I thought Road to freedom was really good it would be one I was excited to get my hands on and to see what was going to happen between these characters . This can be read as a standalone you can also get Road to Grace it's about the heroes sister and then Road to Peace shares a little bit of of his history as a young boy so I'd recommend Peace before Grace . Over all this was a good story with likable characters and to see some slimier faces can't wait to see what's next for the Dogs of fire . copy provided for honest review **************************************** hero= 8 heroine= 7 secondary characters= 8 Chemistry= 8 steam= 6 romance=6 humor=3 darkness level= 3 action=3 mystery=2 enjoyment=8 angst=4 story line= 9 Story ending=10 character development= 10 pacing=10 cover=10 stars=4 Is this part of a series = yes Can it be read as a standalone = yes but would suggest reading Book 6 and 7 first would I recommend this book= yes would I re read this book= yes would I read future books by this author= yes
This was a beautiful story, full of laughter and tears. I was all over the spectrum with this book. My emotions couldn't be contained, and I never knew what was coming next. The author filled this book with equal parts angst and humor. I would just get through a part that had me crying my eyes out, and then she'd have me laughing through the tears. It was wonderful!
Finch is just a guy....who had a crazy, mixed up childhood. He and his family went through things no child should even know about, much less experience. Don't get me wrong, there were some very good parts, but the bad parts were really bad. And they overshadowed the good parts to the extent that he still hasn't moved past them. He is one of those guys that wants to protect everyone around him, and part of that is holding in all of those emotions to avoid spewing it all over those that it would hurt, to the detriment of himself. It has molded him into the man that he is, which is amazing, for the most part.
Remington is just freaking hilarious! There is no other way to describe her. Her personality shines through with every interaction, and she seems to be the kind of girl that would be everyone's best friend. The life of the party. But underneath her humor, her liveliness, hides a little girl whose childhood, and even adult years have sucked! It seems that every choice she makes, every time she turns a corner, something bad happens, each time worse than the next. Until Finch. He seems to be everything she needs and wants in her life, but she is scared to take the leap, to trust that he isn't out to hurt her too.
This book is both riotously funny, and wretchedly sorrowful at times. A man with a horrific past, and a woman whose present doesn't look to be getting any better come together, even when it looks like nothing they do will keep them together. There was so much going on in this story, so many questions that kept poking at my brain throughout the entirety of the story. I couldn't help but keep reading until the end. There was something about it that just wouldn't let me put it down. I loved Finch, and Remington, and I loved them together. Their interactions were what makes for a good relationship, being able to laugh together, and that makes for a solid, fun, amazing story!
I laughed and laughed in this, the latest read in one of my favourite series, Dogs of Fire MC. I can’t believe it is the eighth book already. I couldn’t wait to dive into Remington and Finch’s story… Or should I say Tweety and Eeyore? *grins*
Rem and Finch had hooked up once and that ended up not being enough for either of them. Of course, Finch had some convincing to do… And those conversations were laced with hilarity as Rem hid behind humour to try to keep Finch at bay. Their banter and sexy back and forth added a lightheartedness to it that was a switch from some of the emotional powder kegs earlier in the series. Not to say that it wasn’t full of emotion too but a different flavour that suited this pair perfectly. And, of course, Finch was able to flex his protective muscles in only the way the Dogs of Fire can do…
Filled with old friends and some old enemies, this was a one-sitting read that I should have read slower - so I could savour it more! I hope there is more to come from this series/author because I can’t get enough!
Finch & Remi are a great couple (even tho they're both stubborn & some of their fights could be avoided by taking it down a notch) & quite perfect for each other. They're also suuuuuper steamy!
I loved the action & drama in this one, and that we get to see more of our Savannah chapter, too. Piper Davenport is another author that's aces at pulling together many, MANY connections throughout her stories/series. I love getting glimpses of characters met in other books, catching up w/ them, and being introduced to new ones I'll get to catch up w/ in the next books. She's right up there w/ Lani Lynn Vale, Kristen Ashley, and Rochelle Paige in the connected characters department for me! : )
I don't think that I will ever get tired of this series. Every story just gets you more and more hooked from start to finish.
Finch, oh man another character that I just wanted to hug and take away all of his pain. But from this pain he experienced and that he is keeping all inside, now he is someone that just wants to care and protect everyone around him. Remington, oh my word, what a hilarious character she was. But all of this is also a façade that she hides behind. But now she has someone that makes it all better, someone that takes away her pain. But can she trust this new feelings, can she trust that he is one that will be there, the one that wont hurt her but also the one that will love her.
I love these two characters together. Even though they went through so much in their lives they are the ones that took away each other's pain. This story was funny, but sad and heartbreaking and steamy sex scenes, but also so much more than what you would think it is. I loved reading about the previous characters and catching up with all their lives. Definitely one of my favourite Biker Series
This story was so exciting. The Dogs of Fire rode into save the day, to give others their freedom, to protect those they loved. We first met Remington, (can I just love this name for a gal) in Road to Grace. She was a member of the same Dance Conservatory.
What I found really interesting is that this story shows what a small world it can be. Finch, Grace's big brother, had met Remington a few years prior in Savannah. This makes the story even more fantastic. I got to visit with two of Dogs of Fire Chapters. I got to catch up with some terrific members of the clubs and their significant others.
Remington's troubles can continue after her issues in Road to Grace. Vitaly, the dancer, the man who attacked her, won't stop until he gets what he wants. Her mother won't stop until she controls her. The evil that touched her in Savannah grows, truths still to be revealed.
Making it all a magnificent story was the growing romance between Finch and Remington. Well it will be magnificent if Remington will stop fighting it. She needs to let love in. She needs to learn the meaning of trust. She needs to realize not everyone is her mother or her ex.
There is just so much filling the pages. Page after page I was in awe of the author's ability to weave and exciting, intense story. She brought a love story to life with all the passion and doubt to keep me sinking deeper into the story. I can't tell you how many times the author made me laugh. Remington is one of the most hilarious characters I have enjoyed reading about in a long time. Her one liners, her silly names for Finch, her mannerisms, her actions had me rolling on the floor. I can't tell you how many things I highlighted for when I need a quick pick me up.
And when you reach the end, you can join me in the count down to the next book. I hope there will be a next book. I am not beyond begging for the next book.
Romance genre: MC Series: Dogs of Fire Length: 220 pages
Plot: Remington and Finch had a one-night stand and then Remi moved on. But when they run into each other again, Finch wants to keep Remi - he wants more. But Remi is in danger, and she needs more than just keeping - she needs protecting.
Commentary: Remi has suffered an attack at the hands of a well-known ballet dancer. When she told her company about him, they fired her. He's still coming after her, and then there's the drama from her mama. Remi was so skittish though and so reluctant to ask for and accept help. That's going to be a problem if she's hanging out with the Dogs though - seems like nothing but trouble follows them, regardless of what kind of MC they are. I think that Remi was supposed to be a sort of bad-a$$ independent spunky female character - I'm not sure I really got that though. A little more on the annoying side. I'm not sure what I want, but I find it to be the same in all this author's books: the heroine is trying to be independent, but refuses all help even when she really needs it; she's annoyingly bitchy but she also lets the hero walk all over her and what she wants. It seems like there should be a better balance? I think I might have hit the end of the series (for me).
I absolutely love this series and those connected to it. Merrick “Finch” Lundy and Remington Charles (love their names and all the nicknames) had a one night stand two years ago. Merrick tried to contact her afterwards, but she shut him out. Unbeknownst to her she has become close friends with his sister Grace. When Rem is in trouble Merrick is surprised to find his sisters friend is the woman he never forgot. Will he be able to keep her safe or will she continue to run from him? It was nice catching up with a few of the couples from books set in both the Portland and Savannah chapters. I can’t wait for the next book in the Savannah chapter as I think we were left with some questions coming out of the Savannah Dogs of Fire. Overall this was a great read and I know I will read it again in the future.
I love this series. I always looks forward to the next one. I have reread them several times.
This is Remington (Eyore) and Merrick (Finch,Tweety) story. They had a one-night stand a few years ago. They reconnect when her ex tries to attack her. He knows she is his and will do anything to keep her. They start in Portland, then go to Savannah.
I really like reconnecting with the Savannah Chapter boys. When Remy is in danger, Finch vows to keep her safe. It's not so easy since she tends to run at any given moment.
Her books are around $4.99, which I wouldn't normally spend on a Kindle book, but in this case, I have and will in the future. I good investment.
We all talk about our book boyfriends but I love the women in this series and Remington fits right in. I love her sass and spunk even if it drives Finch crazy. These two are so made for each other. There is love, danger and a visit to Savannah! I feel like I'm coming home every time I return to the Dogs. If you're looking for a series with interconnecting characters I highly recommend this one and this book is a great addition to it.
Absolutely loved these two! Finch and Remi were hilarious! Lots of laughs and tons of action! I wish I had read a few more of the Savannah chapter books before this one, so if you're reading this that's something to keep in mind. The two series cross over.
Remi and Finch. Loved Remi - she is hilarious. Finch is the wonderful alpha-male we love. He is rather intense about some issues but its understandable considering what he went through as a kid with his mother. I actually grew to like Grace in this one and perhaps getting her brother's perspective helped.
What can I say... another amazing book in the Dogs of Fire MC series! Merrick " Finch" Lundy had a tough past to overcome, Remington is trying to live her dream by dancing in a ballet company. When she runs into Merrick again she thinks that they are done from their past but he has different ideas. Finch and Remington must work together to find love and overcome their pasts. Great ready for all the feels and heart-flutters of the rest of the series. This book as all the insta love that Piper is know for, action, steamy love scenes and we get to catch up with past characters.
Remington and Merrick are finding that fate won’t be denied no matter how much they want to fight it. Remi made a pact with the sexy as son Finch that they could have one night of passion which he turned around and broke by calling her the very next day. For two very long years she has tried to avoid memories of him and has been pitifully unsuccessful. Now she’s in trouble and when she turns to Grace for help she never expected that it would be Finch coming to her rescue. Finch wanted more of Remi from the get go but she was one stubborn miss and he was denied. Now that she has resurfaced and is in trouble no less there isn’t a snowball's chance in… she’s getting away again.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book

This book is another reason why Piper Davenport has earned her spot on my list of all time favorite, do not miss authors. I am always excited when I find her next book. The emotions she is able to bring out of you while you read her books shows her talent and this book is just another example of that. I experienced a whole range of emotions while reading this book, shock outrage, anger, laughter, angst, love and so much more. You get the romance with some angst, romance, and action to name a few.
Both of these characters hasn't had the best childhood ever. My heart broke for them especially Finch because I saw what it was like with his sisters story and my heart always went out to them. While Finch wants more with Remi and does whatever he has to in order to protect her and show her that he wants more, she fights it. She is so freaking hilarious but inside she is full of fear. She constantly keeps getting nailed by bad things happening and it makes her leery of anything with Finch but that man is determined to wear down her resistance but there is only so much a person can take.
Will they be able to keep Remi safe? Will she be able to cope with what happened and let Finch in? Will her family ruin any chance they could have?
This is a must read book!! The whole series is worth it for sure. One of my favorite things about Piper is that with each book we get to visit with our other favorite characters from previous books and look forward to new ones as well. I can't wait for more!!
Remington, aka Remi, is quite possibly the craziest heroine ever, and she kept me rolling throughout this story. She hooked up with Finch for one night, and even though it was the hottest night ever, she was determined it would never happen again, but fate had other things in store for them. See, she found herself in some danger, and he got involved, and this time, she wasn't getting away from him, although she did her best to keep going on the lamb. It drove me nuts how many times she disappeared, because of her stubbornness, as they were made for each other, and she knew it. Their sexy times lit the sheets on fire, and he had the patience of a saint when it came to her, that's for sure, as she was a hilarious handful, so their interactions kept me laughing until my stomach screamed in protest. There were also angst filled moments that made sense of her tendency to run, and had my eyes threatening to leak more than once. And to add to the chaos, there were twists of danger that made for fantastic f-bombs dropping moments as well. I absolutely love Piper Davenport's extremely gifted writing style that grips me cover to cover, and I hope there's still more Dogs of Fire MC to come out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
I've grown quite fond of the Dogs of Fire, and was eager to read Merrick aka Finch's story. This is the eight title in the branch of the series, and has equal parts angst, humor, drama and action.
For anyone familiar with the series, Finch is Grace's older brother, who recently became a fully patched member of the Dogs of Fire. For a lawyer at times he struggles to communicate effectively, and his need to protect is a bit over bearing, and confining. But his desire to protect and coddle, is completely understandable due to the events of his past.
Remington's outgoing persona hides a deep vulnerability. She hasn't had an easy life, with her fair share of loss and unwelcome occurrences. She lacks a filter at times, and that adds levity to a plot quite full of emotion, drama, and intrigue.
Their banter is fun, flirtatious and argumentative. Both Finch and Remington are quite stubborn, but the chemistry they share just oozes off the page. I felt some aspect of the plot were a bit underdeveloped but overall I still enjoyed Finch and Remington's story and look forward to seeing which of the Dogs will find their happy ever after next.
I loved that we got to see more of the Savannah chapter.
This is part of a series and to get the full impact that this read can give you, I do highly suggest reading the previous stories. The returning characters, previous happenings that are mentioned; it just makes sense not to be confused while you read. Merrick/Finch and Remington had a one night stand two years ago.. one that neither forgot. When Finch is one of the brothers called in when Grace needs help, seeing each other is a bit more than Remington can handle. For Finch this is just the perfect shot of getting a second chance, a more permanent chance if Finch has his way. For Remi, there are too many bad things going on, and the last thing she needs is Finch getting in the middle and clogging her mind, so she will fight and run as best as she can. But will Finch let her, or will he do whatever he can to make sure that she knows she belongs with him now?
This read had so many things going on, that it almost seemed like a bit too much. Giving us all the feels though; crying, shock, disgust, anger... it was all there. With some really good sexy time scenes, this was anything but boring. I give this 5 stars.
This book is full of emotion. Finch and Remi need each other like air but they promise each other only one night. Never have forgotten the other and when Remi has trouble, Finch will be the one to step in. Grace is hilarious and her relationship with Remi is awesome. This book has turns you won’t see coming and be prepared to laugh, cry and be amazed. Excellent storyline.
~~~~~~~~~~Tracy's ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review~~~~~~~~~~
Finch and Remi never knew a one night stand two years ago could turn into more. But when Remington's friend Grace calls in her brother Finch in to help she can't believe it's Merrick, the man she can't stop thinking of. Remi is so funny and I laughed out loud so many times. I loved her sense of humor. I loved how Finch also known as Tweety would never stop coming for his Eeyore. The two together are just a perfect amount of heat, passion, love, romance, MC, humor and danger. Yes there is lots of danger and I loved reading about favorite characters of this series. Highly recommend this book and series, although all books can be read as standalones, but why? LOL
Granted I'm fairly new to Piper Davenport's work, but so far seems something is always going on at the opening of the book that just grabs you.
Road To Freedom starts with Remington making a 911 call. And good grief the stuff this girl goes through. I'm glad I'm not her, although, Merrick/Finch is someone I wouldn't mind having for myself. I loved the other nicknames Remi kept calling Finch (several different cartoon bird names).
This is book 8 in the Dogs Of Fire series, if you're new to Piper like me, you may be wondering if these are all stand-alones. My opinion (cuz I'm currently reading out of order myself), yes, this can be a stand-alone. But from what I'm gathering so far, it might be more enjoyable reading in order. Don't get me wrong, characters do overlap, but Ms. Davenport give enough or presents in a way, I did not ever feel lost. I did wonder if certain character pairs had their own book, and hence more to their own story.
Irregardless, Piper Davenport is very quickly becoming a favorite author of mine.
This is the latest in the Dogs of Fire series, and it doesn't show signs of slowing down anytime soon. Merrick is a lawyer by day and a member of the Dogs every other minute of the day. 2 years ago, he had a little rendezvous that was supposed to be just a one night stand. Too bad his mind didn't get the memo. Remington wanted nothing more than to dance with a company, when she and her friend relocated to Portland, they thought they were well on their way until the problematic male lead crossed the line. In the aftermath, Merrick and Remi came face to face again only to realize that he was none other than her friend's brother. Theirs is a story of ups and downs and a long road to redemption and freedom.
Can I just say that the guy on the cover of this book is HAWT! He is definitely my Finch aka Merrick. I loved this book. Some of my favorite characters...Alamo and Jasmine make an appearance...which made me super happy. This book brings us back to a lot of people we lovers of Piper Davenport have met....Remington and Merrick the main characters we have previously met. Remington and Merrick are meant to be that is if he can get her on the same page. Poor Remi not...life deals her a bad hand but she keeps her sassy spirit and all Finch wants to do is protect her. This book is a wild ride and sexy fun. I absolutely adored the sweetness that Piper always adds to her romance. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
I loved the power play between Finch and Remi. Remi can handle her self against the Alpha male and beats him with plenty of sass.. Liked all the characters with in these novels, some more than others. The plot i like, because it keeps you on your tippy toes wondering what the hell is going on, more than anything. This novel not only shocks you, but sends your heart a blaze then makes you cry a river!! So very sad.. An important message, give blood, organize being a bone marrow donor and lets get saving some lives!
In my highlights from this novel, i have added it for all to see... there is a link to the website for more information, with a message from author. Please take the time to highlight it your self in this novel and help spread the fight against cancer.
I absolutely love this series and this book! What more could you ask for, a ballerina getting stalked and a knight in leather riding a Harley coming to her rescue. Remington is a girl after my own heart. She is sassy and doesn’t take crap from anyone. Then there is Finch it was only supposed to be a one night stand with Remington a couple of years ago, but he never forgot her. When he finds out that she was beat up and is being stalked he goes into uber alpha protective mode. But Rem as scared for what she feels for Finch and hightails it back to Savannah where she is surrounded by people she grew up with. He follows because the Dogs of Fire have a Savannah chapter also. It was fun catching up with the Savannah chapter. Trouble follows them to Savannah, will Rem get over her stubbornness and just let Finch in? I can’t wait for more of the series and the Savannah chapter!!
So I will admit that I am like a little kid at Christmas time when I see a Piper Davenport book appear on my Kindle, because I know that I am gonna be in for a treat. This book is the 8th book in the OG Dogs of Fire MC series and I absolutely loved it! In this book, we focus on Flinch and Remi! 1st off the names of the characters are great and 2nd these two are perfect for eachother. This book will give you all the feels and let me say some of these scenes, you will need a glass of ice water after. This book had the perfect mix of romance, drama, action and humor and it will keep your attention right until the very end! 5 stars for a wonderful story!
Remi is a ballerina hiding from her past. Finch is a lawyer and biker who wants to be more than a one night stand. These two meet again after a terrible incident with Remi at a ballet company she is working for. Finch and she reconnect and decide to try to find a way forward in this. It is good I have read some of the Savannah chapter books, as some of those couples were in this novel. I like the writing, but some of the mystery elements were way too rushed for me, and the ending was a little LOTR with many endings. I will continue this series but I’m probably going to take a break and come back to it later this year.
This is my first book by Piper and I loved her writing!
I am new to the MC romance genre, but I loved the story and the storyline. The characters were great. I loved Merrick hard and Remington was a sweetie. I feel like I need to go back and read more of this series now. I am sure there is stories for all the amazing characters in the book.
The only that I wasn't a fan of ....the sex scenes I did find myself skipping over them. Only because they were so detailed. I am not a prude by any means but the story was so good I don't feel like that many scenes were necessary.
This is Remington and Merricks (Finch or Tweety is you are Remi lol) story. They had a one-night stand a few years ago. Remy is a dancer with Merricks sister, until she is attacked. Merrick shows up to help and is shocked to see Remy. He has always known she was more than a one night stand and is determined to make her his. When Remy flees to Savannah, Merrick follows and we get to catch up with the Savannah chapter of the dogs.. I loved this book! Remy has been through so much and with Merricks help she can finally truly move on.
Remi has a guy knocking on her door that a few days before tried to rape her. She called 9 1 1 and text Grace. Grace got her boyfriend Flea and her brother Finch to come with her to get Remi.Finch makes it to her floor and sees Remi. She is the girl he had a one night stand with two years ago, but has never forgot. Remi is shocked to see him and learn that he is Grace’s brother. He is decided he won’t let her get away this time. Can they get on the same page and make everything work? Will a twisted psychopath keep them apart? Come take a ride and find out.
