Welcome to Blue Moon Bay, a little seaside town full of vampires, shifters, witches, and ghouls. A town with a dark secret. A town that was once cursed by a black witch to be forgotten by the rest of the world except for once in a blue moon.
Zinnia Rose is a hearth witch who has no desire to ever find a mate. See, she's got a little problem—one she's sure no man would ever understand.
Zane Huntington is running away from his past. Stopping in Blue Moon Bay for dinner may be the biggest mistake of his life, or maybe it's the beginning of a brand new adventure…
I’ve read many books by Jovee and she’s always been really good with creating new worlds full of magic and fun characters. I saw that she had posted a teaser about this book and the first few chapters completely drew me in so when this book came out, I immediately bought it.
Zinnia is a really interesting character. She’s a witch who has a curse, and because of the curse she didn’t think that she could ever have a relationship. Because of this, she convinced herself she didn’t want or need a partner. However, in the chapters with her POV, there were small hints of loneliness and her trying to convince herself that she didn’t need someone to love. I’m not sure I agree with her choice to save her best friend (even though the friend specifically requested Zinnia not use her magic to save her) but I like that she's not perfect.
Zane’s wife died a few years ago and now he’s left alone to take care of their child, Edward. Zane is trying his hardest to keep his head over water while he and his son are grieving. It was really interesting being in his POV, mostly because he kept trying to deny his attraction and the weirdness of Blue Moon Bay. If it weren’t for Edward, Zane would have been out of that town after the first few days.
It was really interesting seeing these two interact—especially with Zinnia’s secrets—but I felt like their romance happened a bit too quickly. I know part of it was Zinnia’s aunts’ magic pulling them together, but it felt a bit rushed. The book itself is rather short, and I felt like Jovee could have added a lot more in there before Zane and Zinnia got together. Even though Zane and Edward were able to get some closure with Edward’s mom, it still felt like they fell in love too quickly. Not only that, but Zane decided to stay even after he figured out that once the curse fell over the town once more, he could never leave. Since they knew each other only for a short time, I find it hard to believe that he would make that sacrifice—not only for him, but his son as well. Even though magic was interfering, I still felt like it was too quick.
However, I absolutely loved the world and the really interesting backgrounds everyone have. I loved learning about Zinnia’s curse and about all the cool characters. I do wish we had learned more about the secondary characters—they were more 2D than anything else, but I’m hoping Jovee will give us more in the following books in the series. While this book didn’t completely win me over, I trust Jovee from reading her past works that I’ll definitely keep reading this series.
I recommend this book to those who love a fun, quirky read with characters who aren’t perfect but win over your heart. While some ends are tied, not all of them are, and we’re left with a pretty good cliffhanger so while you can read this as a stand-alone, you’ll be left with the questions about what’s going to happen.
What happens when you're a witch, in a town hidden from the outside world that "reappears" every now and then to allow in new blood? You go about your day and hope that your well-meaning Aunts leave you to your own devices! Zinnia runs the town's diner, loves baking and cooking, but lives with a curse because of actions last time the town's curse was lifted. Her aunts want her to find her mate and have children, she just wants to run her diner.
Zane is running from the specter of his wife's death and seeks a new life with his son. A son who has not smiled or laughed much in the 2 years since his mother died. The town fascinates the boy, Zane just wants to keep moving. Can they both find a bit of happiness in the quirky cute town their failing GPS lands them in?
Zinnia's aunts magic may be trying to nudge the two together, but neither Zinnia nor Zane really wants to hear that call. Are they fated to be together? Can they fight the call? What will he think when he is forced to accept the truth of the town? I enjoyed the twists, turns and small mysteries that arose as they came. I can't wait to visit Blue Moon Bay again!
Jovee Winters is a new to me author but I will be reading more of her books. I was actually surprised by the depth of emotions the characters display. This book isn't your typical paranormal cozy in that there is not a murder but more of a mystery. Blue Moon is a cursed little town of paranormals that only can be found by outsiders for decades at a time. The curse was last lift 70 years prior but then "closes the door " months or weeks later trapping all that remain but why would anyone what leave the little town. All sorts of paranormal reside within from witches to Bigfoot. This series is written with likeable characters that I truly felt for. Its rare that a cozy mystery makes me cry and laugh almost from once sentence to the next. This book is so well written and the author gifted.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
Welcome to Blue Moon Bay. This book follows a little town from a time past that's hidden away from the rest of the world, well at least most of the time it is... The veil has just opened and 3 of the resident witches have sent a spell to find love for the local ladies. This story follows Zinna and Zane, a hearth witch and a single dad. Can say that this has been one of my most fun and fascinating reads in a long time. Their tale is light hearted and full of magic and twists and turns. I fell in love with the characters and the town of Blue Moon Bay. I can't wait for the next book in this series!!
This is first is the Blue Moon series. Introducing us to Blue Moon, a town of supernatural creatures. The town was cursed over 300;yrs ago so it only appears every so often. You meet Zinnia Rose Thorne, a hearth witch with her own secret curse. Driving through Zane Huntington stops to feed his young son Edward at Zinnia's diner the Golden Goose. I'm leaving you there because I hate spoilers lol. I highly recommend this series as well as the Kingdom series that Jovee also writes. Enjoy!!
I loved it. I sat down and read all. In the beginning it reminded me Practical Magic and then as a continued and made me reminisce of the Halloween Disney movies I would watch when I was young. I would recommend this book to any one. It cute, funny, and heart-warming. Thank you Jovee Winters. You just continue to impress me with your stories.
Starting to read a new series is always exciting but it seldom happens that literally EVERYONE I read about had me wanting to know more about her or him. Combine that with a background that's mysterious and charming, a story that captivated me and didn't let me put down the book until I devoured it completely and lots of quirks and funny and sad and thrilling moments that were all right up my alley... oh yes, I found another one-click series here.
Great new series. A town under a spell that interacts with the human world so that the residents might find their soulmate once a spell has been cast. Take a witch that doesn't want a soulmate and a young widower (with a young son) that is still to overcome the lose of his wife and watch the sparks fly. Not really a cozy per se but a terrific smoothly plotted book that you will throughly enjoy with great characters.
Ok as expected from the author. This book is fascinating. The small curse town , the love between zane and zini( i think that was her name) it was all very well writing. I love the mystery about the new witch( i am 95% she is a witch). Overall the story was fascinating. I hope to read the new book soon.
This is a very cute and unusual love story set in a town that like Brigadoon and some other legendary places only appears for a short time and then vanishes into the mists for years or centuries. The residents are mostly paranormal, but the love story is as sweet as it is surprising. I got one am looking forward to book two.
I love Jovee Winters. She is a great author. A new series, and another good book. This one does not have love scenes like the Dark Kings and Queens (the love scenes in these series are just beautiful though). A sweet story about Zinnia and Zane. Good pace and the end left questions that I hope are answered in later books in the Blue Moon Bay series.
Like this new series by one of my favorite authors
Can't wait for the next book! This book was an unexpected discovery! I love jovee winters kingdom series and this book is now on my favorite's list can't wait to see what happens!!

This was a good read. I'm looking forward to the next one and more about Sage. I love the names! And all the characters are so damn lovable.
One issue I have though is about Malachite...is it a he or she? It would be nice if that's cleared up now or in the next book. I thought it was a he but...yeah that was a bit confusing.
Eventhough this book was a good read I'll admit it was a slow read as well. Jovee Winters is one author I love reading. There's always a small editing mistake here and there but the flow and content of her books are always something to look forward to. Her characters as well. I don't know what it was about this book but it didn't have the same shabang feeling as her other books. Maybe it's because it looks like she tried to tame this story a bit? I don't know but, that seems to be the right word. Tame. I still liked it though. Anyway...
Thanks for a good book and so looking forward to more of these cursed folks. Especially exotic looking Coco! Adios amigos, see yas next time!
A lovely first book to a new series. Of course there is a nice amount of world building but it doesn't distract from the story. Loved all the characters both man and background. Looking forward to more stories.
This book was full of sweet surprises and quirky characters! I really enjoyed this new world that Jovee winters has created. I'm excited for more and leaning all about the special folks that live in Blue Moon. Another entertaining adventure!
A cursed town that let's humans in every so often, and love matches are made. Zinnia , a witch with a secret, and Zane, a human not completely over his dead wife., meet and things pick up from there. Definitely looking forward to more.
I found this book to be delightful. It was well written, the story was interesting too. I will be reading all of them so I know what v happens in this wild and wacky place!
Zinnia doesn’t want a mate. Ever. But fate and her aunts decides she needs one. And in walks Zane and his young son, Edward and things start to change. Excellent book! Highly recommend this book!
