A more effective leadership model for the new business environment. Spiral Dynamics in Action explores the evolution of modern business, and provides a model for moving forward amidst ever-increasing complexity and change. Only by truly understanding other people's perspectives can you bring them together to achieve the extraordinary, and this book provides a field guide to the different motivations, behaviours and talents in your team to help you lead diverse groups more effectively. Focused on action over theory, the Spiral Dynamics model includes cutting-edge leadership practices, management systems, processes, procedures and techniques to help you bring about real-world results.
The nature of change is consistent, but that doesn't make it any less enormous or complex to deal with. As a business leader, you are tasked with not only navigating change yourself, but also guiding others through the maze successfully. This book shows you how to shift your perspective, hone your focus and deliver what your people need
Understanding the reasoning behind different perspectives. Helping people play off one another's strengths to achieve a shared goal. Adopting cutting-edge practices, processes and procedures for improvement. Taking action to re-connect an increasingly fragmented environment. The marketplace has gone truly global, workforces are increasingly diverse and companies are taking on powerful new social responsibilities. It's a lot to take in, let alone manage, but the responsibility of leadership is to gather disparate parts and make them into a whole. It's your job to turn anchors into rocket fuel, and motivate and inspire your team to the top. By digging to the core of each person, each culture and each problem, you uncover a roadmap to high performance; Spiral Dynamics in Action shows you how to guide your people through any changes and emerge stronger than before.
My favorite topic...spiral dynamics. This is Beck's 2nd book on the topics showing many successful applications. Only disappointment....in a book where values are color coded using a black/white format is unsuitable. Many of Becks's compatriots who use his system also wrote of their successes.
The concept of Spiral Dynamics is phenomenal and a game changer. The problem is that the books (this one and the original) are not as precise and concise as I would have preferred them to be. But the concept and understanding of life, people, and nations that is gained from absorbing Spiral Dynamics is priceless!! There is room for someone to write a clear and concise book about it.
Well organized compilation by SD tribe members. For me, a few new things (which merit further exploration) were: VSM technology AI & sensor-based decision support, VMEMEtic profiling algortithms, the BeQ philosophy & research database, the Adizes methodology, and Carkhuff's interpersonal approach.
Spiral Dynamics is a great collection of theories but the number of authors in this book make it messy and repetitive. I recommend reading "Spiral Dynamics" instead. It's not outdated even though it's been done years since it was authored.
Spiral is a fascinating concept and this book is the most applicable take on the concept I've come across. I first heard about spiral dynamics at the age of 19 from a retired entrepreneur and it truly opened my mind to understanding the world in a completely new depth. For the first time I had a framework that gave me an understanding just how different believes can be based on a core fundamental realities we each inhabit, similarly to Maslow's hierarchy of needs. It's a deeply insightful concept, however I believe at the same time it has serious flaws and thus should be used for perspective not as a bible. The examples presented are of mixed quality and I dislike how spiral is framed as a solution to basically everything. Nevertheless it's a concept well worthy digging in deep, I'm sure it will challenge many basic assumptions you have about yourself and provide a deep source of empathy to connect with people that think differently to you. This book is the most comprehensive introduction into the world of spiral that I've come across after many years of meddling with the concept.
A bit tedious. And it seems to appropriate the work of other people and calling it the work of Spiral Dynamics. On page 39 there is a fun allusion to the Grand Master from 'Thor Ragnarok', clearly accidental.
