Want more of the Norse gods? Check out the Dragons Series
TINA GLASNECK can't imagine a world without books. Her works have been classified in several genres, including mystery, suspense, fantasy and paranormal romance, and new adult.Yet for Tina, it is all about the characters and their journeys.
An avid reader with a love of traveling, meeting new people and exploring her world, her interest in law, religion, history, fantasy, and dragons, made writing about it an “easy” choice. Give her a castle to enchant her, and tell her a funny story to make her snort with laughter, but please don’t serve her cake with red icing.
Tina takes joy in beautiful architecture, lively cities and world travel. She enjoys creating make-believe worlds where she sometimes resides, and is often thinking and tinkering on her next story. Sometimes she feels like a real life Cinderella, without the ashes or the fairy godmother, and at other times, she is just a girl, looking for a chance to tell that next great story.
I enjoyed all the mythology throughout this book. I truly liked Lady Hel and her relationship with Harley. I Loved how protective he was of her from the very beginning. I honestly can't wait to get my hand on the next book in this series!
When I first read the synopsis for Hellish I was worried that it sounded too complicated for such a quick read, but I think it was a nicely told story. I loved all the Norse Mythology that was included in the book. I also liked that it was a flip on the traditional rich man falls for poor girl. Lady Hel took some warming up to, but Harley's boyish charm and positive outlook helped to bring out their chemistry. I would have loved to have spent more of the book back in time as I think it would have added another element, but overall a good read.
An interesting twist to the myths about the Norse gods. I got a little lost in the who was who. However, I enjoyed reading about and exploring my love for mythology. I am really looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
Hellish by Tina Glasneck 1st book in the Hellish series. Crossover characters from the Dragon series appear but you don’t need to know that series to read this introduction novella. Fantasy / paranormal romance novella. Norse mythology mixed with time travel. Lady Hel is sentenced by the others gods to find her true love. She finds that with Harley when he jumps the fence of the estate on a dare.
Interesting premise. Probably better with knowledge of the Norse gods. The romance was quick and hot. The scene changes were a bit abrupt but it’s a short novella. I did want to kick them both at one point - show those smarts you supposedly have! It’s a romance and did satisfy in the end.
This book both intrigued me and confused me. I am not all that into mythology so I feel like this is somewhat my fault. However, the book had me desiring to know what is next and that is a sign that an author has done a great job. I may return to this world and dabble in some of the Dragon series!
The concept was interesting but the story itself didn’t catch me. It was hard to really connect with the characters and their relationship it just felt rushed and awkward at times.
An irreverent look at Norse mythology; a different view of the Lady Hel, goddess of death – she , is imprisoned by Odin in the human realm till she finds someone to love her. She gives up ….. it’s highly overrated … but will Harley, the college student, be the one? This was a fun book. However there was a slightly specific sex scene, which I didn’t think needed to be there. I received a free copy of this book; this is my honest review.
I thought this book was awful. I am a huge fan of Norse myth and I had high hopes for a book that focused on someone other than Thor or Loki. However, this book was extremely disappointing. As I read through the other reviews on here I am left confused and in awe.
The relationship between Lady Hel and Harley was rushed and unrealistic. She meets him and they are both instantly in love? It gives no background information as to why they both felt so strongly about each other. Additionally I personally feel as though Harley’s character was a complete waste, he’s super smart but doesn’t try in school? Like ughhh.
I’m surprised Glasneck lists Jeanine Frost as an inspiration, Frost’s novels are some of my favorites but Glasneck’s novel was far from the likes of Frost.
Again, I went into this book with really high hopes and was extremely disappointed. It was short so that meant it felt rushed and it just had a bunch of random situations that felt awkward. At some points I had to put the book down for a minute because I was rolling my eyes so hard at the completely basic storyline and it’s predictability.
Welcome to Hel. Lady Hel to be precise. She’s never had any need for love. She rules Hel…that is until a curse forces her to leave her realm and find her one true love. Lady Hel is not unhappy about her situation, but she has only herself to blame. The gods intervened where she chose to interfere and now she must pay the price. However long it takes for the task to be accomplished. Hellish (The Hell Chronicles) is book one in this new series by Tina Glasneck. In this book, we are introduced to Lady Hel. She has committed an act that the other Norse gods have deemed egregious. So they sentence her to the task of finding her, one true love. This won’t be an easy thing, but she figures out a means of accomplishing the task. This is an interesting story about Lady Hel. She hides behind the guise of complete beauty. She tells herself that she just simply wants the curse broken, but is there really more? Does she crave more out of her existence than this? Harley, a college student, is about to graduate in a couple weeks when he meets her one night. You quickly can tell that there is something there between them, but there is more to it than meets the eye. This story ebbs and flows, but once Harley’s own backstory comes to life the story really kicks into gear and comes to life for me. There are a few moments of where the story feels disjointed, but thankfully it all comes together. From what I can tell there are few to no editorial issues in this story. I am rating this story 4 out of 5 stars. It’s a good story, but I feel that it could flow better in places. There are spots that I feel could have been fleshed out more, and the reader is given more. This is an interesting story, and for those who are hoping for it, …this book does have an HEA. The location isn’t what I expected but the ending is there. For those who enjoy stories with the Norse gods, magic, romance and some time travel this is the book for you. Enjoy.
I enjoyed this book, it was short and sweet and a fun read. Hellish is the first book in the Hell Chronicles but also connects to the Dragon’s series. Lady Hel is the main character and she finds herself banished to Earth where she must stay until she finds true love. She finds this an impossible task and has just about given up hope until a college student stumbles onto her property on a dare. When Hel offers him an enticing future with her, Harley wonders if there is more to Lady Hel than meets the eye. Lady Hel is a strong and capable character and Harley is a funny sweet guy. I liked their story and hope only good things await them in the next book.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Norse mythology and romance stories.
This was a good book that probably could have been great if more depth had been included. It reads more like a prequel (and in fact I think is) rather than a Book One of series. Without having read the others, I can't say for sure, but I'm under the impression that I would have enjoyed this more had I read later books in the series first and then come back to this one for a "Ohh, so this is how they met." moment.
With that said, once I figured out what was going on, I enjoyed this. The story did pick up and begin to make more sense for me after some initial confusion and jumping around that had me guessing a bit. And I'd give a solid five stars for the characters which was the highlight of the book for me and why I kept reading, very good development character-wise.
I still feel that the actual plot could have been tweaked a bit, although by the end it did make sense to me. No issues with the writing style itself, it came off as polished. The author is obviously talented and it did make me want to read the rest of the series (although this book does have a solid ending if a reader chose to stop there). Thanks to Booksprout for my copy, this is my voluntary review.
Hel decided to intervene between her son and his love, and the gods did not approve of this. As punishment, the exiled her to the human realm and she cannot return to Helheim until she finds her true love. Enter Harley. A poor college student who doesn't know where life is taking him. He strikes up a deal with Helen, but it may be more than they bargained for.
In this short story, we get some Norse mythology, mixed with the classic tale of "true love finds a way". Harley and Hel seem like the most unlikely pair until you get an inside look into their thoughts and what their true history is together.
My only issue is there were parts of the book that made the timeliness confusing. When Hel takes Harley back to the Viking Era, he learns who he really is and what she is to him. Then in the next chapter he is dying from a car crash? I believe there could have been a better way to bring out the conclusion to the story that made more sense.
Compelling twist, worthy plot, but something was missing Helena (Hel) has been cursed to remain on Earth until she finds true love. Harley is a college student trying to find himself. The mysterious, leather-clad Helena fascinates him, and he is caught up in an unbelievable self-journey. I liked both Helena and Harley, but I didn’t feel the attraction, that magical spark, between them. Their romance fell flat for me. I was hoping for more from this author. The cover is great, I loved the title, the blurb was intriguing, and I love Norse mythology, but I was disappointed. The story seemed rushed, and I didn’t feel the love or attraction between the characters, but I liked the plot. It was a good story, but it could have been better.
I enjoyed this novella, it was good. I haven't read Ms Glasneck's Dragon series and don't think that it's a requirement to enjoy this story. Having said that, l'm sure existing fans will have picked up on references and subtleties that I missed.
The pace is fast and the plot moves on quickly (in fact, I felt it jumped too much at times) and though I would have enjoyed a more leisurely pace to get to know Lady Hel, Harley and the other characters more and pad out the plot, I understand that this is primarily a short story to enhance the Dragon series rather than a standalone one.
I knew, from the very first Dragon book, that Lady Hel was going to be an interesting character. This book has proved it beyond a shadow of doubt. Her missing lost love is equally fascinating. And the hoops they make each other jump through in order to validate their feelings were quite entertaining. There is such a wealth of detail and a reverence for the myths and legends that have gone into the writing of this story, that my hair stood on end. I have always considered this to be a sign that I’m in the presence of something special. I received a complimentary copy of this book.
I received a copy of this for a fair and honest review. I have always had a love for mythology and stories of the ancient world. This book is to set the stage for the story to come. Harley is a college student who is a little lost on his path to find where he fits in and what his future holds. That is when he crosses path with Helena better known to him as Lady Hel. They seems to butt heads at every turn. Will Harley be able to break through where others have failed? You will have to read it for yourself to find out the true answers for I will never tell.
This is a great start to the series or can even be read as a stand alone. There is nothing like a bit of magic- both mortal and immortal. It was a quick read and read well. It was an intense love story with a time travel element. A great entertaining fantasy. All the Gods teaching a lesson by "punishing" a Goddess. There was some humor that made this read on the lighter side tat I enjoyed. A trip to Walmart in a book is always fun!
A fast read with a few Viking gods and goddesses. Can a cursed goddess fight the love of her life to end the curse? This one story I’m not sure how to explain. There is some hotness, some romance and Viking lore. I enjoyed how different the story is and am ready to read more. If you like Viking mythology mixed with some present day , then you will enjoy this romance.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The author really immerses you in Norse Mythology. We get introduced to Lady Hel who has been cursed and thrown out of Asgard and is sent to earth to live until she discovers love. The Norse mythology is explained in detail and we are introduced to different characters, including Thor, Odin, Freya etc. It also explains about dragons, elves and the different gods and giants. Overall this is a really interesting read and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
I think the book had a good idea but I personally was confused through the first half of the book. I knew that Hel was looking for a new guy but I didn't think that she would be looking for her reincarnated lover/mate. The story is alright but had too many missing details and too many unnecessary details. Some parts of the story didn't make sense and some of the parts were in there just for the hell of it. No pun intended.
3 Stars. This was a super quick short read with a fast pace. It's well written but I was a bit underwhelmed if I'm being completely honest. I did enjoy it but it felt to me like it was missing the "Umph" to stand out against all the other books I've read in this genre and left me feeling just meh. I'm sorry I couldn't give a better review.
This is the fourth book in the Dragon's series and focuses on Lady Hel who is the ruler of Helheim. After being cursed for disobeying Odin we get to get to know Lady Hel a little better. I really enjoyed getting to see the more softer side of Lady Hel and hope that we get to see her and Harley more in the future. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
This was a cute story! It was my first read from Tina Glasneck and it most certainly won't be the last! The chemistry between Harley and Hel was written superbly. Hel is a strong woman who can be made into putty at the hands of her beloved all in the same! I can't wait to read more!
I voluntarily agreed to read this book and this is my honest review!
The Norse goddess HEL has been exiled to Earth from Helheim until she can experience true love. She has an estate, glamoured servants and a nearby college where she can pick and choose males while she searches for 'the One'. Into her exile comes a college student named Harley, who has spent 7 years dodging a four year college degree. And "ACTION!"
Should the Queen of Hell get a second chance at love?
I enjoyed this story that is tied Ms Glasneck’s “Dragon’s” series. In keeping with most things - no one is really truly good or evil - and proof of this - in this story the queen of Hell herself, Lady Hel gets a chance to find love again, even though it is in the form of a curse.
Lady Hel is the type of female lead I love - Kick butt, sassy, take no crap but severely flawed.Hellish is book 1 and does a great job of laying the groundwork and backgroud for the series. It is fast paced and captivating and I am excited for Book 2
Hellish is a combination of Norse mythology, magic, romance with time travel and humor thrown in. The story line is interesting and I liked both Lady Hel and Harley. This is an easy read and am looking forward to the next in series.
Just finished this, book one of boxed set, I loved it. This genre was a little new for me and I am so happy I gave it a read. I truly enjoy this authors writing style, story moves quickly and characters really came to life for me. Looking forward to the next book. Laura D
The story doesn't flow. The jumps from one scene to another are jerky. The entire book could be been shortened to less than a chapter with nothing lost.
An interesting tale of Norse gods. Lady Hel, the goddess of Helheim, is called before Freyja and Odin for crimes against her son. She is sentenced to liive with mortals and learn their ways until she finds her true love. This is an interesting twist to most Nordic tales. I enjoyed reading it
