The war carries on, spiraling out of control… Savage fighting rages from one end of the bay to the other as the still dangerous Corsairs, splinter into factions, each battling to see who will end up in ultimate control. Trapped in the middle of the bay on a little nub of an island, Jenn Lockhart and her shattered defenders can only watch helplessly, knowing full well that they will be the eventual prize. Their men will be murdered, their wounded thrown into the bay to drown, and their women brutally raped before being sold into slavery. And Jenn can do nothing. The battle has left them fearfully low on ammunition, and they have no way to cross the zombie-infested waters. Only Jillybean’s return gives them any hope—and yet this is the same woman who started the war in the first place. She is the reason for the bloated corpses, piled like old trash, and for the tears of the grieving and for the blood running like rivers into the bay. For the sake of the community, Mike, Stu and Jenn keep this a secret, but when the secret gets out, Jenn is forced to arrest Jillybean and become Queen in her place. Her first responsibility is to execute the woman she once loved.

What can I say? I've been hooked on these books since I opened the first one on my kindle. They are exceptionally well written. The characters will make you sit up & take notice & you will either be in awe of Jillybean or want to shake her really hard! What started with Jillybean as a small child has morphed into Jillybean as a young lady. Stu, Jenn & Mike have fought a hard battle with the Corsairs. In their minds they are incensed with Jillybean because they believed she betrayed them. The last few chapters almost broke my heart..😀
I love the narration the character voices carry over from the first two books, they are clear and distinct. The pace and tone of the narration match the actions and tone of the book. It was lovely to listen to.
This book picks up almost exactly as book two ends. There's a lot of action and intrigue happening. As always I am amazed by Jelly Beans ability to create weapons and other useful items out of items that seem to be of little use at first glance.
The book covers a short period of time, however the characters still managed to change and grow as they experience unusual circumstances and are forced to grow up very quickly.
I'm not sure what I was expecting from a story, but the direction it went in left me quite surprised. The ending in particular left me slightly stunned and amazed.
The whole series has been thrilling to listen to you and I highly recommend it.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.
Jillybean had blown up the Sea King, the second in command, and nine other Corsair ships with her bag of bombs. That she managed to escape by jumping overboard was a miracle. The war with the Corsairs involved most of this volume. One of the final battles was the Battle for Alcatraz where the leader of the Corsairs, the Black Captain believed to reside. Mistrust, jealousy, and anger fueled the relationships between Jillybean, Stu, Jenn, and Mike. Trust was a thing of the past, and the cause of the dead rested solely on the Queen’s shoulders. The Queen’s mantle shifted between Jillybean and Jenn several times depending on the situation, although the people religiously depended upon Jillybean. The remaining Corsairs, the Santas, and the Islanders were still in the bay, powerful forces against the Queen and her ambitious goals. In a shocking twist, Jillybean embraces the greater good, for her greater good.
Wow. Just wow. I don’t like giving spoilers but I will say I’m heartbroken by events in this book. It’s a damn good read. To make me feel what I’m feeling over fictional characters should let you know that the author sucks you in to his world of fiction & makes it your reality. Well done Mr. Meredith. Well done. This is a good book, but don’t take my word for it...READ IT!!
Another hit by Peter Meredith .The story just keeps getting better and better. 9 foot tall and super strong zombies isn't the only thing these survivors have to watch out for. Is Jillybean getting worse or better? That is for you to read and find out.Who will live and who will die now that is the question .?????
This entry in Peter Meredith's immense zombie series is spectacular. It feels fresh, like the rest of Generation Z, but at the same time captures the feeling of the Undead World again. Fair warning: there's no way you can read this without diving into the next one.
The story of Jillybean continues along with Jenn, Mike and Stu. Can they survive the Corsairs? Honestly can they survive Queen Jillybean? Read this awesome story to find out.
Always ready for more jillybean. Didn't really want to see 3 main characters go in one fell swoop. I guess them are the breaks. I don't believe she would carry a poison but something that would simulate death.
Characters are so well developed and the action just keeps coming non-stop. Jellybean is by far the best hero (?) I’ve ever read, and the imagination plus research that goes into the story is very impressive. Anxiously awaiting the next in the series.
Poor Jillybean, love her character, going to hate it when this series ends. It was bummer when Sadie, and hate this went blank on the military guy's name, died, both great characters. Good series.
A really good read. As always, the twists and turns never stop. I like all the characters. The plot development is so complicated that you ha e to pay attention. The ending is another cliffhanger. Makes you need to need to continue reading.
All Hail Queen Jillybean, but be prepared for the worst. The Zombies are bigger and scarier but the real threat now are the Corsairs. The Corsairs have no fear, no love and no wish to do other than rape and pillage, Can Jillybean rouse the rest of humanity to stand up to them? Wait and see.
I just don't know how much more my heart can take. Knowing that what I wanted to happen isn't good reading, I saw what had to happen unfold in page after page. It doesn't change the fact that the author writes likeable characters and not all of them make it...
I have loved the books in this series but once you killed off the the three characters that made the series for me you took away any desire I had to continue reading. Jillian “Jillybean” was only entertaining in contrast to them.
Oh Wow, okay that was a rough one. I hate to give any kind of spoilers but one thing I can say for sure is that I liked the younger version of Jillybean better! Still wanting all those missing years. I really am enjoying this story
This book just dragged along . I had to skip pages I got so bored . Jillybean's split personality is what this story came down to and it just wasn't that interesting
I love this story so much. At the end of the book I could only read a couple pages at a time because I knew something big was going to happen. I was not disappointed.
