About the author

G.K. De Rosa has been an avid reader from a very young age. In fact, before she could even read, she tried fooling everyone into thinking that she could. At the precocious age of two, while living in Italy, she had memorized an entire children’s book in Italian and expertly turned the pages at the exact right moments of the story. As she grew up, she always enjoyed literature, no doubt having been instilled with a love of story telling from her early years in Catholic school where she was greatly influenced by exemplary teachers who taught her the value of English and Literature. Though she did not pursue writing in college and instead went for the more traditional route of International Business inspired by her love for travel and all things foreign, after a move to New York City, she found her creative writing side calling once again. She began writing a restaurant review blog, City Lights and Tasty Bites, detailing her other passion – food! The hectic hustle and bustle of the city, combined with long commuting times gave her the opportunity to spend more time reading and rekindled a lost love. After reading countless books in many diverse genres over the two years in New York City, and returning to her home state of Florida, she felt compelled to write something for herself. She had always felt particularly drawn to Young Adult novels and having been an eternal romantic at heart, a fantasy romance was a natural choice. She currently lives in South Florida with her real life Prince Charming and their fur baby, Nico the German Shepherd.

The earth has been devastated by a war between vampires and angels and mankind has almost totally been wiped out. That is a great start to a story line, but it gets better. A girl, her dog and her best friend set out looking for food. The best friend gets taken but then appears a mysterious stranger who joins the team. I will leave things there so not to ruin your reading of the book. Great characters and a well developed world and story make this book one you will not want to put down until you finish it. I honestly believe you need to read this book. I received a free copy of the book but my review is completely voluntary and unbiased.

This an awesome start to this urban fantasy! A war between angels and vampires , a girl trying to save a friend, a gorgeous stranger appears to assist, a page turning slow burning romance is correct and I was hanging onto every last word! I can't wait to read more!

This is the first book I read from this author, and I will definitely be reaching for the rest of the books in this series.
I loved the premise of this story. The twist on the idea of angels was fascinating, and I am looking forward to what she does for the vampires. This is the first book in a very long time that I read start to finish in one day. It held my attention.
However, if I could give half-stars I would, and would give a 3.5
There were just some things that really frustrated me that I couldn't let go.

1. Liv couldn't do anything without the men in her life.
Seriously, there are absolutely NOOOO women in this entire book except Liv until the very end. Even the NPC's she runs across are all men (save for 1 vampire).
The female we do meet at the end, who I believe is supposed to take on the role of Wise Mentor, is NOT a good role model for Liv.

2. Liv is along for the ride in her own adventure. Liv has all these ideas of what she wants to do, but it's everyone else around her who figures out how to implement those ideas, and then takes her along for the ride. She offers absolutely nothing of value, which is incredibly frustrating.

3. Liv's personality is confusing.
One minute she is pining over her lost love/bff and making plans to rescue him, the next minute she's jumping out of her skin at the tiniest sounds. Liv has zero bravery, and then the next minute she does? But she doesn't do anything with it. So, does she need all these men to do everything for her or not?

4. The romance moved too fast.
If the person I had a crush on for years suddenly kissed me (and incredibly passionately), and I am on a quest to save him, I highly doubt I would be so easily swayed to having feelings for someone else, no matter how handsome or "angelic" they might be, and so quickly.
I think something about this may be revealed in future books based on what Sammarah said at the end of the book, but I wish this had been explained just a smidge.

5. I honestly think this book would have benefitted from a prologue - which is pretty rare. This would have given the author more time to focus on better character development instead of having to explain about the war.

6. Duke was adorable, but he also added nothing of value to the story. I honestly thought she would have been better off leaving him with the FBI agent at the beginning. He just proved cumbersome, and it was like the author had to figure out ways to incorporate the dog to keep it in the story. It became incredibly annoying and didn't add value to the plot since Duke doesn't really do anything. He doesn't tackle vampires or find a hidden clue. So, why is he there? He's not really comic relief either, so I don't understand his continued inclusion.

Overall, it's a good book, and I am looking forward to the rest of the books in the series.

I first came across G.K.Derosa back in April 18 when I read and enjoyed her “The Vampire Prophecy Series”. This quickly put her in my favourite authors list. Now with Wings & Destruction she has moved up in her ranking. For me, to have an author make my list, they need to show and sustain their creative abilities, keeping me engaged in the storyline, showing me a new world that can be as believable as my next breath. Emotions? To me, I need to connect to the characters, I want to feel their every fear, happiness, joy & grief. I want to Become invested in their lives, hopes & dreams. Then to me, they become a person, not just fictional. G.K.Derosa has hit everyone of my hopes, that turns a story writer in to an “Author” She has taken the words on the story pages of Wings & Destruction and breathed life into them. She has bought originality & existence into a dark world, making her characters jump off the pages, with you hot on their heels. I became invested from chapter one, in the hard life and impossible world “Liv” the main female lead is part of. She has been surviving and hiding with the support of her best friend. Now because of her, he has gone. Now she has to start “Living & Fighting “ everg step she takes. Every fear & horror she feels, you are right there alongside her. She then meets a guy who has been living in the same way, but in a totally different world. It will be a way that will either make her take flight, or stop and fight alongside him. He has so many secrets that will break or bond them, or maybe both. This is war !! One they found, could have an ending, if only they can find the beginning. A long the way you with become enthralled with their stories, their fears, hopes & dreams. You will feel the first buds of a love story, but in a world full of secrets & lies, will there ever be a time for it to flourish. I also had a feeling that there is something about “Liv” that even she is unaware of. The introduction to this new series from G.K.Derosa is inventive, sensitive and unprecedented, it certainly keeps me wanting more. I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me next.

Wings & Destruction is about a war of Vampires vs Angels and the declining population of humans because of it. I found this premise quite interesting but thought it was slightly lacking in both vampire and angel action as well as having minimal plot development until the very end. Despite these things it was an easy read with a good flow and the MC’s Liv and Declan were very likable and have great potential to evolve and kindle a romance in the future books.

Stepping out of my norm and glad I did. This was an unexpected story that you'd not expect when talking about Angels. Vampires! Yes, but to have the human race on the short end of the stick? Declan was another surprise, and Liv wasn't what I'd call a kick-ass heroine since she blamed Declan for all the bad. You'd have to read the book to understand what I mean.

I received this book as a free read for an honest review and glad I took the leap. Definitely not boring or something read before, so no similarities with other books. Kudos!

This is an epic series starter! It didn't take me long to fall in love with this book, there are so many elements in this story that i just love! The characters are amazing, they are strong and somewhat mysterious. I enjoyed following Liv and her trusty dog along in their struggles with the vampires and the angels with the help of their friends. There is plenty of action along their way, and when you are done reading you can't help but want to know what will happen with them next!

Fabulous Storytelling!!😱🌟

I'm surprised to be giving another 'New to Me' Author a 5 Star rating today but you can't punish fab reads because they're back to back - I just want to bask in their brilliance instead!✨🌟✨

This is a tale about a 17 year old girl who has survived, so far, through a War between Vampires & Angels!!😳 Her Parents were slain by vampires as were her best friends family. They've been living in a safe room her Dad had prepared as the first signs of trouble showed up in New York City! Her & her Bestie Asher, along with her dog Duke are running out of food and have to make the decision to abandon their home to look for more. Its at the risk of being caught by the Stryx who are half Vampire or nephilim that are half Angel. The Stryx were more likely to kill them but the Nephilim would enslave them to the Angels tower or turn them into their soldier's, Neither was sure which option they'd prefer!😢

They travelled under the tree canopies as much as possible, it helped hide them from the Nephilim flying the murky skies above. After finding food & shelter they bed down for the night and a spark that had ignited months before, pre war, reared again. Ash reached for her & pulled her close then they kissed - finally!💋💕
Duke, Liv's beloved dog, takes off after a cat the next morning and without thought Liv gives chase. It's her worst mistake ... Ash follows her, throws himself on top of her but is snatched away and soars into the sky held by a Nephilim, its giant grey wings beating to hard & fast for either of them to stop!!😱 Liv is heartbroken 😭💔

She starts her 300 mile journey to rescue Ash from the Angels & Nephilim of the Arx Tower in Washington DC! On her journey she meets, befriends & finds a connection with Declan. He's a rogue-ish type, quick to make her smile and blush but also to take her mind off of her terrible guilt & grief! It helps he's hot, has a gorgeous dimple & is built like a god 😉😎 Duke seems to trust him & dogs know, right?? He has secrets she doesn't know he's hiding though, it may change or even ruin their friendship for a number of reasons!!😞

The vulnerability shown towards the end, by Declan, is heart melting!💙💕 His emotional range opens right up, some of it is scary 😳 He's clearly falling for Liv in a big way 😊 Liv is strong in her heart but her body doesn't necessarily agree. I think she desperately wants her revenge or to at least put an end to Human-kinds suffering at the hands of these supernatural beings, she just doesn't see how!😢 Ash is a protector, it's in every cell of him to do all he can to save Liv from what he's witnessed as well from half the stuff she seems to want to charge headlong into!! I fear this may be his ultimate downfall at some point 😕

This book had my eyes misting up at 16% 😱 Wth?? So it ticks the emotive box 😉 It's absolutely gripping, you think you've probably guessed what will happen but then a curve ball gets thrown and then there's that ending?!😳 Dont get me started ... I could've torn my hair out but only because I want the next book NOW, Please!!🙏💥 I Loved the relationships between each character, they're written so well. The story flowed & the descriptions painted such a clear picture in my head of the 'scenes', what a wasteland the war had turned our world into but WHY??? 😱💥

Good enough

Very interesting world but the story has some unrealistic holes. There is a companion dog that provides little reason to be in the story other than a meaningless distraction. The encampment and stories of what the angels do with the humans doesn't account for the initial huge human population. Just holes that gnaw at the reader. Perhaps the feeling of incompleteness will be tackled in subsequent books? One can hope.

With vampires and angels raging war on Earth, the humans are forced to live in hiding and live off the scraps of what once was. Liv has resided with her best friend Asher and her dog Duke in hiding, moving from place to place. But when Asher is taken by the angels, Liv knows she's the only one who can save him.

Enter Declan. When he saves Liv from vampires, she realizes that the two of them are heading in the same direction: south, but not to the same destination. Declan has a motorcycle and promises to get Liv as close to D.C. as he can, but he has a secret that I will not speak of because it's EPIC. Despite his secret, he and Liv grow closer and closer and he realizes he won't let her walk into danger alone.

WINGS & DESTRUCTION gave me a "Walking Dead" type of feeling, with vampires and angels instead zombies, which is amazing. It's a great post-apocalyptic read that I couldn't put down. I love how tough Liv is and how she won't let anything stand in her way. As for Declan, I'm in love. He is protective of Liv and I love watching the relationship blossom between them.


Final Verdict: This is perfect for fans of vampires, angels, post-apocalyptic, action, and a twist of romance. G.K. DeRosa does it again with another amazing world for me to dive into!

I absolutely loved this book. It was so easy to get sucked right into the story from the very first page. Once I started reading it, I did not want to put it down. The characters were well written and intriguing, and the post-apocalyptic world executed perfectly.

Liv is surviving day by day in what’s left of the world after vampires and angels decimated it through war. Her only bright spot is her best friend Asher, but when he’s taken, what’s left of her meager world falls apart. Bound and determined to get Asher back, she’ll do whatever it takes to find him, even if that means risking her own life to do it. But it won’t be all she risks when she teams up with Declan, a mysterious traveller with secrets of his own.

If you love dark apocalyptic books with vampires, angels, and a little romance thrown in then you are going to love, love, love, Wings & Destruction. I can’t wait to read book two.

I am so in love with this book, its characters, the plot, the pacing, the world-building... everything is spot on.
In a post-apocalyptic setting where vampires and angels wage a war that wipe out most of humanity, Liv, her dog Duke, and her best friend Asher strike out to find supplies while trying to evade both warring species.
There's some romantic tension between the two before they get separated and Declan shows up.

Ahhhh, Declan. A super-hot, mysterious stranger with quite a few secrets, yet she's inexplicably drawn to him...especially after he saves her life. He's charming and a little bit roguish, and Liv can't resist him. (Who can blame her?)

The setting is as much a character as the people, well developed and perfectly described. There are so many mysteries surrounding Declan, the vampires, the angels, and the REAL reason behind the near-extinction of humanity, I can't wait to delve into book 2.

When I heard G.K. DeRosa had a new series out, I was ready for it! I love her books. You can't go wrong with an apocalyptic world where angels and vampires take over the human race. She brought the universe to life, showing the readers the imagery with each selective word.

Liv is a great character. She is feisty, fun and loyal. Who wouldn't want to be her friend? Liv is determined to make it to DC where her friend was taken by the angels to be a pawn in their war against the vampires. She meets different people and helping hands but none like the half-angel who steals a kiss and maybe her heart.

I can't wait to see where this story is headed. It will definitely be a wild ride and an unbelievable ending!

Amazing blend of fantasy and action in this apocalyptic series opener!

I’ve read everything by this author and Wings & Destruction did not disappoint. All Liv wants to do is save the one person she cares most for—even if it means trusting a stranger. Romance, action, suspense, and heartbreak were woven through every page. Angels versus vampires? How can it get any better? Both are immortal and neither are the good guys. How can humans win?

Liv, a mysterious guy, and a secret mission bigger than she can ever imagine… Please bring on book two!

As an advanced reader, I am giving an honest review of this new and upcoming book.

I was more than excited with the action in this book. There was something new around every corner, keeping me on the edge of my seat. The characters are well developed. Their feelings and reactions throughout the book are true to life.
Although the book ended at an ok place, I will be impatiently waiting for the rest of the story. I didn’t want to put this one down. This author will be added to my must read list.

Liv and Declan are my new favorite couple!! I loved the semi-uniqueness of this world. I did have some questions as to how the vampires could be on the same-level playing field but aside from that, it is an amazing start to what is to be a magnificent series!!

Outstanding read. Characters were great. And what a secret he keeps from her. This book is not to be missed.
