Author's Note: this story is currently running on my "Patreon", and will be published as an ebook next year once it's complete
Leland has always lived a life apart, never willing to get too close to anyone for fear of what might happen should the wrong people learn just how powerful he really is. Then his own reputation led to a friend paying the price, and he'll do anything to get her back.
Even if it means breaking all his rules to align himself with exactly the kind of troublemakers he'd always avoided as strenuously as he's avoided the G.O.D. Even if it means sharing space with Byron Valentine, the beautiful, mysterious leader of the group fighting to destroy the G.O.D., a man who makes Leland wish he could have the normal life his own abilities have always denied him.
Megan is a long time resident of queer romance and keeps herself busy reading and writing it. She is often accused of fluff and nonsense. When she’s not involved in writing, she likes to cook, harass her wife and cats, or watch movies. She loves to hear from readers and can be found all over the internet.
Felt shorter than the others and more focused on the next mission and set up for the next pairing, rather than the main pairing. I liked how all the characters appeared and their roles. I’m looking forward to the next one.
Every time I finish a book in this series, I tend to say it was not very good. And it wasn't, not really. Yet I keep coming back. And I will do it again.
I liked this one well enough. I still remember the first iteration of this story. Back then, what currently became the Anti-Heroes series started with Leland and Byron story. Very different back then with many of the details tweaks and changes. With a bittersweet ending as well.
This iteration, retain some of the core elements from the first version, while added, changed, and tweaked to fit with this new, broader narrative.
Leland now have to fight not just with himself but a real nemesis. The culprit whose action lead him to became Minder. I am glad to say that that part was resolved within this book. So you can read it without worry.
Byron had the most changed, but you will know that if you read the previous book.
First thing first... NOW I AM REALLY CURIOUS ABOUT SCONES AND OBERON!!! I wish the next book is here already!!!
Anyway, I liked this third installment better than previous two. Maybe because I have become more familiar with the universe and the set-up. It's also a good follow-up with Byron and Leland already introduced to us, readers, in the previous novella.
What I didn't like was the anti-climactic death of Sunrise and Prince. For such an important characters that said to be the nemesis of most anti-heroes out there, their demise was short and well, not as painful as I wanted it for them.
Enjoyable addition to the series. This one had a different feel than the other two. I enjoyed both MC's. Leland's story broke my heart and the fact that he couldn't ever let go was hard. Byron had made the best of his situation and I loved that he still o this day takes care of people. Its just in his nature
I really like both main characters and their dynamic. The problem is that it was so wholesome and they were so emotionally mature that there was nothing stopping them from getting together after a dozen or so pages, so instead of focusing on the romance the story was focused on the action. A pity, because as I've said, I really liked them and wish we saw more of them
