Great for people with general anxiety...
This book has some great information and the exercises are practical and worth trying. Some may work and some may not. As with anything you have to find what's right for you. Some of the information is new but most of it has been said before. This book is great for those with general anxiety, however wouldn't help those who have anxiety related disorders.
Also the Kindle version of this book is extremely difficult to read. It doesn't seem to have been uploaded/formatted correctly as letters and words are missing and pages are a bit scrambled.

I enjoyed the perspective that this book provided. I did not feel as if she diminished the importance of the medical profession, but offered holistic approaches that can be used alone or in addition to medical treatments. I have not tried any of the techniques provided but I would like to after reading this book. I also really appreciated her discussing mindset, how we talk to ourselves, etc. I needed that reminder. I'm giving it 4 for now since I have not tried the techniques, but may update in the future when I try them.

In this book, Amy Scher discusses her theory of how unresolved emotions and limiting beliefs cause anxiety and provides energy healing techniques to clear those emotions and beliefs. The techniques described in this book are apparently very similar to what she described in her previous book (which I have not read), but this book is focused specifically on anxiety. It offers many examples and tapping scripts to help you understand how to apply these techniques to healing anxiety.

Much of her work is derivative of other healers’ work (she cites Donna Eden but doesn’t mention many other sources), but every healer has a slightly different approach, and perhaps Ms. Scher’s presentation will be just what you need to heal your anxiety. The book is written in a very friendly, encouraging tone (although all of the exclamations made me think of a cheerleader who has had too much coffee). I found the text a little too conversational, but that’s a matter of personal preference.

I am not a fan of kinesiology (muscle testing), which is used quite extensively in this approach (although alternatives are provided). I do like the author’s 5-step healing approach, and I think some of her suggested techniques can be helpful for anxiety. If you are curious about energy healing, this book provides a good introduction to the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and similar techniques the author claims she developed herself. I liked the descriptions of the tapping points with associated meridians and emotional associations, and I appreciated the sample tapping scripts provided.

I’m a big advocate of self-healing. If you suffer from anxiety and don’t already have good methods of self-healing, this is worth trying. Be aware that you will probably need to make a commitment to do the exercises daily to see a significant improvement. I would give this 3.5 stars if I could, but I can’t, so I am rounding up to 4 stars.

I was provided an unproofed ARC through NetGalley that I volunteered to review. Because I have not seen the final published version, I cannot comment on the final editing and formatting. The ARC had so many editing and formatting problems that it was very difficult to read, but hopefully those errors have been resolved in the published version.

Amy Scher gives her readers a path to acceptance, emotional awareness, and a way to empower oneself to kick anxiety to the curb. She explains the origin of anxiety being those emotions which get buried due to trauma or just everyday coping when one doesn't have the tools or time to actually process the emotions and they get buried in our nervous systems. Through the use of EFT (emotional freedom technique), tapping, and body mind connection she walks her readers and listeners through the process of finally unearthing old beliefs or caustic emotions that need to be acknowledged and let go. The tools she uses are powerful yet simple and accepted by many in the field of psychology and other healing practices. She gives her reader the ability to reclaim their power and connect with his or her conscious and subconscious in the comfort of their own home move through anxiety to the possibility of Peace. What a gift she has given the world.

Really great tools that I will implement in my daily life. I always love when a person is a mental health professional while involved in spirituality/energy work as well. These two things really do go hand and hand. The body is made up of energy centers. We are energy.

The thing that surprised me the most about this book is finding out that anxiety can manifested from unexpressed emotions. That anxiety itself is an after effect of experiencing an event, and it doesn’t have to be related to nervousness at all. Really blew my mind.

Love to find books like these as I continue my healing journey

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I got this book because there are time I try to ask for help when I am feeling a little off and people I talk to make it worse. So I saw this when I was looking for books to request for my blog. I have had it for a few months and it not something you can just do in a day. It takes time to make the techniques that are present in the book because routine. I did find some things in the book that did work for me and it made me feel like I was doing the right thing for me. I know not everything in this book will work for everyone.

Overall, this was a good book and had all Amy's usual good humor and energy techniques. However, it felt a lot like her original book, How To Heal Yourself When No One Else Can. Here book on depression had some overlap with her original book, but there was also a lot of targeted, unique information. This one was so similar to the original, I wouldn't suggest buying both. However, if you deal with anxiety, I would recommend trying this or her original. She helped me a lot years ago (with the original book) when I was really stuck on some significant issues.

Effective advice! Amy's work and techniques have really helped me! It is so refreshing to hear someone else acknowledge that we can't always "just breathe" to fix anxiety. It is empowering to have the tools in my own toolbox, and to know that they've always been there. Identifying and clearing the root causes and emotions behind the symptoms is so effective. I can't wait to dive deeper and continue to heal. Thank you, Amy!!

Excellent, straightforward techniques to help ease your anxiety. Also, Amy helps you dig deeper to find the roots of your anxiety so you can slowly eradicate it. Her online freebies (Facebook group support, website posts and videos) complement the book so you never feel alone in your healing journey. I've had more success releasing emotional baggage and stuck energy using Amy's techniques than I have working with any practitioner.

It was a book which wasn't really what I was expecting. However it was well written and didn't drag. I am not sure I will be trying the techniques presented in the book given that it was mostly EFT and similar ones. The views of the author were still useful for me to some extent.

I received a free copy from Netgalley. This doesn't affect my opinion in any way.

Really helpful information and exercises. If you're reading straight through, you'll notice some repetition, but I think that's more for people who will jump to certain chapters and have all of the necessary info contained in one place.

There are several interesting concepts in this book that are worth a concerted attempt. This book has its base in eastern methodology, focusing on energy centers and learning how to disperse negative potential that has accumulated. Amy writes well and the content is easy to understand.

Health, Mind & Body, Nonfiction (Adult)

This was an interesting book and with the current health situation my anxiety is high. There were several ideas with exercises that I thought were helpful. The information on chakras reinforced ideas that are always good to remember. I learned more tapping techniques. If you are looking for new ways or reinforce old ways to deal with anxiety,

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this book.
I have had anxiety for years and I have read numerous books on how to handle my anxiety. I was hoping that this book could be the one that actually helped me. All it did was repeat the same thing every other self help book said to do. I know that this book could actually be extremely helpful for someone who has mild anxiety because it has a great deal of helpful information. I would recommend it to anyone who is experiencing anxiety attacks because it may just work for them.

I have terrible anxiety from a car accident where I was clinically dead for a short time. My anxiety is crippling at times. Medicines do not help. I was excited to see this book and have tried some of the exercises which have helped. I will be trying all of them. When I read that one exercise is letting go of the things or baggage that keep the anxiety from being cured, it made so much sense. Letting go of something that causes you to be paralyzed will be an amazing thing. This is written in the book and is such a great thought "Anxiety is not the problem, it is the result of the real problems , unresolved emotional energies". This is paraphrased, but I think it says so much. I can't say enough about this book. I received this book from Net Galley and Llewellyn Worldwide for a honest review and no compensation otherwise. The opinions expressed are my own.

"How to Heal Yourself from Anxiety When No One Else Can" is a must-read for any anxiety sufferer. Bestselling author Scher ("How to Heal Yourself When No One Else Can") is a wonderful writer who knows her subject firsthand, and what I loved about her book was that she didn't write about the same-old, same-old bandaids solutions to dealing with anxiety such as yoga, deep breaths, etc. (No offense to yogis or breatharians!) She shares her own techniques and her take on EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and she offers true hope to anxiety sufferers. I'm thrilled she wrote this book as it has helped me and it will help countless others. Thank you, Amy Scher, for writing this book!

It would be an understatement to say I loved this book and it helped my anxiety.

This book is designed to assist us in identifying anxiety and its symptoms. Once identified, it offers practical solutions and exercises to alleviate it.

The premise is when other things (such as deep breaths, yoga and long walks) are not enough, work through this book. It provides a workbook too guide you through this process.

I have had anxiety for my entire life but was not diagnosed until a few years ago. I wasn’t sure this book would be of any help since nothing so far had erased the rapid heartbeat, increased irritation or desire to turn within I felt in stressful situations. Wow was I wrong!

I was astounded to learn that many physical symptoms not usually associated can be caused by anxiety. It can manifest as:
• Negative, compulsive or obsessive thoughts
• Needing to be in control of life and others
• Inability to relax
• Difficulty making decisions
• Being too hard on yourself (self-critical)
• Resistance to allowing others to help
• Feeling shaky or unstable
• Feeling sad, angry, or pretty much any other emotion
• Being moody
• Inability to concentrate
• Digestive upset
• Heartburn
• Fatigue
• Sensitivity to lights, EMFs, etc.
• Pretty much any physical symptom

I enjoyed learning about the E standing test and the squish test as two of the examples of understanding how your body is talking to you. The Chakra Tapping and daily grounding (the “practice of connecting yourself to both the Earth’s North and South Poles”) are two things I try to do each morning.

I found the most interesting section to be about the Fight, Flight, or Freak Out Response. The Freak Out response is being overwhelmed “which causes people to feel stuck in a frozen state, unable to help themselves.” This causes self-sabotage. The book provided techniques to combat this response. This chapter is truly invaluable.

I received an ARC from Llewellyn Worldwide, Ltd. through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affects my opinion or rating of this book.
