationships seem so superficial and juvenile. Carlotta, on the other hand, has every reason to distrust men (that we know of. We don't get a whole lot of background on where she was and what happened for the 29 years she was gone), but she just jumps back into competing with Miranda for every man in her life. It's very 1980's soap opera-ish. And really, it's somewhat distracting to the main stories.

The constant repetition - There are certain words/phrases/paragraphs that seem as if they are just lifted from one book and dropped right into the next. Do we really need the first paragraph (which is also the blurb for every single book) about Lottie and her ability to see the dead? Couldn't the author think of a different way to work it in somewhere in the first chapter or so? Why don't we get any background as to why Lottie's powers are suddenly escalating? But nope, just the same "I'm Lottie Lemon and I see dead pets." every single story. Also, why does everyone refer to Lottie almost exclusively as Lottie Lemon? It's not like Lainey comes in and someone always says, "Lainey Lemon!" I'm sure there are multiple ways to keep putting her last name in there, if that's what the author is really wanting to do. And the shoulder shimmy and hip bump. It's like those phrases are used 40-50 times per book. The books are not that long at all. There is no reason for someone's shoulders to do a shimmy every other chapter or so.

Noah - I know this will probably cause some hurt feelings, but Noah is not a likeable character. He is controlling and stalkerish. His and Lottie's meet cute was cute. I enjoyed that. But then, Noah got problematic. I enjoyed the beginning of his relationship with Lottie. He was her pick, and Everett was there in the background, but I was fine with Noah. UNTIL Brittany showed up. Do you mean to tell me in SIX MONTHS Noah couldn't find one second to have a serious conversation with the woman he said he was falling in love with to tell her that his divorce was not finalized yet? Oh, his bad. He "forgot" to tell her. Just like he "forgot" to tell her that he put a tracker on her car. Is that even legal? Oh, and cameras pointing at her front door? Really? Hello, stalker. And when Lottie, who did not want to be the other woman, tells him that yes, she has feelings for him, but she is done with him because of his wife, he refuses to accept that. Instead of figuring out his relationship with Brittany (and Cormack -but that's next), he continuously busts in on Lottie and Everett. That really bothered me. Lottie set boundaries and eventually, when things had settled down, she and Noah could have been really good friends, but he refuses to accept the boundaries. He constantly interrupts Lottie and Everett, breaking in whenever they are alone and making snide comments about Everett. You know who doesn't do that later? Everett. When he tells Lottie to figure out who she wants to be with, he even says no to getting physical with Lottie so she can decide for herself between Noah and Everett. But Noah? Nope, Lottie is his toy and he can't stand other people touching his toys. And then, he "accidentally" gets engaged to Cormack and "can't find a way" to tell her that they are actually not engaged. He takes her on dates. Takes her to dinner. Takes her to relationship counseling. Let's Cormack throw them an engagement party. And through all of this, he keeps telling Lottie that "he just can't figure out how to get Cormack to understand." Idk, dude. Maybe stop taking her on dates? Slap her with a restraining order? You're a detective. Figure it out. OH, and that brings me the worst part of Noah (if you can believe that). He doesn't want a relationship with Lottie. He wants to own her and to put her in a box or on a shelf. The whole first part of their relationship is him telling Lottie to stay out of everything and be a good girl and get back in the kitchen. Look, I get she's a baker and he's trying to keep her safe. But there is ALWAYS a point in the books that he realizes she's far ahead of him in the investigation and all of a sudden, it's fine for her to be involved. As long as she follows his rules and does exactly what he says.

So, I read through the first 13 pretty quickly and have started 14. But I think I'm going to take a break, because the things I am annoyed with are slowly starting to outweigh the things that I like about this book series. Hopefully, when I go back and pick it up again, I'll be able to enjoy the stories once again.

This one wasn't as good as last two books... hope they pick it up and get back to the right road in the next one.

I can say that I am starting to dislike Noah more... and more. Not liking this guy much or really... their romance. I would be much more happier if this did not have any romance... or if she romanced Everett. I like him more... I like their talk and moments in this book and the past ones too.

Hopefully she tells Noah her secret soon, she should, it's not alright, even if I don't like the guy.

Nell and what she has to tell to our heroine, has me waiting for next book. Hope nothing happens to her and she actually gets to say it to our heroine.

I also hope they stop with this... 'she's is the suspect'.. in every book. I know this can be read as a stand-alone novel but it's better if you read it back-to-back because of characters... and when writer makes her the same 'old suspect' all over again... it get repetitive. Even if there is character growth but this part irks me and I am starting to dislike it but will need to bear with it because I find most of characters lovable and want to see where their story goes... 'till the latest book, if it doesn't go the wrong way much.

You can’t help but fall in love with this series, Addison Moore knows how to write such amazing gripping stories and you can’t help but love the characters. Yet again, Addison has wrote another amazing novel that will have you gripped to the edge of your seats until the very end. With each book you have no idea in which direction it will take you but the journey is always worth it, seriously I couldn’t find any fault with this book as always Addison has done an amazing job. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book, seriously though, if you’ve not got caught up yet you need to start this series as it’s pretty amazing.

Lottie Lemon is going about business as usual, Christmas tends to be the most busiest time of year. However after some careful planning between her and her boyfriend Noah, they have managed to sort things out so that they can finally hide away from the rest of the world and take their relationship to the next level….. or so they thought. Thanks to Lottie ending up in yet another investigation it really does seem like someone is out to frame her. Will she be so lucky this time?

These books just get better and better as the series progresses. I sure hope there are several more books in this series. Lottie is such a great character and you can just never tell what is going to happen next with her. Lottie, Noha, Everette and the entire gang are at it again.

Lottie always seems to stumble upon dead bodies. and this time her sister and her sister's ex-boyfriend are the prime suspects for the death of her two-timing, cheating boyfriend. Lottie catches him cheating twice during the annual Christmas party and when her sister saw him things got a little crazy and next thing you know Tanner is found dead and now Lottie is busy trying to find the murderer so she can spend the holiday with her boyfriend Noha.

Things take some wild and crazy turns but all works out for almost everyone in the end.

If you have read any of these books you will want to read this one and will be holding your breath for the next one. If you have not read any of these books, what are you waiting for? Now is a great time to start reading them.

It's no surprise that Lottie Lemon finds herself another dead body for an early Christmas present. It obviously puts her on top the prime suspect list along with her sister. So what's a girl like Lottie Lemon to do? Bake some cookies and start investigating of course! With a new supernatural furry friend by her side she will no doubt solve this case. Not only is she trying to clear her name and the names of those she loves.....she also has a hot date with detective Noah Fox to tend to and this case is getting in their way! This book is much like the others in the series so far. There is of course the mystery of the murder which gives it lots of suspense but this one delves more into Lottie's personal life and boy are things getting interesting! I don't want to spoil anything so I won't go into details but you NEED to read this book! Especially if you have read the others in the series! You will not be disappointed!!

Addison completely tipped the list with this one!! One cheating boyfriend, and one golden pooch with glowing red eyes maybe for one seriously great story, with one helluva plot twist at the end!!!
Lottie knows her sister boyfriend is a serial cheat, she just can't prove it. Once she spots a beautiful golden dog that nobody else can see, she knows something bad is coming her way. When she's found with the murder weapon in hand, she jumps through some CRAZY hoops to clear her good name. Add Lots less evolve, she come to a serious plot twist!!! But, the question is..... Can you handle it? Can Lottie handle it?

Lottie Lemon is a character you would love to have as a friend. The character development that Addison has used creates relatable characters that you feel invested in. The storyline has built throughout the series giving you a deeper connection to the events and character relationships. A lot of times you see series that struggle to produce books that meet, let alone exceed the previous book. That is definitely not the case here! Each book just keeps getting better! I can't wait to read the next book in the series!!

What could have and should have been a good story was screwed up by a lot of juvenile, inane garbage. Who pencils in sex and frosts cookies? What are they, teenagers? And any woman who wants a man who has to schedule a date for sex in order to frost her cookies in lieu of a tall, handsome, well built, intelligent man who schedules nothing but relies upon nature and spontaneity to "make love" to her is an idiot.
But, then again, anyone who follows a murderer into the woods automatically qualifies as an idiot. All in all, not a heroine made in heaven.
Needless to say, I doubt I will be reading any further books in this series as I really do not like insulting my intelligence.

Two stars - it was okay. Really, really cheesy, but interesting enough for me to keep reading til the end, but I was glad when it was over. Reminded me of a Hallmark Christmas movie - entertaining enough if there's nothing else to watch, but not great.

Engrossing but Confusing

In Gingerbread and Deadly Dread, book 4 in Murder in the Mix, Addison Moore creates a complex story of affairs and murder, confusing the reader but ultimately solving the crimes (there are two) in an unexpected manner.
After a Christmas party at Lottie Lemon's bakery, Dutch, the ghost of a golden retriever, leads Lottie to the body of Tanner--who's apparently slept with half of Honey Hollow, Vermont and earned many enemies in the process. The weapon appears to be an icicle, clever because it could stab hi!m in the neck and then melt in the first spring thaw. However, the case may not be as open-and-shut as everyone thinks. Noah and Lottie, who've been trying to pencil in a date for Noah to "frost her cookies", are delayed several times by his gorgeous partner, Ivy, who needs him to work late. Lottie knows it's important but still feels jealous of Ivy and can't help showing it. Ivy doesn't care, however; she just wants the case solved NOW, no matter how Lottie feels about her partner. She is, in short, a shrew.
Dutch, unlike the previous ghosts, wants attention and becomes solid when Lottie rubs his belly. He is, in short, a love-bug. Yet like her earlier ghosts, he leads her to a potential suspect, Ned, a ventriloquist with a creepy wooden dummy attached to his arm by what looks like tinsel. He invites Lottie to see his dummy collection, and she's weirded out but travels with her sisters--Lainie in the car and Meg (a pro wrestler) via Zoom from Vegas. Seeing no one home, they sneak around the porch and Lottie spies many wide eyes through the open window of Ned's office. Startled, she falls into the office and doesn't notice Noah responding to the alarm alert until he orders her and Lainie to halt. Guess who's behind him and says he'll have to work late again? It looks like Lottie's cookies will remain unfrosted for another night...
Finally, Lottie spots a woman going onto Everett's porch and quickly returning with a package. (Everett, a judge and Noah's ex-stepbrother, lives next door to Lottie on the same street as Noah--see book 3 for the backstory; it's too complicated to explain here.) She chases the package thief, Dutch trips her, the getaway car drives away, and yet again Noah shows up, only to be told by Ivy--again--he needs to work late. Eyes roll as cookie frosting is delayed AGAIN, and Lottie wants to murder Ivy--as long as no ghostly creatures lead a person with special sight to her body! Ivy doesn't, though, so Lottie gives up that daydream.
Tanner's murder is still unsolved, but Lottie takes a break to cater a gala at a swanky hotel that sends her mother's B&B their overflow guests. Lottie's widowed mother is there with her new beau, who Lottie recalls was into very kinky stuff (book 3). Lottie shudders, leaves the embarrassing couple, and heads down a hallway only to find Ned and his stepdaughter Brenda in a fight. Based on Brenda's threat to tell her mother, Lottie assumes they're talking about his affair with the sex therapist Lottie visited earlier with both Noah and Everett (by accident; long story) and confronts Ned about Tanner's murder. Ned confesses to suffocating him after he was stabbed with the icicle but thinks the sex therapist stabbed Tanner after finding out about yet another affair he was having! (This is where I decided to dock the book a star and thought about making a chart.) With Ned's confession, the murder is solved; Ned's car is identified as the psckage thief's getaway car--the two crimes were connected; how convenient; and Honey Hollow goes back to normal, with one important exception. Noah and Lottie finally get alone time, and her cookies get several layers of frosting!
As I mentioned before, the maze of who cheated on whom got very confusing, and so was the transformation of Dutch from ghostly to corporeal and back again. The plot, however, seamlessly integrated the murder with the package theft ring and introduced another character who can see animal ghosts: Nell, Lottie's best friend's grandmother and owner of the property where the diner and the bakery stand. I expect to see more of Nell and hear her promised story in book 5 or 6. For now, I recommend reading this book--with a pen and paper in hand!

Another fun read in this series. I must say one thing that is in the forefront of my thoughts - NO! I really like Noah, I do, but Everett seems so much hotter! It’s so clear to see that Everett is really into Lemon and wants to also…really be into her (wink). But anyway, he truly cares for her. I mean, who else would go along with all of her crazy adventures?! Mr. Sexy himself, that’s who!

Noah is a sweetheart and has fallen hard for Lottie and I can tell the feeling is mutual, but deep down inside she’s beginning to question herself about just how close she actually is to Everett. She actually revealed her deepest darkest secret to him! She really does need to tell Noah, too. When she does that, she’ll feel a deeper connection to him.

That brings me to Nell. I’ve had the feeling that Nell is blood related to Lottie somehow and not just an adopted grandma. And now Nell said something toward the ending of this read that has Lottie’s brain spinning with questions. And guess who Lottie told first about what Nell revealed? Everett! Not Noah, but Everett. Nell told Lottie that she’ll sit down and have a chat with her to tell her everything, but not until after the holidays. My goodness I hope Nell doesn’t die or get killed off!!! Addison Moore, please don’t let Nell die! I don’t want her dying not only because she’s an awesome person, but also because I believe Lottie deserves to know about her past and where she came from before being dropped off at the firehouse as an infant.

At least Lottie and her beau finally got their cookies frosted! Lol.

I guess I’ll find out more in the next book of this 44 book series: “Seven-Layer Slayer (MURDER IN THE MIX Book 5)”.

So it’s March and here I am reading holiday cozies, but I just can’t help myself… especially when the mystery is as delightful as Gingerbread & Deadly Dread.

It’s the Christmas season in Honey Hollow and Lottie Lemon is up to her elbows in gingerbread! However, she’s about to be deep in another murder investigation when she discovers the body of her sister’s ex-boyfriend, while delivering treats for a holiday party.

This is my new favourite series, because it’s incredibly zany and fun. Lottie reminds me a lot of Stephanie Plum … she’s always getting herself into crazy situations. Like attending a sex therapy session with her boyfriend and her friend, acting as a polyamorous couple to find clues! Only Lottie could get away with that and keep her boyfriend!

The mystery centres around Lottie’s sister, Lainey, and her ex-boyfriend, who is the victim. Lottie and Everett stick their noses in the investigation, trying to absolve Lainey and Lottie of the crime. I didn’t manage to solve this one before Lottie, and the final denouement was wonderfully thrilling.

This is a long series. Gingerbread & Deadly Dread is book 4 of 50! I’m so hooked on this series and I’m definitely in it for the long game. I just hope the long game is Lottie and Everett. Everett is Lottie’s boyfriend’s ex-step-brother, and the way Lottie shares more with Everett then she does with Noah makes my romantic-loving heart hope that Lottie and Everett is the long game plan.

If you enjoy adorable paranormal cozy mysteries then this series is for you. I can’t wait to read the next one, Seven-Layer Slayer.

***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.***

Another amazing book from the talented Addison Moore! Lottie Lemon and her men are back in action solving the mysterious mysteries that just keep popping up in Honey Hollow. I don't know too many small towns where this many murders would keep occurring, but I love the series and how Addison Moore has this great knack for looping and linking everything together. She really leaves no plot holes throughout these books! Yes she is just that good! All you Nano writes for the month of November... take note!

Of course Lottie Lemon was the one to find the body who just so happens to be her sisters boyfriend who they had just found cheating on her with another chick. Yeah... So you can already imagine how that looks. This book was a crazy whirlwind to find out who the killer was and why.

If you have not started this series yet, go grab your copy now!

She finds another dead body, but this time, she is the number one suspect, then her sister, and her boyfriend? Who killed him? Will Noah and Lottie ever get together? Or is fate and Ivy determined to keep them apart? Can their love grow with all the secrets and interference she keeps doing? An awesome, entertaining, exciting adventure is full of unpredictable surprises, unexpected twists and turns, murder, mayhem, betrayal, secrets and dead pets! This pet seems to be more real, she can see hear, and touch him! Is Dutch here to stay, how will she explain him to Noah? Will she survive when she confronts the murderer? Will Noah be able to save her in time? Will they finally get a chance to be together?

I'm quite enjoying Addison Moore's murder mystery series with a sort of goofy small town baker who happens to solve murders on the side. Lottie is always getting herself in trouble and somehow getting involved in murders that happen in her small New England town. Getting to know the cast of characters of her town is part of the fun. There is also a paranormal side to this as she sees dead pets and sometimes people. There is something of a love triangle running through a few books so far and I personally would prefer her with the other guy who knows about her abilities and who she seems more herself and more honest with. But I don't know what will happen in the future. This one is set at Christmas making it a fun Christmas murder mystery for our happy baker to solve.

Addison moore creates an awesome story with romance, mystery, and comedy. This rom-com/murder mystery is so good, you won't want to put it down.
Lottie Lemon sees dead pets and, as of late, this tends to lead towards fatalities. She stumbles upon yet another dead body and, this time, she and her sister are the top suspects. Since her boyfriend, Noah, is busy trying to solve the case with the police department, she inquires the help of his sexy ex-stepbrother, Everrett, to help clear her sisters good name.
These books have quickly became my favorite new series of this year. I can't get enough of Lottie Lemon and the trouble she seems to get herself in!

Lottie again finds herself in the center of a murder in her small town. As usual, she finds herself in the suspect list, along with her sister and several other people. So beings her interesting journey to finding out who the murderer is and she becomes attached to the dog that has now taken up residence in her heart and home. Everett and Noah still seem to be vying for her attention and she seems clueless as to Everett's true feelings. The story played out well and was interesting. Liked how Tanner was exposed for being a two-timing loser on her sister. Can't wait to read the next one in the series.

I’ve quite enjoyed the previous books in this series, but this one felt really phoned in. There were so many cringy lines repeated over and over again and I just wanted them to stop.

The love triangle between Everett, Noah, & Lottie is usually funny and interesting, but this time it just felt awkward and weird. It really felt like the author wanted to write a romance book and then was reminded by her editor that this is supposed to be a cozy mystery series so she threw some half assed murder mystery into the story.

Very disappointed with this one. :/ Hopefully the next book in the series is better..

An agreeable diversion

It's just Lottie's luck! Minutes before her new friend leads her to a body, Lottie, her sister, and her sister's true love all had very loud and public altercations with the victim. And so begins another well-written adventure with great comedic timing as Lottie tries to keep herself and her loved ones out of handcuffs. The murder circumstances are rather improbable, but the story is diverting; the Noah/Everett situation is going to get old quickly, though. And I knew Grandma Nell knows more than she's been sharing! Can't wait for THAT big reveal...!

solid mystery

This had a really good mystery that kept my attention. To add the supernatural element of seeing ghosts to help solve the case made this unique and added even more interest to the story.

The holiday vibes were sold too. I liked that there were touches here and there, but also influenced the mystery greatly.

I have read this series all out of order so have glimpses of plot points in the future. Just like in other books I have read in the series, I was just over the romantic drama. I don’t like the triangle. I wish that was pushed a little more to the side.

Gotta say, I called it

Another murder, a suspect again, what's a girl gotta do to clear her name?

While at the latest Christmas party, Lottie stumbles on the body of her sister's boyfriend. The same boyfriend she caught with anotherv woman, on more than one occasion. The same guy she and Lainey both threatened with bodily harm. With the help of her friends, she'll find the killer and hopefully, get to spend time with her boyfriend too.

Some happily ever afters and a revelation too. Still waiting on Everett's turn to find love.
