I credit my interest in writing romance to my grandmother. She gave me my first Harlequin to read during the hot summer days I spent on my grandparent's acreage in rural Oklahoma.

Immediately I was hooked!!!

Over the years, I would pick up a pen and write down ideas, but it wasn't until I joined Romance Writers of America and then Oklahoma Romance Writers did I become serious. During that time, I completed eight novels.

The first two will never, ever see the light of day. In fact, I should probably destroy these so no one accidentally reads them! Around my third book, I joined a critique group and began to really study the craft of writing.

From there I entered entered several writing contests. In March 2003, one part of my writing dreams came true when I finaled in the Golden Heart.
In late 2000, I learned I placed Honorable Mention in Harlequin's Blaze contest, and began corresponding with the editor who bought my first book. I also won a writing round robin on eHarlequin, which was loads of fun!

On December 18, 2003, I got "The Call" from Harlequin. Actually, my answering machine received the privilege. My seventh novel, Never Naughty Enough was published as a Harlequin Temptation Heat. My sixth novel, Share the Darkness, will be published in April of 2006

I make my home in Oklahoma (where many of my books are set) with my husband and two children. My hobbies include reading, water aerobics with my mother every morning and watching OU play ball. The least domestic thing I like to do is cook.

I met my then future husband as a freshman at the University of Oklahoma (Go Sooners!!), but we didn't marry until after I received my Master's from Missouri State (Yea Bears!). My husband hero often worked overtime so I could attend RWA's National Conferences. The most romantic thing he ever did was arrange for his parents to watch our children so he could drive me to Houston, Texas for the Emily Awards.

Honestly, I want to watch this movie right now! It was such a cute storyline. I loved the characters. I loved the opening scene of Quinn as a little girl and getting a quick glimpse of what made her desire to save the family Christmas ornament company burn so brightly. Nolan was a great character and watching his overcoming a recent traumatic experience was sweet to watch. Sweet may not be the word that others would choose but for me it was sweet. It was hopeful, showing us readers that there is hope, there is healing and time and a great support system (or person) can do much in helping the healing process.

Quinn and Nolan together. In a word (or two) Stinking cute! They were just so real, pure, open, honest, in their attraction and feelings towards each other. I loved the scenes with the two of them together. I loved having the point of view alternating between the two of them. I love being in the characters' heads. So much great information is revealed and the feelings that can be expressed and examined, I love it!

I will say that I didn't connect as much with the writing as I had hoped to. This could be a case of, "it's me not you." But I did find myself skimming several times through some moments of the book. It could honestly be that life is super busy for me right now and I really wanted to read this book and see how these two characters would find their healing and love. Hence the skimming to save me some time. I didn't skim it all but some of the slower moving parts so I could read all the meat of the story. It was a cute and sweet story that was a perfect Christmas read for me to enjoy in my short bursts of free time. If you're a Hallmark movie/book lover I think you'll enjoy this one. The glass blowing aspects were very well written and very interesting to read about. If you haven't seen glass blowing done, I highly recommend it when the chance presents itself. I used to live in a community that had many, many glass blowers and it was so fun to go watch when they opened up their shop for visitors.

Content: Clean. A few moments of peril, one being a fire and a character running into the fire to rescue an animal. A few sweet kisses and nothing further.

I received a copy from the publisher, Hallmark Publishing, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

For years, the Hardwick Ornament Company’s artisan glass blown ornaments were “must haves” for family Christmas trees. Two families, the Hardwicks and the Vessers had crafted the “heart of Christmas” at their small factory in New England.

Quinn Hardwick is the great-great-grandaughter of the founder. She has recently inherited the abandoned ornament company. She has also inherited the passion and vision needed to make her dream of resurrecting the ornament production come alive.

Nolan Vesser lives on the opposite coast in California. He has had to raise his younger sister after his parents tragically died. He makes it work, thanks to his dedication and glassblowing skills. But when another tragedy shakes his life, he decides to accept Quinn’s invitation to visit her and consider working with her at the Ornament Company. And yes, his Great-Great Grandfather was the original glassblower, which leads to some secrets.

This charming book features everything we love about Christmas, especially a Hallmark Christmas. A small town, a large loving family, events such as the Reindeer Ruckus and an eggnog competition gift us the magic of the holidays and warm our hearts.

Speaking of warm hearts, Quinn and Nolan are sweet as they navigate a business relationship and a growing love for each other. He admires her love of town and family and commitment to her dream. She is captivated by his good looks, strength of character and artistic talents.

The story ends with a beautiful scene as the “heart of Christmas” is revealed. No surprises in this book, but there are plenty of loveable characters and events, including the antics of two spunky horses. And there’s a recipe for Cranberry Walnut Bread with Orange Glaze. (Hey, how about one for Grandma’s special egg nog?)

Although I appreciate Hallmark books and movies because of their sweet values, I do wish we had been treated to a real kiss between Quin and Nolan. Happy Holidays! Thanks to Net Galley and Hallmark Publishing for an ARC. This is my honest opinion.

I am not the one who celebrates Christmas, but there is something about these Christmassy reads that fill the empty place in my heart that I didn't know I had. This book by Jill Monroe was one such cute one which had love, secrets, happiness, warmth, betrayal, hope, and most important of all — forgiveness

Quinn and Nolan's journey towards reaching their goal and finding love. Quinn wanted to restart her forefathers' company of making Christmas ornaments, and Nolan, the glass artist, had just survived a bad fire which destroyed his house and work. Both came together to restart the company, but one of them had a secret.

Jill Monroe was brilliant in weaving warmth in her words. There was joy in every action of Quinn to celebrate Christmas, it made me long to celebrate with her. Quinn was passionate, bold, with so many dreams in her heart. I loved the excitement in her voice. Nolan took time to open up and it was nice to see him falling in love with her in every page.

The story was formulaic as in every love story, but Jill's writing brought in the magic of Christmas and made me count the days. Romance, secrets, betrayal, forgiveness made the rest of the story but what touched my heart was Quinn's family. They were loud, boisterous, but their heart was so big that even I was pulled in.

I enjoyed this wholesome and family-friendly story. Quinn and Nolan were likeable characters and their character development began from each one's point of introduction. I liked that we weren't kept guessing about ulterior motives--it was all known to us, the readers. They are decent and hard-working people who come together with a common interest in restarting the Hardwick Ornament Company, but Quinn doesn't know that Nolan's interest is more than just as a hired artisan. The secondary characters are the best types of family and small-town dwellers; I love how people are in each other's pockets and nothing is private about their personal lives. The story is told with good humor and only a little angst. I recommend it for all readers who will appreciate a clean and relaxing getaway to a life-affirming small town.

This is Quinn's starting over. Rebuilding her family's old Hardwick Ornament Company. Now all she needs is a glass-blower to create the stunning designs that everyone has come to love and expect.

Nolan has lost everything. A fire not only injured him but also left him without a place to work. When a will comes to light that he is the owner of Hardwick Ornament Company, Nolan travels to see his new property and maybe start over.

But heads collide when he becomes the answer to Quinn's prayer. He's a famous glass-blower and she still thinks that this is her company.

This is book is recommended for everyone. Like all Hallmark content, this story is appropriate for all readers.

Quinn Hardwick is one of the many Hardwicks of her generation, but the only one gifted with the connection to the family business: Hardwick Ornament Company, whose line featured hand-blown glass ornaments from its inception. Bequeathed the company, family farm house and outbuildings. But the company was shuttered in the 1960’s, and since she inherited Quinn has spent every penny in her vision, cleaning, planning and hoping to make a new start.

Nolan Vesser is one in a long line of glass blowers, it was his ancestor Milos who, with the first Hardwick, combined skills and vision to start the company. Through the years, Nolan’s family has always blown glass, in fact he learned at his father’s right hand as a child, moving to taking over the family’s business when his parents died, and he took responsibility for raising and supporting his sister. Now with his own reputation as an artisan who crafts quality pieces, a fire that destroyed his shop and apartment have left him at loose ends. An offer from Quinn to join the HOC comes at the right time – for he’s in possession of the deed to the company, and perhaps this will be a place for a new start.

This was cute, if one can get past Nolan’s big secret and his absolute inability to be honest with Quinn from the start. Sure there is an attraction, and he’s experiencing emotions and a connection to the place that he never thought he was capable of, but the dishonesty, and his very understandable phobia about fire after his own losses back in California made for some interesting times. With the Hardwicks being all kinds of welcoming, with that pushy, in your face edge, and Quinn’s rather immature, if refreshingly naïve, approach to their partnership and the business as a whole, the conclusion is foreshadowed but still rather lovely in the concept. Better suited, I think, to the actual film version than the writing as the glass descriptions didn’t quite stimulate visual imagery, the story was an easy, clean and sparkly read for the holidays.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Quinn Hardwick's grandpa has passed away and she has inherited the Hardwick Ornament Company. She is excited to bring it back to life and has sunk all her savings into material, supplies and renovations. When she hires glassblower and designer Nolan Vesser to make the ornaments for her, she is sure everything will work out. It was Nolan's great-grandfather who used to design for the company years ago. Nolan accepts the job as his workshop and apartment have been destroyed in a fire and he has nowhere to go. When he finds a paper signed by Quinn's and his great-grandad's he knows he is going to make a go of this company, but can he keep it a secret from Quinn?

I loved Quinn's character. She wants to bring her family's dream back to life and works hard to do just that. Nolan is a bit lost. He has lost the spark to design and it takes spending time with Quinn to bring that light back into his eye and heart. This book has everything I love about Christmas. There is a small town, helpful and nosy neighbours, a wonderful family who love to tease each other, Christmas events like tree lighting, sleigh rides and contests (Eggnog making in this one) and of course romance. No romance goes smoothly, so there is some angst that involves trust and forgiveness. Throw in some Christmas magic and you have a delightful Holiday Story. Just what I would expect from Hallmark.

I would give this book 2.5 stars if I could. I enjoyed the setting and the glass-blowing ornament company backdrop, but this book never really takes off. I felt like the same scene and conversation was repeated over and over until the end. The final conclusion only lasted a few pages, and I believe that could have taken more pages and been more detailed. I love the ornament that Nolan made as a way to show his love, but other than that, the ending was predictable and too short.

I needed something light and fluffy to unwind with during this hectic holiday season and this cute little Christmasy romance book was the perfect choice.
When a book starts out with a man saving a dog from a building going up in flames then I am immediately sucked in.

Highly recommended!

At the Heart of Christmas is a charming romance. The main characters are likable and the quirky relatives add humor and wisdom to the story. Quinn and Nolan make a great couple who eventually get their HEA. The plot has some interesting twists. The dialogue is natural. I was interested in the glass-blowing process that's explained through one light-hearted scene. This is a great book to enjoy over the holidays or really, any time at all. I received an ARC. I chose to write a review and share my opinion.

A Sigh-Worthy Romance from Hallmark!

Author Jill Monroe has given us a sigh-worthy romance set in a Christmas backdrop that is so beautiful it ought to be on a Hallmark card. Quinn Hardwick has dreamed of restoring the Hardwick Ornament Company ever since she was a little girl. Now that she’s inherited the property, she’s ready to make her dreams come true. She’s certain she’s on the right path when she hires Nolan Vesser, a master glass blower and grandson of the man who worked alongside her own grandfather back in the ornament company’s heyday. But Nolan has his own secret agenda, one that threatens to undermine everything Quinn has worked for. At The Heart of Christmas is a touching story of forgiveness and redemption as Quinn and Nolan overcome real obstacles, fall in love and find their happy-ever-after.

Thank you Hallmark Publishing and NetGalley for providing an ARC copy of this book. This is my honest opinion.

Great Christmas Love Story:

This was a great Christmas love story about two people that meet out of convenience and form a bond for one another! The main characters are Quinn Hardwick and Nolan Vesser who both want to start the Hardwick ornament company because they both think they own it! In reality only Nolan owns it, but after meeting Quinn falls madly in love with her and tries to change the ownership of his deed; however miscommunication changes that idea and he has to find a way to prove his love to Quinn! To find out everything that happens in this love story that is hard to put down read it and check it for yourself!

So, this is a Hallmark story, so you can pretty much guess what you’re getting. It’s adorably sweet, suitable for all ages, and pretty low angst. All in all, if you’re in the mood for a comforting holiday read, this will fit the bill!

“Your family big on Christmas, then?”
Now it became her turn to laugh. “At the Hardwick Ornament Company, Christmas doesn’t just come once a year. It’s a way of life.”

After the death of her grandfather, Quinn has inherited the family Hardwick Ornament Company, once famous for its beautiful handblown glass ornaments, but shuttered after no one in her parents’ generation wished to continue it. Growing up with her grandad’s stories, she’s eager to relaunch the company and turn the farm where it’s located into a tourist destination. Just one problem – while she’s talented at problem solving and business matters, she has no creative talent. Enter Nolan. With both his apartment and studio lost in a fire, relocating to the other side of the country to work at the same company his great-grandfather designed ornaments for seems like a good idea – even more so when he discovers old paperwork revealing that he is actually the real owner of the company. Problem is, Quinn isn’t the rich businesswoman he expects, but someone who’s both sentimental about the family company and driven to make it succeed. Will realizing Nolan’s dreams of following in his family’s footsteps crush Quinn’s?

“Nothing had prepared him for Quinn Hardwick. She grabbed risk with both hands and blew away caution like the seeds of a dandelion. She worked from the moment the sun rose to well past it setting. Quinn had invited him into her world, shared her plans and her hopes, and he’d caught her contagious enthusiasm. She cared about everyone around her, and that included him.”

Nolan’s a bit of the classic Christmas grinch. Since the death of his parents, he’s been too busy taking care of his sister to do much other than work, and he avoids getting too close to people. So it’s a surprise to him when Quinn seems to worm her way past his defenses and into his heart, and even more of a surprise that he doesn’t seem to mind. Quinn is compassionate and hardworking, and like the rest of Bethany Springs, she looooves Christmas, and she’s excited to share that joy with Nolan. She’s also excited about the possible attraction between them, though Nolan seems to be holding back, both from work and from her. I found the descriptions of Nolan’s anxiety after the fire very realistic, though it did seem to take Quinn quite a long time before she realized what was happening with him. I also liked that Nolan realized that he couldn’t possibly have a relationship with Quinn with the whole ownership of the company up in the air. They were quite sweet together, however, and I also loved Nolan’s reactions to Quinn’s boisterous and Christmas-loving family.

As for everything else, the story’s plot is, well, very predictable, while extolling the virtues of small town living, family, and the Christmas spirit. The main conflict in the book is Nolan’s deed to to company, and, well, besides Nolan’s attempts to get past the anxiety being around fire causes him, it’s actually the only conflict in the book. It’s hard, though, to get too worked up about it, as it’s such a cozy and enjoyable read due to Quinn’s quirky family. There’s a lot in here about glassblowing, which isn’t something I was familiar with, but the author managed to make it quite interesting and informative without feeling like I’d wandered into Glass Blowing 101.

Overall, this is perfect if you’re in the mood for a cozy and comfy holiday read, full of Christmas spirit and a big warm family!

Reading this book felt like I was learning something new, remembering dreams, and feeling nostalgia about home. The author certainly did her research to capture the steps, tools, and procedures that go into glass-blowing. I've always wondered what went into making such beautiful colors and designs, and I felt like I was right in the room with Quinn and Nolan thanks to the sights and sounds. Beautiful descriptions! I also found Nolan's struggle to return to his passion after the fire very relatable as sometimes we go through trials that put our passions on the line. This struggle made his character come alive. Also, Quinn's persistence in wanting to achieve her dreams for her family's ornament company was inspiring, and what a work ethic!

Another big highlight was the town of Bethany Springs being located in Massachusetts, my home state. As a born and bred New Englander, the references to the Berkshires, our interesting winters, and more were done justice. Sometimes it's fun to enjoy a story that takes place in your state! I wish we saw more of the town's locals, though. The scenes felt a little too brief to me. Yet the town's festivities before Christmas were a delight and reminded me of why I've enjoyed reading Hallmark books.

Yet despite all these things, there was something...missing. The love, for me, didn't really bloom between Quinn and Nolan until halfway through the book. I also felt the issue of the deed was dragged on a little too long. There could have been a small series of problems hindering the relationship, but the deed was the main one and only went so far. The heart for this story was certainly there as the story got better after the sleigh ride and the Reindeer Ruckus, but the magic...missed a key ingredient. I'm just not sure what exactly.

As for the characters, I adored Gram, Quinn's grandmother. Her seasonal outfits reminded me of my late grandmother's love of the holidays. Again, another moment of nostalgia. Quinn and Nolan characters were also wonderful, but again, the romance part was tricky for me. The horses were a hoot and made for some humorous moments that helped develop Nolan's character along with showcasing Quinn more. I need to give a shout out to the prologue, too, because I think that helped introduce me to Quinn and get interested in the story.

Either way, the book gets 4 stars because I still loved it. I'm sure others will enjoy it too.

At the Heart of Christmas, by Jill Monroe, is a delightful story set in the fictional small town of Bethany Springs, Massachusetts. Quinn Hardwick inherited the old family farm along with the defunct Hardwick Ornament Company when her beloved grandfather died. She is inspired to bring the company back to life. She sells her big city condo, resigns from her travel agent job, and moves to the farm. She is now on the old family homestead, close to her entire family. Quinn is moving towards her goal of restoring the family business.

Meanwhile, glass artist Nolan Vesser, has just experienced a severe setback when the building in which his business and apartment, along with other apartments and businesses, is destroyed by fire and Nolan is seriously injured while rescuing the neighbor boys’ dog. While looking for his insurance policy while recuperating with his sister, Katelyn, they discover a deed that had been given to their grandfather for ownership of Hardwick Ornament Company. When Nolan goes online to research the company he finds the new website created by Quinn’s Gram. He contacts Quinn who is thrilled to hear from an accomplished glass blower and one who has family roots with the company. As Nolan is at loose ends, he accepts Quinn’s offer of a job, puts the few belongings he has left into his truck, and makes the coast to coast trip from California to Massachusetts. Initially, Nolan makes no claims on the business.

As Quinn shares her hopes and dreams with Nolan, and as Nolan gets invested in her vision, he tells his attorney sister Katelyn to put the old deed away. But with the poor cell service, that is not what she hears and she files the deed before leaving on her Christmas ski trip, sending things awry.

This is a lovely story with a holiday focus, but the real message is about family closeness, pursuit of dreams, and finding someone who shares your vision of the future. I definitely enjoyed this book and I do recommend it!

At the Heart of Christmas by Jill Monroe is the book equivalent of wearing fuzzy socks, sipping hot cocoa, and texting your best friend, “I KNOW where this is going and I do not care at all.” It’s predictable, it’s cozy, it’s cheesy in the best Hallmark-movie-that-actually-works kind of way, and I ate it up like I was on a sugar high.

So here’s the gossip: Quinn McCallan, talented designer and all-around holiday queen, gets dragged back to her hometown of — wait for it — Christmas Cove. Yes, that’s the actual name and yes, I cackled. But listen, she’s not there for mistletoe selfies; her family’s ornament company is in trouble, and she’s going to save it. Enter Nolan Drake: hot CEO, heir to the rival family business, and walking tension headache. These two? Flirt like they’re sword fighting with candy canes. Every meeting is a showdown that made me want to throw popcorn at them and yell, “Just kiss already!”

Let’s talk characters. Quinn? Love her. She’s smart, ambitious, but soft around the edges in that I could totally bake with you and cry about life kind of way. Nolan? Oh boy. He’s got that whole “grumpy businessman with secret cinnamon roll vibes” going on. Probably smells like cedar and expensive bourbon. And the town? Christmas Cove is peak small-town holiday movie nonsense — tree lightings, cookie exchanges, townspeople who live for other people’s drama. I wanted to book a fictional Airbnb immediately.

Trope watch? Oh, they’re all here: rivals-to-lovers, small-town magic, family legacy drama, forced proximity, and a heavy sprinkle of Oh no, there’s only one ornament factory and we both need it! Did I guess the ending? Girl. Before I hit chapter two. Did I love every second anyway? Absolutely.

Final verdict: 4.5 stars of pure holiday serotonin. It’s cozy, it’s swoony, and if this doesn’t make you want to put up twinkle lights in every room of your house, you might be a Grinch.

I fell in love with At the Heart of Christmas from the first page… and I also grew to admire two people who could be the answer to each other of everything they ever dreamed possible – or the worst nightmare situation imaginable.

Nolan and Quinn’s family once created the most beautiful Christmas ornaments. Now Quinn is giving everything she has money, time, love and devotion to bringing that company back to life. Hiring Nolan, a gifted glassblower himself, just like his ancestor, would be the perfect combination once again to get Hardwick Ornament Company up and running once again. Unknown to Quinn is one small, important fact – Nolan has a secret that could change absolutely everything. And as they begin working together, and perhaps falling in love during this magical time of year that secret could shatter dreams and futures.

At the Heart of Christmas has everything that defines a really good Christmas Romance for me. That magical time of year when anything is possible, two people who belong together but have some issues or obstacles to overcome… and interesting secondary characters that bring it all to life. I love small towns with all their quirks and special events unique to only them. You’ll laugh out loud at times, get a bit misty eyed, and hope that love can in fact overcome anything. I loved Quinn and Nolan’s story, and if you also love a good Christmas Romance then you’ll want to pick this one up. I know I’ll be re-reading this come next Christmas, that’s what a good Christmas story should do – make me want to experience it again.

Because this is a Hallmark published novel there is no sex and no cursing in this book. If you don't prefer those things in a book you do not have to worry.

At The Heart Of Christmas reads like a Hallmark Christmas movie and that is a total compliment – it is everything a person could want in a holiday story. If you love a sweet happily ever after, you're going to love this book.

Quinn Hardwick's goal in life is to bring her family's ornament factory back to it's former glory. Nolan Vesser has lost everything in his life but his sister, so when the chance to help revitalize the blown-glass ornament company that his ancestors helped create, he jumps at the chance and moves to Bethany Springs, Massachusetts. Nolan arrives with a secret but as he grows more and more fond of Quinn and of the entire town of Bethany Springs, his vision for the future also starts to change.

Nolan was such a great book hero. He was damaged and imperfect, and I didn't love that he kept secrets from Quinn, but there was no denying that he was a seriously good guy despite that. Quinn's love for her family, her town, and for the business that she had inherited was really beautiful. I loved everything about the way that Quinn integrated Nolan into her life and into the town, and the way that Nolan embraced them all despite the fact that he had suffered so much heartbreak and didn't want to open himself up again. The grand gesture was perfect and wonderful and gave me the warm-fuzzy feeling that is exactly the reason I read books like this one.

I also was seriously jealous of the traditions Bethany Springs has. I loved how the author included them in a way that added so much to the story without overwhelming it. I want to move to Bethany Springs!

A 2018 Favorite!

Hiring him could be her best idea. Or her worst mistake.

Don’t you just love it when a story grabs your heart, refusing to let go? That’s what this Hallmark Christmas romance does, so open your heart and enjoy a rich, sentimental tale by Jill Monroe!

At the Heart of Christmas packages up heart, tradition, and favorite places and ties them together with a ribbon of love. What a treat!

I love the alternating points of view between Nolan Vesser and Quinn Hardwick, and how the characters’ backstories blend lightly and seamlessly into the story. Nolan has a silent charm and a teasing yet humble heart, and Quinn is a slightly awkward yet heartwarming dreamer. I’m still smiling from the fun initial meeting between this idealist and artist, and yearn for their story to continue. So dreamy!

The prologue quickly gives a glimpse into Quinn’s upbringing and inspiration and the first chapter’s action gets a heart to pounding! It only takes a moment to get the full taste of each character and to seize your sympathies.

I love everything about this story and the history and future of the Hardwick Ornament Company.

Jill Monroe is a gifted storyteller. She has introduced me to compassionate characters that feel like old friends. The air of familiarity makes me feel part of Bethany Springs, and I desperately want to visit again.

This is another Hallmark hit and a 2018 Favorite! I love this town. I love this spirit of Christmas. And I love this love.

A novel not only for Christmas
Jill Monroe, an international best-selling author, presents "At the Heart of Christmas" which was published by Hallmark Publishing. It takes place in Bethany, Massachusetts and talks about the Hardwick Ornament Company that meant everything to the Hardwicks and the Vessers. Quinn Hardwick is listed in her grandfather's will as the owner of the Hardwick Ornament company and wants to resurrect it. Nolan Veeser loses his apartment and his workshop in a fire but discovers a deed in a lockbox for the same company. While Quinn works to reestablish the company in Nolan's presence he keeps the secret . What will happen when it comes to light?
"At the Heart of Christmas" was the first book by Jill Monroe which I read. I really appreciated it and recommend it. The book is not only about Christmas but also about relationships, secrets, legacy, and forgiveness. It is a clean and wholesome novella with great characters and contains a good story line with some mystery included.
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

At the Heart of Christmas by Jill Monroe, a heartwarming story that oozes with charm, is a real page turner. I felt every emotion that the characters felt.

When Quinn Hardwick inherits her grandfather’s farm and workshop, she wants to revive her family legacy by reopening the Hardwick Ornament Company. She hires Nolan Vesser, the great-great grandson of the man who blew glass for Quinn’s great-great grandfather. When the company shut down in the 1960s, the two families went their own ways. When Nolan enters the picture, he discovers that he is the true hier to the Hardwick Ornament Company. He agrees to work for Quinn but under the guise of either selling the company back to Quinn believing she is rich or taking ownership for himself to re-establish himself because he lost everything in a fire. He did not count on what would happen next. You’ll have to read this heartwarming story to find out what happens.

Monroe does a great job with creating details that bring the reader into the story. I could visualize this quaint little town as if I was standing right there with Quinn and Nolan. You can also feel the tension the details create between these two characters. The story is inspirational with a hint of humor.

AT THE HEART OF CHRISTMAS Jill Monroe
Hardwick Ornamental Company use to do a thriving business, now doors only opened to the family a few times a year. His granddaughter Quinn asks, what it takes to run a place like this, saying,’a dream has to live inside you’. Asking if she was a dreamer, replying that she was, and maybe it would open again. He left it to her, now she is a travel agent. Dreams, and ideas she did have, and maybe a mini museum of the old attic items. The key is to find an expert glass blower, and one that would want to relocate. Nolan Vesser, watch-ing as the fire, took his studio, projects and tools, he used, Hardwick and Vesser, these two families had worked together making ornaments till they closed. the business. Now these two planned on starting small, and build up, making ornaments once again. Beautiful story of dreams, treasuring what was of their heritage. Touching moment when the first ornament was revealed, and the special one he gave to her. This was a special story that will touch you as one reads. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

Quinn believes she has inherited the family ornament business and is make the company great again. Hiring Nolan, a glass blower, whose family once worked alongside the Hardwicks, she has no idea of the secret he carries that could cause her dreams to come crashing to the ground.
This book is sweet romance about love and forgiveness, how secrets have a way of being found out. Quinn is a gorgeous character whose determination to succeed comes through everything she does. She watches You Tube how to video in order to be able to save money repairing the workshop. Nolan, on the other hand, needs a boot up his backside. He allows Quinn to spend money she does not have to start up the ornament workshop, when he knows he could ruin her dreams. However if he told her straight off, then you would not have a story, two people falling in love over a shared interest in bringing back beautiful glass Christmas ornaments from the Hardwick factory to people. I adored Quinn's crazy family and their obsession over whether one of her cousins would receive a marriage proposal over Christmas. Everyone needs a close family like that!!
I voluntarily agreed to read an advanced copy of this book.

4.5 stars Clean, sweet story

I enjoyed this book. It was well written and a sweet story that encompasses love and forgiveness. I liked the main characters although I did get a little irked with Nolan for not being straight forward earlier. I recognize that it was the conflict of the story but I felt like it went on just a little too long so there was just a little drag in there.

I enjoyed Quinn's family and the small town surrounding her. Gram made me want to go out and get fun earrings.

Since this is Hallmark we know from the beginning that it will be a HEA ending but the path to the end was a little different from what I anticipated so it was enjoyable to see how the path would wind around to get to the end goal.

Sex: nope
Language: nope
Violence: nope
Its Hallmark.

I received an advance copy of this book and voluntarily chose to write an honest review.

At the Heart of Christmas is an easy, festive read. Truth is I wasn’t swept away by the storyline, but it was sweet and entertaining. I liked how Quinn and Nolan became closer, step by step, pondering all the pros and cons of mixing business and pleasure (let alone Nolan’s potentially explosive secret). There’s a lot of inner thinking in the text because the characters go through their own emotional issues, and I appreciated that the author didn’t rush things for the romance part. It felt more authentic that way.

It was a nice touch that Quinn and Nolan are trying to bring back to life the legacy family business formed between their two clans generations ago. Family is a strong stream in Hallmark books and it never fails to touch your heart. Even though I felt like sometimes the plot was advancing at too slow a pace, I think it’s a pleasant feel good story to indulge in during the holidays.

Book 105 of 2021

I feel kind of bad. This was a Hallmark Publishing Christmas book, so I knew what to expect— and it’s what I got. A nice, cheesy holiday romance. I loved the idea of an ornament company through the generations, and I love any book that includes glass blowing because I am so intrigued with this craft. But there was still something missing with Nolan and Quinn, I can’t quite put my finger on it. I think I’ve read other “cheesy Christmas” romances that I love that just feel like there is more depth. I think the lack of detail is part of the problem. I felt that the story stayed surface level, so I was missing of the key elements to help it rise up. So when I compare it to other books, I had to give it three stars. Was it a bad book? Not at all, I’m glad I read it. I just think that what it lacks is revealed when compared to other books in the same category, especially ones I’ve already gobbled up this holiday season.

Rating— three and a half stars
Format— audiobook

Thanks to Netgalley for giving me this book to read in exchange for an honest review. No compensation was given, offered, or taken to alter the opinion.

At the Heart of Christmas shows us that Christmastime is all about love and forgiveness. It can also be a great time for new beginnings. I thought this was a sweet and heartwarming story. I would love to see all the ornaments that Quinn and Nolan end up creating together! Maybe this year Hallmark will release some of Quinn and Nolan's ornaments along with their other Christmas ornaments... I would totally buy one! This story is one of the more recent Hallmark books that doesn't have a movie accompanying it, which is great for allowing readers to picture the characters and setting the way they want. At the Heart of Christmas can be enjoyed by readers of multiple ages! Go get yourself a copy!
