Smoke rescued Sydney from the Drake in the last installment of this series and proposed. In this one, she accepts and they make it to the altar. In between, a new player gets involved trying to capture Smoke with lots of special forces types and a cool helicopter to help them. Despite the part about Smoke and Sydney getting married, there is a ton of action in this book. And the shift in their banter worked. There’s no Moonlighting moment here where it turns out that the fans actually didn’t want the stars to tie the knot.

And lest I forget, there is an important revelation at the end of the book about what happens to black slate arrests. Combine that with how hard they are to actually kill and the rest of the series is looking even tougher than the first seven books.

Not the type of book for everyone with all the descriptive words for sounds. But this is an action book filled with fighting helicopters and lots and lots of guns. I enjoyed this read slow to start but I’m invested!

This book adds to the first with move characters and development of the originals while it is a Bit repetitive it’s still and enjoyable read.

Addition of new things and twists and turns is awesome !

As more of the story line unfolds I just can’t stop. Must keep going. I can’t wait to see how it ends.

Weakest book so far. Also the shortest.

The supernatural "hunt" in this book is basically an afterthought. The main crux of the story is the developing relationship between Smoke, and Sidney, the repercussions of their actions against The Drake thus far, and a revelation pertaining to Smoke & Sidney's "X factor" (what makes them special to The Drake).

Still a fun read, but feels like more of a transitional book then its own thing
