Charlie Rhodes #3

The Werewolf Whoops

Rate this book
Charlie Rhodes is back on her feet and ready for action. Luckily for her, The Legacy Foundation officially has its first job in weeks and they’re on the hunt for… werewolves.

It seems two campers have gone missing, the campsite littered with strange animal prints. Charlie is excited for adventure but sometimes wishes are more dangerous than they seem.

After meeting a woman and her daughter in the woods – and getting a gander inside her head – Charlie finds she’s on two missions. She wants to find a werewolf and, even more, she wants to find out what makes the secretive Zoe Lake-Winters tick. There’s something about the woman that sends Charlie’s curiosity into overdrive… and that’s not always a good thing.

The Michigan woods are full of dark surprises and Charlie is in for a few herself. She’s hiding a secret, but so are many others, and some of those secrets are worth killing for.

This outing may be one for the record books, especially when multiple mysteries reveal themselves at one time. Survival isn’t always easy, but in this instance, it will be more difficult than Charlie ever imagined.

Sit back and enjoy the show, because the secrets are going to be flying fast and furious… and so is the danger.

When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail.
Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.

I LOVED it Charlie meets the Winter's family yay.

Jack had me thinking Charlie was a yo-yo in this one and it wasn't a good feeling that man is just hilarious I like her, but I shouldn't, I really like her but it's to complicated, omg I just can't live without her........ and through this all Jack eventually talked to Charlie, at some point, then he backed off, then he......... well you just need to read it but I loved the ending.

A great mystery I loved reading about Charlie, Jack and the gang, I really want to punch Laura but there has to be one in every crowd...lol and I loved having Zoe, Aric Sammy and trouble around for another adventure.

Charlie is recovered from her previous ordeal, although she is a bit worried about what Millie might know, she's excited to go on their next adventure. However, things with her and Jack are a bit strange. She's discovered how she feels about it, and isn't sure what to do with it. Also, when they get to their new place, she ends up meeting someone who seems to be similar to her, and she isn't sure what to do with that either.

This book was really good. It is probably my favorite of the series, so far! I enjoyed Charlie and Jack together in this, and I loved how it ended as well! I can't wait to read more. I also thought it was cool that Charlie found someone else who was similar to her, and that she had a bit of help with her powers. I'm a bit disappointed we still haven't figured out what she is yet though. I can't wait to find that out!

Mixed feelings on this one

This had the potential to be better, but the author introduced characters and events that probably occurred in a different series without even giving the reader the courtesy of knowing which series they’re from. I’ve noticed that she often does this. It would be better business to point your readers to these series with a footnote at the end rather than leave them confused. Additionally, Jack is really coming across as a creepy, stalker caveman. He’s not very likable in my opinion. The following was my favorite quote from the book:

“Crazy people look for werewolves. Scientists look for lycanthropes. Get it right.”

I start this review with a confession. I enjoyed the first two books but not enough to have continued to this one if I hadn’t already purchased it before I read the first two. That being said, I’m really glad that I did buy this one because in The Werewolf Whoops Amanda Lee finally finds her stride with this series and kicks it up into high gear.

This time the group is investigating an alleged werewolf attack. There is absolutely no reason to suspect a werewolf of being involved, but Chris, the group leader, is the master of wishful thinking. So, the team returns to Michigan to find out how two people disappeared in the woods after having their tent ripped up by something with claws. All of this appears to be an excuse to introduce Charlie to the characters from one of Lee’s other series, Covenant College. I have not read that series, but it was immediately clear that this family was “special”. Aric, who runs around in the woods naked, was almost certainly a werewolf, and Zoe, his wife, was something witchy. Their daughter was likely a combination of both. Charlie immediately gets pulled into their circle and has the opportunity to start learning a lot about her own powers and about the troubling world of the supernatural that forms the hidden foundations of Lee’s novels.

Lee’s decision to finally fully embrace the supernatural elements that gives this series promise. Charlie is a member of a very dangerous world that she knows nothing about. Her employers, the Legacy Foundation, are trying to investigate a very dangerous world that most of them don’t really believe exists. This novel gives me hope that Charlie, the Legacy Foundation, and the supernatural world are going to start overlapping in ways that pull the secrets out into the open.

There’s also a lot of solid personal interactions within the Legacy Foundation investigative team that adds a lot of flavor to the story. The interaction makes the characters come to life—some likeable and one definitely not.

The mystery is also pretty solid in this book as once again Charlie and her friends have to figure out what really happened in order to prove or disprove the involvement of the supernatural. The fact that we never believe that the supernatural have anything to do with the crime does not lesson the enjoyment of figuring out what actually happened to the young married couple who disappeared in the woods.

Crossover heaven as Charlie meets Zoe

Another fabulous crossover tale as The Legacy Foundation head into the wilds of Michigan's forests looking for a werewolf, er.. sorry Chris.. I meant a lycanthrope!!

A young couple, wed six months ago, Lisa and Ethan, have apparently disappeared in the woods. Searchers have found their campsite torn to shreds with wolf prints in the vicinity which Chris is determined to prove are not just common or garden wolves but something much more.

On checking the site Charlie meets Zoe and her daughter Sami who are also nosing around being as it's only a mile from their backyard. The ladies have a psychic flash and rifle through each others memories. It leaves Charlie with more questions than she can cope with and she's once again hiding from Jack as she tries to seek the answers to her own powers.

First Lisa and then Ethan turn up but was the attack really werewolves or was it just plain human evil? The combined forces of the Winter family and Charlie will have to deal with whatever it is without letting the Legacy Team in on the truth.

Team tension is running high as Laura throws herself at Jack and ignores his rebuffs. Hannah and Chris are still doey eyed when they think no one is looking. Charlie is sure Millie and Bernard are more than just colleagues. As Jack declares that work romances cause nothing but trouble will Charlie ever get her HEA?

This latest installment was very entertaining. Lee is following her trend of using Charlie and her band of ah-Interesting characters?—to introduce readers to her other series. This time we got Aric, Zoe and their daughter from the Covenant series.
The plot concerns a pair of disappearing campers whose campside is found ripped to shreds with no clue other than funny looking animal tracks. Chris of course immediately leaps to the conclusion that hey, Werewolf Alert! Funnily enough he is correct, although he ends up thinking the opposite. Since this takes place more in the Covenant universe, Charlie and the others really do find werewolves, even though none of the rest of the team finds this out. I still think Charlie does an intuitive leap on very slim evidence in figuring out who the villian actually is (Clue think conventional not supernatural). But it was a good story, nonetheless.
Spoiler Alert: Charlie and Jack finally admit their feelings for each other, although she is still hiding what she is from him. We don't learn much more about her origins though she does get a little bit of tutoring in controling her powers from Zoe. Zoe comes off as much more assertive than she did in the early series and we actually learn more about mage abilities.

Charlie gets to meet Zoe and Aric from Covenant College in this book

Jack up till now has always struck me as a bit of a tool, his temper and bad attitude towards Charlie annoys me especially all the blowing hot and cold. Aside from that I absolutely love Charlie, she's had a really hard life but hasn't let it sour her, she is a spontaneous character no sooner does she think of something than she is saying or doing it, not stopping to consider the consequences, even when it's life threatening. This episode takes us back to Michigan and into the woods where a newly married couple has disappeared leaving behind a slashed tent and lots of animal prints. Can anyone say Werewolf, this is where Charlie runs into Zoe and Aric they know all about the supernatural creatures out there being as they themselves are one. Aric is a Werewolf but he didn't attack the newlyweds and Zoe is a Mage her talents slightly similar to Charlie's so she is very excited to get to know them and learn whatever she can from them about where her skills may have come from. Lots of humour as usual an easy read. Very enjoyable.

Totally amazing!

This book had me transfixed and kept my attention throughout. I absolutely loved it.
This book follows the group as they head to Michigan where there has been a suspected werewolf sighting. A couple are missing while camping.
We meet Zoe and Eric Winters and their daughter Sami who were the main leads of the Covenant series. Although I haven't read those books i am familiar with then after reading reviews on Goodreads. Looks like I will be starting a new series soon lol.
Anyway I loved the couple and their daughter. They made me laugh so much.
This book explores Jack and Charlie relationship. We don't see much of the other members of the group as Charlie wants to explore her abilities and find some answers which Zoe helps her with.
The mystery surrounding the disappearance is slowly revealed and sounds more like a soap opera rather than a mystery.
I can't wait for the next book in this series.
Wonder how the rest of the group will react to the happenings from this book.

We really get to know the team better in this instalment and the other characters are growing on me more and more. Zoe and Aric are great new allies to Charlie and she learns a lot about herself with their help, as well as aiding them in a solving a local mystery. Charlie certainly manages to stumble across trouble with ease and has a nose for the paranormal, whether the rest of her team know it or not! I can't quite decide whether I want them all to find out about the world hiding in plain sight under their noses. It's certainly entertaining! Jack and Charlie seem to be struggling with their feelings and Charlie has a lot to think about, both from her emotional and supernatural development. Is there room for Jack in there as well? Life is certainly interesting and I can't help but be drawn into the over reaching story and character arcs of this fabulous group. Can't wait for the next.

The Kiss and The Lost

Absolutely Fabulous. If you have read the previous books and loved them then you really have a treat in store for you. Not only is the plot well thought and brilliantly executed but the romances also get kicked up several notches. When the team are told that they are going to investigate the disappearance of a young couple they are intrigued especially as the area has legends of werewolves. Can the team find the missing? Also Charlie finds someone who has similar power to her. How will that affect the case and her. The characters just get better with every book and I hope that the notorious, outrageous family (that are introduced in this book) are featured again. Loved it and you won't be disappointed.

The story revolves around Charlie and the Legacy Foundation. Jackie is a close friend of hers and is a telekinetic.

There's two missing campers so the hunt is on for them and for finding out what happened to them. The group doing the study, including Charlie, has internal problems, especially with Laura having her eyes set on Jack. Charlie, though, is also interested in him.

Then there's an unusual family, Zoe, Aric and their child which become quite important later in the book. We find out more about Charlie's background, learn the abilities of Zoe, Aric and their child, a couple of shifters, a werewolf and more going on.

I think the story is pretty good although I'm more interested in Zoe and the others than I am in the main characters.

Amanda M Lee is a new all time favorite author. She has a way of drawing you into a book and getting your feeling involved. I can't wait to read the next one in this series. I love Charlie Rhodes and all of the other characters. I can't wait to read more of this series and how she gets other characters from other series into the mix. Can't wait to see where Charlie goes next.I have never laughed and cried reading a book as I have reading hers books. The only other Authors that have manged to do that are Nora Roberts, JD Robb, Catherine Coulter, and Richard H. Stephens. Would love to find more that can do that.

Charlie meets more magical people in this episode. A mage who doesn’t know what she is either but does teach her a few tricks. An alleged werewolf attack happens in camps grounds recently opened to the public. A newly wed husband and wife are missing and their tent looks as though an animal attacked it, that along with strange animal prints get the Legacy Group called in looking for a lycanthrope perpetrator. What they find in the end is an attempted murder by poisoning so the new wife can get the new husbands money. Greed pure and simple. But are there werewolves: you’ll have to read the story to find out.

Sooo good!

A great story again. I'm loving this new series and how it wanders into the the characters we love from the other series.

I have missed the Covenant series and love the characters and this was a great way to give them a little more interaction in the the ongoing and super well developed Amanda M. Lee universe!

I honestly can't wait to see what happens next in this series. Thought that is typical with all these series this is a great connection to enjoy all of the wonderful world the author brings.

Couples, couples, couples

Another great story. I love how the story brings characters from other series together. It's like having a visit with old friends. I am glad the a few of the couple's a really became couples at the end and can't wait for the next book to see how the relationships develop while I'm away visiting other old friends. I will be back to visit Charlie, Jack, Hannah, Chris, Millie and Bernard. Maybe Laura will get lost while I'm away....lol. I will be back as soon as the next book is ready.

Well, well, well… look who’s back 😈

I was enjoying the story, the character interactions, and watching Charlie and Jack tiptoe around their attraction, when whom should they stumble over but a character or two from another of Lee’s series. I was not expecting this lot of rabble rouser’s to turn up in Charlie’s domain, but was delighted they did so. I guess future crossover’s with other series’s might be in the works (I wonder what Jack and Charlie would make of the Grimlocks? Just a thought 😉).

I wish I could give more than 5 stars!

Charlie is off to central Michigan to find out if werewolves exists and ends up finding the Winters family. I was loving the storyline before, but getting an update on Zoe, Aric and Sami took it over the top. I loved getting the update on all of them and bow Zoe helped Charlie with some things. Jack and Charlie along with Hannah and Chris see a shift in dynamics. Such a great book. Highly recommend.

Great!

I loved everything about the book. Zoe and co. did not overwhelm and take away from Charlie and co. like the Winchesters did in book 1.

Charlie is great and is quickly becoming one of my favorite heroines from Amanda's books. She might even beat out Aisling and Poet! She wants to know more about herself and isn't afraid to go after it.

I can't wait for the next book! Hate to wait!

I love this series, Charlie is such a real character. As a giant lover of all things Covenant College related, I was super excited to see Zoe, Aric and Sami, especially since they gave Charlie support and provided some further details and insight into her powers. And as for the resolution.. squeeeeeee. My only regret is that with Hannah and Chris paired off is the series ready for 6 of the 7 monster hunters to be potentially coupled. however I can ignore my doubts because.. yay \o/

Another good book by Amanda M. Lee

This is my favorite book in this series I think. For two reasons, Jack comes to his senses and I really like Eric, Zoe and Sami. I hope they make another appearance in books to come. Sami is a hoot and I would love to hear all of them getting together for more adventures!
I would suggest reading the series in order, starting with book 1. Bigfoot Blunder. Book 2. The chupacabra catastrophe.
All of Amanda's are great reads.

I want more

Amanda is an amazing author, she writes quit a few series and they are all great. The only downfall is since she writes so many series you have to wait for the next book, but guess what while your waiting you get one of the new ones for a different series. Can't wait to read the next book. I can't wait for Charlie to tell Jack her secret he is going to probably make of fool of himself like men do, but knowing Mrs.Lee she will make it a good book.

She did it again and I'm still a big fan of her books! Charlie Rhodes and the investigation team take a turn at checking out a disappearance of a Wed couple in the forest. At first they think that the signs point to werewolves and the Lisa the wife is found. She is alive and boy does she have a story to tell but as always things are never as they seem! I love this series and cant wait until I can read the next one!!

Roller-coaster thrill

This book was definitely better, IMO, thanks the first two. The first two were cute & fun, had some action and some great back and forths but this book, this was action packed from the beginning. Mystery at every turn of the page and humor throughout. The ending could've had a bit more detail in the backyard scene but overall, it was a great story to read in a day. On to book 4!

Werewolves in Michigan

Lots of Charlie, Millie and Jack, with a soupçon of my favorite wolf and mage family. Charlie is getting a bit frustrated waiting for Jack to react to her as a woman, not just the newbie. But there is a handy distraction in work as the Foundation is sent to Michigan looking for a werewolf after a possible attack that has left a man missing and possibly dead, with his wife in the hospital.

Highly Entertaining!

Another crossover! Last time it was with the Winchesters in Hemlock Bay. This time Zoe & Aric from Covenant College make an appearance as the Legacy Foundation investigates werewolves. As in every Amanda M Lee book there is humor, snark, mystery, a paranormal twist, & of course romantic angst! I am addicted to this zany series!

Charlie and the gang go to Michigan again. This time to see if werewolves actually exist but they get more than they bargained for.
Things begin to heat up with a few people and a romance blooms. Not telling who. You need to read to get the answers.

**SPOILER ALERT**

I am glad the story ended the way it did. You saw it coming from "The Bigfoot Blunder", of course Amanda always has her main female and main make characters "hook up". "The Werewolf Whoops" aggravated me though as Charlie needs to suck it up and tell Jack everything. He won't run, Amanda won't let him (at least run too far).
All in all another good one!!
