I really, really should not have started this series yet since I am part way through two other series by this author, but I needed a cover with a black cat for a Halloween challenge and who could ignore this little kitty. Anyway at least I can now say that I like pretty much anything this author writes!
Dark, Witch & Creamy is set is the English Cotswolds in a little village called Tillyhenge. Caitlyn is there following up clues to her parentage having only recently discovered she was adopted as an abandoned baby in this part of the English countryside. During the course of the book she learns that witches and vampires really exist, learns a little about herself and decides to make some big changes in her life.
The book does end with a number of uncompleted issues which means I have to move on to the next one as soon as I can!

Caitlyn Le Fey left her cousin Pomona and headed from Oxford to the tiny village of Tillyhenge in search of answers to her past. Having recently discovered she had been adopted after being found abandoned near the small village in the Cotswolds as a baby, Caitlyn needed to know her heritage. But on her arrival she found herself immersed in the mystery of a recent murder.
Staying in the small attic room above the town’s chocolate shop – Bewitched by Chocolate – Caitlyn met some of Tillyhenge’s residents. Some were friendly, others weren’t. But the discovery that she had the ability to perform magic shocked her – she didn’t even believe in magic, did she?
Dark, Witch & Creamy is the first in the Bewitched by Chocolate series by H.Y. Hanna, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I wish I could try some of that chocolate though… Plenty of twists; delightful English countryside; magic and a handsome Lord all combine to create a great cosy mystery laced with paranormal aspects. Recommended.

A feel good and relaxing paranormal. You will find aspects of most fantasy. There are a witches, magic, a vampire, a shapeshifter, a large dog, small black kitten, the lord of the manor, ancient stones, a ritual fire, a villain and last but not least cacao beans. There are a couple of funny scenes occurring from the use of magic. The characters are developed and will grab your attention and keep you turning the pages.There is Caitlyn Le Fey adopt at birth seeking her family, James Fitzroy, the Lord of the manor, David Allen, the shy salesman, Angela, a villager, Widow Mays. I recommend this book for an entertaining read.

This book was a great read! I love HY Hanna her Oxford Tearoom series and it's easily one of my favorite cozy mystery series, so when I heard she was starting a new series I was really excited. I haven't read a lot of cozies with a paranormal touch so far, but I really liked how that aspect was handled here. Dark, Witch & Creamy is a solid start to a new series. We get to meet some fun characters, visit this nice small english town, there's a mystery to solve and chocolate! It's just as good as her other series and I see this one quickly joining the list of my favorite cozies series. I couldn't get enough of this book and had this urge to keep reading.
This book really reads like a first book in a series, we get introduced to the characters, get a feel for the town and the people who live there and there's a lot of focus on Caitlyn finding her way there and meeting people. t's very introductory in a sense, but I did enjoy that part. And even with all that going on, it still has a solid mystery going on as well. I didn't figure out the murderer until Caitlyn did, although I did cross off some people I was pretty sure wouldn't be the murderer and did got those correct, lol. The mystery was a fun one and I liked the touch of magic interwoven in everything. There were some great red herrings and I kept wondering if this was a red herring or a real hint, it's almost easy to miss the real hints with everything going on.
I would classify this book as a paranormal cozy mystery as the magic and paranormal aspect is a big and important part of the plot. It doesn't overtake the plot, but it is an important part of it and is nicely interwoven into the story. I am impressed with how HY Hanna handled the magic aspect. While I like reading paranormal books, witches aren't my favorite and I wasn't sure how well paranormal and cozy mystery would go together. But I really liked how the author wrote the paranormal aspect and the magic. I like how Caityn slowly got to believe in magic, instead of all at once. I found her response very believable and realistic. And while I wasn't sure if I would like the paranormal aspect added to a cozy mystery I found that in this book the magic really added to the story.
I quickly warmed up to Caitlyn the main character, she's fun to read about. She is curious about her past and goes to investigate. I liked how she was proactive and curious, but also friendly and open minded. She was fun to read about and I can't wait to read more of her adventures and figure out who her real family is. And besides Caitlyn we meet a great cast of side characters as well, like Widow Mags, the Kitten, James, his dog, Victor and more. And there even is a small cameo appearance of the Old Biddies from the Oxford Tearoom series at the start, which was a nice touch.
Lastly I want to mention the setting and the chocolate. Like the Oxford Tearoom mystery series this one is set in a small english village as well, but while at first I feared they might be too similar, but that wasn't the case at all. I quickly formed a vivid image of this small town and it has a completely different feel than the village in her other series. I also liked the touches of magic that were interwoven into the history of the town. Then there is the focus topic of this series namely the chocolate. Gah this book made me crave chocolate. There are description of the most delicious chocolate and I enjoyed reading about the chocolate store.
To summarize: this was a great and solid start of a new series and I already am looking forward to more books in this series! Dark, Witch and Creamy is a paranormal cozy mystery book and it's so much fun to read! I liked meeting Caitlyn and all the side characters. I felt like I was reading a Scooby Doo Mystery.
The main female lead is some random stranger in a small town and she gets filled in on all the details of the murder so she can help solve it. There is actually a slobbery huge dog that the male lead character owns. Oh and don't forget the leads spend the entire book hinting about their possible romantic interest but never acting much on it... Sound familiar? 'Eye Roll'

I really, really enjoyed this story. Left on a bit of a cliff -this murder was solved very satisfactorily- but it was so obviously not the end of the story. But I loved all of the characters and will be happy to continue on with the series.

Intriguing fun
I enjoyed this author's Oxford Tea Room mysteries so much, I wanted to try the witch books. Interesting characters, good plot, and fun pets, too. Parts of the mystery obviously carry over to the next book, and I don't care for that in most mysteries , but I'll be buying the second book for sure!

Welcome to a bewitching cozy mystery series, with a splash of magic. It was set in Britain and follows British English spelling and usage. You will be introduced to charming and lovable characters that entertain the reader through the twists and turns of each mystery, not easily solved.
The heroine of this story is named Caitlyn Le Fey. After her mom passed away, she discovered that she was actually adopted after having been abandoned on the side of the road near Tillyhenge, a tiny English village. Caitlyn goes to Tillehenge, where her life changes dramatically. She rents a room above a chocolate shop and begins to explore the area and its inhabitants, very curious about the man who had been murdered prior to her arrival. The mystery starts out as a complicated quest for parts of Caitland's birth family and history, but ventures much more into a murder investigation.
Book 1 is a solid start to this series. In it, we are introduced to Caitlyn, who rents a room above the chocolate shop, where most villagers refuse to shop since they are totally convinced that the owner is a witch who hexes her chocolate with magic. She discovers a kitten drowning and she jumps in to save it. Along comes Lord James Fitzroy, a handsome aristocrat, who is the feudal head of this community and his huge and goofy dog, Bran. It turns out she had to be saved by Lord James Fitzroy. She worried about the miserable introduction, since the rescue from the water left her looking like a drowned rat. They end up sharing the adorable and mischievous kitten. Bran falls in love with her instantly and slobbers all over her every time they meet. She also meets many other members of the community, which she may or may not be related to by blood.
Of course, a secondary bit of attention falls on the murder that occurred prior to Caitlyn's arrival. She acts as an amateur sleuth and checks out leads without thinking about the consequences, as many do in other mysteries. She follows leads and finds suspects, that she shares with the local police and Lord James Fitzroy.
Her American Cousin, Pomona, comes to visit. After an injury, she is invited to stay at the estate of James Fitzroy. The police promptly disregard most of her allegations, suggestions, and evidence on most occasions. Miraculously, they come to the same conclusions in the end.
This is a clean read, which is I enjoy immensely. I was delighted to discover the lack of any typos or editing errors with this Kindle Unlimited edition (oh how this does deliver a more enjoyable read). The books in this series are able to stand on their own, but reading them in order assures that you don't miss any delightful details. The conclusion delivers an H.E.A. regarding the murder, but there will definitely be more entertainment from the band of merry characters in the remainder of the series!

This was definitely a sweet surprise... A sprinkle of mystery, a dash of the supernatural, and a hearty helping of adorable and memorable characters allowed this book to captivate my attention and hold me spellbound... We meet Caitlyn, a young, naïve, and spirited girl attempting to track down the secrets of her past, which leads her to a small village in the heart of England; as she journeys through this story she comes into contact with a prideful yet cranky old witch, an overbearing but handsome Lord, and a host of quirky villagers along with her outrageous cousin (And of course CHOCOLATE....lots and lots of CHOCOLATE!); mix all of these ingredients together and you have the makings of an endearing read... 4 Delicious Stars:)

Dark, Witch and Creamy by H.Y.Hanna is the first book in the Bewitched by Chocolate Mystery series. Caitlyn finds that she had been abandoned as a baby and adopted and her search for answers to her past takes her to Tillyhenge, a village in the Cotswolds, where a man had recently been murdered. A delightful and interesting mystery where Caitlyn learns of he witchcraft abilities linked to chocolate. I loved the introduction with the tie-in to the Oxford Tearoom series and this book is just as good with lovely descriptions of the countryside. A wonderful start to another entertaining cozy mystery series.

“Dark, Witch, and Creamy” earns 5/5 Mouthwatering Chocolate Truffles Dusted with Cocoa! Yes! It’s that delicious of a tale!
Sitting with her cousin, Pamona, Caitlyn Le Fey savors her British tea and scones and ponders the somewhat shocking revelations of her birth. Her mother recently died in a tragic car accident, and surrounded by her mother’s lawyers she was handed the letter—the letter that announced she was adopted, well, it turns out she was really found abandoned on the side of the road. She learns she was actually born in a little Cotswold village called Tillyhenge with an unusual runestone around her neck. She decides she wants to explore her roots, but, Pamona is very worried about Caitlyn’s trip since the news has just announced a man was found dead under mysterious circumstances in an ancient stone circle just outside Tillyhenge. Pomie is leaps beyond what Caitlyn would believe to be reality saying magic may have played a part in this mystery. Magic?
Unabated by Pomie’s fears Caitlyn discovers a perfect picture postcard of a small Cotswold town tourist flock to visit. Deciding to spend the night she is told the only room available may be in a somewhat odd chocolate shop run by a somewhat odd lady. Caitlyn shows strength and determination as her search for truths leads her to some quirky characters from an ancient guardian to the antagonistic village gossips. The writing is clear and realistic; you discover your mouth is really watering with every ‘creamy’ description of the chocolate delights. Is there a hint of a possible romance? Are there more secrets to uncover? The conclusion was a delightful “Oh my!” but offering a cliffhanger leaves you wanting more…

What better way to spend a rainy, chilly Friday than sitting all snuggled up reading a cozy mystery with so much character? I have read two other cozy mystery series and was in need of a change. I’m glad I found this little gem.
The plot is a murder mystery sprinkled with some witchcraft and decadent, delicious chocolate creations that made my mouth water and had me searching for a snack every twenty minutes.
It was easy enough to follow, but kept the reader’s interest until the last page. I must say, this was one of few mystery novels I have read that managed to keep the pacing steady and intriguing throughout the entire story.
The characters were a nice mix that added to the overall charm of the story.
The main character came across as slightly slow at times and the romantic interest was just too perfect with a dash of brooding. Nevertheless, the story was still cute and wonderful to read.
The writing was light with the perfect amount of detail to paint a clear picture without getting lost in the nuances.
Overall, this was such a pleasure to read and I’m hoping I can find the second book in this series quickly. I would recommend this book to anyone, who loves chocolate, witchy stories and cozy mysteries.

Do you like stories with a mystery to solve, a murderer to find and a few paranormal elements? If you do, and you also like cozy mysteries, this story set in the English Cotswolds might be for you.
Caitlyn has learned new information about her past that made her decide to travel to the spot her adoptive mother found her – she hopes to find out more about who she is and where she came from. Little does she know that she will end up in a village where a murderer is on the loose, an elderly vampire on a mission will appear, she will meet a hunky Lord and she will meet people that more than likely have information she is seeking about her past.
This is a great introduction to a new series with many of the major characters introduced, a murderer identified and enough untold to create an interest in reading the second book when it comes out. Will Caitlyn find out about her past? Will she find love? Does magic exist? Where does Caitlyln’s future lie? I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to the next.

“Dark, Witch and Creamy” is a cute and cozy whodunit set in England that I so enjoyed getting to read. Caitlyn has just had some major changes in her life and has gone back to her roots to try to discover more about her mysterious past. While exploring a charming little English town, she stumbles upon some eccentric characters and, unfortunately, a murder investigation.
HY Hanna does a great job of keeping us guessing on who the guilty party might be, and while Caitlyn is figuring it out, she’s also working to see if there’s anything else she can find out about her past and her strange new affinity for chocolate design! This book is PERFECT for anyone with a sweet tooth and for someone who likes a gradual progression of events as the heroine uncovers more about herself. The author excels in her descriptions of all things edible and sweet and has obvious knowledge in these areas, as well as in all things English.

Paranormal Witch Cozy Mysteries are a favorite indulgence of mine as is chocolate so this book appealed to me right away. I have not had a witch cozy on my table in a while and I absolutely loved this one. Set in England, cozy as can be in a mysterious little town with a touch of magic and a dilapidated but delicious chocolate store, surrounded in mystery and magic this was a lovely story. Great characters, pets and a touch of all that we love England for, I highly recommend reading Dark, Witch and Creamy.

I'm surprised how much I enjoyed this book. This was my second cozy mystery that I readand the first one that I read by a different author, I didn't like at all. In addition, this book also has a paranormal element, which usually I am not a fan of. But I had read H.Y. Hanna's contemporary romance series and very much enjoyed them. so when this book was offered for free, I jumped at the chance to read it. I will definitely get my hands on the second book in this series.

Somehow I've ended up reading several paranormals in row, reading them back to back to back, and I have to say that there wasn't a bad one in the bunch! I've had this particular book on the tbr for quite a long while (story of my life), and I'm beyond glad to have finally read it. Really looking forward to book two.

meets the Lord of the Manor who owns most of Tillyhenge.
Caitlyn rescues a small black cat who stays at the
Manor with a Hugh English Mastiff named Bran.
There is a Percheron horse named Arion and the
reader will find out about the legend of stones and
the White Stag,
This is an enjoyable new paranormal cozy mystery series.
The stunning imagery of the village, stone area, the forest
and countryside is so realistic the reader will feel as if
they are there. The story is a compelling mixture of
Intrigue, mystery, suspense, magic, humor, romance
blend with a bit of paranormal events.
All the characterization is uniquely creative with a
variety of social and non-social interaction occurring
with each other.
A well crafted story. Looking forward to reading the
next book in the series.

Caitlyn has lead a lonely life, moving from place to place with her adopted mom, Barbara Le Fey. When Barbara dies in an auto accident Caitlyn is determined to learn more about her roots. She travels to Tillyhenge which is in the Cotswolds in England. Her cousin Pomona has been trying to convince her that she has some supernatural abilities so when Caitlyn learns that a man in Tillyhenge has been murdered by witchcraft her interest is peaked. Her eyes start opening more to the idea of magic when she stumbles upon a chocolate shop where the chocolate is too good to not be magical! Caitlyn forges a relationship with the shop owner, a witch called The Widow Mags. Caitlyn who planned on only staying in Tillyhenge for a couple days finds herself drawn to the chocolate shop, to the town and especially to handsome Lord James Fitzroy. Soon Caitlyn finds herself fighting to help The Widow Mags prove that the local man did not die from a poisoned chocolate. A good read, took me a little bit to get into the swing of it but I love the quirky characters and would like to read more in the series.

This was a quick, fun read, whizzing through it in a few hours and I admit that I was attracted to the book as it had a disclaimer that said it followed British spelling and usage (which I prefer)

But slightly psychic cousin Pomano has a bad feeling about this trip and things get off to a chaotic start when an old man claiming to be her vampire uncle accosts her before she starts off.
Suspend belief for a little while, with a cast of fun characters and delicious descriptions of chocolate truffles that make your mouth water you could do worse then spend an afternoon following Caitlyn as she delves into village life, discovers some of her own magic powers and tries to help find the murderer of a local gamekeeper.

I found the first chapter just annoying. I thought the dialogue was a little tedious and I really disliked Pomona. Really really really disliked her.
But shortly after the start of Chapter 2 - it started getting interesting. And that interest grew as the book continued. There were a few parts along the way I thought the story felt a little rushed and felt there could have been more character growth. There were also moments that I thought really walked the fine line of "acceptable" paranormal events and acceptance of such events...and too incredulous to believe.
Overall, though, the magic realism the author is incorporating (i.e magic focused on using chocolate as a tool and magic conduit) has really caught my interest. And I find myself wanting to get to know more about and really liking the characters (including Pomona) of the book. I really hope, though, that the author slows down and lets the story and characters develop more as the series continues.

Sometimes we read a book where the plot and characters are so well developed that we feel we are part of the scenes. This was such a book for me. I had such fun getting to know these characters and their story, and can hardly wait to visit them again!

For a book that had two murders, it felt rather fluffy. It earned its 3 stars because of the following:
1. No insta romance. There was a hint of it but the only insta-love was between the MC and the kitten she rescued.
2. Lots of delicious chocolate references. So much that I ended up eating some later.
MC was somewhat interesting but her cousin Pomona was way better. Nothing was really resolved in the book, even the killer wasn't established for sure.

This was a cute start to another series by H.Y. Hanna. It was formulaic In the sense that it has a sweet, but slightly insecure heroine, a swoony hero, and cute animal friends. I didn’t think I’d like this because I’m really not into witches, but unless it veers into darker territory, I’m going to continue on with it. Thanks, Kindle Unlimited. :)

Caitlyn’s old, vampire uncle, Viktor, sounded like he would add some interest to the story. Unfortunately, Caitlyn keeps telling him to leave her alone and go away.
And too many things didn’t track for me. Two examples:
-In an extremely juvenile turn of events, the town Mean Girl (an adult woman) and her adult friends come into the chocolate shop and start breaking goods. Why don’t The Widow Mags or Caitlyn insist they pay for the damaged items or call the police?
-This town is so small, and so hard to find it takes Caitlyn three drive-bys to see the sign. Yet, the day after she arrives there are multiple times when groups of tourists flock to the chocolate shop.
I read about half, then skimmed the rest.

"I can't believe you're really gonna do this."
Caitlyn Le Fey has always known that she was adopted. She plans to travel to Tillyhenge in order to learn about her family. A recent murder has been attributed to witchcraft and scares Caitlyn's cousin Pomona. Caitlyn proceeds with her travel plans and encounters an apprentice witch that has a little trouble with spells. A simple headache remedy becomes a funny encounter that has Caitlyn questioning her beliefs of the supernatural. Securing a room in the local chocolate shop gives Caitlyn more to consider as she observes The Widow Mags.
Caitlyn gets caught up in the mystery of the local standing stones and the murder that occurred there. She meets the local lord who is truly concerned about the townspeople and the rumors.
Caitlyn learns things about herself in the quest to find the killer. Her new found affinity with chocolate inspires her to help Widow Mags promote her shop.
This was a cute and at times funny read. The introduction of Viktor the vampire was quite amusing. His appearance in Tillyhenge was a hoot. I enjoyed the unity of family and look forward in learning how Caitlyn fits in. I'm interested in where her relationship with Lord James will go as well.
Lots of yummy chocolate, misguided spells and quaint English countryside. I look forward to the next book,

Best Characters Ever.
I'm not going to repeat the plot. Read other reviews for that.
I purchased this book because of the author. I love H.Y. Hanna's Oxford Tea Room series and this sounded almost as good.
Well I was wrong. It is just as good.
The characters aren't physically described to the point that I had a set picture of them in my mind. So when they appear I can picture them in my mind's eye and I like that.
What I also loved was the way the main characters of Tillyhenge were introduced.
When the MC Caitlyn arrived in Tillyhenge she goes in search of something for her headache. That's when Evie tells her she can cast a spell that will get rid of her headache immediately. With humorous results. To me Evie is a young Aunt Clara, her mother Bertha, an older Samantha and the Widow Mags. Endora all the way, just not glamorous.
These are the characters from the"Bewitched" tv show.
The only character I have a physical picture of is Viktor. The vampire. A skinny Bella Lugosi, the best vampire ever.
