I am so sad that this is the last look into Con's past that we'll be getting like this. I just love reading about his and Erith's times together. Though maybe this means that the big secret will finally be revealed soon and Con will at last know it's always been the same woman...and she just happens to be Death. I, for one, cant wait for this to happen! Their chance meetings are never actually by chance, but they happen when they both need it most. Those two truly are the perfect friends for each other. I just love their easy relationship. I was wondering what Erith's gift for Con would be this time, and it was another perfect one.

Constantine

Oh Donna, I love Con more each time I read something about him. This gives so much more incite to the man he is. Yes I say man, because this is the way I see him. The Dragon is secondary. I know this isn't what the story is about, but seeing him as a man with mortal problems and feelings help to understand what he is going through as the King of Dragons. I don't think there's a better way you could have displayed what as King, he is and what he has to face and the decisions he has to make everyday. He is still my very favorite dragon, I love the others too, but from day one he has stolen my heart. If there's anyone who hasn't read any of Donna Grant's series, you have missed the read of a lifetime. She deserves all 5stars and then more. She has a way of making you feel like you're part of the families in each of the books.

REVIEW: 3.5 stars-CONSTANTINE: A History Part 3 is the third and final instalment focusing on Constantine King of the Dragon Kings in Donna Grant’s Dark Kings paranormal, romance series.

CONSTANTINE: A History Part 3 reveals a little more back story about Constantine, the King of the Dragon Kings, and his earlier relationship with a woman, known by several names including Erith, Iris, and in Part 3 Willow, but ultimately a woman he will come to know as Death.

For a very quick read, there were some technical issues including a complete repetition of one particular chapter, and under the circumstances, for a short book, the inclusion of a duplicate chapter was disappointing and thusly requires another round of editing. The premise was interesting but for all intents and purposes does not reveal very much information.

Overall Parts 1, 2, and 3 would have been better off released as a single book, as each instalment was short and only revealed three previous encounters between Constantine and Erith. Erith is an entity, a woman that controls the ‘Reapers’ found in the author’s Dark Alphas series, a series that is connected to the author’s Dark Kings. CONSTANTINE Part 3, like Parts 1 & 2 is more of a teaser, and leads the reader down a path that may or may not foretell the future.

Another woman, another gift, lessons shared…

This is the third part of Constantine’s history from the Dark Kings series, another short story that provides some insight into the most intriguing and isolated Dragon King, the loneliest one with the heaviest of burdens. This also ties-in to the Reapers series.

It’s the 1920’s and Constantine is in Inverness seeing to the building reputation of Dreagan whiskey. As has happened before he runs into an intriguing woman that brings to mind the other two that he’d met. He wonders if she could be the same woman. Her looks are different but she captivates him as did the others met long ago, a rare occurrence for this multi-faceted man to have his attention distracted from his burdens. The time is well spent, lessons are shared by both, and an unexpected beautiful gift is left for him. What do these chance encounters signify? They are not lost as Constantine notes them in his personal journals, his form of therapy for a leader who must keep his own counsel, along with a drawing of the woman’s visage which he’s yet to compare to the others he’d drawn, distracted from doing so. Constantine is the most enigmatic, fascinating dragon king of the series but underneath it all, he is a man who has a depth of feeling that he just keeps hidden.

The story ends at 68% on a kindle followed by an excerpt from Dark Alpha’s Demand. There is an editing problem with this version, the second and third chapters are the same.

Constantine: A History Part 3 is a short novella that lets us learn more about the growing connection between Con and Erith. It shows Constantine as an individual and not in his role as the King of Dragon Kings. Likewise, Death shows her "human" side as Erith, something she can't present in her position as Death. Disappointingly, I found Part 3 a bit too similar to the previous two novellas about Con. The ending of Constantine: A History Part 3 was quite intriguing .

My final comment is from an editorial perspective. The first chapter after the prologue repeats in its entirety a second time. It does not appear that I am missing any chapters.

This novella (short story) is #11.8 in the series, "Dark Kings" by author; Donna Grant. It's actually in 3 small novellas (short stories) so this review is solely on part 3 which is set in the 1920s (human years). This super short novella gives the reader just a little taste on what Constantine (King of the Dragon Kings) is all about and what his thoughts are during that time and the past. I LOVED reading a glimpse of his past and the OMG character surprise =)!!!! Definitely, a must read for all you Dragon King fans but you seriously have to read all the novels and novellas before to actually know what's going on. You won't be disappointed at all!

As you all are aware of by now these books are very short stories but they each give the back story to the items we always see Con with. First it was the cuff links, then the pocket watch, and now the Mont Blanc pen. All are connected to Erith but it isn’t until Torched that Con figures that out. This book has Erith in another disguise and they are in Scotland in the 20’s. The whiskey has taken off but Con still feels like they didn’t do enough to keep the humans from taking over. Get a look into Con’s doubts and fears in this glimpse into the past.

"Constantine: A History Part 3" by Donna Grant. Book 13.1 in the Dark Kings series.

This book is NOT to be read as a stand alone. If you haven't read the Dark Kings series then you won't understand the significance of the characters and what they are talking about. It is meant more for the fans of the series.

Needless to say, these brief glances into Constantine's past and his connection to Erith (Death) is really interesting. It shows how the past made Constantine the Dragon shifter he is today.

Very entertaining and interesting. I liked it.

1920s and Con is heading to Inverness to do business for Dreagan. While walking through the market he collides with a woman that intrigues him. her name is Willow and she asks him to have a cup of tea with her. they talk and take a walk to the pier to see dolphins. he does one better and takes her on a boat and they see a whole pod. she reminds him to appreciate the little things in life. she gifts him a pen. a very nice pen. I think he is putting it together that this may be the same woman or 3 different women. either way he has made a friend.

Repeated part

I was a little bit ticked when I read the same exact chapter, one after the other. From location 18 to location 40, 2 separate chapters, began and ended exactly the same, word for word. That was a good sized chunk of the whole damn book!!!! I just thought it was strange. Donna Grant just doesn't make mistakes like that. But, it makes no sense that it was deliberate!! Confused. Oh well. I guess we know Con a little better? I'm not sure. Like I said, confused.

Great read

This was great too short tho. I love the looks into Cons past an him seeing (Iris, Heather, Willow) Erith an how I hope they end up together. Was mad because for some reason the part where Con gets off to meet Kendric was repeated an not sure if I missed a part. Another great novel but sad it's comming to an end but thought same when the warriors ended an she wrote another amazing series. Thank you Donna Grant for another amazing story.

Constantine part 3 allows us another perk into Con's past. Con is on his way to a business meeting when he runs into a very intriguing woman a woman that he feels like he has met before.
Willow was going to come to Con as Iris again and chickened out. Instead she used magic to change her appearance again. Willow feels a deep kinship with Con and loved their chats.

Another look into the heart of the king of kings

Every book though short shows the struggles that Con went through over the centuries. His doubts and fears are evident, so we can see that while we might not like him in the 1st half of the series, he does care and feel more that we think.

These short stories about Constantine have come to an end and I’ve really enjoyed them. It was nice seeing Erith again, as Willow. She and Con had such a wonderful day, having collided in the market place, and both came away feeling happier and a little less worried about all that lies heavily upon their shoulders. I mean, he’s the King of all the Dragons and she is Death.

A day in the life

This book is about a day in Con's life when he meets with Willow(Erith). He is feeling overwhelmed with life but "Willow" helps him see life from a different perspective.
I have liked all three of these little snippets of Con's past. They are not very long but is a place to get some insight into Con's feelings and thoughts.

Really good book

I have always enjoyed reading the Dragon Kings. It's an amazing story with wonderful characters. Con started off being someone you wanted to dislike but he has grown and changed in so many ways. I kind of hope com and Death match up together that would be an amazing couple working together.

With each part of Constantine's history I learn a little more about Con. Each part is a quick, fun read building up to present day Con. It is the guidance of a different woman in each part that helps him see what is needed from him. Con opens up and shows great kindness to Willow, foregoing meetings. I didn't think he knew how to put work aside. Happy to be proven wrong.

Glimpse into the past

I love these little glimpses we see of Con and Erith in the past interacting with each other. They both seem to help each other during a period of time when they could use a friend.

Constantine is an enigma

The final novella about a period in time in the life of Constantine. They are short, but sweet, each giving us more glimpses of who he really is and what haunts him the most. Definitely not to be missed.

Again Donna has put a taste of what is to come without knowing who Con is going to have as his mate! (or when) I thank you for writing these three parts to help us, me, to get to know Con and his ways and reasonings behind his decisions.

After another hundred years later (again), she came as Willow. Yes, she changed her appearances like she did previously but she had a solid modus operandi. Leaving a gift after every visit and well, the almighty dragon still couldn't piece it together! You are defo daft, Con. OMG.
