*I received a gifted copy from the author, all thoughts are my own"

I enjoyed the girls friendship in the beginning of the book but this was a dnf for me. As someone who suffers with audio hallucinations I didn't appreciate the character referring to that aspect as straight jacket crazy.

Just speaking from personal experience as someone who has been accused of being crazy that was a turn off and a bit insensitive. I'm sure that's not how the author meant it but everyone is open to their own interpretation.

That being said I think the story sounds like it has potential and I hope others enjoy it.

Right from the first few pages, I knew I wasn’t going to like this book. I decided to give it a chance, and while it got better towards the middle, it was whole mess that I won’t even spend my time going into.

I will say that I like my characters with a bit of brain and it’s unfortunate Lucy Ardler was simply Too Stupid To Live. Why anyone would VOLUNTARILY go into the woods again - alone may I add - after encountering a literal beast, beats me.

❤️ Juicylicious ❤️

Lucy is such a spunky girl in college with a crazy fashion sense Lucy's BFF /sister Ellie also goes to college with her and they're dating the sexy boys Axel and Alec then there is the legend the BEAST! The Lycan that is walking around so beware! There are some very hot steamy parts WOW YUMMY WILL! I would have loved to jump into that book there are so many twists I was literally at the end of my seat I truly enjoyed every minute of this book I can't wait for book 2 to come out and honestly if I could have gave this book more than five stars I truly would have Stephany absolutely outdid herself this book is amazing!

It wasn't what I was expecting in the least, but this is a good thing. A lot of authors have been writing classic fairytales into modern novels, but this was something else entirely. We have Lucy, the main female character, who is absolutely fabulous and at first seems to resemble Little Red Riding Hood a little too closely, but we soon see it is more of a mocking game from her family than a retelling. She has a quirky sense of fashion (which I love), and an obsession with cherry suckers and old cars, and doesn't let others' opinions dissuade her from living her life the way she wants. Lucy is also very intelligent, confident, knows herself and her needs, fearless, sassy, and not only a character I absolutely adore, but one I want to be friends with. She is the embodiment of everything I love in a female lead. I also enjoy that she comes from a loving family and is in a community where yeah, everyone knows everyone, but they seem to care and support each other. That being said, I have a feeling that a lot of secrets will be revealed over the course of the series.

Now down to the plot. I did not know what was going to happen from one page to the next. Seriously, Stephany kept me guessing which is actually hard to do with as much as I read. The upredictable nature of the book and the interesting characters keeps you hooked. You only get answers to your questions when the author deems it necessary and not a minute before. So with that being said...some spoilers...There is a lot of weird stuff going down with a murderous Lykan and wolves that seem almost human. Lucy, being the intelligent woman that she is, doesn't back down. No, instead she wants to figure out what is happening and recognizes humanity and hurt, even when no one else does. She even wins over the curmudgeony new guy in town. Not to mention every guy in this book is apparently hot, and we definitely can feel the heat. But everything isn't as it seems...and it does end on a cliffhanger!

This book has it all going on! I really loved it! The MC is a strong willed girl with her own sense of flair that is strangely more comfortable in the peril of the forest than the contradiction of her billionaire life. Her adventures of making the newcomer to her neighborhood her friend have brought with it strange curses, antics and phenomenons.

Stephany is a superb author and I have thoroughly enjoyed this page-turning, paranormal romance! On to book 2!

I received this book directly from the author for my honest review.

so when i first heard about this book i was curious because of the few ways it could go and after reading it im glad i decided to get this book its modern take on the classic tale of red riding hood and much more lucy adler and the rest of the characters in this story are verry well done and loved seeing how things went between lucy and her two love interests and then how things whent went it went from 2 to 1 and im glad she made the choice she did the plot and just about everything in this book was all verry well done and i cant wait for the next book my only gripe which is well my only gripe/issue with most books is the pesky cliffhanger you know the type to make you ravenous for the next book giggles well this one has one of them in there but we stil love stephany wallace even if she insists on tormenting us with these cliffhangers :) keep up the great work!

This book has a lot of qualities I loathe in my books.

1) Quirky heroine who wears gaudy Hot Topic outfits, paints converse, restores vintage cars, and skateboards and is also from a mega wealthy family but doesn't act like it because she's just so awesome that her family's wealth has affected her 0%. It's like the author was trying to slap Lucy with every cliche quirky girl quality possible but also let her have like a Rich People Life for some reason.
2) Lots of cringe-filled modern language that immediately tells me the author isn't actually in the know regarding how 20 year olds act and talk.
3) Instant soul-mate lust bond nonsense; like they're immediately all "I feel so deeply and intimately for you it's like I was made for you, I love you I want to be with you forever.

Also, this says for 16+ but this reads like an urban fantasy written for like 40 year old Kindle clutching moms more than an older teen or college demographic because the sentiments expressed by Lucy, who is 20, are very much akin to a much older woman. Like, at 25 I don't find her relatable so I doubt a 16-20 year old reader would. So I'm sort of confused as to what demographic this was really for.

The story, overall, just wasn't great for me. I thought the idea might be fun but it unfolds very fast and was made almost uncomfortable for me to read because the dialogue was cringey and made me wince every time these 20 and 21 year old girls started spewing random slang like it's at all how people actually talk. It feels like the attempt of someone much older trying to seem like they understand young adults and that's just... my antithesis. Bleh.

The ending has me mildly curious as to where the direction of the rest of the series will go but also I'm just like... I don't have it in me to read another bad book.

I wouldn't recommend it, personally. There are definitely way better werewolf series out there.

I will be the first to admit I wanted this book due to the gorgeous cover- yes, I am guilty of judging a book by it's cover, oh well. And when I saw that wolves may be involved, I knew I was going to read this. I went into the story with an open mind, not having any real expectations except to hopefully enjoy a book I know almost nothing about, and next thing I know, BAM it is 4 hours later, I did nothing with my day except power read the hell out of this book because I had to know more! To say I was sucked in may be understatement.

Can we just take a minute here to discuss the fact the main character was eating a lollipop while working out and skateboarding? I feel like that is a safety hazard and a no-go in general, it made me just roll my eyes. Ok tangent over.

Holy, Batman, I am so here for the werewolf love stories! Mating bonds, soulmates, instalove/lust- yes please, to all the above. I am such a sucker for werewolf love stories and this one does not disappoint in that respect. Tortured, broody love interest with a terrible past? Check. And this was steamy in the most happy of ways, just in case you were wondering.

In case you can't tell over my senseless rambling, I might be a tad obsessed with this book. If you like flirty banter, mysterious hot giant strangers, all things werewolves, and paranormal romance, this will be a winner for you. I feel like the world building is just getting started with all the hints and loose ends and I am so excited to discover more. The ending was a huge shock and cliffhanger so I am gonna need the next one as soon as my grabby hands can reach it. I legit have no idea what will happen next and I am a ball of anxiety over it. I am so happy that the series is already out so I can binge to my heart's content. Sorry, don't bother me, I am hunting down some more steamy, angsty, mysterious werewolf love. Be back soon!

This was really great! Loved it! Interesting characters, cool premise, awesome romance! Main character Lucy lives a charmed life in Alaska; lives in a mansion with her mom and her adopted sister, wants for nothing, and just started dating one of the hot German twins, Axel, so life is going pretty dang good for Lucy. Despite the charmed life, Lucy still manages to be down to earth and relatable; love her quirky style and attitude! Things get interesting for Lucy when she finds herself in a bit of a dangerous situation; there appears to be a werewolf on the loose! People aren’t exactly taking Lucy’s claims seriously, so Lucy sets out to prove she’s not seeing things; she finds out some rather surprising things along the way. Plus, there’s a hot, gruff, wonderfully delicious new neighbor, Will, that Lucy insists on befriending. Love that the characters are in their early 20’s instead of teens! This story does have some steam! Love the passion going on! Excellent chemistry; love the deep connection! There’s a pinch of a love triangle going on; not my favorite aspect of the story, certain things should’ve happened before Lucy did other things. Also, what is up with kissing “friends” on the lips when you have a significant other; it would take me out of the story every time it was mentioned, not cool. Other than those two things, I loved everything else! Lucy probably should’ve caught on a lot quicker to what in the heck was going on with certain situations and people; she wasn’t exactly a deep thinker, but it was still fun having the mystery unfold. This book ends with a cliffhanger and there’s more questions than answers in this book, so you’ll want to continue on with the series for the full story. I’m excited for it! I enjoyed the writing style and flow to the story too! Overall, I found this awesome!

* I have received an ARC in exchange for an honest review

A great retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. Fun heroine and hero, and a unique world to top it all.

This novel was such a fun read. I love retelling of fairy tales and this one was done super nicely. The heroine and characters were great in this novel. I liked how wolves were super hot in this novel, but not unrealistic people. But first on to Lucy. Lucy is a great heroine. She is spunky and snarky. I also like how she is super mature. She acts like an adult her age. She doesn't whine and takes the new information she learns with a level head.

The heroes in this novel is so sweet. They are great book boyfriends. I sometimes wanted Alex and Axel to be real life people. Life would be so much better with them. And, they way they care for Lucy is amazing.

The romance in this novel is plain amazing. I liked how there was a bit of angst in it, but no OTT drama. There was sizzling chemistry and great sex scenes, but underneath it all there was real emotion.

The world building is really good. Such a unique take on wolves. I liked how the males weren't rude obnoxious alphas. They were genuinely nice people. We need more genuinely nice alpha males in fiction. And, as a side note the fact that this novel is set in Alaska makes me love it even more. The representation of the city of Fairbanks is completely accurate. The author has definitely done her research.

All in all, great first novel to a great series. Except, that cliffy is killing me. I can't wait for the second novel.

This was an intense, amusing, and exciting ride that leaves you ready for the next book!

This was my first book by SW and I've heard that she enjoys having a good amount of steam in her books, and she did not disappoint!

The characters are all gorgeous in their own way and they have unique personalities. Friendships feel genuine and the relationship between side characters also feels real.

This is definitely contemporary with younger 20s for most of the main characters, so they have a nice amount of independence. There was a weird balance of Lucy being über wealthy and a huge punk. It felt over explained in the beginning, but, then I found that SW's writing is simply descriptive - she paints a vivid picture for you, which took me a minute to realize, and then I found that I liked her attention to detail.

There are side stories happening that seem to have a large effect on where this book ends (no spoilers) and the connections will be really fascinating to fully understand!

My big qualm is potentially spoiler-y, so I'll leave some space before sharing it for those who want to be aware of what could possibly be triggering...

There's definite infidelity that kind of works out not horribly, letting that character basically off the hook at that time. It is done in an interesting way with the bond that is formed, but you still just want the character to make things right.

Enjoyable , gave me red riding hood vibes

I enjoyed this book. At the beginning I thought it was going to be a red riding hood type retelling, which I wasn't looking forward to, because honestly I hate fairytale retellings.
It ended up having those vibes, but watered down. Lucy wears a Red Hoodie, all the time..every time she goes out she has the hoodie on, until she eventually loses the hoodie in the woods and she also realizes it attracts the wrong sort of attention.
The story takes place in Alaska. And at the beginning of the book she is dating a neighbor who moved from Germany. Her and her sister are dating twins and all is fine till a new neighbor moves into the "blue cabin" next door to her house.
At first he wanted nothing to do with anyone, but with sweets and determination Lucy wears him down. They kiss and then its just off to the races, so to speak. Things amp up quickly. There is a sense of fated mates from the first time they kiss. I'm getting tired of the whole fated mates thing, but that's just me reading too many stories with that premise.
The book ends on a bit of a cliffy, but that's to be expected in a series. Someone who is there at the end I was expecting from a few of the clues given in the story . I just had a feeling they were part of more than they we're letting on to.
I enjoyed this book. enough to continue reading the rest of the series for sure.

Beast of shadow and light
May have spoiler below 👇

First off this was sat in my tbr list for such a long time and I finally gave it and decided to give it a read.
Lucy and Ellie are sisters and best friends who are both dating twin brothers, Alec and Axel but there is something strange about them a secret that’s been hidden from everyone.
The fairytale of a wild deadly beast that lives in the woods between their homes has been told since they were children but what if it was all true?
Lucy is drawn to the woods and meets this feral beast which turns out to be none other than a werewolf.
A new grumpy neighbour moves in and Lucy feels an instant connection with him even though he rebuffs all her advances of friendship.
The plot is what draw me in but unfortunately wasn’t executed well.
The romance was so rushed one second they hate each other the next they are falling in love. I got whip lash from the sudden change of nature in the relationships.
The romance was also written like a teenage girl crushing and experiencing her very first kiss.
I guess it works for younger reads that are old enough for a slight bit of spice but wasn’t for me I’m afraid.

Honestly this book gave me hives. I couldn't handle the cringe this book caused me. Our protagonist is the typical "unique and different", the typical "I'm not like other girls", because of course Lucy dresses in leggings, sweatshirts, plaid shirts, converse, drives skateboards, knows about old cars and knows how to fix them, doesn't wear makeup, doesn't like to wear heels or wear dresses. Think of a cliché of a female protagonist that makes her "different" from the others and Lucy probably has it, because she is a walking cliché.

On the other hand, what about the writing? It read like a book by a 14 year old girl who is just starting to write on Wattpad. The characters are supposed to be in college and in their twenties, but they act like 15 year olds and talk like 15 year olds. The dialogue was cringe-inducing and I cringed every time they spoke. This is supposed to be fantasy, but it wasn't fantasy at all. Imagine Sarah J. Maas had a child with a Wattpad book and the result was this book. Too bad, because the cover is gorgeous. Sadly this wasn't for me, sorry.

This is the first book in a brand-new series.

This book is a new take on the classic fairy tale, Little Red Riding Hood. I really enjoyed how fresh and new the werewolves seemed in this story.

It was hard to put this book once I started reading. I was invested in this story from page. I loved the writing style and flow that Ms. Wallace seems to perfect. Her writings are always engaging and keep my interest throughout the book without getting bogged down by too many details or new plot twists. Ms. Wallace’s books are always page turners.

This book was intriguing and full of mystery, suspense and humor!

Lucy is such a strong-willed character and I loved her feisty and sassy personality. Will is obviously an alpha male, you could feel him smoldering throughout the book. I love these two together and their chemistry is undeniable.

This book does end on a massive cliffhanger, and I am not so patiently waiting for the next installment!

This book was... something else. I had much higher hopes after reading the description and seeing positive reviews. And it started well, it statted really well for me.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS- but not drastic.

I especially liked the dynamic between Will and Lucy at first- loved the scene on the porch. But then it all went south for me. I don't know if it's up to me but their relationship went up like explosion. The author could have maybe made the book longer so the romance was more believable. Again, that's my case.

But other then thst I loved the plot. I really liked Lucy and sweet-toothed Will holds a special spot in my heart. As well as Gustav- that kid is just too adorable. Axel was stinky to me from the beginning because no one could be that perfect. I also lacked the warmth between Lucy and her mother, but grandma is the G.O.A.T.

Overall, the book is a nice read but it could have been better.

Hoping that the next book will prove even better.

✒️I was given an ARC of this book in an exchange for an honest review 💭 but all thoughts and opinions are mine.
✒ First of all, needs a new cover. Too much information and unconnected elements
✒ Nice story there. Young, fresh classic werewolf kinda story with a lycan twist.
✒ Really funny. I was laughing 😂 on my own if I may add.
✒Nice touch with the legend in the beginning of the book.
✒Tom boy and skateboarder? Haha nice one. Didn't bother me at all. Weird and funny story.
✒Hot twins. Hot lycan
✒ Holly husky puppies?😁😂😂😂
✒In the beginning was really funny at the end bacame gloomy as f*** we don't know who to be worried about the guy? The girl?
✒I really enjoyed it. It flew. Was well written and worked upon. I can suggest it
✒You might wanna be a little old thought
Not too young not too shocked 😁
✒I recommend. The teens will enjoy it.

I was excited going into this story blind and really enjoyed my stay!

I love Lucy as a main character, she is snarky but knows what means the most to her, I loved reading all of her inner monologues. Plus her style is no different and finally seeing someone like this was really refreshing.
Ellie is a great sibling and just adds so much to Lucy as a character but also the story.

I do feel like there is a lot more to know, the information was a little slow but I know we will get those answers in the next books.

I loved the setting in Alaska that made me so happy cause beautiful, I'm also a sucker for beautiful German men so always a win for me.

The guys were a great addition to the story and I really like Axel as a character.

I liked the twist at the end as well, excited to see what happens next.

Great ending!

I loved the cliffhanger, because what?!? I really thought Axel was going to do something different. Never did I think that was what was happening.
Over the book good. The first 50-60% was a bit slow and the suddenly everything happened at once. Some parts dragged on with unnecessary bits, some parts hurried past what seemed to be a main part. A lot of unneeded bragging about how rich they were even though it was said they didn't flaunt it...
The story was intriguing! I loved the characters. Even the side characters were adorable. The ending left in a way that there is so many questions that need to be answered! Is Gammy and Mom in on it? What's with the feelings towards certain people? Mom and George? Just so many! I cannot wait to give book 2 a read!

A story that propels you thru the stages of a young woman's curious encounters with the supernatural, leaving you to question where sweet Lucy will end up in the scheme of things. The story challenges the reader to understand where everything will settle and just when you think that you have it all figured out…well, you don't. It was very different from most stories I have read of this genre, but I loved where it took me, and I most certainly loved where it dropped me off. It left me bereft of normal logic and caused me to gasp when all was said and done. All that stated, I am wanton to push into the next book in the series.

This book was very hot. I didn't expect it to be so steamy but I loved every minute of it! On one hand, two gorgeous brothers are interested in Lucy and her sister and vice versa. On the other hand, Lucy ends up forming more of a connection to a mysterious guy that just moved to town and no matter how much he pushes her away, she is determined to be his friend. Add to this some wolves behaving oddly and a werewolf that's harming people. This all leads to a combination that's definitely intriguing amid kept me turning pages. Be warned, the book ends in a cliffhanger. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. Can't wait to find out what happens and my many questions to be answered.

If you love Werewolves, this is the book for you!

Lucy Adler lives in Fairbanks Alaska and all of the sudden strange killings began. Lucy is determined to prove that the Beast exist. And Will, a mysterious sexy stranger shows up who keeps distracting Lucy. I absolutely love this book. Lucy is not only a kick-ass heroine but she's funny, and has the sass to match her personality and style! There's great chemistry between Will and Lucy is hot!

This book kept me enthralled from the very first page! Great chemistry, mystery, drama and humor! A definite must read!

Stephany Wallace new series, The Curse of the Lycan is amazing. Book one, “Beast of Shadow & Light” was excellent. I really enjoyed a sort of new twist of red riding hood and the images of a lycan in my mind. Lucy, with amazing luck, survives an encounter with the legendary monster of the woods. It draws her interest as well as the readers. Lucy also meets stranger Will. Their chemistry is off the charts but he plays hard to get really well. Too bad for him that Lucy doesn’t give up. I really enjoyed the dynamic with these characters. The supporting characters added to the mystery and storyline. The HOT German twins, Alec, and Axel were created really well by the author and definitely added some intrigue to the story. This book definitely ends in a cliff hanger but one that fits well with the story. I’m looking forward to the next book. Thank goodness it is out next month.
