I won this book in a goodreads drawing.

Inca the cat and her group of friends travel to Sri Lanka, where they talk to sea turtles, elephants, and leopards. A priceless sword disappears, and the animals get on the case to find it.

A fun book, with nice illustrations.

Inca and her friends Cara, Fromage, Charlotte, Terrence, Monk and Polo who were also fellow cat investigators and dogs, were on an island paradise having the time of their life when as is known, in paradise, there is always snakes lurking about in plain sight. That’ is what Inca and her team found out when the island's museum was robbed and a valuable sword artifact and other precious items were stolen. Now it was up to these cool cats and dogs to solve this crime and get back to their precious and idyllic holiday. A fascinating and interesting fun read with quirky characters, that brought the book alive.

The voice actor for this was a really great choice, her cat voice was just so on point. I felt like I really was listening to a younger person talking as the cat. The amount of knowledge and history that was told about the area was really interesting. You could really tell the Author had done her research and was being true to the country and the area.

It was so simply done as well, had me smiling a few times in multiple places. The humor and tone were just so well done. It was just a light adventure kid’s story. Really interested to read/listen to more of the Author’s work.

It did feel a little fast in some places, did feel like it could have been slowed down a little.

Tough read

I thought this book sounded fun, but when I started to read it, I found it difficult. It skipped around so much I wasn't sure what was going on. It seemed that the author, just crammed as many places into the beginning of the book as possible. The book as it progressed had several inconsistencies, such as waking at sunrise and then going for brunch shortly after. Then there were the meeting of the animals. Some of them were named and a discussions had, and then some of the meetings were just that. Especially the meeting of the monkeys, no talking with them. Finally, the premise of the book was cute, but the way they went about solving the crime should have been done in a different way. Even though this is a short story, I felt like it would never end.

In this series, we follow animals as the main protagonists. The author writes it as diary entries of our principal character, a Siberian cat named Inca. Inca has a dog, two cats, and a hamster as companions on her detective’s adventures. In this book, they go with their owner Missy on vacation in gorgeous Sri Lanka. There they encounter stunning beaches, wildlife, and the mystery of a stolen artifact. Even though you can read this series out of order, I recommend you to read this one before book eight. Moreover, I would recommend you to read book one before reading other books, to get a proper introduction to the characters. The perfect reading age for this book is children between six and nine years old. Middle-grade readers might find this book tedious. Parents, teachers, and babysitters might pick this book up to read together with the children. Anyone who has children, who like animals as characters in the story, might give this series a chance.
I liked the illustrations in this book the best. They are marvelous additions to the story. However, there could be more of them. Furthermore, the storyline has poignant messages about family, friendship, curiosity, and teamwork. One thing I noticed with this series is that the characters are abundant. That can overwhelm younger readers. Inca, as the main character, is very vain and boisterous. Notwithstanding her loud personality, that can not be the best example for younger readers.

**This review is for the audiobook on Audible.**

Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat: Inca Book Series, Book 7 by R.F. Kristi, narrated by Stephanie Quinn is a delightfully engaging audiobook for children in grades 3-6 and depending on the individual, would also be an enjoyable listen for those in grades 7-8. I am a high school teacher, and even though some of my students would find this too juvenile, as an adult listener, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. :-) After hearing the sample, you will know if it is right for you. This is the first book I have read/listened to from both the author and narrator; even though it is part of a series, I would still consider it a stand-alone, if you wanted to start with this one. I'll allow you to read the plot description on your own, as it gives a detailed explanation of the exact storyline. The running time of this audiobook is around 1.5 hours, making it perfect for an afternoon listen or a car ride up north. I recommend it to those who love children's books, cozy mysteries, animals, and culture! This is also a great option for those looking for an audiobook that the whole family will enjoy! Filled with figurative language and opportunities for discussion, Serendipity Mystery is very well thought out! I was thoroughly impressed with the writing, and I could definitely see many teachers using this book in the classroom to supplement their lessons on similes, vocabulary, and characterization, to name a few. **Of course, like everything that is used for educational purposes, make sure to you are following the Fair Use Policy guidelines or have been granted permission for use before choosing to implement.**

The performance by Stephanie Quinn blew me away! I wasn't sure if this was a child narrating or an adult who was just that good!! After checking out samples of her other work, I realized that she is just that good! Wow! Her amazing voice!!! She did a phenomenal job playing these adorable, loving characters! Her performance made me want to hear more in the series, and while I'm sure the book is wonderful without audio, my overall experience was heightened by choosing the audiobook. Everything from her pronunciation, clarity, and speed to her inflection, volume, and enthusiasm kept me engaged in the story from start to finish. I am so impressed by her amazing performance! Bravo!

The audiobook Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat: Inca Book Series, Book 7 by R.F. Kristi, narrated by Stephanie Quinn deserves 5/5 stars across the board. From the wonderful learning opportunities and fun storyline to the engaging narration, this is an audiobook your entire family will love! I highly recommend it all!

Thank you for reading my review. I hope it was helpful. :-)

I recently read the book, Serendipity Mystery, Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi. After debating with myself, between a one and a two, I rated this book a 2.

As billed, this book is part of the Inca Book Series for seven to twelve-year-olds. It's a stand-alone book about a detective cat, Inca, and friends as they solve a mystery involving a stolen sword. It even has a cute little family tree in the front so you can see who all is in the family.

As much as I was thrilled to be able to read a children's chapter book, it took me forever to read it. The list of characters is long and hard to keep track of who was going where. The descriptions of the family are sometimes really odd. They have a hamster friend, Charlotte, who hangs out with them. Since cats eat hamsters, I found that an odd.

As it deals with cats, I figured this was geared more toward younger readers than older as I was quickly bored by it. I put it away and picked it back up and hoped it would get better. It didn't.

The main issues were how the book was written. The author changes tenses several times, using past tense and past perfect tense, which was confusing. There was an issue with timing as well - waking up very early and going for brunch. In the beginning, the author talks about the UNESCO sites and then never discusses them again in the course of the book. If she wanted to use those as locations for the characters, it would have been a great educational piece for the readers.
The story about a missing sword and how Inca and friends solved the mystery was just very bland. There is not only an array of family and friends, there are all the new animal friends they make there in Sri Lanka and it gets very convoluted. Some of the language was outside of the realm of most second graders - scrumptious, companionable, sarong, diplomatic - and others. If you are going to use the word sarong, a nice picture of the man in one would have been a great use of illustration instead of multiple cat pictures.

Lastly, I have to admit I was bored. I could not imagine a sixth grader (twelve-year-old) being able to finish this book. For younger readers, it would be helpful to not only talk about each chapter and point out words they didn't know and have a discussion on it, but the book also didn't have a glossary at the end of it to help children reading on their own.

Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat is a children’s mystery by R.F. Kristi. Inca the Siberian cat and her siblings, Cara, Charlotte, and Fromage, are enjoying an exciting vacation in Sri Lanka with Mom, their owner. When an antique sword is stolen from the local museum, Mom’s friend, Solo, is hired to investigate the theft.

Curious Inca likes solving mysteries and think this case is perfect for her detective agency, Inca and Company. Chats with new friends Meena, a baby elephant, and Ran, a turtle, turn out to be the clues Inca needs. She and her team trespass into a neighbour’s home, but are chased away by the angry caretaker. Mischievous Fromage sneaks into the jungle one night and Inca fears he might be attacked by leopards!

Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat is number seven in the Serendipity Mystery series for children by R.F. Kristi. This is a humorous tale narrated by the queen of kitties, Inca. She tells about her snooping adventures with her family and describes very entertainingly the people and places they visit. The cats are fun, playful, smart, although Fromage seems to be a handful at times.

R.F. Kristi has written a delightful story that will appeal to children. This is a great mystery adventure that focuses on some of the characters from the other books. Inca’s family tree is an interesting one and I also liked the lovely artwork too. Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat is recommended. Kids will adore these cats.

I am new to the Inca & Company Detective Agency, but luckily for me and for young readers out there, there is a handy dandy character legend and family tree at the beginning of the book to help them (and me) keep track of the many characters mentioned along the way in the book.

Inca and her family are vacationing on the island of Sri Lanka when an ancient sword goes missing. When their famous detective next door neighbor from home, Solo and his trusty dog, Terrance, get the case, Inca and her team, along with some new friends are ready to assist.

In addition to detective fun, the book is filled with many cultural delights of the island of Sri Lanka, including visits to national landmarks and wonderful information on native animals. This is a terrific book for chapter readers and could be a great addition to any home or school library.

‘The Queen of Kitties, Inca, the Siberian Detective Cat‘

Author R.F. Kristi earned her PhD in economic development and is a former professional of the United Nations Children’s Fund. Currently living in France, Kristi is not only an animal lover but also is devoted to animal rescue programs. Her Inca Book Series, of which this is volume 7, is an Award-Winner in the Wishing Shelf Book Awards & Reader’s Favorite Awards.
The Inca Cat book series is for younger readers up to age 8 or 12 and also animal lovers. Her goal - that the proceeds of the Inca Book Series will be donated to animal rescue efforts in developing countries – especially the Cat Protection Trust of Sri Lanka.

The book reads with gentle ease in a format that makes reading for younger readers not only feasible but also enjoyable. The terrific illustrations are by illustrator Jorge Valle. In introducing her characters Kristi allows her main character to speak to us - ‘I am Inca, a super-duper cat detective. Inca & Company is the detective agency that I head, and the team has already been involved in solving some serious detective mysteries. Our fame has spread through London, the rest of England, and has even reached France.’ What follows are cultural experiences, animal detectives, and tales of teamwork.

Kristi provides a superb synopsis of the book – ‘An artifact gone missing. A jungle full of clues. Can one cat detective save a national treasure? Inca the Siberian Kitty can’t wait to add Sri Lanka to the list of places she’s explored. But before her paws touch the sandy beaches, she learns a local museum needs her crime-solving skills to track down a stolen ancient sword. With her trusty diary in tow, Inca leaps whisker-first down a trail of clues that leads her deep into the wild jungle. After getting a little help from a baby elephant and her not-so-distant leopard cousins, she learns about the country’s rich history and just how important it is to restore the sword to its rightful place. With her furry family and new friends by her side, Inca can feel she’s close to getting her claws on the sword… but it’ll take teamwork to save a priceless piece of history.’

Pure pleasure to read – both as an adult with a keen eye for parody and fancy – and for young readers to read for themselves, or to be treated to a terrific bedtime story. Highly Recommended.

This is a lovely book for children from ages 4-8 that tells about Inca, the Siberian detective kitty, and her team of sleuths having an adventure in Sri Lanka. When an antique sword goes missing from the museum, the detectives work with Sri-Lankan natives to solve the crime. Along the line, Inca has a close brush and gets to meet her distant cousins. Wanna know which member of the cat family she finds? Read the book!

I loved the friendships formed and easy flow of conversation between the characters in the story. Although the tale has several errors in grammar and picture placements, it's generally a delightful read and will take the children on an eventful adventure.

This is a delightful mystery for children ages 8 through 12. We see through the cats and other animals how we can work together, walk through fears to enjoy people who are different than ourselves, and how to assess a situation to find resolution. As the family travels to a unique location, there are rich descriptions of the surroundings that can fascinate a young reader. This would also be a great story to read with a child or grandchild; young and old can be captivated by a Snoopy Cat and her friends. It is 7th in the Inca Cat Detective Series; one does not need to read the earlier books to enjoy this one.
Inca, a Siberian cat who sees herself as the Queen of Kitties and a super-duper cat detective, and her family go on vacation to Sri Lanka. Along with her are her brother, sister, and a beloved, intelligent hamster. There is a rich, 2,000-year-old culture there with temples and centuries-old drawings in caves. The story is well-detailed in Inca’s diary of the trip, except what qualifies Sri Lanka as having one of 8 Unesco World Heritage sites.
Inca and the other cats’ mom has planned to go to the Colombo Museum, but a valuable antique sword and many gold coins have been stolen. While Inca would love to stay and help solve the mystery, Mom takes them back to the beach house. Solo, their neighbor from back home and a renowned international detective is invited to the museum to help find the stolen treasures. With him will come Inca’s friends, a beautiful Russian Blue cat and a brave and brainy detective doggy.
The adventures of the cats, dog, and hamster, and the new friends they make at the beach house, work together to solve a mystery that involves scary, cruel bad guys and a local village bully. Reading Inca’s daily diary entries are compelling tales that would delight readers young and old.
Each of the animals makes important contributions to their mutual friendship and solving the mystery as a whole. One can definitely learn much from these friends who work for the common good. I highly recommend this for children who like cats, dogs, mysteries, and what-if…what if I ran into an elephant, a leopard, or a python. It is sure to delight.
From a grateful heart: I received this book from a Goodreads First contest, and this is my honest review.

The holiday vacation was warmly embraced by the kitties, Inca, the snoopy cat, her sister Cara, and her brother Fromage. Their human mom decided to take them to explore the Serendipity Island in Sri Lanka. They enjoyed the warm weather during their stay at the Island. Unfortunately, a crime was reported of a stolen sword and other valuable goods from the Colombo Museum.

Inca was the CEO of Inca & Company. So she decided to bring together some members of her detective team to do an investigation regarding the stolen valuables. Grab a copy of the book to find out whether the detective team reclaimed the stolen valuables and who the perpetrators were.

The book depicts an interesting diary written by Inca. It showcases the events Inca’s family experienced during their vacation in Serendipity. I like how creative the author is. She put together intriguing illustrations that help the reader get a clear picture of the scene described. She also used a descriptive writing style to narrate the story from the perspective of Inca. The tone used in the narration of the story is conversational. The idea of merging humans and animals to create an engrossing and fascinating story is a plus.

Children between ages 5 and 10 years will benefit from reading the book. There is a lot to pick from the narrative. For instance, the children will learn the impacts of teamwork. They will also learn to be responsible, committed, and loyal. Moreover, gaining knowledge about different countries and cultures is a bonus.

Inca, the Snoopy Cat, and her family travel to Sri Lanka for vacation. These furry companions meet elephants, big cat cousins, a turtle named Ronnie and a very scary python out to make a midnight snack of Inca! I loved the descriptions of the exotic locale of Sri Lanka and the delight that was shown by the kittens throughout the book.

This is wonderfully fun story for kids (and adults, too!), full of adventure, mystery, detective work and loads of fun creatures. I am definitely not a kid (unless I'm in my second childhood at 61), but I love listening to this one. I would definitely recommend this book (and the series) to anyone looking for a entertaining audiobook for youngsters and their families.

The narrator does a great job and that voice? I couldn't decide if it was a young girl or just a woman able to make herself sound that way. Either way, her performance really added a lot to my enjoyment. My only complaint is that the pauses between chapters was very brief, making it hard for the listener to stop the book at an appropriate place.

I was given the opportunity to listen to this book by the narrator/publisher/author and chose to review it

This story had everything I wanted in a children’s book. It contained engaging, unique characters with personalities that leapt from the page. Lessons concerning friendship, teamwork, and accepting others who are different were intertwined with the story in a way that didn’t feel preachy. There were also cute statements such as, “After all, I still have all my nine lives left. Why not take a chance with just one?” that were entertaining.
Excellent details about Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage were included in a manner that taught the reader about the setting’s past while still being relevant to the story. Similarly, other fun facts about Sri Lanka were included (e.g., UNESCO sites, tea plantations, etc.) that brought the setting to life while informing the reader about the area.
The illustrations throughout the story were cute and really helped to highlight the characters’ personalities. A family tree illustration was included at the beginning of the book, which easily explained who all of the characters were. My favorite illustration was of Inca as a mermaid with Rani the sea turtle sitting nearby.

Like walking back to my childhood

Reading a children's book at my adulthood especially abook of this kind filled with lively adventures, am made to believe that the little snoopy child in me still lives on secretly searching for clues to every piece of puzzle life throws at me.
The simplicity of the characters, reflects a child's playfulness in a rather beautiful way.

And most of all the use of words makes the reader immerse him or herself in the scenes, its lively indeed and fast paced too which doesn't give the reader any opportunity to put the book down.
I totally loved it.

An exciting story for young readers

I won a Kindle version of this book through a Goodreads giveaway. This is the first book I've read in the Inca series and was interested in it because my stepdaughter absolutely loves cats and stories involving cats and other animals (just like me!) It was well written and easy to follow. The pictures were very cute and a great accompaniment to the story. Children that are interested in the locations mentioned in the book may want to write down the names of places so they can look them up after reading. They may need some help reading a few words, too. I would recommend this book to parents of younger children.

Another charming cat adventure in the series.

Snoopy cat Inca, and her friends and family, are on a trip to Sri Lanka with their human mother, for a holiday. The beaches are heavenly, and the strange animal's area pleasure to meet, but there is also a crime to be solved when a sword and a collection of ancient coins are stolen from the local museum. Inca has surprising adventures and meets strange animals to help her. This is an exciting adventure for children to enjoy, with beautiful pictures to stimulate the imagination as well. As an adult animal lover myself, I enjoyed this book, which is perfect to share with your children or your grandchildren!

Great start for beginner sleuths.

This is a fun detective story for young children. It's easy to read, so for a parent reading to their child it won't be a bore. As an adult who grew up reading Nancy Drew, I would have loved to have this kind of book to start with at an earlier age. The illustrations are great and enjoyable. They make the book all the more fascinating. Through slight comments a young reader learns about French culture and spots.
There is nothing to dislike. It's a short read that makes you want to read more about Inca and her friends adventures.

This book is a quite enjoyable read from start to finish. I read it with my 8 year old daughter and she especially enjoyed the premise, almost as much as I did. A nosy little kitty detective on vacation who stumbles upon a mystery. The illustrations are bright and vibrant and lend themselves well to the well written story! We also loved all the animals in the book and look forward to reading more stories in the Diary of a Snoopy cat series. Kudos to the author R.F. Kristi.

I won a Kindle copy of this book as part of a Goodreads giveaway. I LOVE Goodreads giveaways!!

I am a big fan of mysteries and I have 2 cats! So, mysteries that feature cats are awesome!!

This book was a quick, light, and easy read, geared towards a younger audience. However, I really enjoyed it and the illustrations were adorable. It reminded me a little of the Disney movie Aristocats and the times I used to watch it with my kids when they were little, good memories!

This is a wonderful child-friendly pet detective mystery that parents can feel confident allowing their children to read. The author has created the series to raise animal awareness and provides educational “animal facts” associated with the characters. The book is suspenseful without being scary in any way, the characters work together despite their differences, and the illustrations are colorful and capture the characters’ personalities.

Cats, vacation, mystery, all you need in one book

I'm sure I am a lot older than the average reader of this series, but I really enjoyed it. Cats and mysteries are two of my favorite things. I really appreciated the tropical setting, the exotic animals and the diverse ethnicity of the characters, including the animals. I won this book from Goodreads.

This was a most enjoyable YA novel (even though that's a long time gone for me). I would enjoy reading this to my younger grandchildren and would love to introduce it to my oldest grandchild and have him read it (to me or by himself).

I look forward to getting the other stories in this series!
