All stories in the LIFE (Love is for Everyone) series portray true-to-life, teen-aged characters, with real personalities and common issues, who experience the lightning bolt of first love in their own, individual ways!
This was a short and sweet YA romance/novella. Honestly, it was a little too short for me to connect with Hannah or Liam, but as a whole, it was well written, and I enjoyed it.

A Date for Hannah is a sweet romance that can be read by anyone. The author was able to bring depth and an emotional connection between Hannah and Liam in this short amount of time The
The story focused on second chances, body image and new love. These successes and challenges for both Liam and Hannah were woven with care throughout the book.
Often times we aren't willing to forgive so quickly but I appreciated that these two didn't hesitate to show their feelings. They were at the start of love and a new relationship.
We are given a happy for now ending but I don't doubt that this couple managed to succeed.
FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE AUTHOR THROUGH A THIRD PARTY MARKETING COMPANY. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!
This was more of a 3.5 star read for me, but definitely worth rounding up to 4 stars! My chief complaint with it was that it was too short!
The story starts out almost immediately at the wedding of Hannah's half-sister. We get very little "slice of life" scenery on Hannah or Liam, everything just revolves around the wedding, which I didn't think was very realistic. They both have issues in their past, but Hannah really didn't open up about hers, which I think she should have after Liam shared about his. I also think that their falling for each other was a little too instantaneous, as I would have preferred to see them dating a bit more before the inevitable declaration of feelings.
However, the characterization of this story was spot on! I loved Hannah as a character! I could totally identify with her, in every aspect! I loved rooting for her and Liam to get together! Liam was a great hero for her as well! He came across as older/already graduated, so I didn't get a good handle on his age, but I loved that he could see Hannah's beauty, even though she wasn't beautiful by society's standards, and I loved that he also acknowledges this in the book! I almost wish that this had been written when I was back in High School, it would have done wonders for my self-esteem back then!
While I had some issues with the pacing of the story, I think that this was a quick and enjoyable read that I won't hesitate to recommend to my own daughter!
This new story from Callie Henry (pen name for Katy Regnerys YA writing) is absolutely spot on. It is a sweet and romantic story in the purest of forms. Young love, first love, complicated & troublesome pasts, body image hang-ups - it contains so much which is very true and relevant to real life!
The story is about acceptance and understanding. The characters were absolutely perfect, and they way they are described felt very realistic. Hannah’s personality was brilliant, her insecurities and feelings of ‘not fitting in’ was described well.
That is until Liam comes along and gives her the butterflies she’s longed for. I loved the chemistry between these two! It was sweet, kind, caring and thoughtfully written.
This is a YA book which you wouldn’t hesitate to let your daughters read. Fans of Katy Regnery will enjoy this as her signature style shines through from every page. Would definitely recommend!
This was a very sweet young adult romance. I think that it can be read by people of all ages but I definitely see this being more enjoyable to a true young adult audience.
The themes covered in Hannah and Liam’s story are relevant and realistic and the author tackles them in a light-hearted but honest way. There is a definite instalove vibe to the story and, while I didnt completely mind it, I do wish that we’d gotten to see them really get to know each other over a longer period of time. However, I also feel that it works for the type of story that this is meant to be.

ARC Review: A Date For Hannah (Love is for Everyone) by Callie Henry
A Date For Hannah is a tale that can appeal to anyone. Self image struggles are a cross we all must bear. No matter the age or color, there is a Hannah inside us all struggling to break free. Liam is a representation of the beauty we all possess, but have trouble seeing. A beautiful story that's universally relatable as well as irresistible is always a winner in my eyes.
A Date for Hannah by Callie Henry, a pseudonym for Katy Regnery, who I love, is a young adult romance with all the feels. A story of a young high school girl with concerns about herself and her self-image that run deep and the curveball life throws at her.
While at her sister’s wedding, the very hot Liam, spends time with Hannah. But she distrusts why he is giving her his attention, even as she is attracted to him. But as they spend time together and get to know each other, you begin to root for this couple. The story was so sweet and open.
Callie Henry did an amazing job bringing to life Hannah and her struggles. It was a quick read with all the feels and I loved both the characters so much. This is a story that can be read by anyone and I loved the underlying message in this story.
I received a free copy through the author in exchange for an honest and unbiased review/opinion.
4 stars — This was a cute little read! It was short and, as a result, things moved quite quickly — which isn’t always a bad thing, but it did feel a bit quick on the feelings front. But even as short as it was, it still had some great messages for teens…that I think adults could stand to learn and remember as well!
For some reason I got it into my head that this was going to be a very young YA…but it really wasn’t. It was sweet and clean, but the writing didn’t feel too young…not sure if that makes sense.
Hannah was pretty easy to like and relate to — I think every human has an aspect of themselves that they feel insecure about. For the most part I understood her reservations and wariness about love…on occasion it felt a bit unreasonable, but I think that comes down to the length of the story. Perhaps if we’d seen more of Hannah before the wedding, we would have gotten a better sense of who she was on a day to day basis. But her struggles were very real, and I felt like she went through all the reasonable emotions. I was happy to read her internal thoughts after the misunderstanding…and see that she was already changed by her encounter with Liam, she just needed time to sort herself out before having the right conversations with the right people.
Liam was a total sweetie. Honestly, he almost felt a bit too good to be true, but he had his own struggles. I appreciated that while he may have looked like he would have no problems, he was dealing with mistakes of his past, and the way his peers perceived him as a result. I loved that we got a hero that was looking for love, but wasn’t being given the chance to develop it. It was kind of refreshing.
Their romance was totally sweet and swoony. While I mentioned it felt quick on occasion, I nevertheless felt their chemistry and adored the way their romance progressed. I felt like they had some great conversations and made significant connections.
I also appreciated Hannah’s relationship with her sister Bree…we didn’t get to see a lot of it, but I loved that they were close, and that Hannah could rely on her.
All in all I think this was a great first foray into the young adult genre for Ms. Henry (/Ms. Regnery), and I look forward to reading more stories in this series!
I LOVED this one, it was sweet and simply PRECIOUS. I'll admit I was a bit worried I won't connect with this one. I haven't been a teen for a while now... and I feel quite disconnected from a lot of things that happened "back then", and yet I could more than connect with Hannah and her struggles. As an "adult romance" reading I didn't mind one bit that this was quite innocent. I actually found it refreshing. This book is a YA intended to ALL readers, YA included. I wished I read this kind of a book back then though I feel I was a bit TOO cynic to enjoy it. Hannah has NOTHING on me on how isolated I was. Yet hope can be packaged in all kinds of different packages, sometimes you need to find the one best suited for you and most of the times, it's not the one you expect.
Hannah Giacomina and Liam Callahan meet on Bree wedding. Bree being Hannah's bigger sister. Before the wedding, knowing her sister is going to feel quite lonely Bree offers Liam to be Hannah's date (for a fee..) knowing they are probably going to be the only ones about the same age (and under 30..). Yet when Liam lays his eyes on Hannah, he couldn't care less what Bree offered him because he truly wants Hannah to BE his date, more than just for today.
Hannah and Liam spend the night together, up until the next day when he needs to get back to work. They have a MAGICAL time together. It was so tender and sweet. I enjoyed it so much! Both Liam and Hannah feel insecure about themselves, each for his/her own reasons. Hannah is quite ashamed of her looks (being overweight) and Liam made a few mistakes and he is now trying to sort out his life and make it better. Giving each other a chance feels like a risk they are worried about taking but still REALLY want to take.
As their time together comes to an end ,Hannah discovers Bree's offer to Liam and her feelings are shattered. Yet Liam has the best way to win her back. He was THE sweetest with his brave gesture. I hope there are still romantics like him in the world (at 17 I mean ;)) and Hannah, though insecure, when she had her time to think things through she could see beyond her insecurities which was also precious to read, to see the realization slowly building up.
There are so many endearing moments in this one. I really really enjoyed it! But I don't want to say more not to spoiler especially since this one is quite short. Katy, what a WONDERFUL sweet novel you've made for your kids and for so many other to read and enjoy.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, not matter your age.
I kindly received this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
A Date for Hannah by Callie Henry (the YA pen name for Katy Regnery) is Young Adult in its sweetest, purest, most adorable form. It’s a one-sitting read that moves quickly and filled my belly with butterflies. Fans of Ms. Regnery’s adult romance novels will be happy to know that her signature sort of lyrical writing, and breathtaking approach to romance are present in this stripped down, tender, sugary sweet love story between two adorable teens who don’t quite believe that love exists. It is fantastic. I had a feeling that Ms. Regnery would have no problem conquering this new genre – and I am thrilled to have been proved right.
No surprise here: I loved it! As an adult, I appreciated the innocence of this story, and the way it flashed me back to those first love feelings. I loved how it tackled some topical teen issues, while still maintaining an almost whimsical romance feel.
I also appreciate that this is true YA. It's not mature, nor is it intended to be and, as such, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to younger audiences (12+). It’s clean, it’s entertaining, it’s deeply romantic - and the overall message is one that resonates across all age groups. I absolutely look forward to more from where this simple, sweet, and swoony goodness came from. ~ Shelly, 5 Stars
A Date for Hannah was a YA written by Katy Regnery as Callie Henry. I thought it was such a touching story!!! Myself, and probably every other girl and woman out there, have had negative thoughts about their body and could identify with Hannah. Liam was the SWEETEST. Him liking Hannah just the way she is. I only wish the book was longer. I think A Date for Hannah should be read by everyone of ALL ages.
This is the first book in a new series, it is a ya contemporary that centers around a plus sized teenager who has never fallen in love or ever had a boyfriend. So she is at her sisters wedding and ends up meeting a boy about her age who shows interest in her and she can't believe it. She is definitely very leary of the situation but it unfolds beautifully.
I have to say that I love Katy Regnery, and her leap into the YA sphere is nothing short of beautiful. Her ability to weave a story together it takes my breath away. I love the amount of body positivity that Hannah tries to remind herself of. It was a quick paced sweet story.
Beautiful job I can't wait to read the rest of this series.
A Date for Hannah was an adorably sweet read about first love. The meet cute in this one was just so freaking cute, I found myself smiling the entire time.
Hannah is a young woman, she's not super model thin and she has a lot of self doubt. Part of that of course has to do with some of her past experiences. Liam was just amazing in this and he was the absolute sweetest.
Of course this book brings a little bit of the angst that comes with a first love. It touches issues regarding self esteem and confidence. A great YA read that I definitely recommend to anyone.
A Date for Hannah with is a great sweet read. Hannah is a great girl. She struggles with her image because of her weight. She is out of here element when she goes to her sister's wedding. There she meets Liam. Liam is a sexy swimmer. They have a connection and hit it off pretty quickly. Hannah tries to stay guarded and second guesses why Liam would want to be with her. Liam has a past but he's a pretty good guy. This one deal with teens issues but readers of any age will enjoy it.
FANTASTIC YA read! Absolutely enjoyable! Hannah & Liam are sweet, fun, funny, and a whole lotta swoooooon! The story is short & takes place over a short period of time, but I still felt like I got to know the characters, and more importantly, that they got to know each other. I felt their connection & felt invested in their HEA. Also, I love that the author put talking points at the end. Great idea for use in reading clubs. : )
Cute, sweet, teen romance. I enjoyed Hannah and Liam and their sweet story. Both have insecurities - Hannah with her weight and Liam with his past. I liked how they found kindred spirits in each other. But it was a little too insta-love, a little too much kissing, and not enough getting to know each other before jumping on the almost-love train.
Okay, so I’ll be honest with you, I don’t normally read YA books. Usually they just don’t keep me interested. A Date for Hannah though caught me totally by surprise. The issues raised in this book are relatable to anyone, not just teenagers. Perception of body image and feelings of inferiority can be relevant to anyone from any walk of life or from any age range.
The author of this book is known to me by another name (Katy Regnery) anyone who has ever read a book by this fabulously humble author will know she can run with any idea or scenario and turn it into a crazed page-turner of a read.
I couldn’t help but identify with Hannah. At her age I was exactly the same as she is. Awkward, body-conscious, and not at all good with dealing with compliments from boys. Family is important to her and she’ll do anything for them, and vice versa. This leads me to the wrong thing done for the right reasons and of course, this has implications for our young lovers.
Liam was the perfect person for Hannah, right from the beginning they hit it off so sweetly. Like a lot of people, he'd made mistakes in his past, mistakes he'd to live with day in and day out. One can only realise who they really are when they see themselves straight on through a mirror, or even through someone else’s eyes.
People who interfere do so more often and not out of love. So many times, interfering irrevocably damaged something far more than anyone realises. Does interference destroy Liam and Hannah before they even have a chance? Will Hannah stop crying herself down and see herself for what she really is?
The love in this book was sweet and delicate. First love is very often the only love we remember 50 years on.
‘And as she pulled his head down to hers for a kiss, Liam Callahan realized that while he was originally cast as a date for Hannah, he’d somehow ended up in the part he wanted most of all.’
A short read at no more than 120 or so pages, it can definitely be read in one sitting. So many people forget their first love once their lives move passed their teenage years. This book reminds us how sweet, innocent and exciting that first time can be. Firsts are for celebrating and this author has penned another gloriously enjoyable book. Well done and congratulations.
This is the first book by this author that I've read and it wont be the last one. This is a young adult story in its sweetest form. I don't usually read young adult books but this was a nice change. Lovely characters you just want to fall in love with as you read. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.
I haven't read Katy Regnery's book before, and I know that since this is a book that she wrote under her YA pen name, Callie Henry, I'm intrigued to check out the other romance books.
"A Date for Hannah" was one of those sweet romances in the YA genre that we end up loving from beginning to end no matter what age we are, and it reminded me why I first feel in love with romance books.
I have never read the author's other books, and I can't compare the writing styles, but I loved this one. I loved how she made Hannah and Liam relatable and how she was able to get us to connect with the storyline.
Both characters have problems and a past, but that just makes them real, because we all have a past and issues that he are dealing of have dealt with in our lives. And sometimes, it's hard to talk about those issues and that past/present, so it was interesting to me to read about the characters way of dealing with their own circumstances in life and their view on that. And to see if they would talk about it with each other or not while they were finding their way in the relationship their were forming.
The book had some aspect that I consider typical of most YA romances, although I didn't mind here, because it made me happy. It was a sweet book that made me want to read more about the Hannah and Liam, I feel like I could read another two books about them just doing regular things and going through life, with all the ups and downs, and I would finally have my romantic and curious side satisfied.
I loved Liam and Hannah so much. I loved how Liam saw Hannah and Hannah was so relatable. She had insecurities and didn't felt like she fitted in and it made me feel like it was the young teen Jéssica's story, because some of those problems and feelings Hannah had, happened to me too.
These are the kind of book that made me love YA, but I which this book had been written when I was a young teen and was trying to get my self-esteem back. Although all the YA romances I read when I was a teen were great and helped me get a bit empowerment, I didn't really dealt with my issues, and this one (an a lot of other books) talks about really important issues that maybe could have helped me a bit back then.
Young love and first love, complicated pasts, body image issues... Are just some of the components that are part of someone's life (past, present and future). And they are here, in this book, so it opens up the possibility of a debate about all the challenges in life. It's about acceptance, understanding, challenges in life and love. That's why it felt real in some ways. It made me feel like I was part of the story.
I totally recommend this book, no matter your age. If you want to read a cute, sweet and real YA romance, grab this one.
[I want to thank the author for the eCopy of this book in exchange for my honest review.]
I love YA; I feel like young adult books often have a stronger voice on social issues and all the things we as adults are often scared to talk about. A Date for Hannah touched on a couple of those issues gracefully, and I was impressed by Kary Regnery’s – writing as Callie Henry – foray into YA. This was quite a short book, I don’t have a word count, but I’d venture to guess it’s novella length and was a fun way to lose myself for an hour or so.
A Date for Hannah was such a sweet YA romance, one that is appropriate for teenagers and sends a fantastic message to girls who live in a society where everyone is telling them boys only like skinny, modelesque figures. Hannah struggled with seeing herself as anything but ‘the fat girl,’ but there was an entire world of people who saw her beauty, appreciated her for her curves, and knew that what was actually important went beyond skin deep.
Hannah was guarded; life had taught her – in myriad ways – to be leery of people and love. It showed her that kids could be cruel, love isn’t always true, and adults sometimes project their issues onto innocent children. Liam, while he had every reason to be the same way, was much more open and vulnerable. He had precisely the demeanor and patience Hannah needed to learn to accept herself, flaws and all, and start dismantling the walls she’d built around herself. They were adorable together, and he was so good for and to her, while she had the kindness and compassion he needed to see he was more than a product of his worst choices. I loved the way they were together.
My only wish for this book is that it had been longer, dug a little deeper. I have a pretty high bar set for YA, and A Date for Hannah skimmed that bar with its fingertips but didn’t quite reach it. Had it delved a little deeper into Hannah’s body image issues, Liam’s past, and really captured the circumstances and fallout of those issues this book could have been a spectacular novel.

…although it scared her to spend more time with him, she really didn’t want to push him away either. Could she find the courage to believe that this crazy-cute boy was interested in her?
Hannah has always struggled with her body image and has pretty much accepted that no boy will find her attractive so when a hot boy approaches her at her sister’s wedding and seems to show interest, she is not quick to trust his intentions. But Liam is truly taken by the quiet and beautiful girl and makes it his mission to get her to believe his interest is true by the end of the night. Liam’s charms ultimately win Hannah over and even though it’s only been one night, they find themselves falling hard for one another. When Hannah overhears some information the next day, however, her initial fears may end up coming true.
What an adorably sweet story this was! It’s a very quick read and I think it’s perfect for the young adult reader or really for anyone who enjoys a sweet romance. I thought that the story perfectly captured the magic of young love as well as the common issues that teenagers face. We’ve all been there and I am sure we can all find something to relate to in Hannah and Liam, whether it’s self-esteem issues or trying to find your way again after making a mistake. I think these themes are very relevant to teens today and will resonate well with those readers. And there’s nothing quite as pure as young love, who knows what the future might hold for these two, but it was still so sweet seeing their whirlwind romance. If you are looking for an easy, sweet, and very romantic YA story then you should definitely check out A Date for Hannah!
A Date for Hannah is so relevant and so good, where was Katy Regnery when I was a teenager?
All the self doubts that plague young girls not only dealing with body size, but hair color, skin type, crooked teeth, late puberty, early puberty, skin breakouts, what to wear, who to hang out with, what activities to participate in, what to eat...gah!! It's amazing any of us make it out of our teenage years without a full time therapist attached to our sides.
This is exactly why books like, A Date for Hannah, are so important for people to read. No one is perfect and both Hannah and Liam are beautifully damaged characters who are in need of the affection they can give to one another. This is the perfect example that in this world there is someone for everyone and you shouldn't let your past hold you back from a future of something wonderful.
Hannah deals with feelings of self-doubt mostly revolving around her size. The cruelness of boys who used to tease her in youth, now look at her with lust that she's matured, but also tell her that no one will ever love her because she's fat. When she meets Liam, who has his own past he'd rather leave there, she doesn't believe him that he could like her for her, but as the night wears on and Liam breaks down her defences she begins to believe him. However, when she learns that Liam may have been sent to be her date under false pretenses, the hurtful, shameful feelings of Hannah's past resurface and she's not sure what was real and what was an act.
A Date for Hannah is short in the terms of adult reading, but when I remember this falls under young adult, the length is perfect. Whether you are an adult or young adult reading this story I highly recommend it.
A Date for Hannah was so surprisingly sweet and emotional for me, it’s difficult to know where to start. First let me say, to be honest, when I first learned that one of my absolute must read authors, Katy Regnery, was flexing her creative story-telling chops under the new pen name of Callie Henry and was writing a young adult story, I was a little unsure and had a sprinkling of doubt as to whether this would be a story for me. I’m a 50 something romance reader and pretty much stick to the older couple genre with a bit more intense relationship experiences if you know what I mean. But I really couldn’t pass on this opportunity so forced my doubts aside and I am so glad I did.
As we all do from time to time, even as adults, teenager Hannah suffers with self-image and inner doubt issues. But from the moment she meets Liam at her sister’s wedding, who is a gorgeous boy and on the swim team at his school, Hannah begins to feel an attraction to him though never believing that he would have any interest in her. But as they spend time together, it soon becomes apparent that they are both feeling a connection they have never before experienced. Though the struggle of uncertainty rears its head inside Hannah’s mind, Liam slowly begins to whittle away the walls she has built around her heart until she finally waivers and they both begin to fall. But when a misunderstanding is revealed, will Hannah be able to get beyond what she overhears and see the truth of Liam’s feelings as they truly are?
Callie Henry (aka Ms. Regnery) absolutely scored big time with this thoughtful and lovely romance. She shows us that hearts of any age can fight battles from within but finding that one soul who truly sees who we are is sometimes all we need to finally believe in ourselves.
Shy, sweet Hannah is a character many can relate to. Living in her perfect sister's shadow. The insecurities of most teenagers come into play here: attractiveness, reputation, families. Their romance was totally sweet and understanding. I felt their chemistry and adored the way their romance progressed. It remind me of those hallmark movie something you want to read after a long of stress I also appreciated Hannah’s relationship with her sister Bree I loved that they were close, and that Hannah could rely on her irrespective of there family issue. Most of story happen at a wedding there is saying in my place "a wedding without drama is never a wedding". I was a little sad that it was quick, but I guess that what make it memorable and it will be miss. I love that the story was also from Hannah and Liam Point of View and both characters dream were realistic. Would had love to know her before the wedding like relationship with other family apart from Bree.
The misunderstanding between them I like the way it was clear, and this was a short put together, cute quick little read and love at first sight is more applicable to this book. But even as short as it was, it still had some great messages for everyone. This one was pretty innocent, but steamy all at the same time and the writing didn’t feel too young and immature. Also this was a great way to start an young adult genre for Ms. Henry (/Ms. Regnery), and I look forward to reading more stories in this series!
I received a free copy through the author in exchange for an honest and unbiased review/opinion.
Do you have a teenager who loved watching the Kissing Booth but you'd never let them in your Kindle? You need to #1click on A Date For Hannah by Callie Henry. It a perfect story that depicts all the insecurities and flutters of first love. #TrueStory I didn't sign up for review tour because YA. And we know I am the furthest thing from YA. But I read the synopsis and a few reviews. One review stuck with me as was in the same boat - older reader, not YA fan but love Katy Regnery’s stories. So I clicked it and read it.
This is exactly as advertised - Katy speaks to that audience demographic (14-18) but she still talks to them not at them. Which when I was that that age, I wanted to be talked to like an adult. Ms. Regnery really captured that 'feeling' of not knowing what you are feeling (attraction) but liking it all the same. There are some struggles with self image that every teen can relate to. Am I cute enough? Smart enough? Not awkward or weird? As adults, we can reminisce about those times. Because the storytelling is delivered in such a way that teens won’t struggle with it being ‘high brow’ language and relatable to them. Adults will not find it juvenile or cheesy as I’ve found some YA delivering to adult audiences to be.
I highly recommend it to anyone with teens wanting to read romance but never give them your Kindle password. For adults, if you want to find a trip down memory lane without feeling wrung out with drama, prepare to be entertained with Katy’s storytelling once again.
What a sweetest cutest romantic story of young love. Katy can write just about anything and I can’t get enough of her. This one is a bit different from her previous books as it follows a young high school couples but the story and the writing is captivating just the same.
Hannah is a bit shy, self-conscious, suffering the usual insecurities and teenage angst. When she attended her sister wedding she did not realize that she is about to meet the hottie swimmer Liam who will be her date for the day. I like Liam – he is a jock but super sweet who also has his own struggles. The two hit it off right away but Hannah was skeptical of his interests toward her. They fell hard for each other but then Hannah learned the truth about the day they met; and that ruined the bond and trust she thought they had for one another. Can the two work out their insecurities and misunderstandings and forgive each other?
This is the story of first love, teenage angst, growing pain and accepting who you are. A date for Hannah is realistic, sweet, pure, light-hearted, beautiful, magical and completely adorable. It’s a fast read which is perfectly suitable for young adult readers. The writing is as expected – fantastic!!! I loved it and highly recommended to readers of all ages.
