Series: The Spinster’s Society Publication Date: 4/25/18
Secrets! Long held and closely guarded secrets are revealed in what is one of the best books of the series so far. It is well written and well plotted and focuses more on the two main characters than it does on the society interfering with whatever is happening. Yes, the society is there, but more in the background than they have been in other books. There was also a nice catch-up with the ladies and their families. We’ve always known there was more to Sudworth than meets the eye – and we finally find out what that ‘more’ is! There is also a bit of a set-up for what will probably be the next romance in the series – at least I hope it is.
As we’ve read through the series, we came to know that the Men of Nashwood were bound by blood as well as a deep friendship. We knew that the secret centered around Julius Hext, but that was all we knew. In this book, we learn the horrific events that happened when the Men of Nashwood were still just boys. With that kind of heartache, it is hard to see how they could grow into the wonderful men they have turned out to be.
Julius Hext is receiving blackmail notes and has been for the last year. Someone knows their secret and intends to make them pay. The men have been investigating and are getting closer and closer to finding the culprit. They have found that one member of the ton has been spreading rumors, but where is he getting his information? William Tift and Franklin Lockwood have followed him to Oxford where a woman of obvious wealth passes him a note. Can she be the source? Then, they see yet another woman arguing with her. As the two women split, Frank goes after one and William goes after the other. William confronts the one he is chasing, but she gets away – but not before he gets a good look at her.
Mrs. Leah Wells is a resident and teacher at the home the Spinster’s society run for battered and abused women. However, Leah doesn’t show any of the symptoms of having been an abused woman and Maura has begun to wonder about her and asks the other ladies to look into it. William and Franklin are assigned to keep an eye on the home and as they are arriving, they see a woman running down the street with a fire poker in her hand – she’s chasing a big, burly man who is dragging another woman with him. The first woman attacks the man with the poker and manages to free the woman. Then, William manages to rescue both of them from the man. Later, as William gets a good look at her, he realizes she is the woman he’d seen in Oxford. How can she be back here and in residence at the home? Is she a danger to the ladies of the Society or the residents? What does she have to do with the blackmail? Is she the blackmailer?
Sir William Tift hasn’t always been rich. His family went through some very hard times, but nobody outside the Men of Nashwood know that. He always loved the time he spent at the homes of the Men of Nashwood – he especially treasured the time he spent at the home of Julius Hext because he loved spending time with Julius’ young cousin – Natalia Hext. She frustrated him, tormented him, and aggravated him, but he always loved being around her. Then, she disappeared and he hasn’t seen her for twenty years. Why are memories of her suddenly in his thoughts?
As the investigation continues and secrets are revealed, can a family rift be healed? What role does Zedock Sudworth play? What is his relationship to Mrs. Wells? Is Mrs. Wells William’s childhood friend? Wow! So many questions. You’ll just have to read this great addition to the Spinster’s Society series to find all of those answers and many more.
"I requested and received this e-book at no cost to me and volunteered to read it; my review is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher."
Another installment of The Spinster's Society" and maybe the best so far. Stone is adept at snaring the reader and not letting go until the end. Full of suspense, mystery, well kept secrets and emotions buried, I could not turn the pages fast enough. Mrs Leah Wells lives at and is a teacher at the home the Society runs for women. She is actually keeping her identity a secret and why is that? Sir William Tift is a member of the Nashwood Men who all hold a secret. He keeps feeling he knows "Leah" but at first cannot place her. As someone begins using blackmail against one of the men, Leah and her brother investigate and are close to finding the culprit. Meanwhile William becomes attracted to Leah, but what will happen when he finds out who she is? This is an intriguing read and is a great addition to the series!
Maria's Secret Spinster's Society (The Spinster's Society Book 8)
This book has two story in it. The first is the love story of Natalie and William. Natalie return to London to stop a blackmailed and run into William the man she had love sent she was a child. The second is the love story of Emily and Victor. Emily goes to London to find an old and wealth husband but she meet Victor, a new young and wealth duke looking for a wife. Great love story and has some very fun scenes.
I have come to love this series and the story. In this book we learn more about the brother hood and their secrets. The only thing I didn't like again the start of the book. The last book left us finding out the spinsters were excepting and this book starts off as they already had the kids nothing really leading up to it or introducing us on a personal level of the new additions.
This book focus is more on Julius and what his story is but again a lot is left out that wants you wanting more information. We also learn the identity of Lorean's butler Zed.
This is the love between two friends which started as children and one which lasted to adulthood. When Natalia was a child and William was visiting her cousin Julius William always went to visit her and would play with her and make her feel special. Each time William visited his attraction to her grow and he knew one day he was going to marry her and promised to take her away.
One night Julius's Uncle and mother had planed to kill him. For reasons we not know she hated her son. The brother hood learned off this and prepared and they hid the night they went to look for him and the killed his Uncle and Mother. It was the secret they carried all these years and kept from their wife's. Now someone was black mailing them. This is where the story begins and the adventure and mystery come together.
Natalia was determined to find this person and bring her cousin peace. She never excepted to run into William and fine he was attracted to her. She came to town hiding who she really was to help her cousin who she was under the impression wanted to kill her and her brother. When Natalia finds out who the kidnapper is and prevents her from blackmailing anyone else she is shocked to see that William had followed her and he still wanted answers from her she was not ready to give but gives into the romance and love.
The next day they all leave for William house for a party and this is where you learn of some of the things everyone was hiding and new friendships are formed and the family's come together. She plans a little joke for William but it back fires as she thought everyone was in on the joke but it really was a secret only she knew and now he knows who she is...............

My Thoughts:
I believe I enjoyed this newest Spinster Society book the most of all so far. It is full of intrigue, blackmail and mystery with an underlying romance that heats up the pages. It is the mystery that makes this story one that is hard to put down and one for the keeper shelf. I gave this book 4.75 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 3.75 of 5.0 flames. There is no explicit sexual encounters but you experience the heat between our hero and heroine none the less. I received a complimentary digital copy of this book from the author to read and review. This in no way affected my opinion of this story which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
Natalia Hext has a secret… Her real name is Leah Wells and she is the cousin to the Marques of Darvess. She fled with what was left of her family a long time ago for fear if found, death would follow.
Sir William Tift is one of the Men of Nashwood and has a secret of his own; one that has haunted all of the men for years.
Leah Wells and William Tift met when they were children, but there was a connection between them even then.
Now there is a connection between Natalia Hext and William that he cannot explain and doesn’t want to fight. Natalia has always loved him, but is torn between allowing herself to love or the need to continue to run!
Natalia’s Secret Spinster’s Society was filled with mystery, suspicion, family, friendship and romance. Charlotte Stone answered a lot of questions in this book without taking away from the romantic connection between Natalia and William. I have loved this series from the beginning and had feared I would have to wait until the last book to find out the Men’s secret or who certain people were, but Ms. Stone created a wonderfully written tale that gave those answers and so much more! I honestly cannot wait until the next book and am sad that almost all of the Men of Nashwood are taken… I have my fingers crossed that there will be some additions made and the world of Spinsters and Men of Nashwood can continue!
* ARC was received in return for an honest review. It is my opinion that this book can be read as a standalone but highly recommend this series.
A huge secret that the Nashwood men have been keeping is about to come to light. Leah has come the house they Spinsters have for abused women. She is here in disguise , so is her brother (Zed). They are trying to locate the person who has been blackmailing their cousin Julius. They have not seen him since they were children. Julius had taken part of their land and they had nothing left. An awful event happened at her home when they were children. That sent the children and their mom moving to another country to protect them. Leah thinks she has located the blackmailer. William is also seeking out the blackmailer and sees Leah talking to her. William very taken with Leah and wants her for his own not realizing who she is. During the revealing of the big secret Leah and Zeds identity is revealed. Their fears that their cousin would harm them are released he welcomes Natalia and Lorenzo with open arms. Him taking the land was to hold it safe for them if they returned . Well you know what happens when a Nashwood man finds the woman he intends to spend the rest of his days with. Charlotte I love these stories of the Spinsters and their men. I was given this book as an ARC and my review is my own honest opinion .
Another really good book in Spinster's Society! I just really enjoyed the story & it is always great to have the characters from the past books in the present one. William is another irresistible member of the Nashwood Men & they never disappoint us with their handsome rogue, cunning, brave behavior. Natalia had so many secrets & of course was in danger so many times with William & friends there to save her. She was a perfect candidate for the Spinster's Society. Once again, in every review I have done on this series, I am still waiting for Julius' story - it has to be coming soon as we are almost out of Nashwood Men. I highly recommend this series if you love handsome men, free thinking spinsters, danger, suspense, romance & some spice!
Secrets are revealed!! Men of Nashwood are being blackmailed but they don't know they have a couple of guardian angels looking out for them. William knows Leah is not what she seems but he can't help the attraction he feels. Zed has earned their trust but he is so much more than what he seems. So many loose ends are tied up in this book and I can't help to say Charlotte Stone is a master at weaving an intriguing tale. The outcome of this book is perfect in my opinion. I'm ready to see will she will go next? I'm hoping it will be Julius's story.
In addition, Charlotte Stone included another awesome read about Victor and Emily at the end of the book. A great addition to an already great release.💕
Another interesting story about the Spinster's Society and the men of Nashwood. The story starts when they are children but something terrible happened and they are separated for years. Because someone is blackmailing them and a cousin, Leah Wells and her brother get involved to solve the mystery. Major Gen. William Tift is only trying to protect his friends. Leah and her brother are in disguise so they are not recognized. After all, no one has even seen them since they are grown. Mistaking Leah for the blackmailer at first, causes tension between the old friends. Maybe the Spinsters will now find out the secret their husbands have kept all these years.
This was the story of Natalia(Leah) and William. They meet again in London after many years of separation. William is investigating the blackmailing of a friend Julius. So is Leah and Zed(Natalia’s brother). William is drawn to Leah and she has loved him since they were young. The men in this story are members of a secret brotherhood. They all grew up together and are united by something they did in the past when they were boys. The story was hard to get into, but became better as it went along. It finally made since when the men reveal to their wives what their secret is.
This was an entertaining Regency romance. Natalia, now Leah, has a secret and can't let William recognize her. He knew her when they were children and now that they are adults she is in disguise. There's danger around them and no one can be trusted. This book can be read as a standalone story, though it is part of the Spinster’s Society series. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by this author.
This book was more intriguing than the last book, but I like how each book pulls from one another. This is the largest series with small, intimate details woven throughout each book that pertains with the other plots. So subtle and masterly accomplished by Charlotte Stone. Natalia and William popped off the pages and the storyline intriguing and amazing in answering some secrets about the "Brotherhood".
4 stars only because it took me till the end to like the female lead. It was good to finally know why the Nashwood men are so close. Loved William but felt Natalie could have come clean just by having been so close to the Nashville women. How the men treated the women should have been a clue. Final!y knowing who "Zeb" is was very interesting. Can't wait for the next book and what's in store for the rest of the men.
The Spinster's Society continues to grow. And the Men of Nashwood are getting married one by one. I love this series. Neither the men nor the women are perfect (although they're pretty much perfectly good looking). There's always mystery, intrigue, and romance. In this book, secrets are revealed, and many questions are answered. I hope it's not the last of the series.
Good read with quite a bit of intrigue as to what is going on. If you've read the other books, we finally learn the secret that the Nashwood men have been keeping. If you haven't, you'll be ok. You'll just know more as you read the previous books.
I've enjoyed every Spinster's Society book I've read, including Natalia's. The women are strong and the men doomed to fall in love. There's always enough variation in the situation to keep it interesting and intrigue to keep it exciting.
A young lady is living in a house that has been set up for women who have escaped from husbands that have been cruel. She has become a teacher while looking for the person who has been blackmailing her family.
I enjoy this series but the lack of good editing is frustrating. Misspelled words- incorrect names used- Mr instead of Mrs. As the series continues it gets worse. Little to no errors in the first book and now this book- almost every other paragraph has an error.
While I've been enjoying these books in the series, the spelling and grammar are bordering on atrocious. How do these things get missed in editing? There are way too many to believe it was even proofread.
Leah is keeping a secret and a big one at that. For one thing Leah is not her real name, she was raised to be a lady but she had to hide her identity to keep her and her brother safe. William will stop at nothing to find out her secret. A great book with a wonderful ending.
Love this series!!!! Lots of intrigue, twists, romance and secrets revealed. Love the characters and their interaction. Will definitely recommend this one.
I loved William and Natalia 's story. It seems that they were meant for each other from childhood. This is a fabulous series, in this book some secrets come to light.
Oh my! I am loving these books. So exciting, intriguing and romantic! Such awesome characters and storylines.one of the best series of books I have read!
