*** A Steamy Regency Romance *** Olivia Caldwell always believed the man to be insufferable. Unfortunately, he was her brother’s best friend, therefore unavoidable. And while Lord Bradford might be opinionated, domineering, and a notorious rake. He was also the only man in England who was able to rescue her from kidnappers. A fact that was going to lead to her worse nightmare. A marriage of convenience to the one man who she could not control. Lord Bradford knew the woman was demanding, opinionated, and a thorn in his side since she was a little girl. Now, beautiful, charming, and with a tongue sharper than a Sheffield blade, she was a man’s worse nightmare. A woman who could capture his heart. But, society's rules demanded he wed this hellion. His only hope, have her surrender to him. If he failed, he would surely surrender his heart to her, and that way lay madness.
Another short but sweet novel about opposites attracting. The h was kidnapped and The hero found her and brought her home. She was compromised so he volunteered to marry her. They always had bickered since they were children but everyone knew they belonged together. I won't say anymore but it was a fast quick easy read and I really enjoyed it. I will be looking for more by this author.
Like the other book I read in this series, it really needed a proofreader. There were so many grammatical mistakes and missing or wrong words that it was distracting, almost difficult to read. However, the story itself was very interesting.
I like the story line but what I didn't like was the fact she didn't know she was attracted to the guy. How is that even possible, I know that it is supposed to be in a time when women were sheltered, but one part says she asks a maid about sex and they didn't talk about attraction.
The editing on this book must have been very cursory. There were many sentence fragments and misused words, as well as inconsistent tenses. Not a bad plot, but the egregious mistakes kept pulling me out of the story. Keep trying, though.
First book I've read by Snodgrass and was rather impressed. Engaging writing style with a great blend of wit, misunderstanding, caper, romance and intrigue. An absorbing plot that not only has a host of developed subcharacters but a charming, loveable rogue for a hero and an intelligent, head strong heroine that spark well off each other. Even despite guessing who ordered the kidnapping from the start I was fully enchanted by the story and would definately be seeking more from this author.
This was okay. To be honest the best part for me was the set up for the next story between Amanda and Lord Warwick. I already purchased it.
Olivia and James's approach to their relationship drove me crazy. Honestly their need for control over the relationship really made me uncomfortable. I was beginning to worry about how healthy a relationship it could even be. On the other hand without that lack of communication, if they had just been honest, it would have been a really short book.
But it was solidly written and I liked Olivia's spirit.
Great story but spoiled by a lack of proofreading.
I really enjoyed the story of Bradford and Olivia, the best in the series so far in my opinion. I just got so very frustrated by the amount of typos and grammatical errors, especially towards the end of the book. Almost as if the author was rushing to meet a deadline and didn't have time to check everything. I still loved the story though so four stars.
I get that she was trying to be a stand out feminine character in a time when women had so little, but you didn't need to make her such a b!+@#. Other than that, I liked how this book turned out. He was protective, and both fell for each other at the same time. I also like how they both realized that it was the same moment long before they both admit it.
What could gave been a boring rehashing of a common plot turned out to be an exciting adventure about two people who were in love all along but didn't know it. A long sentence to describe a very good read for the readers of historical fiction. Enjoy my friends.
It has come about that Bradford's best friend has entrusted him with the care of his sister, Olivia. But then she is kidnapped, and Bradford must find her. Will he also find that she has kidnapped his heart?
Well, modern sex scenes wrapped up in ‘historical’ setting, the usual denial of feelings for each other, lots of clichés all the way. Needs some spell checks as others have mentioned but overall it’s not without charm.
The lack of communication that these two had after marrying was frustrating. The would be up front and brutally honest before but then claim up after. Had a hard time with this book.
I'm not sure if there was a formatting error or what, but there were way too many grammatical and stylistic errors. At one point the hero calls out his own name in the throes of passion. Not a terrible story, but would have been much better without the distracting phrasing errors.
Olivia was looking for a husband she could love. James was definitely not someone she could love. When she is kidnapped and he rescued her, her reputation is in jeopardy. James offers for her. Can their marriage work? Another good book by the author. I enjoy her books.
A good story with much higher audiobook production quality compared to author's earlier works, wherein series is loosely linked by heroes being friends and can be read in any order.
Loved this book, the author's work is always excellent. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series, the story of Amanda and Lord Warwick! ☺
