Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.
Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.
Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.
The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.
The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.
Can we talk about that ridiculous toxic bullshit of Peter getting mad at Taranee for not wanting to date Nigel anymore? As if a man doing something nice for a woman means you are morally obligated to be lovers with them for the rest of your life.
Everything else was great though, as usual. This book picks up the pace as the guardians seek out the elements to unlock the books. Each girl gets their time to shine and they have to fend off some interesting enemies and puzzles.
This was really fun but there were just a few things that were not great (like the Pete & Nigel situation and none of that being challenged or being brought up again) and I feel like the pacing was off. I really did enjoy this though and reading these comics is always nostalgic but I love the girls and I love their story and its always surprising how these comics deal with some mature topics.
I really don't know how much longer I will keep going in this series. As nostalgic as it is, I get so frustrated with the girls, who seem to never really learn from their past mistakes.
The girls have begun their hunt for the elemental beasts guarding the keys to the ancient book that is currently holding Matt hostage - but it will take more than their powers, and more willpower than ever, to get out of these encounters alive! Gnone brings one of the best entries yet in this exciting arc that will keep fans glued to every panel. Can Will and her friends figure out how to beat the elements before they end up lost to their hypnotic powers?
I’m currently up to/reading this volume and it’s just really interesting to see Cedric go through actual emotions. I never thought he had none I just thought he was selfish and manipulative but seeing him with Orube and kind of wanting her trust is very interesting. Not sure if he’s going to like fall in love with her because I’m not sure if he’s capable of that strong of an emotion but the fact “human emotions” are beginning to influence him is strange to witness as a reader. I’m intrigued to see as far as he’ll let himself be taken by them.
I’m really enjoying this volume and part V as a whole arc! It’s a little rushed and a tad easy for the girls to be able to find all the stones so it makes me wonder if (because there’s a whole other volume for this part, when usually it’s 3 parts) the next and last volume will be dedicated to like an epic super boss battle. I sure hope so. I’ve heard rumours about Cedric redeeming himself, which is again, interesting.
P.S. only thing I will fault about this volume was Peter getting upset with Taranee for not liking Nigel anymore. That came out so left field. I remember in the last volume reading about how chill Peter usually is and now he’s saying to his sister that she owes Nigel because he’s sacrificed some people who let’s face it we’re bad for him for her! No honey Nigel should have done that for himself and Taranee is allowed to move on. Weird toxic craziness that’s not needed. I hope Peter gets a wake up call!
ENG I don't know if it's because I was recovering from my bad flu, or if it's just me; but I liked these volumes a little less. I put 4* because I always like our heroines and the secondary characters. But that part of the story appealed to me a little less. On the other hand, I still love Orube as much, it's always a pleasure to meet her. I will read the rest very quickly; and then I will have to wait for the publication of the other volumes haha.
The first chapter takes place on the island of memories, the island where the poet Lowitt would have lived, the same one who wrote the first riddle of the book of elements. Each enigma gives the place where the guardian is hiding and thus the elementary stone allowing to open this cursed book. The underwater drawings are magical, this change of scenery is not to displease me.
So YES, this arc is my favorite of all but no, it is not the third and last volume of part 5. I realized this during the last chapter, I clearly did not see the plot ending like this. When I saw the classic "to be continued", I quickly ordered the 16th book..
I like how fast this book moved, and how they solved each problem - even if there was some deu ex machina involved. Interested in seeing what happens next.
Also, is this next to last arc? Almost seem like it, with how few books are left of this series!
Fast paced and focused more on the plot than on the girls' personal lives. I really love the direction this is going in and I can't wait to read the next one!
Another decent entry into this series. I've still got some ick on these girls' dating lives but as it's not 100% clear how old they are, I'm just going to pretend they're like... 16.
