After the ghoul attack and overwhelming trouble, Soraya Devil needs a break. She’s trying to save everyone from the darkness swirling around her when she goes into hermit mode. But she’s the Enchantress and the world needs her, so she can’t take the time she needs.
Worried for her coven after the beating they took as well, she resurfaces to handle a situation with some Russian hawks, piles of everything from the companies, ending her ties with the ancient nest, and taking a shot back at the enchanter elders… And that was just in one night. Is it really any wonder that she’s tired and wants a holiday?
But when the ripples of her erasing a greater demon reach further than she could have guessed, she faces jumping into the next rabbit hole or a worse option coming to her door later. She does what she thinks is best for those she cares about, but when you’re a thousand years old, traversing new waters is terrifying for even the Enchantress.
Erin is a born Chicagoan who decided to state hop a bit, given she works from home. She currently resides in Georgia with her pup, Lord Vader Flynn. With an eclectic and addictive personality, there isn’t much that doesn’t interest her or she won’t pour herself into if it catches her fancy. She has always been interested in the darker aspects of life and mythologies—especially vampires, shifters, the occult, and anything paranormal.
To date, she has published more paranormal books than she can keep up with the characters for, in different genres with dedicated readers who await each release to her numerous series under any of the three Flynn names she writes.
The female main character is a fierce multitasking woman anything that she writes is so fantastic and I just can't even fathom how her brain works but it's amazing and I appreciate it greatly because I cannot put her books down
★☆☆☆☆ (1.5 / 5) – The Enchantress (Book 3) by Erin R. Flynn
Another miss, unfortunately.
Book 3 really dropped the ball again. It’s noticeably shorter, and instead of moving the story forward, it somehow goes backward - especially when it comes to the 'romance.' The flashback chapter with Soraya and Rue was sad, sure, but it still fell flat. For a supposed mother-daughter moment, it read more like two friends catching up. There just wasn’t enough emotional weight to sell that bond.
Characters: Soraya – Still as frustrating as ever. One moment she’s all about setting boundaries, the next she’s throwing them out the window. The constant back-and-forth isn’t engaging - it’s exhausting. She’s supposed to be The Enchantress, an ancient and powerful being, yet she acts like a confused teenager. It’s tragic to see such wasted potential.
Detective Hunt – Why does this man keep getting rewarded? After all the betrayal and awful behavior in books 1, 2 and 3, he somehow still gets the girl? Seriously? That alone almost made me DNF the book. He’s toxic, unredeemable, and completely undeserving of the FMC’s attention. There’s no redemption arc big enough for this guy.
Theo – What even was the point of him? After being built up, he’s suddenly paired off with someone else without any buildup or payoff. If he circles back later with some drama involving his “new baby momma,” I swear I’ll lose it. And Soraya getting upset about it? Girl, you set those rules.
Victor & Andrew – Ancient vampires, endless disappointment. Victor had potential but turned into a pump-and-dump-chump. Andrew has major “second child syndrome.” All the time Soraya spent dealing with vampire politics, adjusting hexes, setting boundaries - just for it all to unravel again a chapter later? Maddening.
Brax – Terrible introduction. Zero explanation, just poof - an angel appears. How has Soraya lived this long and is only now meeting one? Make it make sense.
Honestly, at this point it’s not even my fault I dislike every male character in this series. The author writes them all as complete assholes. There’s not one to root for - not even the Boy Band of Hawk Shifters. Just… trash, all of them.
Final thoughts: This series is a merry-go-round of frustration - same patterns, same toxic relationships, same hair-pulling nonsense. I wanted to love it, but it’s exhausting watching a supposedly powerful heroine keep spinning her wheels with men who don’t deserve her.
I’ve decided to keep going...perseverance and what not - if only out of stubborn determination lol. I’ll see this series through to the end, even though it feels like a chore, which is frustrating because I normally adore Flynn’s writing. Unfortunately, the direction this series has taken is just so disappointing - it’s become a bit of a mess.
I can’t express how amazing this book was. I loved book one and two, obviously, but I think book three is the best so far. Each book is more addicting than the last. Erin is one of the only authors that can take me on this much of an emotional rollercoaster in the course of one book. From steamy scenes to sweet moments to utter betrayal within one entire book she managed to make me feel so many different things. She's an amazing author and the world she’s building is fantastic. I love how diverse the series is - and not just ”a token black person” or ”one gay person” - and it's done so effortlessly, as it should be. I’m extremely invested in Soraya’s relationship with Hunt, and I’m loving how it’s not a standard loving relationship, and I really can’t wait to see how things turn out. The supernatural element was amazing within this book, as more kinds of supernaturals made an appearance, and the main focus this time was something I love - ghosts/spirits and the veil. It was really interesting to see Soraya and her team tackle this, and with all the new people turning up I can’t help but think we’re gearing up for a fight. An absolutely amazing addition to the series and I’m extremely interested to see where it goes next. The bonus scene that we got was so intriguing and I absolutely adored learning about young Soraya (or Soree as she goes by), and it helps add to her character now.
Amazing lead character, kicking butt all over in a paranormal filled world. Well written characters and a magical world that is still very recognisable as ours. Although there is a lot more drama and angst than I would normally read, I find I am enjoying this series very much. Probably since she gets justice for those wronged, not some watered down legal result full of corruption. I am interested to see where the series ends, if it does. Maybe since she is immortal the series will continue for a long time yet. I usually stick to happy ever after love stories for escapism but this series is too intriguing not to keep going.
Another great installment, the twists and turns of Soraya's life is satisfyingly entertaining -- the plot twist with Hunt was a shocker, but wow the results are ... hard to say much without revealing to much, but suffices to say the book was another hook sunk deep and kept be reading to see what happens next! Very happy to stumble on the series late and avoid waiting for another release date!! Onto the next book!!!
I really liked this book! Cannot wait to read the next! How awesome is it that angels came asking for help then she managed to basically trick demons but be on neither side! Plus I knew Hunt was dodgy! Although he is acting more than a bit weird like there's a line and he's like flew over it. Looking forward to seeing where the next book takes them!
It's fast paced, interesting funny and sad. The Enchantress life is never boring. One complaint I have is she had 5 shifters from Russia with names like Taylor, Rick etc, it is very unlikely they would be named western names, not all 5 of them. You didn't you use Russian names but you used Japanese name for Japanese shifter? Why?
I enjoyed this series. Was disappointed that it’s not finished, but it’s been good. I did feel like I got lost in the details of her businesses and day to day details. Enough so that it detracts a little bit. I didn’t really get sucked into the story, so I wouldn’t call it a page turner. It was worth reading, but not sure I want to invest more time into future books.
Ah, no rest for a very weary enchanted as she fights for the oppressed and protects the weak. She works hard and plays hard. Her past is full of turmoil and sorrow and her present isn't much better.
This story has a main character who kicks butt. She is also driven to do a lot of good for the defenseless. A must read for those who like a strong heroine and romance.
Excellent story , suburb characters and wonderful settings. Another fantastic book by Erin Flynn, would recommend this book to anyone interested in sci-fi fantasy. Gary from , Barry now Devon uk.
From someone who COMPLETELY LOVES Erin's "Artemis University's" series this is my second favorite series of Erin's. Seriously love it and I hope there is more. I'm in love with all of our characters and how the series just sucks you right in.
A lot is happening yet nothing is progressing. Still it grabs your attention as you want to see things resolved. A lot of focus on food in this book, reminding me very strongly of the AU series.

Thoroughly recommend this author. All her series have strong characters & detailed plots. Genuinely cant put them down until I finish all the available books
I absolutely enjoyed this book and the story is very intriguing. The characters are great and it’s getting fast on my list of favourites. The next book is already on my kindle.
Soraya has her hands full again in this third book of the continuing series. I'm afraid you won’t be able to follow what’s going on without reading the preceding books, but I'm sure you'll enjoy them when you go to catch up!
After the ghoul attack and the aftermath, Soraya is tired and feeling dark. When she feels like that she often goes into hermit mode, when she emerges, there’s a lot to deal with. She has a kettle of hawks who need rescuing from Russia, a psychic who has been held hostage by her sister and the fallout from erasing a greater demon from existence all needing attention. On top of all that there’s a traitor in the coven that needs dealing with.
Along with the psychic she rescues, Soraya is helping the spirits trapped in the realm of the living to cross back through the veil. We learn more about the aspect of Soraya’s powers that deals with the spiritual realm during the course of the book and the extra chapter at the end also deals with this subject in her distant past.
We also see why Soraya always holds herself back from relationships, stating she never keeps the people in her life. She always needs to have multiple partners in her life because sex helps even out her energy levels when casting vast amounts of magic. This also helps her when it's time for people to move on because she has others to hold on to.
There's some cute stuff with the kids of the coven again, which I always enjoy. It’s nice to see it’s not all just smiting and sexing for Soraya and she does have a little bit of fun!
As always, this story rattles along at a good speed and is full of plot twists and confrontations between Soraya and people who need dealing with in a permanent way. It’s always entertaining.
This is a continuation series, so a new reader needs to start with book 1. I don't know, I really like the back story going on, and not the romance in this series. I feel like Soraya & Hunt are heading towards trouble, as it just doesn't resonate with me as relationship material. I feel like there's a lot of gaps or continuity issues in this book, that just make it harder to really appreciate the story as a whole. I definitely want to see where the plot leads, so will move on to book 4.
There is a really questionable scene where she plays with a 20 yr old virgin (with dub/con) as sort of a power play against the leader of his group. Keep in mind she’s over 1000 years old. EW!
There’s a chunk of the book where she takes her coven to Japan that seems almost identical to an event in the Artemis series. Which isn’t surprising since every series has basically the same h.
