Hi I'm Kristy and I live in the U.K. I have always written short stories and poetry. I went to university to study acting which I loved, but my real passion has always been writing. So, now I write the kind of stories I would have wanted to read as a teen. "Kiera's Quest- part one & two," a Middle-grade/ teen fantasy series, is now available on e-book and paperback. If you like shape shifters, magical realms and a chosen one, then this may be for you!
My YA contemporary romance book, "Just Sam," about a young tennis star who loses someone important and has to trust in life and love again, is available on Amazon in print & on Kindle, as is my YA/NA fairy-tale retelling, "Cinderfella." Cinderfella has all roles reversed and is aimed slightly older, as there is a little passion and darkness to this tale, but still keeps the magic of the original.
I also have a YA Paranormal Romance trilogy, 'The Summer Solstice series.' "Summer's End," book one, "Summer's Lost" (2) and "Summer's Time," are all available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited, as are all my titles.
My latest is a Modern day retelling of Romeo and Juliet with an 80's obsessed gymnast and a dyslexic rep, "The Brightest Stars."

I love reading of course. I have lots of new projects in mind, and I'm currently working on a New Adult Contemporary Romance...

#1 Summer's End - ★★★
#2 Summer's Lost - TBR

Summer’s End is a Young-Adult romance, with a fantasy twist – an interesting and unique book I didn’t expect to read.

First of all – let’s all take a minute to cherish the cover. It is so pink and shiny, and I admit it, it was the first thing that made me read this book. Gorgeous cover!!!

Summer wakes up in a hospital, but she doesn’t remember anything from her past. They tell her she was in a fire accident and barely survived. Before she is ready, she starts going to uni with her two best friends who are helping her remember the past. But when she gets near this one boy, she feels something she has felt before…

Dooney has been training his whole life to kill her when the time is right. She is dangerous and he knows this. He has been trying to locate her for a long time now. And when he finally knows where she is, she makes him feel other things than hatred.

A very quick-paced book with lots of dialogues and quick chapters. Summer’s End make me turn pages constantly, until I finally got to the end. It was very captivating.

The beginning was great, it lured me in instantly, getting me hooked to both character’s lives. However, I didn’t quite enjoy the romance between the two. It felt too fast, too pushed and over the top. This is because of all the repetitive scenes where Summer would faint when he is near and they would always feel each other’s presence. It just didn’t feel real to me.

Saying this though, the ending was amazing and the romance got a bit better at the very end.

Apart from a few plot holes and the romance, I did enjoy this book a lot. If you love YA, I do recommend that you check this book out!

Thank you to the author, Kristy Brown, for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

She awoke to the pain of severe burns. With no memory of her past and only strangers to tell her who she was, Summer can’t even tell who to trust. Why can’t she remember her past? Why can’t she remember the young woman she was or what she even likes?

He trained his entire life to end her existence. It was up to him to save the world from the destruction she is meant to unleash. Alex Doones is on a mission, a mission he never expected he would fail at. And yet, he kept saving her time and again, but why?

Kristy Brown has created a fresh new young adult fantasy tale with all of the intrigue, the mystery and the forbidden romance that transcends, then creates new conflicts! Her main characters are well-fleshed out with a little mystery behind each!

SUMMER’S END is a wonderful read that leaves just the right amount of what ifs at the end to have me thinking about the future of these characters and the worlds they live in!

Kristy Brown has written something completely different!

I received a free e-copy of this book by the author, in accordance with the terms of For Love of a Book's Advanced Reader Opportunity Program. I try to express only my most honest opinion in a spoiler free way. If you feel anything in my review is a spoiler and is not already hidden in spoiler brackets please let me know. Thank you.

Ok so at first this book was a little hard to get into. It starts out pretty slow and I had no idea what was going on. After I got about half way though it finally had my full attention and I was eager to find out what happened next.

I think Andie might be my favorite friend character ever. She's funny and so loyal to Summer. Even after all craziness is revealed she still sticks by her friend. I don't like Coral, and I'm still on the fence about Persia.

Now on to the main characters. Alex is hard to tell if I like him or not. His personality is just so compicated. However he does save a girl from something that some would say is worse than death even though he thinks she evil and he wants to kill her himself so there is that. As for Summer. Shes and ok character. Nothing about her really stood out. She had to be saved constantly and even expressed not wanting to survive if her true love doesn't. Now, I'm not saying I wouldn't want to die if lost my love, but I'd like to think I'd at least try.

Despite the confusion of the plot, I thought it was pretty good. I still have so many questions though after the end of the book. I wish more was explained. It wrapped up the memory loss and the love but it didn't really explain who Alex's people were. Where did the come from? Why did they think Summer was evil? Do they all think that? So many questions still.

The ending wasn't bad. It did end on a cliffhanger though so I'm still holding out hope for a happy ending and all. I am definitely going to shelf the sequel to be read as I have to know what happen's. All in all it was a really good book and I enjoyed it.

How I choose my rating:
1* Hated it. Had to force myself to finish it.
2** Didn't really like it. Didn't hate it but not sure why I finished it other then for some closure.
3*** I liked it. I had some issues with it, but as a whole it was good. I probably won't reread again ever, but there is a chance I might finish the series. (If part of one) But if not it's not a huge loss.
4**** I really liked this book. Maybe not a work of genius, but highly entertaining. I might reread this again, and I will finish the series. (If part of one) I would recommend to those I know hold interest in this books content.
5***** I loved this book. I found little to no issues with it at all. I will definitely be rereading this and probably more than once. I will finish the series and reread it multiple times. (If part of one) I will recommend this book to EVERYONE!!!!

Thanks for the rec TeaAndBooks

The end! Killer ending really! I need to read more like right now. Wow! It was so good.

So, I really enjoyed this one. It pulled me in from it's very synopsis. A forbidden love story? I'm always up for that!

It's written nicely with the proper mix of questions and mystery surrounding us. We discover little truths and lies one step at a time and it only raises more and more questions.

I admit I was a little tired of Summer in the beginning as she was too needy somehow. But the real her is so much better. So is Alex (I agree with Summer, Dooney is not the name I like!). One thing that bothered me and lessened my interest after 2/3rd of the book was the somewhat repeating storm of questions and I guess I needed to know more about how they actually fell for each other-the first time. But that all got fixed real quick as the end approached.

I loved the end. Just awesome and I want more.

This is an awesome YA paranormal romance! At the beginning, a teenage Summer wakes up in a hospital. She has no memories at all of her life prior to waking up. Also there is Alex (or Dooney) who has been trained his entire life to kill Summer to prevent her from burning the entire world to ashes.

This is the story of what unravels from this point forward, with some backstory flashbacks of a prior time. The adventure is intiguing to say the least. It kept me glued to the pages to find out what would happen. When I started it I didn't realize it is the beginning of a series. I greatly look forward to the next book. I like the characters, the plot was fascinating, and the romance interesting. Kristy Brown has written a winner!

Okay I have to say, the book definitely got really good once I was halfway through!

I love paranormal romance so I was eager to read this when the Author, Kristy Brown, sent me a copy and give her an honest review. I’m so glad I read this! I finished it in one day and it was a great read! THAT ENDING!!! Seriously, I need to know when the second book comes out cause I neeeeed to know what happens!

My only issue with the book was the beginning was a little bit of a drag for me... I couldn’t get myself hooked onto it until I was about 40% into the book. But after that, I was completely hooked. And the reason I am giving it a 4 stars is because of that little issue.

This is an awesome read if you like paranormal romance. Give it a read it is worth it! The story is definitely interesting and will have you wondering the entire time! So many twists and turns and that ending will just grab your heart!

Thank you Kristy for the free copy :) I can’t wait for the second book! Please hurry haha!

I would like to thank Kristy Brown for sending me a complementary digital copy of Summer's End in exchange for my honest review.

3.75 - Summer's End is a YA Fantasy that read to me as a Romeo and Juliet, opposite of the scale, enemies to lovers story.

I was invested immediately, the opening scene intense and heartbreaking. It conveyed so much pain (physical and emotional) with the horror, sorrow, pain and loss easy to empathize with. You see the story from Summer and Dooney's POVs. We have nothing else to go on, except what Summer's best friends, Persia and Coral, deigned to tell her. Dooney frequently breaks the 4th wall as he struggles with what he has been trained to do, his duty, his family and his growing desires. This creates continious contraditions and more questions than answers.

I loved Andie (Andrea) and her humor, friendship and determination. I enjoyed seeing her support Summer while she figured out who she is now and what happened before. I felt that the pacing, the contradictions and questions fit the story well. It parallels Summer's struggles; the missing memories, limited information and gradual strength/growth.

Things pick up in the final 1/3 as Summer finally gets her answers and motivations become clear. The tension, emotions and stakes at Summer's End concludes with a major cliffhanger. I need to know what happens next, lol, and I look forward to reading Summer's Lost, book 2 of the Summer Solstice Series.

Where to begin on this book..... I loved it! I got a chance to read some of it on Wattpad and was excited to see what was going to happen next and Kristy did not disappoint. She did an incredible job with these characters. I love Summer and Dooney because they are both strong characters that are fighting against what they are feeling.

Summer remembers nothing about the fire but she has her friends who help her out. She knows she was in a fire but has no idea why or who started it. That is until she sees Dooney tall, dark and mysterious. He brings back memories of a time she can't remember but she knows must have happened otherwise why would she be having those flashbacks.

As Summer comes closer to finding out the truth of who she is and who Dooney is she will have to make some very hard decisions and she is not sure she can make them. Will Summer chose the right thing or will she chose the wrong thing?

Book Review
*written in exchange for an honest review*
Summer’s End by Kristy Brown
A Summary: Summer wakes up with no recollection of her past life and a face burned beyond recognition. She goes to college with no knowledge of who she is or the prophecy that says she will bring the world to its end. Dooney’s job is to prevent Armageddon by killing Summer. Aided by his witchy sister Kit and their dubious leader Lennox. The prophecy states that he must kill her, but is the prophecy true? With the more Summer and Dooney learn, the less they trust their ‘friends’ and the closer they get to each other.
THE REVIEW: Summer’s End is a decent YA book, it’s not the best book, but I would recommend it for teens looking for a quick read. Summer’s End witches between Dooney’s POV and Summer’s POV, Dooney’s POV was often a rehashing of whatever the reader had already read in Summer’s POV, which makes for a repetitive chapter.
Chapter 2 was arduous and lead to the following notes: Dooney's POV and his dialogue to the reader about him being a bad person makes little sense as we know nothing about him. We assume it he was in the fire with Summer and started the fire, but the reader doesn't know that. One of his first words of dialogue is “You're judging me” but the reader isn't judging him because the reader doesn’t know him at this point we’re just inquisitive, it would be better to feed this curiosity instead of offering passive-aggressive dialogue. A good way to handle this exposition would have been, “I suppose you want to hear my story, why I ended up in this school full of morons. Well, I’ve got a job to do.” instead the reader gets, “My story? Not much to say, I guess. You’re judging me, everybody always does.”
This whole chapter exists to provide exposition for Dooney, but the wat it’s delivered makes for a monotonous chapter. Another minor gripe I have is the bad boy or grunge look that Dooney has going, at one point Dooney thinks, "I guess I don't fit" would it not be easier to make him fit by going for a more understated look since the world hinges on his ability to kill this girl? Would it not be better to make him more discreet? If he were more discreet, he couldn't be the bad boy, I guess. But it's not looks that are impactful it's actions, he doesn't have to fit the bad boy persona, all he needs to do is act the part, everything else is just unneeded. His bad-boy persona, however, is necessary to the plot and the Tyler subplot. However, there could have been tension without playing into the jock vs. bad boy cliché.
Overall the book is decent towards the climax the book becomes confusing. Large amounts of information are thrown at the reader before the book ends and it became confusing and at points, it was just downright unbelievable. All the info that is thrown at the reader was unnecessary. Certain things could have been left open so the reader could find out more in the sequel. I will check out the sequel and other books from the author.
Summer’s End
Grade: 60/100 C+ (I know this is an F in school but on the Lillith scale it’s a B-)
Thoughts: 6/10 A basic YA novel that most teenagers would enjoy

ARC provided by author through FLOAB in exchange for an honest review :))

wow! this definitely picked it! around 35% through the book i was this close to DNFing it and picking up something else, but then i starting reading the other reviews on this book, and they were all pretty good, so i kept reading. and it definitely got better!
before long we finally started getting less questions and more answers, less pathetic MC fainting over guys and more sweet romance. sure, the writing still wasn't as captivating as it could have been, and some lines really annoyed me (aka. when Alex/Rooney would make fun of nerds and theatre kids, also what kind of name is Rooney!) but overall it was a pretty entertaining and fun book.
the romance was actually pretty cute, and i liked the fantasy/magical side of the story, plus i really loved the side characters! Andie was hilarious (plus asexual and we love that) and Persia was a sweetheart, i wish we got more of them. also the ending was hardcore.....

overall a pretty good book, entertaining enough after the first third or sure and some cute romance, even though it was kinda insta-lovey! thank you so much for the ARC, Kristy Brown and FLOAB!

Summer’s End is the first book I read by Kristy Brown. The story starts with Summer waking up screaming, her whole body is burned and the agony and pain are felt down to her bones. She doesn’t know what happened, she doesn’t know how she got to where she is all she knows is that she wants to die.

As the story starts to unravel, we are then introduced to Summer friends. While Summer has no recollection of what happened to her just days ago, her friends do not leave her sight. Persia & Coral are inseparable friends who are always by Summer’s side. They are always with her, ready to protect her at all cost.

As the story continues to move forward we slowly learn more about Summer’s situation. She lost her memory or at least she believes that’s so due to the accident, slowly her friends try to fill in the blanks without giving much away and without exactly doing much effort to help her remember. They inadvertently deny her the possibility of going over the accident and how it came to be. She believes she lost more than herself in that fire, her parents, and so much more, she just doesn’t know what.

The author does a good job creating a certain level of mystery & uncertainty around Summer’s accident. What starts slowly soon develop into a conspiracy of friends trying to save her from the foe that stalks her, from the enemy that is much too close to Summer. We slowly learn what Summer’s destiny should be and what her purpose is, how her life has been already pre-planned for her. However, as Summer starts to understand and question all that’s happening to her, she can’t deny there is something that has been hidden from her, a truth that could make all the difference in her life.

I enjoyed the story, while at times it was very slow, other times it picked up speed and we are given an interesting and at times twisted affair of power, high emotions and young love. The author did a good job of creating an intricate and complex relationship between these characters were emotions were high and actions had dire consequences. What slowly starts as a reaction between Summer & Alex, soon develops into a strong and complex attraction that has a strong backstory of love and destruction.

This story has a good mix of love, romance, forgiveness, betrayal & power hungry villains. The characters while are not necessarily extremely complex on their own, they bring a needed balance to the story by giving us glimpses into their emotions, wants and needs.
Summer’s End is a good start to the series, I am curious about what the author has in the works for these characters and for Summer once Alex starts his search for her.

Imagine waking up, not knowing who you are and why you have a drip coming out of your arm. Total blind panic! How anxious would that make you feel? Summer is literally a blank page, her only knowledge of her past from her two friends Coral and Persia.

New friend Andie is a stabilising influence on Summer. She says to Summer:

The person in front of me now is the girl I choose to be mates with. Who you are today is more important than who you may have been yesterday.

High five to Andie 🙂 although she may be very wrong …

Dooney knows his purpose having trained for only one thing. To kill Summer. It’s easy to be focussed when you’ve depersonalised your target … His doubts starts to surface when he realises that once his purpose is over, he can be whoever he wants to be and do whatever he wants to do. BUT. Taking that purpose away will leave his life empty. What will he be then?

I love a story with a deadline and with two weeks until the full moon there’s a lot of re-awakening that needs to happen for all of our characters. There are moments of tension. And confusion. Just when you think it’s going ok, another crisis looms making you sit on the edge of your seat and wanting to control what happens next! There is more than one twist that kept me guessing too.

I’ve enjoyed the romance as much as the fantasy and magic. I’ve been pulled in and given the feels alongside the characters (whether that’s a high or a low). I thought this story was a fresh look on the theme of forbidden love. The YA targeted audience are in for a treat 🙂

Summer’s End was a page turner for me. The conflict between good and evil is compelling. Both our bad boy hero and our lost heroine (who has the most awesome power) are on an internal as well as external quest. There’s magic and connections on a soul level. Betrayals. And twists. Ending with a nail biting cliffhanger. Perfect.

This is a book for young adults to not only fall in love with this story but with reading as well. It is everything in it to keep them eager to see what is going to happen next. When Summer wakens up in a hospital, after having had a number of operations to repair her badly burnt body and face, she has no memory of who she is or what has happened. With one operation still to go she decides to keep the last remaining scar as a start point to finding out anything about herself.
This is a beautifully crafted story, with intrigue and mystery, a mission and forbidden love. Within the first few pages of reading about Summer I just wanted to protect her from everyone. She has a couple of friends, that fill her in on her past but she feels that there is still so much more missing. When she sees Dooney, all the girls seem to drool over him but he has no interest in them, he only has eyes for Summer. The thing is his eyes are at times cold and frightening but still make her heart skip a beat. She begins to have very strange flash backs, Summer needs to find out how their paths have crossed before.
I really loved this story that when I thought I had sussed it out it shot off down a new avenue. It made it really difficult to put down to do anything else. The mystery definitely got me in the first few chapters, then the need to know more, especially about the very dishy Dooney. I really do like a book that can throw me off track with characters that I thought I knew. I was in for quite a few shocks, especially with one of the characters. Kristy Brown has smashed this genre. What a super story line with a tremendous build to an climatic ending!
I wish to thank the author for an e-copy of this book which I have reviewed honestly

Paranormal romance was never a genre that I was interested in, but when I read the summary to summer's end I was intrigued. I really liked the book I thought the plot was well thought out, but there were something that prevented me from giving this four stars. First of all, I thought the transitions going from scene to scene were kind of abrupt and I would find myself having to go back reread a couple paragraphs. Second I thought that the pre-existing conflicts between two characters were just there to be there, I didn't see much use of them. Overall I really liked this one, I would recommend it to people who are into the paranormal thing. Happy Reading!

Classic!
I loved this. At first it seemed pretty predictable but then there were some lovely twists thrown in.
Summer seemed really fragile, annoying and kind of had blinkers on, but then as the story uncovered I really started understanding her. I didn't see the Coral coming, like not even a tiny hint. So I really liked that surprise.I really need to read the next book like I am ready for surprises!
Overall this was a great, despite some parts being repetitive. It drew me in from the beginning, the intrigue, lies and mystery are enough to make you ask for more!

I really enjoyed this one, and that ending has me needing to read the next book. Summer's story was intriguing. I wanted to figure out what happened to her before the fire, and I was definitely not expecting what was revealed. I warmed up to Alex once I realized what caused him to be the way he is. I loved Summer's friends, and I really hope we see more of them in the next book, but things could go either way with that ending. I can't wait to find out.

*POSSIBLE SPOILERS *

This was definitely a ride. It took me a hot minute to get into it. Half way into the book it started to get good.
The romance was interesting-though I would love to see more background into the lovers and the beginning of how all this came to be. (Hopefully in the next book(s) in the series.

I gave it four stars because there were some things just felt contradictory or just made no sense. Joint it’s explained better in the next book(s).

It wasn't really my type of read.
It wasn't bad. I mean, I did read it in one sitting until 3 in the morning (and my parents are wondering why I have slept in so late).
😉

Okay first of all:
The ENDING..... if it wasn't for that last page from Alex's POV I was thinking of giving it 3 stars, but boy, Kritsy made my day!

The story was addicting, I was really impressed and really disappointed at some points but that happens in most books.

The evolution of the story was good. However, when all the stuff WS revealing about their pasts and their lives, it was a lot to take in.

The characters were... 🤔... unique.

Look, the main thing is I did not regret reading this book, neither would you!

Also, the book has a killer ending.
No, it has a sick ending. 😉

*Thank you to Kristy Brown for sending me a copy of Summer's End in exchange for an honest review!*

Rating: PG-15 Some scenes may be too intense for younger teens.

Sensitivity Warning: Attempted rape/date rape

This one is going on my list of best surprises for the year! I absolutely love when I start reading a book feeling like I don’t really know what to expect, and end up really enjoying the book.

Summer’s End is the first book in a trilogy, so there is A LOT of story set up in it. The great thing though, it isn’t a slow build. The pacing is on point, and the way it is laid out is done (extremely well) in such a way that we get the background information we need without slowing down the story. I really didn’t realize it was part of a trilogy until I finished the book on a cliff hanger and was left dying to know what happens next.

The story is told from the perspective of both Summer and Alex, which mostly, I enjoyed. There were a couple of times it seemed mildly redundant, but the majority of the time, it was a nice change to see the scene from different perspectives. Especially given that Alex has been trained to see her as evil, it was particularly intriguing to see him wrestle with what he has been taught and what his intuition tells him.

The hardest part about reviewing a book that is one part of a trilogy, is that it feels like writing about a book after only reading the first several chapters. There’s so much more still to read! I look forward to being able to read the other two books, and writing about the whole series as one!

Summer’s End is a fast paced, exciting, fantasy novel that keeps you anxious to see what happens next! If you enjoy light fantasy, be sure to add this one to your list! I can’t wait to see how it turns out!

***I received a free copy from the author and I'm giving my honest opinion***

This is a story of forbidden love between Summer and Dooney. She's The Light and He has trained since He was a child to kill her, because of a prophecy that states "She will burn the world to ashes"
She wakes up with no memory of her life, with two friends who are always there to help her, they might seem creepy at times but there's a reason for it. Then there's Dooney who's determined to "Save the world" even If it means "killing her before she burns everyone"

It's been a while since I read a YA Paranormal Romance, it's addictive! It was hard to put down this book. I found the story very creative, something I haven't read before, which is a plus and also refreshing! It's narrated from different POV, so you will know how both characters think. It has some nice and unexpected plop twists, here and there. I had a hard time liking Dooney... He's too full of himself... I hope to see a develop of his character in the next book. Also, I'd love to read a prequel about both of them and how exactly they fell for each other.

I enjoyed this book. The character of Summer was a character I liked. The story was interesting and kept me wanting to read more. The other characters some grabbed me in the story more than others but I think that is what makes a great story. Some characters we love to hate to, right? This book was really good all the way around for me. *This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.*

I managed to get through 30% and was obliged to put it down - do people really speak like that - I know most the swearwords from about half a dozen languages - but that's no achievment to be sure

The two narrators - I saw Alec and his nickname of Dooney - as a kind of greeting to Wuthering
Heights and instantly felt sorry for him - a traveller - within a thoughtless community of vaguely unpleasant people
He seemed to respect his People's traditions - the "OTHERS" however - they seemed to see themselves as a higher order of being - they were callous and brittle people - spiteful which was a characteristic of mid-teens during the fifties - sure - I am THAT OLD

The short sentences - moved the story along it had a good moving pace and at first I tried (yes tried) to like the book for the sake of the loving memory of another pair of eyes - that were more moving than the eyes of Alec Doone - and they too were green - this review will never be finished I made a bad mistake trying to write a review of a book that has now become the first to be returned to Amazon I have close on to a Thousand - some Kindle some paper back and some Hardback - I read them and love them and am ill disposed to count them for the sake of anyone's idle curiosity

What I write I write now for AMAZON

As Summer opens her eyes, she feels as if she's in a strange place. Looking around she realizes she's in the hospital but that's all she knows. Summer tries to sit up and the pain shooting through her is horrible. If only she could remember how she got here. Then again, it must have been something pretty bad if she landed here. She'll figure it all out, she has too.

This book is fantastic! The story line is easy to follow. It's a well plotted book and Ms. Brown set the pace at an easy speed. You're gonna love the characters, I know I do. They are richly developed and realistic. I enjoy the fact Ms. Brown keeps you just outside the loop so you don't figure things out until she wants you to. *smile* This one should be on your TBR pile and on your young adult's TBR pile. Perfect for a book club to read and discuss. I didn't want it to end. Thank you Ms. Brown for another book I can wholeheartedly recommend.

I didn't find any issues. I would however like to know more about the friends.

I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because it has a very powerful ending. A copy of the book was provided by the author and I voluntarily reviewed it.

What do you do when the love of your life is prophesied to burn the world to ash?

For the lives of Summer and Dooney Alex, that question is one that burns in their hearts.

Summer's End is a YA fantasy story filled with intrigue and adventure. We're first introduced to Summer, a girl struggling to recover from traumatic burns as she finds herself in the hospital with amnesia. From there, we embark on Summer's new life as she struggles to re-adjust to her old routine, with the help of her friends. Every glimpse and flashback she has brings her one step closer to discovering the truth about herself and those around her even as it leaves readers on edge for her.

Summer was a unique character from the start, scarred emotionally and physically, she struggled to regain what she had lost while battling that fiery power within her.
Even as she tries to move forward, Alex haunts her footsteps, with one mission in mind... to kill her before she destroys the world. Just as Summer wishes for normalcy, Alex longs to live a regular life instead of the dark world he has been forced to grow up in. At first, he seems like an anti-hero, alternatively wanting to kill Summer while struggling with his growing feelings for her. He is tormented by the weight of the world almost literally on his shoulders. For him and for Summer, their destinies were set before their paths crossed but can they change their fate?

Thankfully, we are able to read from the point of view of both Summer and Alex, something that I appreciate. I always enjoy having insight into what the other person, besides the main character, is thinking and feeling. It gives a greater understanding of their psyche and allows readers to have a better appreciation of the character interactions, in general.

From page one, the story intrigued me. The puzzles surrounding Summer, Alex, and their friends is a complex web of lies, a twisted tangle of mysteries and fragile trust, with delicate bonds that will be broken and betrayed before their stories are finished.

Special thank you to the author for providing me with a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to Kristy Brown for sending me a free copy in exchange of an honest review !

Summer's End is about Summer, a girl who wakes up badly burnt with no memories and Alex, a guy trained to kill Summer. They are both inexplicably attracted to each other and don't know why.

I overall really enjoyed Summer's End. The beginning was a bit slow, but once we learn about Summer's past, everything went very fast ! Maybe too fast, as it felt like everything happened in 3 days and the big amount of information given at once made some events a bit confusing.

I liked Summer, I think she's relatable and a good character. I also liked Alex (or Dooney), I liked how he was really conflicted between is duty and his feelings for Summer. While I don't really like Coral and Persia, I loved Andie ! I hope we'll keep seeing her in the other books, I thought she was a really good friend. None of the characters are too complex or deep which is something that I liked since this book is really short. The story alternates between Summer's and Alex's point of views which is something I don't often read but absolutely love as I like knowing what the other protagonist is exactly thinking !

However I didn't really like Summer and Alex's relationship so I hope it will grow into me in other books. I felt like their relationship was every instalove and they never really felt like enemies even though Alex is supposed to kill her. Everything was just too quick for me, I would have liked some slowburn.

The plot reminded me a little of the Evermore series, which was one of my favorites as a teenager. There were some unexpected plot twists which left me a bit surprised . It was quite a short read and it ended on a cliffhanger so I'm really curious about book 2.

It has been a long time since I read a YA book but thanks to Kristy Brown she has reignited my love of them!
What a ride! If the synopsis doesn't initially pull you in then rest assured start reading the first page and it'll have you wanting to know more. Although I have to admit the beginning of the book was a little slow for my tastes but it soon picks up and grabs your attention.

Summer and Alex are easily loveable but in their own rights. And I absolutely adored Andie! Don't get me wrong there were points in the story that if I could climb in and slap Summer or punch Alex and definitely high five Andie I would have happily done so haha but that's what makes a good book right?

I loved how many different surprises there was...Like literally one minute I was so smug that I thought I'd figured it all out then BAM complete twist which ultimately made me keep reading! Plus i'm a massive sucker for a dual POV.
Now that ending... Have you ever finished a book and looked at the last page and mentally been like "holy smoke balls she can not seriously end it like that?!" yep that was me! Now I have to patiently hope that there will be a book 2... Please be a book 2 *batters eyelashes*

So to sum up It's been written very well and has the right amount of mystery and intrigued to keep you curious. I admit that were are points that for me I struggled with, such as how needy Summer can be at the beginning, but otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed the book and would recommend to any YA lover.

This started out very promising and interesting, unfortunately as it moved along I became very disillusioned and unhappy with the story in and of itself. About halfway in I figured out the novel and series plot and I was not happy, but I kept reading to the end. I wish I had not done so. Perhaps this book would work out well for others, but for myself finding a book that is basically Satan versus God with the NA and fantasy stamped on it is not my sort of read. The ending didn’t even give me an HEA or a series promise of an HEA. It felt like reading the Divergent series if Satan happened to be there, so something I would DNF and return to the bookstore. But as I said before opinions are subjective to the reader and I have already spoiled too much about this book and that’s not something I do in my reviews.
So I thank the author for letting me read this for my honest review. It was not my cup of tea, but that doesn’t mean it won’t catch your attention and be exactly what YOU are looking for.
