On the run from the Iniquitous, Mara feels lost and helpless. Without Theo by her side she’s left bare and vulnerable, but she’s a fighter and, with blood boiling in her veins, she vows to avenge him.
The Iniquitous have already taken so much from her, and she refuses to sit back and let them take anything else. She trains harder, preparing herself physically and mentally to take them on. As her magic grows stronger, so does the voice speaking to her from beyond the grave.
She wants to believe it’s real, to give in to what feels right, but if she does, her mind might be lost forever.

Enchant left us on such a cliffhanger and Covet is treating us the same way. Now we just have to wait for Possess and I don’t think I can do it. We’ve lost so much along the way and I don’t think that I can wait for answers. I mean, I have questions that need immediate answers.
This picks up right where Enchant left us. Mara and her friends on the run from the Iniquitious. Some of the safe houses have been attacked, so Ethan takes them all to his friends house. It’s the safest place that he could think of.
Once they make it there, Mara wants to practice to get stronger and learn how to use her magic. She not only wants to defeat the Iniquitious but she’s out for revenge now. They took something precious from her and she won’t rest until she gets what she wants.
Covet was amazing. Mara is such a badass character that I didn’t think that this book was long enough to capture how truly strong and brave she is. I absolutely love this series and I’m ready to see how it ends. Words really can’t express my love for this series.
Also, let’s not forget swoony Theo!!
Micalea is such an amazing writer and anything she releases is known to be epic. This is an author that you need to keep on your radar.
I absolutely love this book! I have waited a long time for this book to come out and I was not disappointed. I think I have read every book by Micalea Smeltzer and I love every single one. If you haven't not read the Enchanted Series yet. I would definitely recommend you buy this series. You will not be disappointed!
I was so, so excited when I saw that the author had surprise released this book! I had been waiting for it to release since reading an ARC of the first book and there was a big cliff-hanger ending lol! I knew that the author had been going through a lot though, so I patiently waited for this book to release! I grabbed a copy as soon as it did and made it my next read! After reading, I can say that this book was written brilliantly and continued on the characters story perfectly! I was hooked from the first chapter and this book only took me a few sittings to read because I didn't want to put it down! There was also a bit of action in this book, but I can definitely see more happening in the next book! There was also a bit of romance, but not as much as there was in the first book! The ending of this book was also left at quite a cliff-hanger and will lead into the final book perfectly! The characters were again amazing and made this book even better! Mara was again the main character, and she went through a lot in the first book and then went through a lot in this book! I did feel sorry for her, but she also grew a lot in this book and became a stronger character that knew what she had to do! I connected with Mara all the way through this book as well and I loved her as a main character! It's hard for me to talk about the secondary characters in this book! Well, one character in particular because of what happened at the end of first book! I really don't want to say anything about this particular character because it would be a huge spoiler, so I'm going to talk about Adelaide, Ethan, Winston and Jee who were secondary characters in this book! I loved all four of these characters and they all added something to the plot! I felt like I got to know more about them in this book too and loved the introduction of Jee's character! This book was only written from Mara's point of view! I was sort of expecting this because the first book was only written from Mara's point of view too! I was disappointed that there weren't any chapters from Theo's point of views or even some secondary characters point of views, but it did add to the mystery aspect as the reader found out things at the same time as the main character did! I can also completely understand why this book was only written from Mara's point of view! There's still the chance of the next book to have a few different point of views in it as well! I now can't wait to read the next book in this series! I'm sad that it's going to be the final book, but I can't wait to see what's going to happen next for the characters and see how their journey is going to end! I'm not sure when the final book is going to release because I think that the author is releasing a contemporary book next, but I'll read anything by her, so I can't wait to read her next release! The cover for this book is also absolutely perfect for it! I loved it as soon as I saw it and it suits the feel of the book! It would definitely draw me to the book as well and the cover models on the front are again the perfect Mara and Theo!
Okay, so this one was better than Enchant in terms of description and development of the story. I personally loved reading about Mara's developing powers and the magic she performs, which are described well and I was able to visualize what she and the other enchanters were doing while training. So cool, by the way!
The problem from Book 1 persists in Book 2 as well — the time jumps. From a month to six months and then jumping to a year, it was very quick. I am a reader who likes to "see" the time jump happening and love to see the shift in the characters and the environment they are in and while it lacked in "seeing" the time jump, I appreciated the shifts that were happening, especially with Mara since she is at the crux of the war that is waiting at the horizon.
With that saying... Um, hello. Yes, the cliffhanger. I mean... WHAT? WHO? WHEN? WHY? HOW FREAKING LONG HAS IT BEEN?!?!?!?! I want answers! Definitely, need Book 3 in hands as soon as possible.
I don't know why but I'm having a hard time getting into this series. The first book wasn't my favorite, and this one took me a good month to pick up and read. I love the characters, but there's something about the story that seems to drag a little. With that cliffhanger though, I'm looking forward to the last book. I hope it's a bit longer this time.
P.S. even though I couldn't get into this book I'd still recommend it to those would like magic suspenseful book. I think my problem is that I'd rather have werewolves and vampires than magic lol.
I didn't want to put this down. Thank goodness for snow days/no school. I couldn't be lazy all day and let me kids irritate one another.
As always the world building was captivating and detailed. Even though my poor little heart was breaking for Mara and Ade. I pushed through it. I really liked the new character Jee, I feel like he really kept things rolling and I could totally relate to him.
Now for the cliffhanger. I wasn't prepared for that one. Now I must know who this "his" is! I so hope it isn't a long wait. I am hooked on this series.
Enchant left me begging for Covet, and now I find myself pleading for Possess. This cliffhangers are going to be the death of me. I need to know the who and the what and the why. I need it now!!
So, I’ll take a Theo please. Sarcastic and funny and strong. I really liked how he was able to communicate with Mara. Can’t wait to see what happens next!
Oh my if you loved enchanted this is everything! There is so much action and it leaves you needing so much more another homerun she hit this sequel out of the park!!!
