Definitely needed a short and cute novella to get me into the Christmas spirit. Meanwhile, my tree has been up for a week or two. Christmas shopping is basically done already. Oh, and I've been watching Christmas movies since Halloween. Don't even ask about Christmas music.. you won't like the answer.
Just know that I'm trash for Christmas. I love it. It's my favorite holiday because the movies and music bring me so much joy. Oh, and don't forget the snow because I LOVE snow. Even if we get jipped every damn year. If anyone can grant me a birthday/Christmas wish, give me snow. Like a blizzard.
Sorry to everyone in my state that hates snow. You suck.
Back to this book, in it you will meet Penny and James. Now they were all kinds of cute and the insta-love was flying everywhere. Who cares if they knew each other for like 2 minutes and basically got engaged. THEY HAVE CHEMISTRY AND SPARKS DAMMIT!
It was also really cute how she turned the anti-Christmas, aka Christmas Eve, into something fun for the guys again. So far this novella was my favorite out of this series.. and I only read the first two books. #Awkward.

I have just finished Obsessed and felt to cry that there was no more James Hunter for a while so I had to download this and get my fix.
This did not disapoint.. PENNY IS SO LUCKY!! He is just everything, he even gave me butterflys in this and has made me want to go out there and find my Professor James Hunter ready for Christmas🤣. I loved that Mason, Matt and Rob were in this and they are all together it was giving me Empire High withdrawls a little but I can wait.. lol. Amazing book once again Ivy! Please dont ever let go of James Hunter and Penny we need to keep them going somehow! This will also get you in the mood for Christmas😁❤ 🎄

James the Christmas Grinch by Ivy Smoak is a fun little novella that is part of the Hunted Series. Unfortunately, I can’t remember where the novella would fall in the series anymore. I read the series back in like 2021 and just never got around to reading this book. That being said, it was nice to get more story about those characters.
James and Penny are living in New York City and about to spend their first Christmas together. It’ll also be the first Christmas that Penny isn’t spending with her parents. While trying to not think about being away from her parents, she realizes James has little to no Christmas decorations or plans. She decides that she’ll make James love Christmas, if it’s the last thing she does.
Honestly, this novella is less than 100 pages and a perfect quick Christmas read. I absolutely loved getting to learn more about Penny and James’s first Christmas together. It was cute, fun and magical. I probably skills have read this novella back when I originally read the Hunted series, but honestly it wasn’t that big of a deal. I remember all the characters mentioned and you don’t need too much of the main story to enjoy this novella. Definitely give it a read if you want some more Penny and James.

Although I really enjoyed James and Penny, I have too many unanswered questions about their relationship: why does everyone hate just her, (was she the only one in the bed, or was James there too?) Did the affair cost him his job as her professor?
After reading some of the reviews, I now realize this is part of a series. Just what I need, to add MORE books to my TBR list. Lol!!!!

James the Christmas Grouch is by Ivy Smoat. This is a novella that goes after book Temptation and Addiction in The Hunting series. We are introduced or reintroduced to Rob, James’ brother; Mason his best friend: and Matt, Mason’s brother. The four of the boys had been together since they were little. They had their own reasons for not being inundated with Christmas Spirit.
Penny was looking forward to making new Christmas traditions with James this year. Traditions that incorporated each other’s family traditions and new ones made by themselves. However, between his work, her school, and their social life; she hadn’t even had time to decorate. She had purchased the decorations and refused Ellen’s help in decorating. Now, it was three days before Christmas and they were just picking out their tree. They finally chose a perfectly imperfect tree and took it home only to discovered Rob was there and they had forgotten about a tree stand.
Two days before Christmas, she learned that Rob would be spending Christmas with his parents; but once more, she and James were not invited. His parents refused to meet her so James refused to go over to see them.

Not my thing... Dual perspective, holiday novella. When I started the book I neglected to notice that it was part of a series (which is really an oops on my part.) But her internal monologue and general irritation level with her situation drove me batty. It was a lot of story and drama with a smaller amount of steam than I am used to (which makes me feel dirty for saying this was too clean.) I think part of me was hoping there would be steamy steam scenes since there was so much drama (the hotter the fights the hotter the steam) but that was very much not the case.
I was also rubbed the wrong way by her desire to make all the Anti-Christmas people all cheery. This certainly didn't bode well with me. Not everyone who isn't enthusiastic about the holiday needs someone to fix them. I found that to be pushy and irritating.

It's the 1st October, I had just finished Obsessed from James' Pov and felt lost in the world of Penny and James. I found this little gem of a novella.

She sprinkles a little magic, and they share an amazing first Christmas.
I still adore Rob and Penny's dynamic, and in a different reality, they are so together!
This book has all the Christmas feels and gave me a warm, cosy hug. 😍 James can do no wrong in my eyes, and Penny is adorable. Lots of cute moments, sexy bits, and just beautiful characters.

This was a mistake… I saw it was part of a series but without a number, I assumed it didn’t matter when you read it. And it clearly does.
I have no idea why these people are together, why the paparazzi is following her, and why it is anybody else’s business.
And why is this under age girl with a professor? And who in NY would care?
His friends are … I want to say gross.
Dude… no.
His Christmas pop up book just sounds awful… hallmark? Really?
She just sounds whiny and I can’t work out why they are even together.

I am obsessed with the Hunted Series
I absolutely love James and Penny... I can not get enough of the two of them. I read the entire series as well as the Light in the Darkness books in a week! I wish there were more to the series already but the 5th book won’t be out for quite a while 😕 oh well I guess I will just have to re read the entire series before it comes out 😊 I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who loves a steamy romance with a dramatic flair because it is 100% a page turner you will not be able to put down. You will laugh and cry and even want to yell at the characters in the book!

Can’t get enough!
Penny and James are perfect for each other. This Christmas Novella gives us a glimpse into life when Penny first moves to New York after everything happened at school, the paparazzi following them constantly, and her first Christmas with James. Rob is Rob as usual, inappropriate but cute and fun. Mason and Matt are having issues with their parents as well. Penny does everything she can to get James into the Christmas spirit, and she also manages to get the rest of her newly formed family on board as well. She not only shows her devotion to James, but she shows how much she cares for the people who are important to him. 💗💗💗

My favorite couple James and Penny have moved to New York. They have an apartment together and spending their first Christmas together. James is not all that into Christmas and Penny loves it! She has to change his feelings. They had different upbringings and traditions. Penny wanted to make new ones together. She will do everything in her power to change his mind. He loves her and will do everything to make her happy. The guys have an anti Christmas Eve. Penny decides to change their mind. She truly loves Christmas. James and the guys try to do things. The guys like her so they accept her proposal.Penny’s power of persuading help turn the guys around. Love James and Penny

First, I have not read the other books in the series, just this sweet novella.
Overall, I enjoyed this short read (less than 100 pages) and would recommend to anyone. There’s one spicy scene, but the novella really tracks trying to get James to enjoy Christmas again. Penny tries to make their first Christmas together magical, but time starts to slip by and she doesn’t know if she can get James to believe in the magic. Come Christmas morning there’s a sweet surprise for Penny! Such a cute story between these two!

This novella was adorable! This small glimpse into their life around the holidays after leaving Newark and moving to NYC was everything I expected and more!
James and Penny have such an epic love and this book just added to my love for them! Rob never ceases to make me laugh and Mason’s soft side warms my heart to uncharted levels!
This is definitely a must read if you’re looking for more James and Penny!!

Super cute and sweet a Christmas story
This is such a great series, and this novella was a perfect addition. Penny and James are so wonderful together and so much in love. And it’s so sweet how James’s friends have become Penny’s too and how much she’s invested in their happiness too.
Best part of the book by far though, is Rob’s Christmas present for Penny! I was dying!! Perfection!

Loved it...I must admit that after reading book one in this series...I said in my review that I found our heroin a tad too childish...I wasn't going to bother with the rest of series...but I liked James... and I thought that she would get older so would grow up a bit...well I read this little book to see and loved it...going to read the rest of the series now...well done Ivy.x

James The (smoking hot) Christmas Grouch
Penny and James show us once again how love continues to grow in this adorable Christmas book. My only complaint is it’s a short story but leave it to Ivy to pack in the perfect amount of love, comedy and kinky time. Rob is one of my favorite characters in any series I’ve read and this short story plays to his talents.

5 Stars doesn't do justice to it. If I could give it more I would. Being to experience James and Penny's first Christmas together was truly amazing. And how can we not love the book when Rob is involved, nontheless Matt and Mason. It was heartwarming when all four men went from Anti-Christmas to Christmas believers. And as only Rob would say, "Let's Christmas Eve shit out of everything!"

Truly, truly terrible. She insists on going to ‘anti-Christmas’ to join in on James’ traditions. Then can’t give it a second before insisting that everyone celebrate Christmas. Then they all love it, but… she doesn’t do anything interesting with them…? So much ‘only girl’ energy, where they all love her kooky ways. But she is soooo boring and kind of very dumb? So many bad jokes too. I didn’t get this book.

Every story about James and Penny is a must read. This one is about their first Christmas together. Their vision about Christmas spirit could not be more different. As usual, Penny ultimately sells James on her homey Christmas traditions. And since he is always over the top romantic, he does not disappoint. I recommend it as a I nice read in between tree decoration and baking holiday cookies.
