I grabbed this one for our homeschool science, thinking the comic book format would appeal to my boys in particular. It had a lot of good information (I appreciate that it also mentioned plasma, since that was the 4th state of matter in our CC memory work). The boys gave it mixed reviews. One said it was ok, the other said it was boring.

The book was boring. Even though it was a comic book.

This graphic novel is Excellent to put in any earth science classroom! The story moves through the states of matter. This book describes atoms & molecules, melting/freezing points, and the states of matter between evaporation and condensation. The later is especially helpful for my students who still have misconceptions between the different states in the water cycle and the forces that drive that cycle. This is a book that can be given to a high functioning student that needs an additional assignment.

Another good source of science curriculum for 4th graders on up from Max Axiom Super Scientist! This book does a relatively good job describing this topic. There was a part or two that could have been clarified a bit more... but was better discussed on the website facthound.com that this book recommends and gives a code for in the afterward. The combination of the website and the book are very informative and educational.

A good addition to a lesson on the states of matter. My 4th & 5th graders enjoyed it and would like to read more Max Axiom graphic books.
